The tour was very well organized, and they paid great attention to our dietary needs and preferences. Amp was incredibly friendly and shared so much interesting information about the food and the local area. It was both fascinating and delicious! Thank you for this wonderful experience—we would book this tour again anytime. One tip from us: Don't eat too much beforehand, because you'll get to enjoy plenty of amazing food during the tour!

We had May as a tour guide and she was fantastic, lots of amazing food we would probably have never found on our own. We'll worth the money. Recommend 100%
Lovely experience the tour guide Jonki was very attentive to details and our needs as a family especially for our 8 years old son: the restaurants and the food was fantastic and the flowers market was very special. We had smooth and fun time all through. Highly recommended
My wife and I were on our honeymoon and wanted to get to know the local culture, history and food so we booked this food tour. We had no idea what to expect and were a little nervous but we got super lucky because we got paired with May! She truly made the whole experience aMAYzing! She was so kind, knowledgable and really good at her job. Not only did she teach us about the food but we learned so much about the people and culture of Thailand in this tour. I would highly recommend to ask for her if possible. For us speaking English only she was very easy to understand, punctual and communicated very clear instructions to us regarding meeting point for the start of the tour well in advance. She knew all the questions we wanted to know without us even asking them and made us feel very comfortable the entire time. She was great about capturing photos along the way and after the tour she sent us a list and description of all the things we ate as well as additional recommendations for the rest of our time in Thailand. We are so happy to say that she was the first Thai friend we made on our trip!
Nuch was amazing!! Genuinely enthusiastic about the history and contents of the food. Very flexible with incorporating specifics that we wanted to try as well. Very kind lady and very lovely tour
Food was soooo good. Outstanding guide was kind and fun to talk to. Interesting cultural information. Many stops for food. Not too much or too little walking.
Tukta was the best guide. She coupled information on the origins of the different foods and their cultural meanings with the country’s cultural history. I learned a lot and eat even more. No regrets!!!
What an experience to see Bangkok through its food. We would never have seen or tasted the food of Bangrak neighborhood without this tour. Food was delicious, if not a little too spicy for some in our group. Tukta was an amazing guide. She was personable, laughed together, and we learned much about life in Bangkok. Highly recommend this tour.
Had a great time at Bangrak, not far from Bangkok city center, with Tukta our friendly tour guide. Got to taste authentic Thai food in small neighbourhoods. Aroi! The pandan custard bread and milk tea at that bakery is truly life changing. Must-do tour for food lovers :)
We met our guide Preme at the Saphan Taskin BTS station. After a short walk we reached our first stop where we had roast duck with a special bean sauce. I'm not a huge fan of duck, but this was one of the better ones we had this trip. We then stopped for a drink of bitter water. If anyone knows me, I have a hard time with anything bitter. Preme suggested I try something a bit sweeter. It had a medicinal taste, but was pretty good. Fish ball noodle soup was next on the list. If we had one complaint about this tour, it was there was a lot of food as the portion sizes were full portions. I gave each fish ball a try, but as I'm on medication that controls my appetite, I wanted to pace myself for what was to come. Grilled Pork was next on the list. It was delicious. I think it was the sweet and tangy sauce that made this dish. To make room for more food we wandered around the area and looked at some local temples before stopping at the cutest little bakery for some Pandan Custard Buns and tea. The buns were heavenly. I couldn't get over how soft they were! We even got the chance to peek in the kitchen to see where the magic was made. I couldn't believe how much that small kitchen could produce! I'm drawing a blank on our next dish, but I believe it was a beef stew (beef in Massaman curry is coming to mind). We then walked by some local schools including Assumption Convent. Preme had gone to a similar school growing up. Taking a boat to the other side of the river, we headed down a local alley to a local shop called Yum Rod Sab where we had Lotus Stem Som Tum and Lemongrass Fried Chicken. We were pretty full by this point, so we took the chicken to go to have for a snack later. We walked over to Icon Siam where Preme showed us the beautiful view from the Starbucks patio on the top floor. We then headed down to SookSiam in the lower level for dessert which was a delicious Thai banana pancake. Normally the tour ends at the BTS Charoen Nakhon Station, but as the Icon Siam was a quick boat ride across the river from our hotel, we said our goodbyes to Preme right after dessert. We thought this tour was excellent and well thought out. It was fantastic to be able to see some of the local points of interest during the tour. Preme was a fabulous guide.
