Wat Arun, also known as the Temple of Dawn, is one of the most beautiful places in Bangkok and a must-visit for travelers. Located by the Chao Phraya River, its tall spires are decorated with shining porcelain and look stunning at sunrise and sunset. You can walk around the temple, admire its intricate details, and even climb to the top for a great view of the city. A trip to Bangkok wouldn’t be complete without seeing this amazing temple.
The Grand Palace is a complex of buildings at the heart of Bangkok, Thailand. The palace has been the official residence of the Kings of Siam (and later Thailand) since 1782. The king, his court, and his royal government were based on the grounds of the palace until 1925. King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX), resided at the Chitralada Royal Villa and his successor King Vajiralongkorn (Rama X) at the Amphorn Sathan Residential Hall, both in the Dusit Palace, but the Grand Palace is still used for official events. Several royal ceremonies and state functions are held within the walls of the palace every year. The palace is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Thailand, with over eight million people visiting each year.
Enjoy a relaxing lunch at a riverside boat restaurant overlooking the Chao Phraya River. Take in the tranquil river view and Bangkok’s skyline as you savor a freshly prepared buffet of Thai and international dishes. Please note: If the river water level is unusually high, the buffet may be moved indoors to a nearby restaurant for your safety and comfort.
is a royal wat located in Phasi Charoen district, Bangkok, at the Chao Phraya River. It is part of the Maha Nikaya fraternity and is the origin of the Dhammakaya tradition. It is a large and popular temple, supported by prosperous community members.
At the end of the trip, we will drop you off at the hotel where you were picked up in the morning. If you would like to go to Icon Siam, we can take you there as well. Please inform the tour guide on the day of the trip.

If you book this and are assigned a Mr. Surin, consider booking another temple tour. I was enticed by the all-inclusive nature of this one, but things were included that I didn't care for at all! First off, 6 of the 8 people in my tour were Chinese; Surin speaks both Chinese and English. The challenge with this, however, was that as he explained things to one part of the group, the other part just waited ... in broiling 107-/42-degree Thailand heat and humidity. When outdoors, that happened in the shade, however inside of temples, where it was hotter and absolutely NO AIR moved, it was unbearable. On top of that, Surin was quite long-winded and, in English anyway, repetitive. Had he read the situation better, Surin should've kept things short and even adjusted the tour to pass through or even bypass certain spaces quickly. Hard to enjoy an exhibit, for example, when you're nearly drowning in sweat. Another bothersome issue was that Surin often took off to the next location, never saying "Let's go," so that our group had to find him in the crowd and catch up. At one point, I asked my husband, "Does he think he's alone on this tour?" The tour van was a little tired and worn, too, and when the AC was on full blast, you couldn't hear Surin at all, and he didn't seem to try to project or raise his voice at all. Either speak louder or get a mic and speaker system ... One inclusion on the trip that wasn't at all what I expected was lunch. The activity listing made it sound like we'd be lunching on a boat, presumably sailing down the river. Nope, we were stationary and only moved once lunch was over. And the lunch itself? Absolutely foul -- the chafing dish entrees looked and tasted as if they were the picked-over remains of an earlier tour group, and the staff didn't care enough to reheat or replenish any of it Food quality was awful -- and Thai food, overall, is outstanding, so you REALLY have to put an effort in for it to suck. This tour lunch succeeded at that. The rotten cherry to this sour sundae of a day was mixed messaging about the dropoff. The Viator listing stated we'd be dropped off at the meeting point, which was perfect because my hubby and I wanted to go back and explore it. We were also eager to then take a taxi back to our hotel to rest before an evening appointment. First off, Surin was dropped off first at a train station. What responsible tour guide doesn't stay and ensure each guest leaves safely?! Then, imagine our bewilderment when a couple of the guests were dropped off at their hotels. At that point we wondered where we'd be dropped off, esp since our hotel was kind of far. So I texted Surin, who said the driver was now going to the meeting point. Why, then, did we have to lose 30 minutes dropping off two parties?! If they paid for curbside service, they should've had to wait for after the meeting point dropoff. At the very least, all of this should've been communicated to us all. I suspect the Chinese guests were informed, but we, as the only English speakers were overlooked. Who can know? Anyway, if you've made it this far, thanks, and I really hope it helps you make the best decision on a temples tour. Let me add that Mr. Surin wasn't a bad or purposefully mean person, not at all. His enthusiasm about temple and Thailand history was infectious, and I learned a lot. But I would advise him to be more aware of his guests' condition and whereabouts; be responsible and stay with the tour until the very last guest departs ... and separate the Chinese and English tours, for heaven's sake!! I should also say that the highlight of the tour, of course, were the gorgeous temples and witnessing Thailand's greatness.
