Itinerary
The JEATH War Museum is dedicated to the story of the men who worked on the Death Railway. The acronym JEATH stands for the different nationalities of the POWs that worked on the construction of the railway between 1942 and 1943: Japan, England, America, Australia, Thailand and Holland (The Netherlands). The museum displays the actual items that were used for the construction of the Death Railway and it exhibits a large number of photographs taken by prisoners at the time. One of the three galleries featuring photos is housed within a bamboo hut that’s an exact replica of the shelters that the POWs (Prisoners of War) lived in during this time. The museum is also home to a bomb dropped by the allies to destroy the bridge but that failed to explode. NOTE: TOTAL TIME IS INCLUDING TRAVELING TIME FROM BANGKOK TO KANCHANABURI
The Bridge on the River Kwai was part of a strategic railway route to Burma in which the Japanese aimed to secure supplies with which to conquer other western Asian countries. It was 415 kilometres long and passed through the Three Pagodas Pass in Sangkhlaburi District, the northern most part of Kanchanaburi province. The Japanese Imperial Army brought the iron bridge from Java during the Japanese occupation of Thailand in World War II. It was then resembled by Allied Prisoners of War (POW) under Japanese supervision. Visiting the River Kwai Bridge and the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery encourages one to contemplate the intolerable treatment Allied prisoners of war, Thais, Burmese and Malayans were subjected to under the Japanese Imperial Army during the construction of the notorious Burma Railway, better known as Death Railway. The work on the railway was completed in 16 months, despite calculations by Japanese engineers that the construction would take at least 5 years!
Founded in 1975 as Thailand’s 12th National Park, the Erawan National Park is home to one of the most popular waterfalls in the country. The major attraction of the park is the 7-tiered Erawan Falls with emerald green ponds. The fall is called after the three-headed elephant from Hindu mythology as the top cataract resembles it. Here you have enough time for a refreshing swim right in the middle of the jungle or even walk to the top level of the waterfalls (if weather permits). Do not forget to bring swimwear and a towel. Excellent day out. Very interesting and we were well looked after. Good food recommendations for lunch too!
This was a great tour with a fabulous tour guide Nak. Very knowledgeable and so helpful to make sure we all had a great day and taking lots of photos for me to make sure I had the memories! Thank you for such a fabulous day!
Surina was outstanding. She took time to educate me on Thai culture and where ever we went it seemed everyone knew her. She helped take many different photos and videos for me while I enjoyed the falls and connected with me on WhatsApp to send. Highly recommended!
The driver and guide was very nice and helpful.
I had a great experience with this tour! Our tour guide, Surin, was friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable, making the trip more enjoyable and memorable. The driver was also professional, punctual, and made sure we traveled safely and comfortably throughout the tour. Both of them were helpful and made everything smooth and hassle-free. I truly appreciate their excellent service and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a great tour experience. Thank you for making the trip worthwhile! Highly recommended! 😊✨
Had a nice day with tour guide Surin. Very enthusiastic and open to personalizing your tour. Is quite a long drive to Erawan but it was worth visiting for the waterfalls and the wildlife. Was a little crowded but I think that's to be expected.
Excellent experience. This was my second time and we had a beautiful day. It’s a long drive but it’s a great day out of the city! Only negative, the choices or options were not clear on the website. I booked the transfer by mistake - it’s not clearly defined on the website - and neither Trip Advisor nor the tour company would refund the difference, even though I immediately contacted them. Not said the other had to improve it. The tours it’s was worth it
Very kindly and adaptable, 3 hours is the minimum time requested to claim all the falls side .
Na was a great guide who took great photos for my tour group. Nice professional looking photos.
Sorina was so sweet and kind; very accommodating so the group could spend more time at the falls and enjoy lunch at the food stalls (stall #5 was delicious by the way-make sure to get the fried rice). Great tour guide and friendly. Would book again if we are ever in Thailand.
I was the sole member of the tour today so I had the guide all to myself. The trip was very enjoyable, both the driver and the guide were very fun people and the trip is overall well planned. The guide is also very knowledgeable not just about the history, but about great places for photos aswell. You have just enough time to visit all of the main points of interest. I was taking my sweet time at the Erawan waterfalls and still had about half an hour left to eat. 100% would recommend.