My friends and I had a fantastic food and cultural tour, thanks to our enthusiastic and fun guide, Neung! She was super friendly and accommodated all our dietary needs during the tour. Neung not only helped us understand the history of each dish/establishment, but also gave insights into the different places we visited. She also happily answered all our questions throughout the tour. By the end, we all made a new friend. Overall, it was a great experience, and we all left with a happy tummy! Thank you so much Neung and Bangkok Food Tours for this experience. Would highly recommend it to everyone.
Tukta did an amazing job! She took us to different restaurants and every dish was so delicious. Her knowledge regarding the culture, city and dishes really made us enthusiastic about trying more food in Thailand. Everything was clean and hygienic. Also, she took wonderful pictures during the day, which helped us remember this amazing trip. Thanks Tukta! Kind regards, Ton & Madelon
This tour proved to be truly exceptional. During our inaugural visit to Thailand, accompanied by my spouse, Chanya served as our tour guide. After nearly two weeks exploring the Bangkok area, we concluded our trip with this tour. It exceeded our expectations and stood out as the best among the dozen tours we had undertaken in the preceding weeks. My only regret is not commencing our Bangkok experience with this remarkable tour. It masterfully combined culinary delights with cultural immersion, far surpassing the typical "food tours" that often rush participants from one bite to the next. I wholeheartedly recommend this tour to my friends and family; it's unquestionably the finest in Bangkok.
Tukta was the best guide. She was so engaging and told us so many interesting things about the food and Bangkok. Her knowledge and friendliness coupled with the fantastic food and drinks at each place she took us made it a fabulous experience. Would definitely recommend to anyone. 5 star experience.
Tukta looked after us so well! We have such a great day learning so much about the foods of Bangkok and the history. We got to try many new foods and see many places. Thank you
Our guide, Tukta, helped us to discover such great place to eat Thai food!! We went to places where you don’t go if you don’t have a local guide!! Thanks for this experience! In addition, going back to our hotel with the taxi boat and then the tuktuk, was an experience too! Thanks again!
My wife and I did this tour today with Tukta and had a fantastic afternoon trying all sorts of food that we would never ordinarily try - and in places we we never find. On top of that, Tukta was so informative, helpful, and interested in making the tour so successful for us. What a great finish to our trip to Bangkok from Australia. I highly recommend this trip - and try all the food!
Great experience . Tuktha was so knowledgeable. Not much walking involved . One river crossing for the last stop. I enjoyed all the stops we made . Got my money worth , great for food lovers with a big appetite and you get your full of history and Thai culture . Thank you so much BKK food tour .
Amazing experience! The food was excellent and Tukta was such an informative and sweet tour guide. My sister and I really enjoyed our time with her she’s the best!
Our tour guide Tukta was awesome. She took me and my wife to different places in historic bangrak district to taste different foods from no spice to a bit spicy foods including pastry, pork bbq in a stick while stroll through the streets, and we end it with a delicious ice cream. The food tasting is a must for first timers like us to familiarize ourselves with the level of spice in the food as well as it opened our views to different varieties of Thai foods.
Our tour guide Tutka was awesome! The food choices was delicious and abundant. We went back to the hotel sleepy after 6 food trips😊
We did this tour with Tukta and our 4 kids (11-17 years) and all had a great time. We ate in some places and tried food we wouldn’t have without a guide. Everything was delicious and we were ridiculously full at the end. Lots of fun and highly recommend it. Tukta was also a great guide and very helpful when Miss 14 was feeling nauseous from motion sickness.
We loved this food tour, and our guide, Tukta, was top notch – she told us not just about the cuisine we were sampling but about Thai culture too. Dishes like the lotus root salad, duck and rice and Pandan custard bun gave us a glimpse into all facets of Thailand's vast array of cooking styles. We would not hesitate to recommend this tour, and would advise not to eat breakfast before you come!
