We initially planned this visit as an add on to a trip to Thailand, with the convenience of a tour from Bangkok a high draw. We had an initial bump in the plans due to the closure of the Thailand Cambodia border which made a drive from Bangkok impossible. Vithyea, our guide and linkage to the Angkor Partner Travel Tours group reached out and said we could still tour if we could fly over to Siem Reap instead. He provided a substantial refund given the land pickup in Thailand was not possible. Upon our arrival,Vithyea (who goes by Chang) and our driver Perron were ready to introduce their beautiful and proud country to us. From the first day’s visit to the floating villages (with the only negative part the floating restaurant with a small alligator pen) through the Angkor Wat complex, Chang navigated us through and provided excellent details on the history, culture, and people of the area. There’s a lot of walking through the amazing complex, so wear solid shoes! But Chang and Perron got us to the main temple at sunrise, provided key breaks during the day to recharge, and had plenty of cold bottled water and cool towels with menthol to refresh us from the heat. We were especially struck by the very light crowds both at Angkor Wat but also at the hotel and restaurants. This is in large part due to the border closure which with the still lingering impacts from the pandemic have really strained the tourist industry and the local economy. Chang noted we were his first tour in over a month. Definitely encourage you to go see the beauty of Cambodia, even if the thought of having to add a flight to your plans is not initially favored. We got very reasonably priced tickets on Bangkok Airlines and the flight was only an hour (and included a nice meal). You will not be disappointed in taking this tour.

Angkor Wat (/ˌæŋkɔːr ˈwɒt/; Khmer: អង្គរវត្ត, "City/Capital of Temples") is a temple complex in Cambodia and one of the largest religious monuments in the world, on a site measuring 162.6 hectares (1,626,000 m2; 402 acres).[1] Originally constructed as a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu for the Khmer Empire, it was gradually transformed into a Buddhist temple towards the end of the 12th century.[2] It was built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II[3] in the early 12th century in Yaśodharapura (Khmer: យសោធរបុរៈ, present-day Angkor), the capital of the Khmer Empire, as his state temple and eventual mausoleum. Breaking from the Shaiva tradition of previous kings, Angkor Wat was instead dedicated to Vishnu. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant religious centre since its foundation. The temple is at the top of the high classical style of Khmer architecture. It has become a symbol of Cambodia,[4] appearing on its national flag, and it is the country's prime attraction for visitors.[5] Angkor Wat combines two basic plans of Khmer temple architecture: the temple-mountain and the later galleried temple. It is designed to represent Mount Meru, home of the devas in Hindu mythology: within a moat more than 5 kilometres (3 mi) long[6] and an outer wall 3.6 kilometres (2.2 mi) long are three rectangular galleries, each raised above the next. At the centre of the temple stands a quincunx of towers. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Angkor Wat is oriented to the west; scholars are divided as to the significance of this. The temple is admired for the grandeur and harmony of the architecture, its extensive bas-reliefs, and for the numerous devatas adorning its walls.
Angkor Thom (Khmer: អង្គរធំ pronounced [ʔɑːŋ.kɔː.tʰum]; literally: "Great City"), (alternative name: Nokor Thom, នគរធំ) located in present-day Cambodia, was the last and most enduring capital city of the Khmer empire. It was established in the late twelfth century by King Jayavarman VII.[1]:378–382[2]:170 It covers an area of 9 km², within which are located several monuments from earlier eras as well as those established by Jayavarman and his successors. At the centre of the city is Jayavarman's state temple, the Bayon, with the other major sites clustered around the Victory Square immediately to the north. It is also a very big tourist attraction, and people come from all over the world to find it.
The Bayon (Khmer: ប្រាសាទបាយ័ន, Prasat Bayon) is a richly decorated Khmer temple at Angkor in Cambodia. Built in the late 12th or early 13th century as the state temple of the Mahayana Buddhist King Jayavarman VII (Khmer: ព្រះបាទជ័យវរ្ម័នទី ៧), the Bayon stands at the centre of Jayavarman's capital, Angkor Thom (Khmer: អង្គរធំ).[1][2] Following Jayavarman's death, it was modified and augmented by later Hindu and Theravada Buddhist kings in accordance with their own religious preferences. The Bayon's most distinctive feature is the multitude of serene and smiling stone faces on the many towers which jut out from the upper terrace and cluster around its central peak.[3] The temple has two sets of bas-reliefs, which present a combination of mythological, historical, and mundane scenes. The main conservatory body, the Japanese Government Team for the Safeguarding of Angkor (the JSA) has described the temple as "the most striking expression of the baroque style" of Khmer architecture, as contrasted with the classical style of Angkor Wat (Khmer: ប្រាសាទអង្គរវត្ត).
