Itinerary
You'll start your tour with a drive-by private vehicle to the railway market, about 1.5 hours from Bangkok. Please be on time for your tour! We'll need to leave at 6:30 am sharp or you'll miss the excitement at the surreal railway market. And trust us, you need to see it to believe it! Vendors set up their goods along active railway tracks, with fresh produce, fabrics, cooking supplies and more all lined up a mere few inches from the track's edge (and in some cases, right on top of the tracks). You'll get to see what happens when the train comes through: vendors gather up their things and lower their canopies, and both vendors and shoppers step aside as the train travels right through the middle of the market. Once the train leaves, business resumes as though nothing had disrupted them! Between the train schedule, your guide will lead you around the market and introduce you to traditional Thai foods, from desserts to snacks to fresh fruits. We'll then continue on a short drive to a palm sugar plantation, where we'll visit the house of a villager who still makes palm sugar the traditional way. There are a lot of coconut palm tree plantations in Thailand, and the local wisdom of making organic palm sugar from the nectar of coconut flowers has been passed down from generation to generation.
Onward, we'll board a small boat for a ride through narrow village canals, to reach the famous floating market of Damnoen Saduak — keep your camera ready as this place is a non-stop photo op. If anything catches your eye along your boat ride, let your guide know and you can stop to chat with vendors and purchase something to take home (or to eat right there!). We'll then depart the boat and walk around to explore more of the market. You'll find a variety of Thai foods, such as seasonal tropical fruits from local orchards, as well as souvenirs, all available on both river banks. Around noon, we'll head back to Bangkok and return you to the meeting point which is right next to BTS (Skytrain) station National Stadium. Your local guide will be happy to give you directions back to your accommodation or to other sites you should see.

Loved our day with our guide Pam, knowledgeable, friendly, adaptable.amd great sense of humour. Our driver was also fantastic, happy and helpful. Urban adventures don't follow the crowds so much and the private tour meant flexibility and allowed for extra questions. Thanks Pam!
Thoroughly enjoyed. Pam was friendly and knowledgeable. Transport was the tuffest Hiace van that I’ve ever been in. Would recommend.
Pam our tour guide was great. She explained everything. We had fun trying various fruits and snacks. We rode the train to the market and then watched it leave and went to floating market. We also saw coconut sugar plantation. Great day. Educational and fun
Pam was a great guide, she also took us where locals visits, ineresting. She really paid attention all details, and cared us a lot. Especially Railway market experience was nice, was more realistic than floating market. Floating market is very commercialized, show.
This tour with Pam and Tik Tok was the first thing my friend and I did in Thailand and it was absolutely perfect. We were only in Bangkok for 36 hours but we knew we wanted to see the famous markets in shows like Somebody Feed Phil and Parts Unknown. Pam and Tik Tok picked us up at our hotel for our private tour and we had the best 6 hours. We arrived at the railway market before the crowds so we were able to explore and shop with ease. Pam also had clearly built relationships with vendors there so we had prime viewing spots for the passing of the train. She was so nice and funny and extremely knowledgeable. Tik Tok was a great driver and the van was in great shape with crisp A/C. 10/10 recommend this incredible tour!! You won’t regret it and ask for Pam!
we booked the trip via Marriott Bonvoy app (lnked with viator/TA) - to get some points (that has yet to be received on our end), but anyway, it was truly the highlight of our holiday! Guided by the ever so friendly and knowledgeable Ms Apple, we started the day in Maeklong train station - arrived in 8.30am to catch the 1st train there and back! we got to sit in a coffee shop beside the railway and got out to catch the train chugging beside us, what an experience. Next on to the coconut processing village - yummy coconuts! lastly, we went to Damnoensaduak Floating Market - also one unique experience, buying souvenirs on a boat! Finished the trip and back in Bangkok town by 2pm - time well spent! Thanks a lot Ms Apple and Bangkok Urban Adventures!
