Great place to see the sights from. Easy, convenient and well-priced. Lots of places to hop on and off.
It’s totally worth it to see all the amazing tourist spots in the city. The best way to skip traffic and enjoy the views
Boot-Trip to all major places in Bangkok. HopOn/HopOff is a perfect methode to know the city better.
Very bad experience. First of all the hop on and hoff off blue service (specially for tourists) arrived at the Icon Siam pier almost 30 minutes late. I booked a ticket for 06-50 pm , but the boat arrived at 07-20pm. There was so many passengers waiting at the pier. They were jostling to board the ferry after waiting for half an hour. There was no display about status. As the boat arrived late ,I missed last ferry from the Phira Arthit pier for returning to Santhorn pier. When I asked one of the lady crew of the boat alternatives , she behaved very rudely.I have travelled so many countries and travelled by ferries and public transport, but never experienced such horrible behaviour.I wonder how people working in tourism sector can behave so rude. I was very upset with the incident as tourists particularly senior citizen like me don't expect such kind of rude behaviour. I advise tourists not to travel by this ferry in Thailand.
The cruise experience is well worth it. A fast way to travel to Icon Siam and Asiatique. I did find the frequency in the afternoon much more faster than at night. I also wished the staff could be more friendly. Afterall we are visitors to the country. They were often very hurried and rude. Never smiled. A side note to tourists. Pls sit properly on the benches on the top deck. And not sit on the back rest and dirtying the actual seats. I know the objective is a better view but this is inconsiderate for the next seat user.
This hop-on, hop-off boat offers absolutely no commentary as you cruise up and down the river, so don’t expect to learn anything unless you enjoy squinting at the tiny booklet included with your ticket. There aren’t many stops, but it does whisk you past most of the major sights quickly enough. Even in peak season the boat was nowhere near full, which probably means most people had the good sense to take the local boat instead.
I think pigs are treated better by the pier-personel! They ask you every other minute for your ticket ( same person!!) andshout at you if you say he/she could be a little more friendly. And ooh!!!: watch out if they see you’re having alcohol in a plastic bag: they even chase you on the upper deck shouting you’re not allowed to drink on board. Point: they shouted that already three times ( on the peer and at the entrance) and every time I said: clear! Won’t do. My company would have no guests, if me and my personnel would treat our guest like that!
There was no commentary but the booklet that came with the tickets was excellent so we could identify the various sights The round trip lasted around 90 minutes An incredible bargain
Very sufficient and convenient. Is a must to use if you are going to all major attraction along the Chaopraya River.
Great way to explore the city, see Iconsiam very affordable and easy to use plus it keeps you out of the traffic so great during peak time
AVOID THIS SERVICE! One my first stop our paid journey, we were suddenly forced off the boat due to an unexplained "emergency" and then abandoned on an exposed pier for 30 minutes under Bangkok's scorching sun with no shade or water - dangerous for elderly passengers and families with children. When I asked for a refund since we didn't receive the full service, they flat-out refused. Poor emergency procedures, zero customer service, health risks from heat exposure, and additional taxi costs to reach our destinations. Use regular public boats instead - much better value and reliability!
My comment is in line with the others here who have put 1 star while it deserves half a star as the boats are load, and seats dirty and worst of all at least half of the staff are rude and impolite. Would recommend the company give their staff some training on how to deal with humans as it seems that some of the staff (not all) were used to dealing with cattle 🐄 (FYI we aren’t)
I had a great experience with the Chao Phraya Tourist Boat! The service was efficient, and the staff were generally helpful. However, I did find that the signage at the piers could use some improvement, as it was sometimes challenging to determine which pier to go to for the different boat routes. While asking the staff for assistance was usually ok, I encountered a few who struggled with English, making communication a bit tricky. Overall, I had a wonderful day exploring the river and its sights. If you're planning to visit the Grand Palace, I recommend bringing a pair of elephant pants, but you can easily find them for around 100 THB at various shops – just don't settle for the first one you see! I would definitely recommend this experience, with a few improvements in signage and staff language skills, it would be perfect!