Preah Khan (Khmer: ប្រាសាទព្រះខ័ន; "Royal Sword") is a temple at Angkor, Cambodia, built in the 12th century for King Jayavarman VII to honor his father.[1]:383–384,389[2]:174–176 It is located northeast of Angkor Thom and just west of the Jayatataka baray, with which it was associated. It was the centre of a substantial organisation, with almost 100,000 officials and servants. The temple is flat in design, with a basic plan of successive rectangular galleries around a Buddhist sanctuary complicated by Hindu satellite temples and numerous later additions. Like the nearby Ta Prohm, Preah Khan has been left largely unrestored, with numerous trees and other vegetation growing among the ruins.
Ta Prohm (Khmer: ប្រាសាទតាព្រហ្ម, pronunciation: prasat taprohm) is the modern name of the temple at Angkor, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia, built in the Bayon style largely in the late 12th and early 13th centuries and originally called Rajavihara (in Khmer: រាជវិហារ). Located approximately one kilometre east of Angkor Thom and on the southern edge of the East Baray, it was founded by the Khmer King Jayavarman VII[1]:125[2]:388 as a Mahayana Buddhist monastery and university. Unlike most Angkorian temples, Ta Prohm is in much the same condition in which it was found: the photogenic and atmospheric combination of trees growing out of the ruins and the jungle surroundings have made it one of Angkor's most popular temples with visitors. UNESCO inscribed Ta Prohm on the World Heritage List in 1992. Today, it is one of the most visited complexes in Cambodia’s Angkor region. The conservation and restoration of Ta Prohm is a partnership project of the Archaeological Survey of India and the APSARA (Authority for the Protection and Management of Angkor and the Region of Siem Reap).

We have been traveling for a month and this tour was the best we’ve had so far. Our guide, Bunrong, went over and above to make our experience amazing. His English is excellent and his knowledge of the history of the region and the temples was informative and entertaining. We highly recommend Bunrong for anyone taking this tour!
Mr T and Lucky were fantastic. They made the whole trip enjoyably and were knowledgeable guides. Days were very hot but the car was always ready and cool when it was time to go to the next place
Great tour; and very HOT. Guide was informative. New his stuff, and offered extra information and questions to think about. Thank you. Wow!
Angkor Wat is a true gem and highlight for this Cambodian adventure! The grandeur and enormity was humbling and unforgettable! We took the three day tour from Bangkok. The total drive is about 5-6 hours, but the passport control at the Thai border was arduous. We spent one hour leaving Thailand and one hour entering Thailand at the passport control stations. By contrast, Cambodia passport control was quick and efficient. Less than 10 minutes in each direction. Viator did offer very good assistance with helping to direct us in both directions. We were grateful for that team’s assistance. I have to report our guide’s proficiency in English was poor. He seemed like a really nice guy, but it was very challenging to understand what he was saying. Happily, the splendour of the temples speak for themselves! They are amazing archeological sites and fantastic to visit and experience. The city of Siem Reap is quite lively with vivacious Pub Street and surrounding areas! I would definitely recommend visiting Siem Reap and Angkor Wat, but would think twice about using the land border crossing from Bangkok. Also, I’m not sure how you can guarantee a guide who can communicate freely and easily, but that would have helped!
I have taken many Viator tours around the world and they have been consistently reliable and excellent. This was an exception. It was not at all a tour and it was not what I considered to be a safe experience for a solo woman traveler. The driver picking me up at the hotel in Bangkok spoke no English and could not explain the trip plans to me or answer any questions. It was a six hour drive. No water was provided on any portion of the trip. After driving 3 hours from Bangkok to the Cambodian border, I was dropped off several blocks from the Customs offices. There was no one to greet me or direct me. A boy who spoke no English and had nothing identifying him as being with the “tour” company took my bag and walked me towards the Customs offices, dropping me off at the base of a very steep and long set of stairs. Speaking no English, he could not explain where I was to go or what I was supposed to do. Being older and with an injured leg limiting my ability to use stairs, it was very difficult for me to climb these steps with heavy luggage. Going through Customs in Thailand was a smooth process. When I finally got through customs in Thailand, I had to go down a long set of stairs with all my bags only to find no one there to direct me through the businesses that exist between the borders. Carrying my bags, I finally found someone who could direct me to the Cambodia Customs office which was a few blocks away. I faced another set of many steep stairs with my luggage while other tourists with tour guides were able to proceed on the first level. Again, this was not a “tour”. Luckily I had completed the e-visa form online. I waited 20 minutes in line only to be told I needed to complete another e-arrival form that could not be completed online. No one could tell me where to find the form. I finally found and completed it. And then waited in line again for a long time. When I finally got through the Cambodian customs, I went down the stairs and found no one waiting for me to take me to Siem Reap. Many men approached me to offer me a ride. My “tour” guide/driver was no where to be found. I did not know where to wait and I did not feel safe waiting there alone. A boy approached me and asked me to come with him. He did not speak English or have anything identifying him with a tour group. When I declined to go with him, he got someone else to show me a photo taken of me by the prior driver on his cell phone. I reluctantly went with him to a van where the driver did not speak English. We drove for another 3 hours with no water provided. The hotel was very nice but it had no hot water in the shower. I did not feel comfortable with the tour guide in Siam Reap for the following reasons; 1. I did not appreciate him telling me to tip the boat driver who had already been paid by the tour company; I had no money with me as I had no idea what we would be doing two hours after I just arrived. He tipped the boat driver and instructed me to pay him back. 2. When he recommended a dinner place for a cultural performance, there was an expectation I would pay for his beer and listen to him tell me about his life struggles. He suggested going with him at Pub Street, which I declined. 