Our tour was great and our guide Apple was incredible. She was very patient sweet and very knowledgeable! Great experience thanks
Excellent informative trip. We spent the morning with Nai , our guide and Manit our driver. Was picked up at the hotel as we were the only people on the trip. Nai was super friendly and we spent the trip to MaeKhlong exchanging stories nuggets our cultures and where to find good food in Bangkok. At MaeKhlong, Nai brought us to sample the local Thai fare ( mainly sweet desserts) and a look into a traditional Thai Market. We also visited a family run coconut sugar farm. (Look out for the super cute and friendly family dog - Fifa) Explored an authentic floating market and more than ample time to explore the market ourselves and sample the local fare. Manjit was instrumental in us reaching our destinations on time (especially to watch the train pass by the market). An excellent safe and experienced driver. Vehicle was clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend this trip. Learnt and experience Thai life outside of Bangkok
Amazing trip! My partner and I were the only ones on the trip making it a private tour. Pokémon, our guide was very attentive to our needs. He found us great spots for taking pictures and even bought us gifts - we truely appreciated all his efforts The railway market was really impressive and you do need to see it to believe it! Loved the coconut farm where you get to meet the owner and see the whole process of making coconut sugar. The owner seemed proud and happy to be welcoming tourists The floating market is one of a kind and captures the early days of trading over water Overall really enjoyed this tour. Couldn't have ask for more from Pokémon and Urban Adventures 🙏
Mr A made the whole day a very enjoyable experience from the start to the end. He answered all our questions with humour and candour, whilst feeding us lots of delicious local delicacies.
I was definitely not disappointed.... and our tour guide, A, was wonderful! Knowledgeable and very entertaining. Highly recommend Urban Adventures and ask for A for your tour guide.
Great tour! famous market and hidden gems:) This tour includes visiting an authentic market and what I enjoyed so much - local family that produce coconut sugar, it was exciting and informative journey, I would like to thank our beautiful guide Pam for this amazing day, Pam is a very friendly, energetic, positive person, I felt like traveling with a friend, we had a small group of 6 and all the way was comfy and fun. Highly recommend
I really enjoyed the tour. My guide Pam is very nice, knowledgeable and an excellent story-teller. We had a unique opportunity to visit a small local farm producing coconut sugar. It was very interesting to see all stages of the process! The Floating market was much fun too. We were going by boat around stalls with souvenirs, enjoyed picturesque view and nature. I recommend this tour to everyone who is looking for one-day adventure
Really enjoyed this tour with our guide A from Urban Adventures. We sampled different local foods throughout the tour which I would have otherwise walked straight past. A had an extensive local knowledge of Bangkok and ensured that we all enjoyed the tour. He got us a great vantage point to see the train at the railway market which was mind blowing! The coconut plantation was worthwhile but was much more of a smaller stop off than a place to spend an extended amount of time. Overall, good tour!
'A' was an excellent guide, he was well informed, and had a fun personality. We were able to get out of the city and catch a glimpse at what daily life is like for some of the local people. As we took the tour on a Saturday 'A' gave us the option of visiting the local floating market or the more well-know touristic market. Our group unanimously voted for the local market and we were not disappointed. I would highly recommend this tour and any tour with 'A' as a guide truly makes or breaks how well a tour runs and he was excellent.
Loved this trip beyond Bangkok, it's an early start but it's so worth it - we ate lovely Thai delicacies at the Railway market, we were there when the train went through (very exciting!), and had a really interesting visit to a palm sugar farm, and the floating markets were such a sign to behold .... we ate everything and it was delicious! Very comfortable transport to and from Bangkok, and the afternoon/evening free to rest, explore and practice my Thai phrases taught by Guide A - our amazing guide, thank you!
