Itinerary
Offering this tour both in the morning as well as in the afternoon, our guide and driver pick you up from your hotel in Bangkok for 4 hours of getting an impression of the most stunning temples of Bangkok and the Grand Palace, Bangkok’s well-known building that breaths grandeur. Our tour commences at the temple with the invaluable Golden Buddha. Located in Bangkok’s thriving Chinatown district, Wat Trimitr (also called Wat Traimit) is best known as the home of the largest known solid gold Buddha image in the world. Standing at 15 feet tall and weighing in at approximately 5.5 tons, this 700-year old statue has an interesting history.
Driving through Chinatown, we arrive shortly at the grounds of Wat Po. This large and extensive temple neighbours the Grand Palace enclave and contains a gigantic gold plated Reclining Buddha, some 46 meters long and 15 meters high, with beautifully inlaid mother-of-pearl soles. Considered to be one of the worlds’ most famous temples, Wat Pho is also regarded as the first centre of public education and is sometimes called ‘Thailand’s first university’
Situated close to the Chao Phraya, Bangkok’s River of Kings, the Grand Palace occupies nearly one square mile. The former royal residence of the Chakri Kings, the palace is the perfect example of an ancient Siamese court. Built in 1782 by King Rama I, it was the centre of power for more than 150 years. Today, the palace is Bangkok's major landmark and most popular tourist attraction and is often used for the occasional ceremony. The interiors of most of the buildings in the Grand Palace are closed to the public. After this introduction to Thai Buddhist temples and the home of the former Kings of Thailand, we bring you back to your hotel.

It was a great tour. Suree was the best tour guide ever!!! She was a pleasure and so knowledgeable!!!
We've just finished 12 magnificent days in Thailand (Bangkok, Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai and Krabi). Many thanks to everyone for their invaluable tips and advice, but especially to the spectacular Khun Sai. See you (soon) in Thailand!
Excellent private tour with a guide KANOKRAT. She was very knowledgeable, and it was interesting to listen to her. She took a lot of photos of me and, upon my request, she took me to a lovely cafe for lunch. Great experience overall!
Great to see a must if you’re in Bangkok! The guide was excellent, the driver didn’t show up though but she managed to get us to all the destinations via taxi and tuk tuk drivers which was good to experience !
AVOID! I just want also to let you know that - I have 30 years of tours/traveling so this is not my first experience - This is a private tour (but, honestly, 80% of what I am going to write would be bad for a group trip too….) and the price isn’t cheap - After this excursion we had very good tours, so, yes, we were unlucky You can just read title of each point or read the whole thing if you want to know more. 1) English tour guide and no English 😳 ? The guide (Mark) speaks little to no English. To the extent that when we were asking questions slowly, the broken English answers he gave were unrelated to the topic. 2) A real tour guide? - During our car trip to the different attractions Mark didn’t give us any context: we didn’t know we were going, what we would see, and the location’s basic history. Zil, none, zero, nada… we tried multiple times in different ways to let him know we wanted to know more. It always fell on deaf ears. The trip was him either talking to the driver or on his phone. - All the information he gave us was a game of true or false. We would get out of the car and all he would say was “we are at X/Y/Z”. As afore mentioned, he gave very basic information: when asking other guides afterwards, we discovered what he said to be mostly wrong. Since he was checking Google most of the time to answer at our basic questions, I am wondering why he didn’t get the info right? - For Thai people the Royal family has an immense value. This guide wasn’t able to even distinguish one king from another (not even to say if the figure portrayed was a king or not 👀 ) , even in front of photos. This left us wondering whether he even is a real tour guide. 3) Let’s keep up with the pace! Mark would quickly walk ahead, neither waiting for us nor checking where we were, leaving us slightly lost at times. 4) History and math test time! I think this is less important but was a kind of the cherry on top of the pie. - His answers assumed we were already aware of every step in Thai history and that what he was saying was common knowledge. - When we were asking for dates on events/buildings, Mark replied using the Thai calendar. When asking for clarification, he would always say either 100 or 250 years ago, which we later discovered was also not true for most information. To sum up, RUN away from this tour!
Ms. Nipaporn was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable about all the sites. Made sure to get us into the sites promptly even if they were very busy. Would recommend this short tour for anyone wanting to see 3 of the best sites to visit in Bangkok!! Don't hesitate and ask for Ms. Nipaporn.