3. At the Angkor Wat ticket area, my prepaid ticket went through quickly. We then waited ten minutes because he did not have the right documentation for a guide. 4. In the middle of the tour, we waited for him to get and eat a coconut. 5. At the restaurant where we stopped for lunch, I was expected to pay for his lunch and drink. 6. When I was done with my lunch, I waited another ten minutes for him to finish his lunch. I had one day to see Angkor Wat, I spent 12 hours in the car to have this one day experience, I did not plan to spend my “tour” time paying for my tour guide to have an extended lunch. 7. When the waitress didnt come with our bill, he did nothing to assist in getting it so we waited another ten minutes until I went to get her. She then tried to charge me for the food/drinks ordered by the people at the table next to us who I saw pay her already. My guide was not helpful in sorting this out and did nothing when she failed to bring me my change. When I went to get the change myself, she was unable to provide the right change and gave me the wrong change in different currencies. My guide did nothing. 8. When I texted Viator before returning to Thailand, they assured me I would have an English speaking person to assist me with luggage at the border, but the driver didnt pick up the person who was supposed to assist me. 9. After asking several times for water, none was provided on any portion of the 12 hours we were driving. I was later told they never provide water even on six hour drives. 10. When I got to the Cambodian border, the tour person who was supposed to assist me on the way from Thailand actually showed up and carried the bags across the border, guiding me between the two border crossings and then walking me several blocks to wait for the next driver in Thailand. He apologized for not assisting me on the way from Thailand but that did not make up for the stress, baggage challenges, and safety issues I experienced. 11. The driver in the next van was not told what hotel I was to be dropped off at in Bangkok even after the tour person was right there to tell him, but forgot. 12. This was definitely not a “tour” and not an experience I would recommend to anyone.
A very well organized tour that included not only the transportation but a complex set of temple visits. The highest grades go to our amazing tour guide, Mr Sothy and the driver, Mr Panna, who went above and beyond in making our experience at Angkor Wat unforgettable.
Guides were helpful and knowledgeable. English was a bit of an issue for drivers but they were so helpful and eager to accommodate . Hotel was comfortable and had excellent breakfast included. The drive from Bangkok was six long hours. The first van had only one seat belt. The driver told us nothing about what to expect at the border. We left items in the van thinking it would meet us after clearing customs. Instead we had a completely different driver and van in Cambodia. We were met by a very helpful person who saw us through from Thailand to Cambodia and back again. The Cambodian driver was so helpful the entire three days he was with us. It was like a private tour because It was just the two of us. The tour gave us a genuine look at Cambodian life and the incredible Anghor Wat ruins. Well worth the money.
Had a great trip, pickup went smooth, got assistance over the border, which can be quite slow be aware if this in your planning. We rode with a couple of different drivers due to the border crossing but they verified with pictures so you know you are getting into the correct car. During the guided tour itself they were very accommodating making extra stops if necessary. Adjusting start time if you want the sunrise or sleep in etc. Nice guide with good English knowledgeable about both the historic sites and general history. The hotel was also nice and clean, overall a great trip!
Overall a great experience. Bun was a fantastic guide and answered my questions about the history of each temple we explored as well as giving me great recommendations for places to check out in the evening. The crossing of the border to Cambodia was confusing and I wish there had been more clear communication on what to expect but it worked out and coming back to Bangkok was a much easier trip. I think this trip is better with a group vs a solo traveler but I still enjoyed it a lot and am very thankful to Bun for his guidance throughout.
Dear Management Team, Normally, I don’t write reviews, but today was a truly special day, and I felt compelled to share our experience. The reason for this was the knowledge, kindness, and professionalism of Bunrong. He was incredibly friendly, spoke excellent English, had a great sense of humor, and displayed genuine empathy throughout the tour. Thanks to him, our visit to Angkor Wat became a 5-star experience. My wife and I wholeheartedly recommend him to future tourists from all over the world. Thank you for connecting us with Bunrong. We hope many other tourists will have the privilege of enjoying the same exceptional experience we had with him. He truly understands what it means to be an outstanding tour guide. Kind regards, Servi and Esther
Very well organized trip, easy transfers and smooth border cross both ways (having the e-visa). Special thanks to Chivoan - he made our long trip from the boarder to Siem Reap a pleasure with his insightfull conversation - and to Bunrong - our considerate and very knowleadgable guide. A recommendation for organisers: you should check your clients' experience with Tara Angkor hotel, their water scam is disgusting.
