This is an incredible way to get a taste of Thai cuisine in 3 hours & to experience a city market that is off the beaten track for most tourists. After a short walk from our meeting point our guide led us into the bowels of the market which was just starting to fill up with people in search of lunch. The smells wafting through the market from the hundreds of small stalls & kitchens was heady & enough to wake up the taste buds of anyone who thought they weren't hungry. We were asked which dish we would like to start with - fish or pork option - but after that Julie our guide just kept darting back into the jungle of stalls & coming back with new dishes for us to try. The long tables around us filled up until there was hardly a spare seat. We sampled such an enticing plethora of dishes, brimming with prawns, pork & vegetables, lemongrass, tamarind & noodles of every kind some fiery, some fragrant. The stroll to the water taxi afterward was much needed & the boat was the best place to be in the Bangkok heat. A wonderful way to get a taste of Thailand in one meal. Our only suggestions: could perhaps be a bit better tailored to the number of people to avoid wasting too much gorgeous food! A bit of walking between markets and tasting a few things at each would be good and more info from the guide about the area & market itself.

Itinerary
In the heart of Sukhumvit, Asoke is where modern Bangkok works, shops and eats, all within a few busy city blocks.
A true local favourite, this market is where people working in Asoke come to eat, far from the usual tourist trail.
No Bangkok experience feels more local than jumping on the express boat along Khlong Saen Saep. Weaving through the city's backwater arteries, this 18-kilometre canal cuts straight through neighbourhoods tourists rarely reach — wooden shophouses, spirit shrines, and laundry lines strung above the water. After a morning spent eating your way through the city, it's the perfect way to decompress, catch a breeze, and watch everyday Bangkok life drift by from the water.
Finish at one of Bangkok’s best-known shopping districts, famous for its clothing markets and endless rows of stalls.