Picked up from hotel, air conditioning transportation and boat ride, lunch included, very informative and knowledgeable tour guide boy and safe driver would definatly recommend
The tour was nice. The guide was informative and friendly. I didn’t care for the lunch however, but I’m still satisfied w the experience.
The tour guide , Alex could not have been better. The tour was informative and interesting. She assisted us greatly when my wife became unwell. Would recommend the team and tour.
Good timely tour. Felt bit rushed but had to to get to all the things we needed to see. Buffet was ok.
A great way to see classic Thai temples and The Grand Palace. But, maybe just a touch too long for us, especially as we are unaccustomed to the Bangkok heat! The itinerary was very well and seamlessly delivered by guide Vivienne and driver. We were treated to, essentially, a private tour when other guests had belatedly canceled. Vivienne was extraordinarily attentive, accommodating, knowledgeable and friendly. Great job that cannot be faulted. Overall very happy to recommend this 'classic', but caution regarding the heat!
We had the absolute pleasure of having Alec as our tour guide, and I truly cannot recommend her enough. She went far beyond what we expected. She didn’t just show us the temples, she brought them to life. Her storytelling made everything so much more interesting and memorable. On top of that, she gave us wonderful background on Thai culture, history, traditions, and even insights into the current economy and local beliefs. We were traveling with our toddler, and she was incredibly thoughtful and patient the entire time. She made sure we could keep up comfortably. That level of awareness and care meant so much to us. What impressed us most is that her care didn’t stop when the tour ended. She offered recommendations, helped us arrange a driver, and made sure we were completely taken care of. That level of dedication is rare. Honestly, no matter what tour we consider in the future, we would choose Alec again. She is incredible, professional, knowledgeable, and truly passionate about what she does. Thank you, Alec, for making our experience unforgettable.
Our guide was Mr Boy. While he tried hard to please, his English was poor, he repeated himself several times, and spoke about irrelevant topics.
Great experience. The tour guide, Sham was very nice and knowledgeable. They took very good care of the group
Absolutely amazing! The driver was great! The tour guide we had was Sham he was amazing! He took his time and went in detail about the history of the temples! He even took photos of us in the perfect spots! It was just well organized and didn’t feel rushed at each location! Just an amazing experience definitely would recommend!
This is a great way to see the temples and highlights of Bangkok. Our guide was very friendly- but her English was a little challenging to understand. We enjoyed the day. The lunch buffet is not international. I am vegetarian and they didn’t have much to offer. However, once we explained they made up a salad and an omelette for me that were vegetarian so that was really great.
It was a unique trip to the most beautiful temples in Bangkok, and our tour guide Mai was great!!! She took us on shortcuts and we skipped the lines so we didn’t have to wait almost at all, she took care of our tickets and also took us to have lunch. Great day with her on our side
I joined a small group tour to visit Grand Palace n temples. Tour guide Jakie was disorganized. He talked a lot but of all nonsense. At Grand Palace, he didn’t even have enough money to pay for the group’s entrance tickets. I stepped up to save the day by lending him Bhat 500. He promised to repay but he was ignoring my message so far. Money wasn’t much but his kind is attitude gives Thailand and the tour company a terrible image.
Kai was a great guide and very informative about all the temples and palace we went too. Would recommend if you have some days in Bangkok!
We were picked up promptly by a bolt taxi driver and driven to the first stop to meet the guide and the rest of the group, unfortunately we were waiting an hour and 15 minutes in the heat with no where to sit and although guide advised us to be patience we thought this was unacceptable. We enjoyed what we saw on the tour but not enough free time everything was very rushed. Also was aware this was a bilingual tour so meant double the time explaining in 2/3 languages. Pay private tour if you can for better experience.
Chai was very informative, timely. You can tell he loves what he does. Food lunch not so great but passable. Would have preferred food stall recommendations. Majestic, magnificent and marveling. I was in awe the entire tours.