The transportation piece of getting from Bangkok to Thai border and through the border into Cambodia was a disaster. They dropped us off a couple blocks from the border without any instructions. Then they pointed to follow some guy in a baseball cap and suddenly 11 people followed him ( not private). The guy lost us and we were lost on our own for an hour until we found out back to the scuzzy looking alley we started at—after being approached by many people offering rides, to sell us things, etc. eventually we were taken to the bottom of the exit stairs for Thailand and told us if we gave them an extra $11 each they would give us more help. To which we said no and took another hour through the border. Then we wandered around Cambodia until some guy said he was our guide. It worked out and the actual Angkor Wat guide—Chuy, was fantastic. On the way back it was the same sketchy wandering around at the border until a couple of school children pointed the path to Thailand. We got back, walked to the sketchy alley, eventually got in the car after being yelled out by the person in charge of the transport because he didn’t have our address—the same hotel address we got picked up at 2 days before and had given from the US—but took at least 6 hours from the border because he got lost. No English and he could not seem to understand the hotel key address or our gps. Be warned that this is not as advertised! This is not a private tour where you are assisted through the border. I really feel my money should be returned for all the stress it caused us.
Words cannot describe how incredible this trip was! From pick up to drop off, the whole experience was amazing (even the massive traffic jam returning to Bangkok was an experience!). Seeing Angkor Wat has been a dream come true, and to see it at sunrise was absolutely stunning. Our guide Sawa was extremely knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. He even arranged a table at the evening Apsara Show, and a birthday cake surprise for my birthday. Highly recommend this trip if you have time. It was a good break from the craziness of Bangkok.
Bun or Boon ( our tour guide in Siem Reap ) was a fantastic source of Khner history or Angkor Wat history .. He delivers his efpkanations with gusto and action .
We took the 3 day tour originating from Bangkok. First place, everything was according to the advertisement and descriptions. Well, of course that should always be so! Second however, all expectations were surpassed. The drivers were on time picking us up from the BKK hotel, taking us to the boarder, and after a change af cars and drivers taking us to Siem Reap hotel. Everybody was very helpful at the boarder, knowing how to get things done speedy! The hotel -which we did not know about beforehand- turned oiut to be a quiete new tourist/business type of hotel. Quiet and also equiped with a little restaurant area. Definitely better than most LAX airport hotels (I talk about the better ones belonging to large chains). The city in many oarts very new and modern. Finally the tour guide Mr Sothy AK T (called Mr T): he and the driver Iteng made the day and the tour very special for us. Completely oriented on what we wanted and flexible and explaining things with an astonishable large number of dates and facts: Thanks guys, well done. We could not have done better in seeing such a richdom of history and a beautifully develloping country in such a short time. kurt judmann
Wonderful communication from start to finish. Completely customized according to our wishes - including last minute requests. The transportation was terrific. The tours were private and very well done. The hotel was great. I would recommend this tour to any of my friends or family without hesitation.
Angkor Wat is truly amazing! Our guide Johnny was knowledgeable, professional and very kind. Accommodated our pace and our photographs. Took us to a good place for lunch. Highly recommended. A good hotel and good drivers. The only glitch was at the border crossing from Thailand to Cambodia, when our first handler abandoned some of us. The other people who helped at the border were great.
Fantastic, well staged tour sequence. Driving time from Bangkok to Siem Reap was a bit tedious at 5+ hours, but fun to see the countryside. Border crossing is long and drawn out. Incredible 5 star hotel , really impressed. Angkor Wat was well worth the effort; truly amazing. We appreciated Rhak, our guide’s detailed knowledge of Hindu and Buddhist stories and traditions represented in the stone carvings and etching. Siem Reap is easy to navigate, lots of tuk-tuks around, very hungry for tourists and everyone is eager to please. Everything is Cambodian riels (around 4000/dollar) and also US $ labeled and welcomed. Thai bhats also welcomed. Tons of ATM’s that will dispense riels or US $. Great trip!
We enjoyed Cambodia very much and the company worked well with me to customize what I wanted to do. As this was not my first trip but was for my husband and I wanted things not in tour. That being said the transport both times on the Thailand said was not good. The van kept leaking water from the AC all over us. I was not a fan !