Surina was so sweet! She made me feel taken care of. She even gifted me a small crystal and shared some of her fruit with us. Very comfortable van and cold water. Only suggestion is to use the restroom before getting picked up! The waterfalls are magical ✨️ 😍
Tour was great and tour guide and driver were awesome
Fantastic. Driver met where we had arranged and was friendly. Going early meant we were there before the crowds. Guide was picked up on the way and very helpful. Knew what she was talking about. Loves photography, so knew where and how to get the best photos. Longboat ride to bridge is included. Walk across bridge and driver meets us there. Waterfalls were great. Again guide very helpful. Can get a golf cart up to first level, saves your energy for the walk up to the falls. I went up to 4th level. Lunch was lovely and freshly made. Guide knew best spot. Drive back was good. Definitely pay to take the toll way!
It was very easy to get to falls. You can get a cart upto the first waterfalls. In the water you get a fish spa as well as the most beautiful falls to view. The guide knows english very well.
We had an amazing time with Nah seeing these beautiful waterfalls! They are a must-see. Since it was just the two of us we rearranged the day to go to the falls first which was great because they were nearly empty when we arrived. Honestly we could have easily stayed an extra hour since we hiked all the way to the 7th level. Lunch in the park was delicious and then the experience from the bridge to the museum was expectedly enjoyable since we got to take a speedboat down the river. Nah was so fun and full of personality- we enjoyed her energy and she acted as our own personal photographer for the day! Highly recommend this experience!
Good! It was good, I liked the falls!
Great experience. Guide was excellent and very informative and helpful at taking photos.
We had a great entertaining day full of history thanks to our great guide Ken.
We had a fantastic day with a short boat trip up the river khwae and crossed the bridge on foot. Our guide was very helpfull an informative. The national park was beutiful, but to swim in the first four levels you needed a life jacket, which removed some of the fun (only 20thb to rent). Still a fun trip, people in bad shape can enjoy the lower levels and people in avrage shape can enjoy a nice hike through the jungel all the way to level 7.
Really great tour, educational for the first part and some beautiful waterfalls to swim in for the second part.
I thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Kuhn Arjan was really helpful and knowledgeable. I am definitely returning on this trip again .
Informative guide about the death railway, beautiful trip through the jungle and amazing views of the waterfalls and great swim spots. Afterwards was taken to eat at shop 7 and had such amazing Thai food and smoothies
Lovely time, thank you for the great experience🙏
Amazing tour! Na the guide and Nuvo the driver were absolutely fantastic! Very engagand informative went above and beyond and treated me amazingly! Would definitely recommend and this tour is underrated value for money 10x
Had the best time. Na was the best guide! Thank you
I loved this! Na was an excellent guide, she is full of life, smart and excellent at taking and guiding for photos. Na was very helpful, took us via the BEST and cheapest Thai restaurant, seriously best meal I’ve had. The whole thing was comfortable and well organised, I loved it.
Once again Mr kraising didn't disappoint us.. We planned a couple trip to Kanchanaburi from Bangkok. The ride was long, but going up to the waterfall, having a natural fish spa at level 3 was amazing. The death railway train ride was enjoyable but it felt a bit dark with memories of the place. We thoroughly went through dinner at keeree mantra restaurant, sampling Thai authentic dishes. We recommend this guy.. @letmedrivethailand on Facebook.. This was our second time booking him for Thailand trips.
The tour to the was a great experience, the museum, The Bridge On The River Kwai and Eraean Waterfalls. Both our tour operator and driver were friendly and courteous. Lunch at Erawan Waterfalls restaurant was delicious. I highly recommend on going this tour with this company ❤️🙏
Such a wonderful experience, the place is amazing, many waterfalls, there are fishes that also do free pedicure 😂, the guide was so nice, told me many stories, helped me to get cheap souvenirs, really kind person.
Tour Guide Na was very accommodating, she was professional yet friendly at the same time. She was approachable and has good personality. The driver was also a good driver. I highly recommend booking the tour with the Tour Guide Na. The Tour gave us an amazing experience here in thailand. Will recommend to my friends in the future. Love from heart, from elisa and glorie from the Philippines.
We caught a grab to the travel office in Chinatown,we got there we got invited in inside, nice aircon, then our driver turned up,I forgot his name ,then we started our drive to bridge over river Kwai and erawan falls,it took us nearly 2.5 hrs to get there,we met our guide Na she was very good indeed, explained everything about the railway and the museum, the prisoners of wars ,were treated terrible by the Japanese soldiers,if you didn't work you were punished, then we caught a boat down the river to the bridge, that was excited, then walked over the bridge, the railway so to take 3 years, but they were made to it in 18 months,100,000 soldiers died, then we left there and went to the erawan falls in the national park,,which were 1 hr away,we got there Na walked with us to waterfall 2 ,my wife went by the waterfall and we took photos, then Na left us and we walked up to waterfall 5,that was hard work, but I did it,it made me proud at 54 yrs old,I beat some of the young people.then we walked back down,my wife got dressed put the life jacket back, then we got the buggy back to the entrance,I would say have lunch before you go to the falls. I enjoyed it so much.defintely recommend it.