Excellent tour well worth doing. Very interesting and the guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The temples were beautiful with rich history. Highly recommend doing this while in Bangkok.
This was a fantastic tour with an amazing guide. We did a nice dive. Not too deep and it covered all of the right and necessary places. Traffic was not easy from one place to the next. Still, Sureen was amazing and so was the tour. The ornate design and gracious welcome made us feel at home
My professional tour guide, Chai was amazing. He's very knowledgeable as well as kind and patient. The driver was also great!
My wife and I conducted extensive research on the Viator website for things to do while in Bangkok. We selected this tour as it included the three main temple attractions and lunch cruise included. Additionally, there was the pickup right from our hotel. We were picked up right on time and went to pick up our tour guide along with the remaining three tourists. There were a total of seven participants. We started at the first temple (Wat Arun). We arrived and our guide purchased the entry tickets. We were provided a bottle of water and entered the temple area. The location was very crowded with tourists and many photographers as the tourists were dressed up in local attire. We received some information via our guide regarding the temple and then given 30 minutes to look around and take photos. It was difficult to get good pictures due to the large number of people there, but enough were taken to show we were there. We then walked to the pier area to take a boat ride across the river to the next temple. The boat ride was approximately 3-4 minutes and then walked from the pier to the Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha Temple. Once again, our guide purchased the entry tickets and we entered. Another round of information was provided by our guide and then time to roam on our own again. We entered the main temple, walked through the other structures, and took plenty of pictures. It was crowded, but not as the previous temple, so we had good opportunities for good photos. We then departed via our shuttle van to get a buffet lunch at a hotel?? The tour stated we would eat lunch on a river cruise, but that did not happen. We were not advised in advance that the lunch cruise was not happening. Very disappointed! On top of that, the hotel buffet was not very good at all. After our mediocre buffet lunch, we boarded out van again and headed to see the next temple (Wat Paknam). No entry fee required here, so we walked straight in. We arrived at the large Buddha statue only to find it wrapped in scaffolding due to maintenance and not able to get any good pictures. Our guide mentioned that he had a photo and would send to us, but not the same as seeing it yourself and taking your own picture. We could’ve done that online. From there we entered the temple and looked around the many artifacts in the temple. At this point, the day had been very long and exhaustion was setting in. After this final temple, we boarded out van and started our trek back to our hotels. The traffic was “HORRIBLE”! This, of course, was out of anybody’s hands. Our guide got off first at an undisclosed place and just left us with the driver. He said goodbye, but seemed ready to just go. Thought he would accompany us back to the hotels to close out the tour. Overall, it was an ok day and tour. The guide was knowledgeable, but lacked enthusiasm. He did speak more than one language to accommodate the participants. We would’ve liked to be given prior notice of the exclusion of the anticipated lunch cruise and the maintenance being conducted on the Buddha. We felt that we paid more for items we did not receive or fully see. Would recommend this tour only if it includes what was advertised/sold and the temples or sights are fully available to be seen.

Tour guide was amazing! Unfortunately the lunch on the river boat was out of service and we were taken to a nearby lunch buffet that was just ok. Additionally the large Buddha at Wat Paknam is being refurbished and covered in scaffolding. The tour guide made up for it but was disappointed 2 of the 4 attractions did not deliver up to our expectation.
It was well organised. The guide was competent and explained everything in English. The river cruise and lunch onboard was also good.
Best experience for a trip in Bangkok! I visited the Grand Palace and some very interesting temples and I had the best guide!
I am not the best writing reviews but i will tell you this. Chaem was a very cool and fun guy. His tour was very well organized. Aside from the tour to the temples he showed us so much and told us about the history of every temple and had even extra material to show us. I would definitely recommend this tour to others visiting bangkok.
Good sights to see just felt really rushed with our tour guide, who constantly would said say hurry up let’s go! Also for vegetarians the food on the boat was very limited, as must things had fish sauce. Would be nice to taste Thai food without it.
This was honestly one of my favorite parts of the day! The river cruise was super relaxing, and the buffet lunch was amazing. There were so many different dishes to try, and I especially loved the fresh Thai noodles and the coconut dessert – both were absolutely delicious. I’ve always wanted to try more local Thai food, This buffet was perfect! It was easy, stress-free, and everything was clearly labeled. The staff on the boat were also really kind and helpful, which made the whole experience even better. If you’re into food or just want to enjoy a chill cruise with great views, I totally recommend this tour.