Great trip to the outstanding archeological site Angkor Wat. Our group was promptly picked up at our hotel for the all day drive to Cambodia and Siem Reap. The driver gave us a pit stop every 1.5 hour or so to break up the drive. We crossed the border at Poi Pet. A handler met us there to help in going through immigration control, and all went smoothly and relatively quickly. We were prepared with the Cambodian e-visa. We transferred to another driver on the Cambodia side and proceeded to the hotel, which is quite nice and 4 star rated. In the afternoon, we visited the Floating Village at Tonle Sap Lake. We loved the scenery since it is similar to our home area in south Louisiana. The next day was a long and hot day visiting several major temples at the Angkor Wat site. Our guide spoke English reasonably well, though not perfectly fluent. He explained the history and architecture for the various temples, We also just enjoyed talking to him about life in Cambodia and its recent, but tragic history. We had plenty of opportunity for photos, videos, and questions. The guide is proud of his heritage and loves working with tourists. We enjoyed the antiquities very much. After the long day, we enjoyed the hotel pool and cocktails at sunset. The food quality was very good. Most of the hotel staff spoke English. The next morning we got an early start for the return to Bangkok. We had about a 2 hour delay at the border crossing at Poi Pet; many said it was a surge in visitors for the Chinese New Year. Overall, the excursion was well organized and executed. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a great trip. In addition, we saved a lot of money compared to the price our cruise ship wanted for the same excursion. Highly recommended.
Sava was an excellent, knowledgeable, and interesting guide! We loved every minute of our 2 days with him!
The hotel and Angkor Wat temples were amazing. Way better than we expected. Taking 3-days tour is way better than 2-day. WE had extra chance to enjoy the hotel, massage and evening in the city. Transportation and crossing the border was very smooth. The only minus was on the way back when we hit a huge traffic on the border and it took us 3 hours to line-up on the way to Thailand. The reason was beginning of the Chinese New Year. But the local staff knows those holidays and they could advise us about the traffic, so we would leave maybe a day before late evening and the trip back to Bangkok would take us 6-7 hours instead of 10 hrs. But overall, it was a very good experience, extremely polite and welcoming staff. We will have great memories.
Our tour Guide Nueng Bunrongneng was fantastic!! He shared a lot of facts and history along with some myths. He made sure we all stayed together and that we had plenty of water on hand. A very lovely man who looked out for us the 2 days we were together. There was 9 total in the group and neither of us and a complaint at all. It was a completely great experience. Neng info is 0179091919 Phone # +855 10 758 080 Thank you again Neng!
We give this tour 2 stars as there were only two good aspects; our tour give for the temple visits and the driver in Cambodia. We were traveling as a group of 9. Picked up in Bangkok hotel and made one stop before arriving at the border. At the border meet by a APTT representative who told us we could stand in line for our Cambodian Visa or he could expedite it for us for an additional 7$ USD per passport to be paid to him. Total of 40$ (33Visa, 7 to him). We choose to expedite, but it standing in line on your own was much faster as we watched countless people get their visas while we waited 90 min. Total scam! Our tour guide and driver in Cambodia were great; only downside is they take you to extremally touristry, expensive and marginal food places to eat. Family of four cost $50 USD to eat a tasteless lunch, but the restaurants were safe and no one got sick. The hotel in Cambodia is very average and all food/beverages on the expensive side. On our return trip to Thailand we left the hotel at 8:30. Once we arrived at the border we were told it take 4 hrs to enter Thailand, we asked why so long and they said due to upcoming new years holiday, and we should have arrived earlier, yet no one told us that. Once in Thailand we wanted to get going back to Bangkok immediately, but our driver was not ready. He put us in the van and we proceeded to wait 30 min for him to go to the toilet, smoke, get tea and some type of leaf. Then we were on the road and 45 min in we were stopping, and noticed our driver was having a hard time staying awake. We stopped every 45 to 60 min for the driver to stretch, walk around and get some tea. We had to watch everything on the road and make loud noises to help keep him awake. Several times he braked very hard to keep from hitting vehicles in front of us. We asked to drive and he refused. It tooks us 4 hours on the outbound trip to get from Bangkok to Border, going back to Bangkok it took us 6.5 hours, with same type of traffic. I DO NOT recommend this company.
Expensive for what included in the trip. Good tour guides a lot of info doing their best. Hotel was okay. Very long car journey
Tour within Cambodia was great. Returning to Bangkok was the problem. Nobody informed us that there was a Holiday in Thailand, which we can’t confirmed online. Because of the said Holiday we were stuck for 3.5 hours in the Immigration Border Control, with the big crowd. Additionally, the dispatcher at Thailand side, give us a taxi ride back to Bangkok. A dirty, cigarette-smoker smelling taxi. We had no choice to delay but to rush back to Bangkok to catch our flight.
Bunrong, my tour guide, was amazing. I enjoyed a lot his explanations, Ashe made the visit very lively and entertaining.