The guide Grace was very informative and worked hard to make sure we had a great time. The temples and palace are amazing works of art. Highly recommend this tour!
You can visit the templates and the palace on your own but it is not the same without have someone explain the history and architecture of the building. Our guide was very pleasant and professional. We enjoy the tour very much.
It was great to be picked up at our hotel and taken in an air-conditioned car to the major sights. Our guide and driver made it easy to see everything, and they were nice and helpful. They listened to our requests, for example to visit the interesting Textile Museum at the Royal Palace, which most people don't see. (It also has an excellent gift shop.) Our only critique is that the guide had a heavy accent in English, and it could be hard to understand her at times. But the tour was very much worth doing, and we saw a great deal in one afternoon.
My guide was very knowledgeable and it was like a class in Thai Buddhism in 4 hours. The temples and the Grand Place are just stunning and it was nice to have a guide to keep the touts at bay at the Place as they can be relentless. Well worth the cost and would recommend the tour to Bangkok visitors.
Would highly recommend to all. Our guide was very friendly and very informative. Excellent service and would do again.
Really enjoyed this tour. Lina our guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. Royal palace and Wat Pho are such beautiful to visit
Pickup was on time, the ride was smooth enough, the guide was trying his best, the three sites are interesting. Other than the hot weather, we had a good experience.
Our guide was friendly and well informed! It was comfortable and great to see the most important sites of Bangkok.
Nina was our tour guide for a private tour, and she was great! Fun and has lots of interesting facts about the places we went to visit. We learned so much and saw the most famous sights of Bangkok in barely half a day
Our tour guide Wat was awesome! He navigated us brilliantly, answered all of our questions, had a great sense of humor and took some amazing photos of us! Highly recommend!
We did the private tour, my niece and nephew enjoyed this experience although it was really hot but it was worth it!!
We had the absolute best time, could not recommend enough! Our tour guide was very informative, kind, and answered all of our questions. He was very passionate about everything we were seeing. He also gave us tips and tricks on how to make the best of our time in Bangkok. This tour was one of our most favorite times on this trip!
What can I say about this tour? Grace was amazing! She MADE this day for us! We had such a great time with her -- she gave me a ton of history into what we were seeing, and when she learned my husband was a photographer, made sure he had as much time as he wanted /needed to get all his images. At the end of the day, she took us to a great spot for lunch and we all were able to spend a little extra time together. We are happy to be able to now call her our friend!
My wife Brenda and I took the Grand Palace and Temple tour through Goway/Asia World Tours. We were in Bangkok for our 25th anniversary. Our tour guide AIR was spoke excellent English and was very personable, helpful, and knowledgeable. We really liked her. This is a great tour for pictures.
This tour is great for the traveler that has limited time in Bangkok just as it is advertised. Enjoyed our seasoned guide very much, English was excellent. I asked if we could include a quick stop to experience the flower market and she and the driver quickly arranged the additional stop which was well worth it. You could spend far more time at these stops if you want to read all the information and understand all the history but if you are looking to see the Buddha’s and get a little history in just 3.5 hours this is your trip. Enjoy
Nok was absolutely amazing! We loved our driver, too. Nok, our guide, was super knowledgeable and flexible. We loved that she heard us talking about certain things and made it a priority to show us similar things at different sites. She had a fantastic way of storytelling and showing us secret nooks and crannies. We loved how easy this tour was, they picked us up at our hotel, our guide had the driver waiting for us after each site. The car was clean, super cold (perfect in the hot Bangkok air!), our guide got us waters, took care of all our tickets and was able to make recommendations for us for other parts of our visit to the city. Can't recommend her enough!
Rainie was a hard worker and gave us a very good temple visit 3 times .Vert accommodating from a walk perspective with my hip replacement wife . She and her driver fromAsia trails were top notch Recommend for a half day tour
We toured 3 temples & the Grand Palace. All were spectacular. John was our guide. He spoke English well & gave good information about each. We would have liked to spend more time at GP. Just so much to take in.
What a wonderful way to see the temples and palace in Bangkok. A personal guide and driver picked us up from our hotel and took us to see these wonderful sites giving us history and information. They were very kind and relaxed and even took lots of pictures of us which was well appreciated! It felt very personal and we even got a Starbucks as we were in need of a coffee! Thank you so much to our guide and driver!