This tour was one of the highlights of my trip!We visited the Grand Palace, Wat Arun (the Temple of Dawn), and the impressive Buddha statue at Wat Paknam. Every stop was full of cultural and historical value. The English-speaking guide was professional and very passionate—he explained the meaning behind the buildings, murals, and temple stories in detail. I could really feel how rich Bangkok’s cultural heritage is.The driver and guide were also very friendly and welcoming throughout the day. If you're interested in history, architecture, and meaningful travel, I highly recommend this experience. Bangkok is more than just shopping—it's a city with depth and stories waiting to be discovered.
This was a great tour to see the Grand Palace, Wat Arun. Chai was our guide and he gave us great information about the temples and the palace. Also had a great lunch. What an awesome day.
This was such an amazing experience, full of rich culture and history. I really appreciated the guide’s hospitality, professionalism, and friendliness—even his deep knowledge of local markets, temples, and palaces blew me away. Honestly, words just can’t do it justice! The cruise was exceptional—super cool with great food—and my guide mentioned it’s an exclusive deal only his company offers. I feel so lucky I chose this tour. It was a fantastic experience, and I totally recommend it!
I recently visited Bangkok and had a wonderful experience. Unsure of whom to trust, I booked through TripAdvisor. It was absolutely worth it. I was pleasantly surprised by the five-star service—I had a great driver and an incredible guide who was highly knowledgeable and provided clear insights about the three temples we visited. Since I informed the sales team that I am a vegetarian in advance, I was especially grateful that they arranged a special veg lunch for me when I arrived at the cruise. The cruise itself was spacious, and the views on both sides of the river were stunning. I love Bangkok, and I truly loved this experience!
Amazing experience! There's no way we could have explored all these places in one day on our own and actually taken everything in. Having our own guide to explain things made a huge difference. The cruise was another highlight—I’m so glad we didn’t skip it!
This was an amazing day tour! Our tour guide was incredibly friendly and shared fascinating insights into Thailand’s history with detailed explanations. The buffet lunch on the cruise was delicious and plentiful, with coffee and tea available as well. Transportation was seamless, and the driver was not only kind but also kept the vehicle clean and comfortable. The small group setting made the experience even better—just one guide, one vehicle, and only five of us in total. Everything was well-organized, making it a truly enjoyable and memorable experience.
This was an amazing travel experience! The itinerary was well-organized, with a hotel pick-up at 9:00 AM and drop-off around 5:00 PM. The schedule was tight but not rushed, and each attraction was thoroughly explained with plenty of time to explore. After visiting Wat Arun and the Grand Palace, I started to feel a bit tired, but thankfully, the next stop was a relaxing cruise with lunch. Bangkok’s weather can be quite hot, so having an air-conditioned break was a perfect way to recharge. It was such a thoughtful arrangement, making the experience both comfortable and enjoyable. This was the best day of my entire Bangkok trip! I had so much fun and didn’t feel exhausted at all. The guide and driver were both fantastic, and with only four people in our group, the tour felt very personalized. Plus, the price was very reasonable, making it a great value for money. Highly recommended!
We had an absolutely delightful day tour. The driver arrived punctually at our hotel in the morning and drove us smoothly to Wat Arun. Our guide provided thorough and detailed explanations about the features and stories behind each attraction, giving us a fresh understanding of Thailand's history. As I am elderly, the guide was exceptionally considerate, offering constant safety reminders and patiently answering all our questions. We are truly grateful for the excellent service provided by the guide. If we visit Thailand again, we will definitely choose this travel agency once more. The guide is nice
It's a very beautiful temple. Even though the weather is hot, the atmosphere inside the temple is incredibly stunning. The statues and the paintings on the walls showcase a unique Thai artistic style. It’s truly beautiful. I highly recommend everyone come here to experience Thai art.
Cham is an excellent tour guide. He explained the history of the wats and the palace very well. He looked after our tour group, made sure we were safe and comfortable.
An enriching and very pleasant experience, excellent treatment and Service by the team, the guide was very nice and the inflation I do not provide was very good, thank you very much