Angor Wat and surrounding temples are spectacular. Getting there with the Viator vendor was loosey goosey. We were given no information about where we were going after pickup at our hotel. Turned out we were driven to the Cambodia border where we had to do exiting from Thailand and then entry into Cambodia. We had obtained an Evisa for Cambodia, but others had not. The tour person asked for $10 each to avoid a line, but we still had to wait for others in the party to obtain their hand written visas. We had no idea who was to manage our group, but they took our pictures so they could recognize who they were supposed to transport. This was stressful and nerve wracking. As it turned out, we had our own individual guide and driver after we arrived at Siem Reap. The guide was excellent and went at a comfortable pace for us. The driver drove very fast with the check engine light and needs fuel light on. Guide took us to a restaurant with delicious food. Great site but exceptionally poor transit and border crossing, walking a few blocks and climbing stairs in the heat with our luggage.
The tour was amazing. Well worth the money. Our guide Narith was informative and very friendly we throughly enjoyed the experience.
We totally recommend this 3-day tour to Cambodia! A not-to-be-missed experience at the floating villages and Angkor Wat archaeological site. Our guide Vithyea was absolutely amazing, he really took good care of us throughout all the tour, very good english speaker giving us information for all historical, cultural and every day aspects of Cambodia. Our favourites: floating villages and Ta Prohm temple! It’s totally worth it!
We had an amazing time on this trip! I highly recommend the 2 nights as we saw so much of the Angkor complex and didn’t feel rushed at all. Our guide and drivers were all fantastic. If you’re in Bangkok treat yourselves to 2 nights in Cambodia - it’s well worth it!! Thank you guys!
This trip from Bangkok to Angkor Wat was an unforgettable experience! The hotel we stayed at (Tara Angkor) was beautiful and comfortable, the included breakfast buffet was quite a spead. Our tour guide Vithyea was simply amazing. His vast knowledge of history and culture made the tour informative and engaging. Visiting Pub Street was also a fun experience. The highlight of the tour, of course, was visiting Angkor Wat, Preah Khan, Bayon Temple and all of the Temple grounds. It was truly a magical experience, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cambodia. It's also worth noting that the extra $10 visa expediting fee to cross the border into Cambodia was well worth it, though be sure to allow extra time when crossing back into Thailand as the border crossing can move pretty slowly. Overall, our group had an incredible time and would definitely recommend this tour to others! If you have the time, take the time!
Seeing Angkor Wat was fantastic. The Siem Reap hotel, Cambodia tour guide, Vithyea and Cambodia driver made the whole trip worth while. The only negative was lack of information on what to expect at the Thailand and Cambodia border crossing. To sum it up: chaos, confusion and fear. As 3 females traveling together and know not a word of Thai or Cambodia language, being dropped of at a unknown location with people standing around and then grabbing your luggage, rushing you about then pointing you around was CHAOS. With your luggage and in the heat, we had a 15 minute walk to the unknown. We walked thru what seemed like a bad part of town to the border crossing office. If you had lots to carry, added by unexpected stairs and the heat, you would not be happy. We were very CONFUSED and FEARFUL . Being pointed to the unknown turned out to be Thai immigration. Finally after exiting Thai immigration, we were met by a tour representative who walked us thru the Cambodia side and fast tracked us thru the Cambodian immigration. That wasn't the end though. When returning back to the border crossing, we were lucky to have the Cambodian tour guide, Vithyea accompanied us back to Bangkok. We appreciated his assistance. What was unexpected was the 2 hour long line to go thru the Thai immigration. The tour company cannot control this part but communicating and suggesting the best times to go thru Thai immigration would be helpful. Taking this tour is not for the weak. It may be better to fly. Lack of instructive communication and some English speaking personnel at the border garnish this trip to 2 stars. Not to slight the Cambodian tour personnel, they made the trip memorable. Vithyea spoke such great English and even gave us some free time. We appreciated the historical insights. He also took us on a boat tour to the floating village. Amazing! His driver was also cognizant of being close by for pickup. Great people! It was hard to give a poor rating.
We booked a 3-day, 2-night tour for three adults and two children and were very satisfied with our experience. Everything was well-organized and worked smoothly. The tour agency proved to be reliable, and the hotel provided clean rooms and a good breakfast buffet. Our guide, Mr. T, was exceptional. He was very attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring that we all learned something new during the tour. He even went above and beyond by helping us take family group pictures. We highly recommend Mr. T and his tour agency. Thank you for a job well done!
We highly recommend this tour. Our guide, Soth Sothy, was attentive and friendly and provided a wonderful Cambodian experience. Visiting Cambodia was a very good experience where we learnt a lot about culture and met wonderful friendly people. A must do experience!