Don’t do this unless you speak Thai. It’s near impossible to figure out what ticket to get, when your boat is coming, when you can get back, etc. No one speaks English. This is a tourist activity. Should be more clear.
For an extra chance at sightseeing we decided to take a Grab to Sathorn station and walk the 3 minutes to the Pier. We enjoyed the ease of being on the water. There was a pleasant flow of people because there are so many stops to choose from. It can be a bit intense getting on and off, take your time and mind the gap, that’s a given with any boat ride. It’s much nicer to wait on a shady dock too! Sit up top and enjoy the view!
Today May 4,2025 at about 2:40, tourist boat toward sarthon was arriving at icon siam pier, we went to the gate but the older staff told us that the boat was not apply to our all day pass and asked us to wait. After 10 minutes later, we went to the gate to wait our boat, but the older woman sitting at the entrance of gate also didn't allow us to enter and request us to wait at the chair. 10 minutes later we asked another young staff about the issue, he instructed us to wait at left side of the pier. However, the left side is for another direction not for sarthon. We saw another tourist boat toward sarthon was arriving, no staff informed us that was the boat which was going to our destination. Finally, we asked a young female staff, she told us that we need to wait next boat. We explained that there was 3 staffs giving us the wrong information or something that refused us to board the last 2 boats. Finally, she gave us a advise that buy 2 tickets cost b$16 then we could get another boat. The experience made us a sick. By the way, all staffs at icon siam pier was wearing same uniform which means they belong to same company.
Easy to use to get to most of major tourist attractions like Grand Palace, Wat Arun, and others from the river. Docks have good signage and maps of where stops are and dock workers were helpful, as well, ensuring we got on the boat going the right direction. (They have different colored flags) 😉
We really enjoyed our time on the river. Great way to see Bangkok from different perspective. The unlimited pass stops at all the top sightseeing destinations and is fast and efficient. The all-day pass is a great bargain. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and seeing all the main sights, then getting off and exploring Bangkok. We were fortunate to be staying near stop 13 - terminal stop - and did not have any crowds. The staff was efficient and helpful. Do not miss getting off at Wat Arun - beautiful temple. Wonderful photo opps too. Not to be missed, and you avoid the group tours!
Great way to see the city and hop on and off at your leisure. Amazing sights by the river and all within walking distance of major attractions.
Getting worth it for a day trip with all major stops asking the river. Hassle free check in with downloaded voucher.
Cheap but very average…long queue to board and at times the boat very overcrowded All in all not very impressed Does what is says but nothing more
No signs for which way the boats go or what times. Gate attendants are not helpful. One gate attendant literally ran away from us when we asked her if we are at the right dock. Overcrowded boats. Nice boat ride and great stops.
Our experience with the staff at the Sathorn Pier was terrible. I saw the staff yelling and fighting amongst themselves and then turning around and yelling at all the tourists. They are so rude here. They yelled at everyone to line up and then yelled at everyone to hurry up and get on the boat. I'm not sure why all the hostility here but its no way to treat people let alone tourists. They could have talked to everyone nicely but didnt. Not sure what the hurry is because the boat cannot leave without everyone. The 2 women who work at the booth to get the tickets were short and rude and spoked limited bad English. They had no interested in answering questions but demanded money once they figured out where we wanted to go. Just disgusting behavior from everyone who worked here. None of the tourists were acting up or out of line not sure why they feel it is ok to yell at everyone and fight amongst themselves. I rode on this boat in 2019 and had a great experience but its just bad now. If I had to do it again I would just hitch a ride from a hotel boat instead of using these services but if you don't have that option just avoid the sathorn pier.
Not worth it. When i arrived at the designated boat terminal the attendant only wanted to see a QR code. which i was never sent. I showed her my voucher but she just told me it was not any good. Your better off just buying the ticket when you arrive at the boat terminal
Terrible service. Hard to find map. Boat waits from 60 seconds and then is gone. Map given is bad. Impossible to find the peirs. Waste of money.