John, our private guide, and his driver arrived early and drove (4 of us) through the city and Chinatown, giving us information as we went. The two temples were achieved with ease and skipped the queues with special entrances. The Grand Palace was done in more detail and was wonderful. What a place. A must see. Fully escorted back to our hotel. A great afternoon. Thank you John.
Good pace tour. Nice van and all planned very well with tickets and pickups. Guide was okish, hard to understand and quite narrow with explanations.
We found the tour guide to be well intentioned but with low English speaking ability. While we enjoyed the tour and the locations; it was exhausting trying to pay attention to the tour guide due to her poor ability with English.
Great! Very informative and made sure we were always comfortable! Super cool! Awesome experience. Super dope
We had a great experience with our guide, Pranee! She was a walking encyclopedia and gave us lots of history and information that added to the value of our tour. Taking a tour like this is so much more valuable than wandering around by yourself. She bought all our tickets and let us spend as much time at each venue as we wanted to. We would definitely book with her again!
Nina was an excellent tour guide. She gave a lot of historical data that gave context to what we were seeing and made a big difference to how much we enjoyed the sights. Nina has a wonderful personality and was very gracious throughout the entire tour.
The whole trip was well organised well, time spent at each location was suitable. Both the driver and guide provided an good service. Had the guide's English been fluent then it would've been an excellent service & trip.
Me and my sister chose to do this trip whilst we were here in Bangkok and first of all we want to say how fantastic our tour guide Nina was. Her English was great and she was so much fun and so friendly. She was great to talk to and knew so much about all three temples that We visited and provided so much information. She was also a great photographer! Not just the ones that take one photo then ‘done’ - she was snapping away and getting the angles right! She was very careful of us and the crowds and always made sure we knew where she was. She even recommended another trip for us in the evening which she booked for us and sorted all the travel arrangements and made sure we were safe. Couldn’t thank Nina enough she was absolutely fantastic.
Ive been to Grand Palace and the other temples in the past, but this tour was extremely different because of our tour guide, named Nina or Pranee! She knows the history too well and have taken an extra mile to make the tour enjoyable. She also gave tips where to shop and eat. Best of all she gave so much care during the trip! Many many thanks!
Nina was the perfect guide. Her knowledge surrounding the sights was phenomenal.she encouraged us to take a lot of photos. She tookmany of Nina was the perfect guide for our tour. The depth of her knowledge of the culture and history surrounding the sites we visited was amazing. She also orchestrated some great photos of us. Nina even sang to us when we were stuck in traffic. I would request Nina again.
Had a great tour with a fabulous guide who was very friendly and happy to answer lots of questions. A really relaxed way to see some of the major sights. So pleased we went for the morning tour as depute the heat we had time between sites in air conditioned car. Prompt and courteous service would highly recommend. Never been disappointed yet with viator trips.
We had a personal guide called Wat who pick us up from our hotel. He was an excellent guide and his English was very good.He gave us an very good insight into everything we went to see and made the trip worth while. All in all a good trip and worth the money
Our tour guide was great! He showed us around and explained everything perfectly in the short time we had for the tour. Would definitely recommend!
The places we've seen are probably a must for Bangkok. The guide provided a sort of pre-recorded, but complete information for every place. But she often gave no or unreliable responses to questions. For example, when asked what original form of religions or beliefs existed in Thailand since before Hindu and Buddhism, she said none. Rather hard to believe.
Great temples to explore, very big and lots of walking. Very interesting lots of history and great pictures spots. Amazing history and plenty to do around the area. A most see!