Sawa was our amazing guide for 2 days in and around Angkor Wat We had an amazing experience watching the sun setting at the floating village on Lake Tolne Sap followed by watching the sun rise over Angkor Wat itself the next day. He was a fantastic guide who made the trip and absolutely unforgettable experience filled with knowlage, majesty and Cambodian hospitality. Highly recommended.
Everything was really well organized. We were a little worried since we did not hear back between the booking and the trip. But on the day of the trip the driver waited for us at our hotel in Bangkok in time. The driver brought us to a man who helped us to cross the border. That man brought us to the driver in Cambodia. We left Bangkok at 7.00 and arrived in our hotel at around 15.00 (we did a lunch break on the way). At 16.00 we left for the lake. Next day all day visiting temples.we had a good guide. It would have been nice to have a choice between two or three different hotels. It would have been nice to be offered to see Angkor Wat at sunrise, wich other travelers were offered, but then it rained anyway. It was really good to have help across the border. All in all it was a very good experience and we would book it again! Well organized and good guide! Only the last driver to Laem Sok tried to tell us we would miss the boat and tried to drive us somewhere else, but we used google maps and in the end catchend our boat.
Everything was perfect! From the time they pick you up at the hotel, the crossing of the border and the arrival to the hotel, all people are very nice and welcoming. The hotel is wonderful, quiet and clean. My time with Mr.T (Sothy) was the time ever!! He explained to me every single detail at each temple. He loves his country and presentes it with proudness and dignity, I love that very much! I highly recommend his services. 😄
We’d highly recommend! The two day option was great to spend more time visiting 4 unique temples. The driver was friendly, the process to get across the border from Thailabd to Cambodia was well handled, and the tour guide was very informative. We had a very nice private van with AC and reclining seats. Very comfortable. The hotel / accommodation is right in downtown and makes for easy walking to explore Phnom Penh!
This was an great way to see Angkor Wat from Bangkok. A very convenient pick-up and drop off service, and the hotel at Siem Reap was a class above what I expected. My guide Mr Saruon made sure the experience was memorable. He explained the history and pointed out many interesting details as we walked around the multiple temples in the area, and was an enthusiastic photographer - leaving me with lots of amazing pictures and little videos. I took the optional sunrise start, highly recommend as the sun coming up from behind the temple towers is a truly remarkable sight. The floating village tour on the evening of arrival was also interesting, getting to see an entire village on the water, and it is timed with the sunset. Overall, an enjoyable tour.
We really enjoyed the floating city and the Angkor temples. Our guide Vithyea was wonderful. He had in-depth knowledge of the sites and the history of Cambodia. He shared his personal experiences that really helped us appreciate the hardships of the Cambodian people.
Everything about the tour was fantastic. People are friendly, well organized, you feel safe. The guide was very knowledgeable.
The travel to and from hotel in Bangkok was organized, always on time, and in clean and comfortable mini vans. Hotel and room were 5 star quality, breakfast included, great location and friendly staff. Trained tour guide, spoke excellent English, and was familiar with history and location of cultural sites on itinerary.
Our guide, Yuth, was extremely personable and accommodating. His knowledge of the multiple temples we visited was excellent. In particular his knowledge of Cambodian history was extensive. His tour was also not routine. For example, rather than entering Angkor Wat by the west entrance, which is what almost all tourists do, he took us through the east. As a result we had the temple almost to ourselves for quite a while. His willingness to share his culture and own story made the tour personal and unique. It was almost like being shown around by a friend. He coordinated with the driver, Wida, very well. The floating village boat experience added a special component to the tour. The transit from Bangkok to Siem Reap, the city where the temples are located, was an interesting and somewhat exciting experience. The drive to the border was about four hours after which we were turned over to two different guides that shepherded us through Thai and Cambodian border controls then handed us off to a new driver. None spoke much English so you had to have some faith, but everything worked out without a hitch. Knowing a little more about the border crossing process in advance would have reduced some anxiety. All in all, this was a long, but very enjoyable and rewarding trip.
This was a super last minute trip. We were inspired and decided the night before that we were going, and the tour operator, Vithyea was super helpful and accommodating! We were picked up from our Bangkok hotel and made the drive to the Cambodia border. The Thailand car is not able to cross the border so we had to go down and walk across. With bags in tow and the heat, it's a trek. Some parts we got help from our tour operators. There are spots with no elevators or escalators and we had to carry our luggage. My husband has back issues so we decided to just take the airplane back. Vithyea gladly gave us a credit for not using the land transportation back to Thailand. Since my husband has back issues, he's particular with the hotel bed as well. Vithyea arranged for us to check out a couple of other hotels until we found the right one. Again, he graciously gave us a credit for that portion of the package. Experiencing the Floating Village as well as the Temples were beyond amazing. My husband and I have been in a deep spiritual journey and we were pulled to visit this gem for a reason. Our tour guide, Mr Sava was really great in explaining the history of Cambodia and the significance of the spots we visited. Above that, the place just spoke to us in a way that words cannot do. Mr Sava also took us to eat yummy Cambodian food, watch traditional Cambodian dance and shopping! Really appreciate how he guided us and made us feel cared for. So grateful for Mr Vithyea, Mr Sava, our driver, Mr Phanna for giving us this amazing experience! Thank you so much!!! We will be back with our friends and family!