The positives are that it is reasonably priced and punctual. But it is hard to get past the negatives. Extremely rude staff. No patience for elderly tourists. Always rushing and disorganized.
It was our first time in Bangkok and we heard about this "hop on and hop off" boat called Chao Phraya Tourist Boat (not Express Boat) by local vloggers on YouTube. They recommended it, so we tried it. We took BTS from our hotel and got off at BTS Saphan Taksin station. The pier is right below the station as you exit. (Walk towards the river.) On the far left of the pier is the Ticket booth for Chao Phraya Tourist Boat. We bought a One Day River Pass for 150 THB. They staple your receipt onto their brochure. (Don't lose it.) Soon the boat arrived and we got on. Since the weather was hot, we decided to sit "inside" the boat which was actually quite nice. It was open window so we caught the nice river breeze. We were going to The Grand Palace for our first stop. If you sit on the left side of the boat, you'll see ICON Siam and Wat Arun along the way before reaching The Grand Palace. They also make a pier stop at Ratchawong for Chinatown and Rajinee for Wat Pho and Museum Siam. After visiting The Grand Palace, we got back onto the boat and went to ICON Siam for lunch before catching the boat again to head back to Sathorn pier where it was an easy walk to BTS Saphan Taksin. On another day, we purchased another One Day River Pass and visited Wat Arun and back to ICON Siam. Highly recommend getting an All Day River Pass (peace of mind), especially if this is your first time to Bangkok. We enjoyed the experience.
This is a tourist hop on hop off boat that takes you through the Chao Phraya river of Bangkok. I recommend it only if you mr hotel is nearby one of the piers and if this is your first day in Bangkok. The most interesting places this tour can take you are The Grand Palace, Wat Arun and Iconsiam. They say this tour can take you to Asiatique Riverfront, but the only time it takes you is from 4pm, and based on their brochure there is no return trip from Asiatique, and it is hard to get the information from the staff if you don’t speak Thai. Also I spent 150baht on unlimited day tour, while you can take a local ferry service for 5baht for each stop. Doesn’t worth the money to me.
We were totally shocked! And still in shock. Shocked by the horrified experience we just had at the CHAO PHRAYA TOURIST BOAT ticket booth earlier today (around 11 am on 4/5/24). What a rude, uncivilized, and hostile customer service woman they have there, we felt discriminated by her behavior toward us, and whatever hidden agenda she has. I normally don't write reviews but I feel this needs to be shared so no one would experience what I have just experienced that can ruin the trip. This is my first trip to Thailand, today is the 2nd day of the trip. Waking up with total joy and couldn't wait to see what Bangkok has to offer. We are group of 6 women and we purchased the $16 thb tickets to go visit the War Arun temple which we read online as many people and travel sites suggested. After purchased the tickets we then found out those tickets are sitting outside on the deck, also we have to wait half an hour for the boat to arrived. When we found out there's another boat leaves a bit earlier but the ticket has difference price which is $30 thb each (which information wasn't provided to us when we were trying to buy our tickets). We went back to the booth and try to see if we can exchange our tickets for the boat that is leaving sooner and we were willing to pay for the price difference. The girl sitting on the front booth is nice and pleasant and she is willing to let us exchange the tickets and pay for the differences, just as we were glad about it, a lady sitting in the back of the booth came out and told us that we can not exchange these tickets, and her sole reason was that she suggested us to buy the $30 tickets and we bought the $16 tickets. We tried to explain to her our new found informations but her said it's the rule and said we just can not exchange it (we guessed she's that girl's supervisor based on her stern and unwelcoming attitude toward us). And then strange thing she said also was that only if we destroy/tearing up our $16 tickets then we are allowed to buy new tickets. As I have travelled to few countries I have never heard of such things, so I questioned her and she became very angry and raised her voice. One of my friend who wanted to avoid further confrontations she went ahead and teared up her ticket in order to get a new ticket for the boat trip so we can all move forward with our day plan, my friend then said to that lady can I get a new ticket, and believe or not (no one would ever guessed), that hostile lady replied "I don't want to sell you the ticket", "I'm not going to sell you any tickets". We were shocked and confused with what we were hearing. As I have never experienced anything like this, I then said to her "this is not a good customer service practice of you". What I didn't expect next was that she stormed and came right out of the booth standing real close to me and shout at me "so what do you want", I was totally shocked and by her uncivilized behavior. I had such mix feeling when that happened I wanted to say something and let her know what she's doing isn't right, but my friends pulled me away from her to avoid making more scenes (already some people were looking wondering what happened). So now we still have 5 tickets and can't go on the boat trip because we are 1 ticket short. And we don’t feel comfortable to get on their boat especially after she stormed out of the ticket booth like she’s looking for a fight. We are tourist in a foreign country who don't want any trouble. Not sure what's going on with that woman but she totally ruined our boat trip, our trip plan. I simply hope her boss will find out what had happened today, as that woman is on the front line of their customer service. Her unruly and aggressive behavior should really be looked at.