Even though it was raining, the day was lovely. A little bit of variety with the war museum and boat ride, topped with a walk (we went to 5) and swimming in 3 and 2. Not too many people, and good amount of time. Food was great. Nah (tour guide) and our driver were friendly too!
Amazing! Love the waterfall and the kwai river. It’s a must do to get out of hectic Bangkok. Beautiful lush rain forest
Our guide was very friendly, informative, personal and spoke English very well which all added to our trip. The JEATH Museum and death railway were very moving in their atrocity. It was good to follow this with the trip to the Erawan Falls which were very picturesque and a stark contrast to the inhumanity suffered by the POWs. Our driver, was also very friendly and did his best to converse in English, using his translator app to explain further. It was a very good trip combining history, culture and nature.
Fun full day experience. Drove from Bangkok out to the JEATH Museum. Guide was very knowledgeable about the history. We then rode the long boat up to the bridge and got to walk across across the Bridge on the River Kwai. From there it was up to the Erawan Waterfalls for a very cheap lunch and then swimming in the falls. Stopped at the War Cemetery on the way back. Fun day.
Really enjoyable and thought provoking trip to the Bridge over the River Kwai and the JEATH War Museum.
I had a great time with the tour. Enjoyed the historical perspective of the experience and the locations.
My experience was absolutely incredible and my tour guide (I forgot her name was amazing and so knowledgable) I was the only one on this tour yesterday so it was really nice getting her individual attention to questions that I had! The driver as well was very nice and courteous as well! Also I'd like to thank Wander Slam for a job well done!
Interesting tour of the history of the Bridge over the River Kwai. Waterfalls were wonderful. Refreshing and beautiful. It was a bit startling to have large fish picking at your dead skin on the 4th waterfall, but unique.
It was a good experience. I enjoyed the bridge over river kwai best. The waterfalls were very beautiful but you better be on shape if you want to go beyond level 5 waterfall. JEATH museum was just okay but our guide did a good job explaining the history behind the death railroad construction.
This is an excellent day trip. The itinerary is well designed—we enjoyed visiting the River Kwai and learning about the history of the bridge. Erawan Falls is beautiful and truly unique. Our guide, Na, was fantastic—energetic, professional, friendly, and passionate about her job. She is also a great photographer and took many wonderful photos for us. Our driver was excellent as well—safe, kind, and friendly. I highly recommend this trip.
Excellent experience and value! Our guide Nan was very knowledgeable about the death railway and its history, and we appreciated the combined experience of seeing the River Kwai as well as Erawan. Nan's enthusiasm and knowledge really made the trip!
Great tour to JEATH museum and river Kwai bridge then onto Erawan Falls. Great service from guide and driver.
Beautiful experience. Bring watershoes as there are fish in the wager that want to say hi to your feet
Had the best time with my tour guide! She took the best pictures of me and was very helpful and knowledgeable about area. The national park is a never ending sea of waterfalls and is any nature lovers dream! Would definitely recommend this trip with this company!
Great tour! We were the only ones booked for the day. The tour went splendidly. The JEATH Museum was very interesting and Na our guide was very informative and super friendly! The Kwai river bridge is a great piece of history. We took a long boat from the museum and then had the opportunity to walk the bridge. Amazing! The falls were beautiful and they do offer golf cart rides to the first waterfall which is great if you want to spend less time walking and more time swimming and enjoying the beautiful views. Thanks to WanderSiam and our guide Na and our awesome driver!
I thoroughly enjoyed this tour - it’s a great way to get out of Bangkok and see some of the surrounding area. The visit to the River Kwai bridge was interesting, especially if you’re old enough to remember the ‘fifties film (which was filmed in Sri Lanka, according to guide Na). But, the highlight for me was hiking around the beautiful Erewan waterfalls and going for a swim - very memorable. WanderSiam seems like a really good tour operator - the day was well-planned and went smoothly. They even have a physical office! Tour guide Na was great. She’s a local expert and made the day interesting and fun. Highly recommended!
Both driver Novu and tour guide Na are really friendly and passionate about showing you everything around. Novu can speak bit English and Na speak great English. I received 2 water bottles. Such a Vip tour. Na gives you best tips and makes sure you got the best pics