The tour was amazing.... The first day we visited floating Village (It Is a real One, very different from artificial you can see in Thailand). The second day, we visited Angkor temples... No words, magic place. Only bad point is the distance from Bangkok (trip Is too long), but I would do it again.
A lovely and very interesting educational tour of Cambodian culture, religion and history. Driver collected me at my hotel in Bangkok (he was late)! Then roughly 4.5 hrs drive to border of Thailand and Cambodia. We stopped for a snack and to use the restrooms. At the border I met the agent Mr. Aun who was very nice. The Border town (Aranyaprathet) is very busy, with the hustle and bustle of life, traffic and people so after a long drive I felt quite swept into it all! It’s not a very touristy place so as a tall ‘western looking’ black man, I was the feature of the day - compared to Bangkok, where it is more of a modern city vibe and I didn’t stand out as much. However I felt safe and Mr. Aun walked me over to the Visa office, where he took my passport to get the correct visa for me. I didn’t want to be separated from my passport, especially to a stranger I just met - but I believe Mr. Aun had already processed my visa in advance of my arrival which actually meant I didn’t have to stand in a long queue for hours to get my visa slip. Mr. Aun returned after 10 mins with my passport and I paid him approx. £45 ($52). The company did not tell me the price of this visa. I think it would have been helpful to be told how much cash to have spare for this - as if I did not take some cash out the day before I would have been very stuck. Take some cash guys!! Mr. Aun said goodbye and left me with another driver this time who then drove me onto Siam Reap in Cambodia. There I met Yuth who greeted me with the biggest smile and warm welcome. Yuth took me to eat lunch at a tourist friendly restaurant serving great tasting food. I had the stir fried veg and tofu with a mixed fruit smoothie. Yum. Yuth had good English and told me of his experience as a tour guide and explained what we would be doing on the tour. Yuth made me feel very welcome and with the driver we drove to the hotel and I checked in to the lovely Tara Angkor hotel. The following days were great with Yuth’s guidance and explanations of the history and religion in Cambodia. Yuth was amazing. His knowledge was great and he answered my many questions. The boat tour, and Angkor Wat visits were very memorable and enjoyable and I’d recommend this tour to any solo traveler (like me), duo or group. I wasn’t sure what to expect of the tour. Especially as a Londoner form a big city I thought I had an idea what Cambodia was like but was really happy to learn about the warm culture, and experience such a great way of life living alongside nature, traditional customs and modern society. I’d certainly go back.
Had a great short stay highlighted by our visit to Angkor Wat, which started with a direct pickup at our BKK hotel and arrival at our hotel in Siem Reap (Tara Angkor) after spending about 7hrs on the road. Got a little anxious at the Cambodian border, but we met a guide who made all the necessary arrangements. Our hotel was quaint but pleasant and the rooms were of a good size and kept clean daily. Our day 1 started with a lunch at a nearby local restaurant (good but with tourist prices indeed) then to a tour of Ton Le Sap Lake and the floating village. The tour was enlightening, educational and the good weather capped it with a beautiful sunset on the lake. Day 2 was all about our visit to Angkor Wat and the other nearby temples, concluding with Ta Prohm. Our tour guide for both days was Mr. Saroun, who was very knowledgeable, a good story-teller and a kind and proud Khmer, along with Mr. Lee, our driver for the whole 3 days. Highly recommend doing at least 3 days for this tour as 2 days would’ve been too tiring as the road trip from Bangkok takes a great deal of time. Also, it would pay to ask your tour operator the details of the tour (who will pick you up, steps at each stop, etc.) prior to make sure everything is set. Considering that we booked the tour only the day prior, it was definitely a worthwhile experience.
This is a fantastic trip that was run very well. The provided transportation to/from BKK and Siem Reap was on time and comfortable. The hotel, Angkor Holiday Hotel, is clean, comfortable, and in easy walking distance of dining and shopping. The trip includes assistance (Mr. Aun in my case) to help with the border crossings and I found this very useful. I found the trip to Tonle Sap and the floating village to be very interesting. We were there at sunset and it was awesome to see the sun setting over the floating village. The real treat is visiting Angkor Wat and the other sites nearby. This was made more special with Mr. Vithyea as my guide. Mr. Vithyea is very knowledgeable about the history of the area and was eager to share that information and answer my questions. Visiting Angkor Wat was a "bucket list" item for me and I am very happy that I chose this trip to help me realize my dream.
