Bang Pa-In Royal Palace, also known as the Summer Palace, is a palace complex formerly used by the Thai kings. A number of impressive buildings can be found in the palace complex, built in very different architectural styles, some in classical Thai, some Chinese and some European design.
Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon was founded in the second half of the 14th century during the reign of King U Thong, first ruler of Ayutthaya. Highlight of the monastery is its very large imposing prang dominating the area. century. During the Burmese invasion of 1767 the temple was largely destroyed.
Wat Mahathat, also known as the Monastery of the Great Relic, is believed to have been built around the 14th century and was once residence to the Supreme Patriarch leader of the Thai Buddhist monks. The most popular tourist attraction of Wat Mahathat is a tree whose roots have grown around the head of the Buddha statue.
This famous temple is situated on the south of Wat Phra Si Sanphet. Its large bronze seated Buddha image or Phra Mongkhon Bophit is one of the largest bronze Buddha images in Thailand with its measures of 9.5 meters across the lap and a height of 12.5 meters. During the fall of Ayutthaya, the building and the image were badly destroyed by fire. The present Vihara and Buddha image have been reconstructed and renovated in the reign of King Rama V.
Used mainly for ceremonies that served to authenticate the king’s spiritual and moral authority, Wat Phra Si Sanphet was the official royal temple. No monks lived here and only people within the royal circle were allowed to enter. Destroying Wat Phra Si Sanphet and the Royal Palace was a priority of the invading Burmese. They melted down 160 kilos of gold from the Phra Buddha Chai Sri Sanphet image and set fire to everything else. The distinctive pagodas of Wat Phra Si Sanphet are one of the most famous sights in Ayutthaya.
Wat Chaiwatthanaram was built in 1630 by King Prasat Thong during the later period of Ayutthaya. It was built to commemorate his mother's hometown and to celebrate his coronation. The main prang is surrounded by many lesser prangs and towers in eight directions. Wat Chaiwatthanaram was a royal monastery. The King and its descendants would perform religious rites here. It was also a cremation site for members of the Royal family. With its Khmer-style buildings, Wat Chaiwatthanaram is one of the most impressive ancient temples in Ayutthaya.

Good experience, started off rocky with transportation as our pickup from the hotel tried to drop us at a random location and we weren’t given any info once we did make it to the correct meetup location until I had reached out to the whatsapp number. The rest of the tour was good and our tour guide John did a great job showing us around and giving us a taste of the history of Ayutthaya.
This should be advertised as a taxi service. While the guide was a very nice person, their English was not very good. What very little historical information given was very difficult to understand. The majority of our time was being asked if we wanted photos. Nothing special about this tour at all. If you're looking for a truly interesting experience, this is not it. Also and obviously, it's very hot. I recommend packing your shorts and sandals to change into after the palace. And bring water. Only one bottle is provided. Also, bring cash and toilet paper for the bathroom breaks.
Coco our guide made the day for us. She was so kind and new a lot background to all the temples. She’s very funny and every now and then we had a really good laugh. In the end she even made sure that we got into the right underground line back to our hotel. The tour itself is very interesting if you’re a bit into the history of the country itself. And if your not, you’ll get curious. To be fair, after the third temple you’ve seen it and you don’t really need to get into the fourth and fifth one. But that’s not a big deal, in our case Coco asked us if we wanted to go inside the last two temples or not. So you can decide whether you want to go or not. This is very important because you have to pay for the temple entrances. It’s not pre paid with the tour. The hight of admission fee is different for each temple but somewhere between 50 & 100 baht per person. Our group was very cool and definitely not to big. We were seven guests plus Coco. The trip was really a full day, meeting in the morning worked out very well and the day felt shorter than it was. Coco took us to a very nice little restaurant by the river for lunch, which you pay by yourself.
Jon the guide and the driver Mr Pong were very accommodating and kind! Please book it if you like to learn history!!! When the company asked me to change my chosen schedule I was a bit concerned if they would cancel because my schedule in Bangkok was already compromised but thankfully they were able to do the chosen date and time that I booked originally, I ended up being the only one on this tour. Jon was very very knowledgeable, he shared a lot of information with me which I think that’s what I liked the most of this tour, I love knowing about the history and customs of the places I visit and probably this has been one of my favorite tours ever. He answered to all the questions I had about Thailand, thai people, plants, animals, food, Buddhism and of course Ayutthaya. He even made sure to offer taking pictures of me in every spot. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me! The car was clean and Mr Pong was always cleaning it! it smelled a little bit of humidity inside but it was very clean and well maintained, the AC was on during the whole trip and they kept insisting on opening and closing the door for me. We did a couple of breaks in between which was very much appreciated as it was really hot and I’m not used to it. The seatbelts were working which is always good. For lunch we went to a local restaurant and Jon thankfully was able to order something vegan for me, stir fried vegetables, mushrooms and tofu with a side of rice, it was really yummy and nutritious after standing in the sun for several hours. I will make sure to book more tours with this company whenever I get back to Thailand, khob kuhn ka!!!