Great food tour. Knowledgeable guide with excellent food choices. Breakfast not needed beforehand… I felt like the tour gave us a good knowledge of the local area.
I'm writing this a little late, but I was looking back at photos of my trip (actually in December 2018) and realized I had missed a review on this tour. This should tell you how good it was! This food tour was amazing! There was great explanation about the food preparation as well as the history of the city - and most importantly it was all delicious. Mod was a fantastic guide and I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for a true local experience!
We had the most phenomenal time exploring and eating with Mod! Cannot recommend spending time in this city with her enough. She's an incredible guide, and we're lucky to call her a new friend! Can't recommend enough -- but do come hungry!
Taking this tour of Bangrak neighborhood--a real vibrant community of businesses, schools, and homes--was a highlight of our trip. Yiwah is a first hand expert who grew up here. She was super knowledgeable and friendly and happy to answer and talk about all our questions about life in Bangkok as well as the foods we tried. She had a good sense of humor! The other tour attendees were fun and friendly, too. You will meet some neat people on these tours. At the end, I felt like I understood Thai and Thai fusion cuisine better. We had some great restaurants to go back to on another trip and I feel more confident about finding new ones!
Our tour guide was Mod, and she wonderful! We walked around the streets as she taught us about the food, the customs and the people of Bangkok. She showed us food and Flower markets. We tried a variety of foods as we walking around the streets and took a ferry to the other side of the river. Mod is very knowledgeable and entertaining as well. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip!
Yiwah was a friendly and knowledgeable guide and the tour took us to try delicious food in an area and at restaurants I would never know to try if by myself. Great way to spend half a day in Bangkok.
We really enjoyed our time with Mod. My dad particularly enjoyed the roasted duck on rice, and I loved the Thai iced milk tea, papaya salad and many other things. Mod was hilarious - full of jokes in addition to great knowledge about the food scene in Bangkok. One warning though: try not to eat ANYTHING in the 3-4 hours before your tour and do not stuff yourselves at the food stops, or you won't have room for all the delicious tastings!
Yiwah was a perfect guide, telling us everything about Bangkoks food culture and more. Bang Rak is a very nice neighbourhood, much less tourictic as other neighbourhoods. Yiwah took us to amazing, very authentic places, we wouldn't have find without her!
We booked a private tour with Historic Bangrak Food Tasting and Culture Tour through our travel consultant Allison of Sodha Travel. This was a fantastic way to experience this aspect of Thailand. Our nice and interesting guide took us to a neighborhood with few tourists where locals live and eat. We had a variety of fresh Thai dishes cooked right in front of us and our guide was able to translate and take care of all the details. I highly recommend this tour.
My tour with our guide Nuch was better than I could have hoped for. I'd originally expressed interest in the Thonburi tour but they were unable to accommodate as I was the only one to sign up (totally fair). They immediately suggested the Bangrak tour as an alternative. I'm glad I took them up on their offer. I met with Nuch at the local BTS station and from there we walked a short ways (~ 5 minutes) to our first destination. Each of the restaurants we went to had great food. Nuch not only provided deep insight into what we were eating (ingredients, method of preparation, etc), but also into cultural and historical aspects of the area as well. I would recommend this tour to anyone. One note though - many of the dishes were served "family style" (i.e. from a common dish). This didn't bother me at all, but I thought I'd mention it. Also, come hungry. One of the members of the couple I was on the tour with had a light breakfast and I think she regretted it. Along those same lines, I'm a fairly big eater and I walked away more than satisfied.
My brother and I enjoyed this street food tour on Christmas Day from 9.30am to 12.30pm. Our guide Nuch was wonderful - she was extremely knowledgeable about the area and was very enthusiastic in sharing the food and general experience with us. Definitely worth it!
Awesome experience, our tour guide Chanya was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and gave us a good feel for bangkok
Perfect combination of the discovery of various types of food and environment. Each one will find its pleasure.