Travelling with my husband who uses a small mobility scooter, I was worried that some reviews said staff were rude and kept yelling, and that the boat doesn’t wait long. Absolutely the opposite! Staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Yes there is a lot of yelling, but I think this is just their way to encourage people to keep moving. Everyone was wonderful. We had a lovely day! Thank you.
Great way to explore Bangkok. Enjoy the views from the upper deck of the boat. A bit crowded in the evening but still good!
We used the hop on, hop off ferry a couple of times and found it a really great way to get around and to get quickly to some of the major tourist sites. The cost of an all day ticket at 200Baht we thought was excellent value. The boats run every half hour between 9am and about 10pm. A running commentary of what was at the various stops was given and with the all day ticket you receive a small tourist guide which we found very helpful. Highly recommended.
We had no intention of doing this trip however the lovely man grabbed us when we got off the train. Only 200 Baht for unlimited hop on hop off boat trip along the river. It was suggested that we go straight to the Grand Palace as it closes at 3.30pm. Waiting time was minimal and we had a fantastic view of the river and everything along it. Great value for money and a relaxing day out.
We only had 24 hours in Bangkok and wanted to get around as many sights as possible in that time. This is a fantastic way of doing that. We rode the boat one way up the river, getting off at each stop, visiting the sights, then hopping back on the next boat to continue the journey. Following a meal at the last stop, we made the return journey, riding the whole route without stopping. The boats were extremely efficient and stuck relentlessly to the time table. You have to be ready to hop on or off quickly! The cooling breeze out on the water was an added plus to the amazing sights and sounds of Bangkok.
We took this boat tour and we were glad we did. It is the best way to see sights, it stops in all major sights like Wat Arun, Flower Market, Grand Palace. We paid 200 Bhat each for all day, it is pretty dissent. Boat is clean, well maintained, there is toilet and snack bar if I remember correctly. There is a guide talking throughout the tour. Boat is very punctual so do not miss the last boat. Arrive on the pier 10 min before the departure time.
Very handy, stopping at many points along the River. Seems easier than working out the public boats as can get on the wrong one. Boats keep to schedule and come every half an hour. Staff were friendly.
We bought this pass thinking it was a good deal. The boat schedule is unreliable, so don't count on it. On our way back, we had to wait one hour for this boat. Yes one hour! My kids were screaming bored to death. I should have just taken boat taxi paying as I go. This is a tourist trap. I don't recommend it.
My wife and I enjoyed the hop and hop off option that this offered to see a variety of sites in Bangkok. We also used it during the daytime hours and at night to take pictures of the sites along the river. For $6 USD it is not a bad deal, but it is expensive for Thais.