We had a great day hitting the high points of Ayutthaya and the surrounding area. The pacing was very reasonable and our guide, Coconut, was very knowledgeable. She had a good sense of humor and her explanations were helpful and her feel for the group's dynamics was solid. King was an excellent driver who was very attentive to the group's timings. Overall the experience was a pleasant way to cover a lot of ground in a short period of time. I recommend you consider this tour for an initial dive into the Ayutthaya period of Thai history.
The best way to spend an extra day in Bangkok! The vibrant Thai history and culture were brought to life with stories about each incredible location, and every place was so unique and photogenic. Coco was an amazing and informative guide/pro photographer and made this an 11/10 tour. There was so much to see, but the pacing was just right and never felt overwhelming, with plenty of free time to explore. The lunch stop was also a cute little spot right on the river with some delicious authentic food...highly recommend the stir-fried snakehead! Would do this again in a heartbeat, and highly recommend to any and all who enjoy taking a trip back in tme and getting immersed in an incredibly rich culture.
It was a very lovely day, and our guide, Coconut, was also really great. Additionally , she is a very good photographer. I highly recommend her to everyone.
Joyce did a great job, his english is strong and he made sure to take pictures for everyone. Had a great time!
Visited many historical sites over the day. Joyce was easy to coordinate pick up with, and the car trip was comfortable and airconditioned. Joyce was a very knowledgeable guide, giving us historical context to each site. He was also thoughtful enough to take photos, and provide refreshments throughout the day. A filling, delicious Thai lunch was also included at no extra cost.
We had a really fun trip. The sites were amazing and our tour guide Joyce was very friendly and an excellent photographer!
Joyce was absolutely EXCEPTIONAL! Incredibly knowledgeable and the tour was very well paced. He is also an excellent photographer and knows all the good spots! Would absolutely recommend to anything and thank you Joyce!
Enjoyed seeing the temples and ancient ruins of Ayutthaya and learning more about Thailand’s history. It was a nice day trip from Bangkok and a good cultural experience. Admission cost is adequate. If you want a more personal and interactive visit then book private but this was good for an introduction to the history.
Great experience and excellent explanations
Learned a lot. Full packed day. Restaurant was amazing.
Lots of sites to see, guide gave a good balance of information sharing and free time. All admission fees were paid for which made it a seamless day.
Had a great trip! Great guide very informative and kept us organized.
Nana-Neng the guide and Tom the driver, were excellent. We had a great time in Ayutthaya and the Palace thanks to Neng's vast knowledge .and Tom's driving skills. We will definitely use this company on our next visit to Bangkok.
Hot day to explore, but the sites are worth seeing and the guide has a ton of information.
We enjoyed our full day in Ayutthaya with our guide, Coconut. She was very caring and helpful. She helped us take many photos and explained the history of the temples. Thank you, Coconut!
This was a beautiful trip with amazing destinations. It just kept getting better. Kim was a wonderful guide and made the group feel very comfortable.
The trip is ok, guide and driver were nice, the lunch restaurant was very good.
Good food stop at nice location at the river. Perfect organization.
Coco was an amazing host! Definitely worth the money. Bring lots of water and electrolytes!
Ms. Coco was amazing. What a seemless trip!!! Thank you!!!
Prompt honest service. Had a good time.
A fantastic day full of interesting sites. Great communication in advance. Highly recommend. Thank you!
Great time - efficient way to see all the attractions of Ayutthaya. Joyce made everything very easy and was very knowledgeable about the history of each site. Also a great photographer!
This was a great tour. Wan was very knowledgeable and attentive. She even helped us find the right subway back to our hotel.
Coco, coconut, THE COCO CHANEL, coco the tour guide was seriously the highlight of this trip! We booked this last minute and had nothing short of the best time. Everything was safe, pickup was easy and straightforward. The 5 stops we stopped at were INCREDIBLE. 3/5 are unesco world heritage sites which is truly a once in a lifetime, but the absolute gem of our trip, was coco our tour guide. She was so knowledgeable and kind, made sure we got the best spot for pictures, told us so much history and I hope is now a friend for life! If you are looking for a wonderful way to spend a day emerging yourself in culture and history and also spending a day with a real local, look no further. This is the tour for you. 10/10 no complaints it was a truly once in a life time.