We were very impressed with our guide. She was extremely knowledgeable about these restaurants, the region and culture as well as all about food in general. This is the second time we have done this (five years apart) and this one was more fun because our guide was very lively and personable, and her English was excellent! We enjoyed this again and we would recommend this to anyone who wants to explore some of the culinary delights offered in Bangkok.
A very pleasant tour with our friendly and fun guide, Ms. Chanya. Thai culture is known for absorbing outside influences and making them its own, with Thai cuisine being a perfect example, though we didn't understand how much this was the case until taking this informative and tasty tour. I recommend this tour if you have a free morning in Bangkok. The dishes we tasted included expected favorites such as green curry and mango sticky rice, but also a range of perhaps slightly less well-known dishes such as larb, mataba, medicinal teas, and others. Well worth it!
Opportunity to enjoy the kind of Thai food that I would not have been able to find on my own. Lilly, our tour guide, was knowledgeable and funny! Thanks Lilly.
We were guided on the Bang Rak food tour by the wonderful Lily. She was very knowledgeable and tailored the tour to suit our family making it interesting for our son 10yrs. We visited several family restaurants as well as some local sites. The walking isn't too vigerous and stops were often & some of the restaurants have airconditioning. We tasted duck; crispy pork belly; chicken masaman; Green curry chicken with Thai roti, tamarind ice cream, Pandan buns; chicken knuckles & catfish floss all delicious. Highly recommended. Easy to book and organise direct.
We would have enjoyed this more had we not just had a really authentic experience with ABC Biking Tours the day before. We tried many different dishes across Bangkok restaurants, although in retrospect I think we would have preferred to book a tour that involved more street food since we ended up eating these same dishes at other restaurants during our stay in Thailand.
We thoroughly enjoyed our foodie experience of historic Bang rak with our guide Lily. She was enthusiastic, knowledgable and fun. We loved all family run businesses she took us to - places we would have been unaware of as tourists - but in each one the food was superb. A really well thought out and planned tour - a great mixture of restaurants and through the food we were able to learn so much more about Thai culture and the history of the area. Loved spending the morning with Lily - she was the perfect host. I would definitly recommend anyone interested in food or Thai culture to do this tour!
Lily, our guide, was amazing! Not only did she take us to great and sometimes hidden local eateries to try delicious Thai food, she also knew the history of each location she took us to. She was very kind, informative and also funny! We felt very comfortable and confident walking around Bangrak with Lily as our guide. We even learned and practiced some basic Thai sayings with her! She happily answered all of our questions about Thai culture/life throughout the tour. Overall an unforgettable experience! Thank you Lily! -Ryan and Vanessa
Excellent tour, very knowledgeable guide and delicious food! The walk through Bangrak was pleasant and we learned a lot about the history of the Village of Love.
My sister had done this tour previously and recommended it to us. And we were not disappointed! Lily was a Thai local and knew all the best places to eat, took us on a great tour and told us some of the history of the area. She was able to answer all the questions we had about the area and its history and traditions. It was relaxed, delicious, informative and fun! Next time I'm in Thailand I plan to try the other tours ( I want to do them all!!!)- already looking forward to it! I really recommend this tour group! One tip- don't eat the meal before your tour- you seriously need to go hungry!
Totally enjoyed the walking food tour in the Bang Rak area. Our guide Lily was very knowledgeable and added a real personal touch to the tour. The food was excellent.
The guide was very knowledgeable, the food choices gave a good variety, walking was hot though, we switched from the night food tour to this one because of flight times but didn't realise this one didn't use the Tuk tuk's
Really enjoyed our tour with Lily. I've done this food tour before (perhaps 6 years ago) and enjoyed it just as much a second. Great food stops and Lily was a sweet and informative guide. Good idea as an introduction to Bangkok and getting to know the food. We even returned to the first stop for dinner that night.
This has to be the most upmarket food tour I have ever done. Our guide was very professional, spoke great English. Was very considerate of my parents. Lots of restaurants with aircon and seconds was never an issue. Even let us wonder off into the shops without an issue. Great variety of food tasted and she even wrote down everything we ate for us. Highly recommended
Great food tour this morning with our guide Lily. Highly appreciated: nice guide, nice group... and great food :) Definitely recommended !