Told is this boat ticket was for unlimited rides but then made us get off at the "last" stop even though the boat goes in a loop. Ended up having to wait half an hour to get back on, after the lady promised us the boat would come in "5 minutes." Total scam, do not take this boat. Very inconvenient way to get around and the ticket sales people are dishonest.
Staff have a good service, and recommend tourist attractions. I can buy tickets easily and quickly. Dont have to wait. For One way ticket is 60baht per each and for All Day River Pass is 200 baht. I can buy tickets easily and quickly. No need to wait. For those who want to travel all day, should buy the All Day River Pass, because you can use it from 9: 00-20: 30 hrs and the boat will run every 30 minutes. You can buy tickets on the website of Chao Phraya Tourist Boat , if you dont want to walk in. They have promotion and discount on website. In the evening you will see the sunset, which is very beautiful and views of the temples around the river.
The boat excursion was a cruise along the Chao Phraya River with stops at several piers where Bangkok’s famous tourist spots were located. It was very convenient as you could go in and out out with no limitations in one day. It is recommended to start your journey earlier in the morning to avoid the big crowd. It very first boat would leave Sathorn - Taksin Peir at 9.00 an.
We booked the hop on hop off boat ride and it really helped us cover as much of the attractions as we could. With the unlimited hop on hop off options, we are able to travel up and down the river and visit the attractions at the best possible timings without the hassle of traffic jams or making train switches. Try to get on the upper deck in the evening, the cool wind plus the bright neon lights from nearby boats and buildings really made it a memorable ride.
Be aware, there are numerous hop on hop off boat operators at the central pier. Make sure you find the one with the most stops. It's a bit of a free for all with operators trying to pull you in. Look closely at the map of stops- for instance, you can easily walk from the flower market to Wat Pho- its faster and more interesting than waiting for the boat. Icon Siam and Asiatique both have FREE private boats that will get you to the central pier, so you don't have to wait for the hop on hop off boat.
We used this to get one particular destination up the river and just wanted to spend a relaxing day riding up the river and back to our hotel. It is not quite like the Hop-On-Hop-Off buses we have used in Europe. They don't have earphones to hear the destination info in your language. You got something on their speakers which was difficult to hear with the boat noise and people around you talking. They spoke in a few languages so you had to wait for your language to to heard. So listening for info on the stops was kind of useless. But the ticket price was cheap for a day pass and it got us to where we wanted to go.
This is another bad side of this place where you have to put up to different asking rates of there tour..Different rates as high as it could get you like 3,500 for a ONE WAY TOUR.... something that i do not want to go back to this place. The people wont take care of there TOURISTS...but make them feel like you were really a stranger in one of the most visited place in asia.
We purchased hop on hop off oneday pass for trips , at the first the boat is quite nice and clean . The staff were all very nice also. If you have any questions the place where you need to go, They'll go out of their way to help you in anyway possible. Good way of travelling for Chao Praya river!!!!!!
The people here are friendly and nice. Services are great and always on time and fast, especially on the boat. It's a super convenient way with everything you need for tourist: Way to go Grand palace, BTS, restaurants and the best places along the river.
Overall, I’m glad I found this. I’m staying close to iconsiam and was worried about the cost of taxis all day and this saved me from that! 300 baht for unlimited trips day and night was a good value as I went on the boat 5 times! Don’t expect this to be a comprehensive history lesson— there was a very brief overview of each stop and the speakers were so low it was hard to hear that even. The biggest let down was some of the staff, as other reviews have talked about. I work in customer service with tourists and get that it can be a stressful and frustrating, but there were several occasions throughout the day where the staff got angry with people getting on and off the boat, over things like standing in the wrong place in line or changing your mind on destination- it’s a hop on hop off service!!! I understand the safety element with the river but aggressively yelling at people for simply standing in the wrong place is very unprofessional and spoils the day. Other members of the team, particularly those on the boat were kind and helpful. Just be aware of this before you book as I didn’t read the reviews and it wasn’t a good surprise.
Easy way to get around the Chao Phraya. All necesary locations of Bangkok on the Trip. Thank you Matthias