It was a great day. The guide always took care of us and had a lot wisdom sharing amazing information. I really appreciated her comments towards a responsible tourism and community sensitivity.
Guide Won is very nice. She explain everything. She takes care even for small things. Driver was very nice. He was driving keeping safety in mind. Very smooth ride.
Coco was extremely friendly. Had a great time with her
I had a wonderful private tour with Ken and our driver Praem of some UNESCO temples. It was very interesting and Ken was very knowledgeable and very helpful and friendly. He gave me a whole new insight into the history of Siam/Thailand which I really enjoyed. Praem was a very good and safe driver I felt comfortable with. I would certainly recommend this tour to other solo travellers like myself
After horrendous traffic, our guide Coco waited for us for a half hour past the agreed-upon pick up time. She then took us on an amazing tour of numerous temples. Coco is so sweet and caring and funny, she took care of us like she was our mother during the day.
Ken was knowledgeable and professional. He even threw in a few humorous stories about growing up around the temples. Enjoyed the tour from start to finish. Lunch was plentiful and delicious.
Guided tour of 5 temple sets with experienced guide Coco!
Ken is amazing! Great tour outside of Bangkok.
Wan was excellent guide, very nice and knowledgeable. The tour is a bit repetitive and could use another element that is not temples/palace
It was a great experience with John and Nut. Had a great day exploring Ayutthaya. Both of them are very courteous and friendly. It is a must do activity if you are in Bangkok and exploring the history of Thailand.
Bond was amazing! He was so sweet, friendly, and very informative throughout the entire tour. He made the experience so much fun and took such great pictures of me, which I really appreciated. I had such a great time and would definitely book with him again. Highly recommend Bond! 😊
Enjoyed the variety of experiences. My guide was kind, caring and very helpful. She was able to talk about the landmarks, the history, culture and the local experiences. She introduced me to some excellent local cuisine. My driver was courteous, safe and knowledgeable. Thank you all for a memorable day!
Excellent tour guide who gave an overload of information for the entire time. Very friendly and eager to share his countries history with foreigners. Opt’d into the pick up package which was very nice but finding the meeting place at the MRT station is also very easy. I recommend doing the early morning one to avoid crowds during peak season & rush hour traffic returning to Bangkok
Great experience. Guide was full of knowledge. Very kind and patient. Driver was very courteous, polite and a good driver. Would recommend both.
Great value for money! All stops were unique and worth the look!
Nice experience, Wan is a exceptionalguide
Good trip visiting 1 palace and 4 temples. Mr Bond the tour guide was knowledgeable and lots of interesting facts about the temples and Buddha statues.
We had a great day trip to Ayutthaya in a small group of only four people. Pickup was easy at Silom MRT station, where our guide Piya was waiting at the indicated exit. The drive to Ayutthaya went very smoothly. I did the tour during rainy season, which actually worked in our favor. There were very few tourists, so we could see everything properly and take great photos. Piya knew all the best photo spots and happily took pictures of us, sometimes maybe even a little too enthusiastically! 😄 Piya gave plenty of information about the temples and their history. His explanations were very detailed, although sometimes quite long, making it a little difficult to jump in with a question. He initially suggested replacing one of the temples, but I had specifically chosen the tour for its itinerary. After discussing it with the group, we kept the original program, which I appreciated. The order of stops can change depending on weather, traffic and crowds. Don’t let rainy season forecasts scare you too much. It rained much less than predicted, and the temples provide free umbrellas if needed. I recommend booking without the entrance tickets included. Everyone in our group did this, and buying them at the entrances was quick and easy. The lunch restaurant was also tasty and not expensive. If visiting in 2026, and possibly 2027, be aware that the large gold covered Buddha statue is being renovated and currently hidden by scaffolding and covers. A nice extra came at the end. Piya mentioned another temple with a golden Buddha in Bangkok, which I was planning to visit afterwards. He arranged to drop us off there instead, and three of the four people in our group visited it. Very convenient! Overall, a very enjoyable and well organized day trip with a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide.
I can see Piya put a lot of effort with explanation. He able to speak English well. He also helps me to take a lot of pictures. Worth to visit Ayutthaya. This is my first time learning about Thailand history after visiting many times in Bangkok.
This was a very good tour. Our guide WAN did a very good job. She was informative and treated us very well. The restaurant selection for lunch was also very good. It was called Ruan Kamon. Thank you for a great tour!