Excellent tour with our guide A from urban adventures. He brought us to a local families coconut farm which was very interesting and away from tourist very good experience. He was very knowledgable and gave us great details about Bangkok and some surrounding towns. He bought us many different foods to try along the way which was a great way of tasting some local dishes.. all and all a great trip out.. worth taking with himself and the company. Also must see place! Floating market and train market.
We had a super interessting day with our guide „A“ He could tell us a lot about the history and the cultur. Hes a funny person and did ask also about our wishes and changed the program accordingly :) We recommend him for your next trip in Bangkok☝🏻 Thanks to „A“!
We effectively had a private tour as the other couple cancelled at the last minute. It's an early start at 630 but that works well as it's cooler in the morning and it's essential to fit it all in and to get to the railway market in time for the main event. This is the passing of the train through the market, with the remarkable packing up by all the stall holders as the train approaches, and then the resumption of business the second the train has passed - a remarkable sight. From there to a visit to a coconut farm which was interesting, and then onto the floating markets. This is something of a misnomer. It's essentially a trip in a longtail boat along some canals, with random stops at stalls set up at the edge of the canals selling all sorts of the same sorts of touristy stuff that appear in umpteen markets elsewhere. The only vendors in boats are a few selling (very nice) coconut ice cream, but nonetheless it's quite a fun experience, but entirely touristy and nothing like a real working market (as one experiences on, for example, food tours. Our guide, Mond, was chatty, personable and knowledgeable, and helped make the experience memorable, and he later emailed us some photos he had taken across the day. You are then returned to the city by 100, so that's long enough, and then there's time to do other things in the warmer afternoon. Good value for money.
Everything was great. Our tour guide "A" was very informed and really likes to share his knowledge about his culture. We tried several tipycal dishes on both the railway and floating market and learnt a lot aboutbthe history of this places together with the hostory of Bangkok and Tailand. Besides the markets we had the chance to see a palm sugar plantagion and see how is produced both in a traditional and in more modern way. About the markets they are like nothing i saw before. Those places are without doubt a must do if you go to bangkok.
An enjoyable, interesting and fun day with guide ‘A’ who was knowledgeable about all the places we went to and went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed ourselves! This tour was a great way to get out of Bangkok and see some vibrant areas outside of the city. Would highly recommend!
Brilliant enthusiastic, professional and friendly guide Pam! Well worth seeing the railway and floating markets. Excellent transport in modern van. Small group of 4 people was great. Lots of tasters included such as yummy coconut pancakes! Got to see how coconut sugar is made and to climb a coconut tree!! Would definitely recommend
This was fabulous a wonderful day Nicky was an excellent guide loved the experience and Nicky kept us informed all day would thoroughly recommend this tour and if you are lucky enough to have Nicky or Pam as tour guides in Bangkok you will enjoy as much as we did. Thanks girls
Had a great time visiting these sites and it's my first time solo and joining others in this tour! I would personally thank PAM our tour guide which I book through airbnb experience.... She is one of the most humble and down to earth guide and importantly saves your wallet from going empty😂 Her English is good enough to understand throughout the whole day trip!
With Pokeman showing me the way around, not bring run over by the train that literally drives right down the middle of a thriving market place, I was in very safe hands. Besides this he was funny kind thoughtful and informative on many subjects - especially coconuts and the very delicious sweet coconut sugar. THANK YOU for your relaxing ride down the floating markets and the sweet treat ice cream. All said a great day and a great guide. LOVE and LIGHT ALWAYS Margaret Lambart
Had a great Experience led by A. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and took excellent care of his guests. Having him as a guide made the destinations on the trip far more superior than what could have been achieved otherwise.
We had a wonderful day seeing the railway market, the floating market, and how coconut sugar is made. The long boat ride to the floating market was also quite an experience. Best of all was having Pam as our tour guide. She was very friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and really made the trip a joy. We learned so much about the history of the country and the things we saw during the tour.