The tour it’s self was really good, the grand palace and temples was just so beautiful to see, I would highly recommend. However I do feel I need to mention about our tour guide Rose so that no one else makes the mistake that we did. We were picked up for our tour which like I said was great and Rose came across as a lovely woman that you could trust. After the tour when back at the hotel Rose then asked if we wanted to do the floating market tour the next day she would give us it much cheaper than what online would of been. So told us she would take us to the floating market and also this “fly fly” thing after it and told us the price and that was including the speed boat. It came to 4000baht I’m thinking that’s good even though I couldn’t compare it to any other prices as I hadn’t looked but I’m trusting her she’s doing it cheap. Next day she turns up in her own car saying the driver wasn’t well. So really she’s now getting to keep all this money to herself. We gets to the floating market and we still had to pay 600baht to get on an actual boat, of course we weren’t going to go all the way there and not get on a boat so we paid it. The floating market was the biggest rip off, Rose told us bangkok is much cheaper than Phuket which was where we were going to next, so we are thinking ok we will buy our souvenirs here. Turns out the things we bought like a wooden elephant at 400baht I could of got for 100baht in Phuket. My list could go on with that. After the floating market we had lunch which we also paid for hers. Over lunch she asks how much we bought our house for, so clearly trying to see how much money we had. Back in her car she takes us to a “Zoo” I had already told her we were going to a elephant sanctuary in Phuket yet she thinks to take me to see elephants that have chains around their ankles and being made to carry people on their backs!! Also pushing us over to see the drugged up tiger, trying to sell us to get pictures with it. I had to hold back my tears as I don’t agree with that sort of stuff at all so me and my husband walked out. Next it was massages she’s trying to sell, I’m getting bored of it all now. We finally get to the place we are doing this “ fly fly” thing and it’s A very over crowded market and she tells us we are here for 2 hours till what ever it is we are there to see starts so to have a walk around the stalls. We had enough by this point and told her to take us home. She was saying how the boat was already paid for and I mentioned how I thought the boat at the floating market was already paid for and she just laughed and said no. She was trying to get us to stay but we demanded we went home. In the car again she’s asking a bit to much personal questions, she assumed my husband had his own business, which she then properly realised we weren’t as “rich” as she must of first thought. Also in the car home the police were doing random stops and she said if the police ask say I am your friend!! If it wasn’t for the fact we didn’t know where we were and knowing we were at least an hours drive away from Bangkok would would of just walked away from her after the floating market. So please if you do this tour which as I said I do recommend, just please don’t buy in to the tour guides sales pitches to do anymore tours! Picture of rose attached. If that even is her real name.
From the moment we booked with Viator was very pleased with the email correspondences regarding the tour with confirmation and time of pick up. We were met at our hotel by our tour guide Nina and air condition mini van. Nina was a very good tour guide everything went smoothly and we saw everything, the Grand Palace, golden Buddha and leaning Buddha . Nina told us about places as we drove to each destination and history of the royals and even took us and arranged a long boat taxi. We really enjoyed our tour there were 4 of us .
If it's your first time in Bangkok, take this tour. Its a must see and there is so much to experience.
We had the half day tour thru' Viator and the experience was educational and a spectacular cultural extravaganza. The tour was superbly conducted and explanations where needed clearly given.
the tour was good, however, there is no need to do a private tour as its too expensive.we were the only couple on the tour with a driver and a guide. We since did two other tours, one with 10 people and one with about 50, they were more enjoyable. Although we enjoyed the tour we did not think it value for money. We were driven to the palace and the two main temples of bangkok, Nothing else was offered. We believe that we could have done the tour ourselves with a driver or getting taxis between the sites (which are all very close together). The information given by the guide was ok but as I said, not worth the price paid.
We had a decent tour experience. We had a private tour with just our extended family. Although the guide was nice and knowledgeable he did not present the information in any engaging way. He lacked personality and with his heavy accent we had a difficult time staying focused. We visited the Palace, Reclining Buddha, Jade Buddha and Gold Buddha. I could not recommend him sadly.
Very nice tour with a private driver and Excellent english speaking guide Mr. Watt. Everything was perfect. Just ask mr. Watt what you want and he will help you. Worth the money, me and my family enjoyed it, but note that you need to wear light clothes but also consider visiting relegios places where you need to have long triusers and a shirt as minimum.
We had an amazing experience. People from Asian Trails were kind enough to even remind us a day before of the time and what to wear for the tour. We found our guide Mr. John waiting in our hotel lobby almost 10 minutes early. He and our driver were very courteous and nice. Our guide gave us a lot of stories and details for all the sites plus was accommodating to all our needs like stopping for photos, shopping for souvenirs etc. The car was spacious and cool plus they offered us wet towels and water which was amazing after the tiring walk around the huge Grand Palace. Our family would highly recommend this tour especially if you are on a tight schedule and want to see major Bangkok attractions at once. Thank you so much, we really enjoyed ourselves!
An excellent tour of the Temples and Palace in a half day. Our tour guide was friendly and informative. It was especially nice to have a private tour. We were able to maneuver around busy, crowded, and crazy areas. A very nice morning.
