During this tour we will visit some historical temples in Ayutthaya and afterwards continue to Lopburi to visit the famous monkey-temple.
Ayutthaya, a kingdom that existed from 1350 to 1767, is a fantastic destination for culture lovers. During these four centuries, the country grew into the nation of Siam (the former name of Thailand), which roughly occupied the territory of modern Thailand, with the exception of the Lanna kingdom in northern Thailand.
Lopburi is one of Thailand’s oldest cities, being inhabited continuously since the Dvaravati era, that started 15 centuries ago. During the 10th century Lopburi became part of the Khmer empire. The Khmers built a number of impressive monuments, many of which still exist today.
During the reign of King Narai the Great in the second half of the 17th century, Lopburi was made the second capital of the Ayutthaya Kingdom.

Stop At: Phra Prang Sam Yot Admission Ticket:
Tickets are not included The Phra Prang Sam Yot was built when Lopburi was under the control of the Khmer empire from Angkor. The monument was likely founded in the late 12th or early 13th century. Phra Prang Sam Yot is Lopburi’s best known landmark and one of its oldest. It is one of several monuments that date back to the Khmer era. The monument in the center of Lopburi town is perhaps best known for the large number of monkeys that run around free, constantly on the lookout for food.

There are still monkeys around Phra Prang Sam Yot in Lopburi, but fewer than in the past. Many were relocated by authorities due to overpopulation. Please note that Lopburi is not a zoo; the monkeys are wild and roam freely, so sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Stop At: Lopburi Province This history-rich city has more to offer than just cheeky monkeys! Walking around the old town, you’ll discover ancient Khmer-style temple ruins, Buddhist temples with gleaming Buddha statues, and you’ll be deeply immersed in the unique local Thai atmosphere.
The total duration includes traveling time from Lopburi back to Bangkok.

Tickets are not included Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon was founded in the second half of the 14th century during the reign of King U Thong, first ruler of Ayutthaya.

Stop At: Wat Mahathat Admission Ticket:
Tickets are not included Wat Mahathat is believed to be one of Ayutthaya's oldest temples. The temple include remains of important old buildings such as pagodas, octagonal pagodas, royal hall, small temples, and the famous sand-stone Ayutthaya-style head of the Buddha image in a tree's root.

Stop At: Wat Phra Sri Sanphet Admission Ticket:
Tickets are not included Wat Phra Sri Sanphet is situated on the city island in Ayutthaya’s World Heritage park. The three main chedis which have been restored contain the ashes of three Ayutthaya kings. It has been registered as a national historic site by the Fine Arts Department.

Regarding our visit to Lopburi: You must always remember that, no matter what, monkeys are wild animals, not pets. Even though they may look cute, especially the young ones, we always recommend to keep your distance, not bring any food with you and keep all your belongings in your bag. You don't need to come close as it’s just as fun to watch the monkeys from a distance. There are still monkeys around Phra Prang Sam Yot in Lopburi, but fewer than in the past. Many were relocated by authorities due to overpopulation. Please note that Lopburi is not a zoo; the monkeys are wild and roam freely, so sightings cannot be guaranteed. Bangkok’s traffic can be heavily congested. As our tours run on a group basis, we can wait a maximum of 10 minutes after the scheduled meeting time. After this grace period, the guide will begin the tour. If you cannot make it on time, please let us know before the tour starts. If possible, we’ll do our best to reschedule you for the next available day, though a rescheduling fee will apply. No refund will be provided in case of late arrival. Cancellations made at least 24 hours before the tour start time are eligible for a full refund. For cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance or in case of no-show, no refund will be issued. Cancellations due to weather are not eligible for a refund. The exact departure time from the meeting point will be sent to you via private message on the booking platform one day before the tour. Please check your email (including your junk/spam folder) carefully the day before your tour to avoid any delays or missed departures. Depending on the number of participants, departure from the meeting point will be between 7:30 and 8:00 hrs. For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Our guide was amazing and so was our drive. Very friendly and very informative. Eager to make sure our needs were met.
The monkeys at the first stop were not as active as I’d hoped but that’s nature and out of everyone’s control. I guess ask the guide about snacks before you get there and arrange something to attract the monkeys if you really want to do that.
The ancient temples were interesting and fun very old and beautiful they aged very well and I’m sure will continue to age gracefully.

He showed up some traditional things to do at the temples, is extremely easy to talk to about the sites and Thai life in general. He also took so many nice photos of us at everything we saw. Piya was the best guide ever! He was so knowledgeable and friendly! I learned so much about Thailand from him! He also directed us to great photo ops and took pics of each of us in the group. I had an amazing trip to Ayutthaya and Lopburi! One of the highlights was definitely seeing so many monkeys in Lopburi, from tiny adorable babies to older ones. It was such a fun and unique experience getting to see them up close and even feed them!
A special thanks to my tour guide, Joyce, who was absolutely wonderful! He was super friendly, helpful, and genuinely put in a lot of effort to make sure I had the best experience possible. He also helped me take some fantastic pictures, which made the trip even more memorable.

I had an amazing experience with our tour guide Joyce, in Thailand! From the very beginning, our guide was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. My family (2 adults, 2 children 11 and 16) had a brilliant day with our guide Piya. He was very knowledgeable, fun to be around and kind.
It was a long trip in the minibus to Lopburi (2 hours), but Piya took us to see the monkeys which was really good. There aren’t many monkeys left in the city but Piya knew where to find them! Our next stop was at a spot where a family of monkeys live. We fed them and they were very friendly. They climbed on us and we had a brilliant encounter.
Then we drove about 20 minutes to Ayuthya where we visit temples and palaces. Piya had so much knowledge to share we us. He was great.
Then we went for a lunch at a lovely restaurant which was very reasonably priced (£18 for a family of 4) and was air conditioned which was appreciated after the humid weather.
Lastly Piya gave us a choice of temples and we chose to visit Wat Phanan Choeng which was amazing. The huge gold plated Buddha was a truly amazing site.
I would recommend this tour if you want to find out about the history of Thailand and also have an up close encounter with the macaques. It was a long day but well worth it.

This tour was an excellent introduction to Thailand and exceeded my expectations. All park admission fees were included and covered by the guide, which made the experience hassle-free from start to finish.
Be prepared for a full day of sightseeing and plenty of walking, especially if you’re visiting during the hot July weather. The staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and knowledgeable throughout the day. Our guide, Piya, did an outstanding job explaining the history and significance of each temple, making the experience both educational and engaging.
The restaurant selected for lunch served delicious, authentic Thai food at very reasonable prices. One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the monkey park, which was a unique and memorable experience.
Overall, the team did a fantastic job creating a well-organized, enjoyable, and informative tour. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Thailand for the first time.