We had a great time visiting Railway and Floating Markets. Nai our guide is very knowledgeable, well organised and a super entertaining person. On the way to the market he told us many interesting stories about Thailand and was able to answer our numerous questions. Nai's friendly manner made us feel very comfortable and relaxed. He went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed the experience at the rail market. We tried many of the exotic fruits and some of the local sweets sold there. Later on we went on a short boat trip and visited the vibrant and busy floating market. Finally Nai took as to a coconut plantation and explained how coconut sugar is made. It was a very entertaining and remarkable experience. I highly recommend it!
The tour was absolutely amazing, we had the best tour guide possible — Nai. He was very informative, personable and funny (and great at taking pictures). From start to finish we were entertained, we spotted monkeys on the way to the railway and we’re able to stop for photos(from car) Every stop was entertaining, we seriously had the best time ever. I highly recommend this tour and if possible request Nai!!!
We had the most magical day it was a small group of 4 (including Nai) and we had the best time. Nai went out of his way to show us special foods and places in the Market. He was extremely personable and knowledgeable about the markets and Thailand in general - we learned so much. We could not have asked for a better tour guide it was an unforgettable day - Nai had us laughing the entire time and took really great pictures. I would recommend this tour with Nai as your guide hands down. This was one of the first tours we took while on our honeymoon and it was the best, we didn’t want the day to end. I can go on and on about how amazing our day was, I will never forget Nai and the amazing memories of the tour.
I absolutely loved every moment of this trip! Well worth an early start. Everything on the tour felt so surreal, we got an opportunity to visit the original floating market, as it was the weekend, and it was amazing! Our guide Mon was funny and knowledgeable and looked after us so well. He even taught me to write in Thai and took lots of photos for everyone in the group. Very easy going and genuinely lovely. I’d definitely recommend Urban adventures, Mon and this tour!
Loved our day out at Maeklong and the floating market! Pam, our guide was wonderful - she provided lots of useful information and insights, was full of energy and a pleasure to spend our time with. Highly recommend this trip and Pam. I’ve done several Urban Adventures over the years because they consistently provide an authentic experience with lots of local insight.
Let's just say, the 5am wake up call is worth it! Nai our guide from Urban Adventure was amazing! He had us in stitches and gave us a lot of reasons to visit Terminal 21. Not only was he easy going, he was informative, gave us great tips and was super patient with us when we stopped to take plenty of pictures. From seeing the train pass through the market to sugar palm plantation to the floating market, this tour is perfect for anyone who would like to visit many places in so little time on a budget. Would highly recommend this tour. Thank you Nai, you were amazing. We loved every bit of it. Thank you!
What an awesome day spent with Nai traveling around to the train market, floating market and local coconut plantation. This trip was very organised and didn't feel rushed at all. Being able to hit 3 very cool places in the span of 7 hours made for a perfect last day in Bangkok. Nai was such an awesome guide sharing so much local knowledge as well as letting us try many local fruits that we would not have tried on our own. The group was small as there was only 4 people total making it very personal. I would highly recommend if you are in the area!
Had an excellent time touring the railway and floating markets. Pam was the best guide ever! Would definitely recommend this adventure!!
We have just returned to our hotel following this excellent trip with urban adventures. Our guide Pam was just brilliant. She thought of everything and looked after us so well. We visited the famous railway market, a family run coconut plantation and the incredible floating markets. All worth seeing - great day trip.
A very organised and interesting trip to see the railway and floating markets. Mond was a lovely guide, very friendly and he was keen to share aspects of his country and culture. A great day and well-worth it :)
This was a great tour made all the better by our guide Nai. He was open and honest in his conversation and really brought the markets to life finding treats and fruits for us to sample that we had never seen or heard of. The floating market is mainly a tourist destination at this point but the railway market was an unexpected highlight. I highly recommend this tour and if you have the opportunity!
Highly recommend this wonderful tour! Fantastic sights, a great guide, to navigate you through them, and a superb opportunity to sample the most delicious array of Thai street food! 10/10!
