So lovely to see the local market and experience an authentic Balinese lunch! The food was amazing - definitely opened my eyes to new possibilities with the foods I already use everyday! We were also walked through making our own offering baskets and the meaning behind them.
Had a lovely experience doing the cooking class with a mix of very nice people and tasty food and nice people
Markets and cooking class was great, really informative, lots of laughs with our group and an amazing meal that we all contributed to to share at the end. Only issue was I booked the trip as it offered a hotel pick up but were notified the night before I had to get to a central point in Ubud. Apart from that thoroughly enjoyed my morning. The quote from our class ‘the spicer the sexier’.
The cooking class and experience was amazing. The luxury and convenience of being picked up at your hotel. You get taken to the market where we met our lovely host and cooking master Eka. She was knowledgeable, gave information on ingredients and was soo fun and lighthearted while teaching cooking and got everyone involved. An amazing day and thank you Eka for making the experience amazing
Had a wonderful experience with to cooking class! My driver got lost on the way and I arrived late and the chef immediately integrated me in without feeling left out starting late. It. Was a very fun and Informative class and we even got to bring the recipes home with us. Highly reccomend to anyone Interested!
There were 11 including teens and we made and ate 9 courses in 2 hours. The instructor was excellent and the pace just right.
Never again. We booked this class with pick-up service. Driver never showed up. We stood there waiting for more than half an hour in the blistering sun. Telephone nr in e-mail was from a property company who didn’t know anything about this booking. Bali Tourist information was not helpful either. We contacted Trip Advisor then and they told us the phone nr in the e-mail was wrong. After a while they told us the driver had ‘crashed’ and that they would refund. That indeed happened very soon, thx for that. But it is downright scandalous that we were not informed or that a solution was sought. I really thought it was a scam. My day out with my daughter was ruined, without 1 word of apology or prior notification that something had gone wrong. So 100% definitely never another Trip Advisor experience for me.
An amazing experience, so educational and fun and you get to enjoy the 9 dishes you make. The class is set in a very nice open air room next to rice paddies. Multiple classes run at once but each group has its own instructor, cooking area and eating table. Go to the morning class so you can visit the local market first and learn about the ingredients. Overall tremendous value for money.
One of the best excursions I have ever had. Was fabulous
Thank you very much Gita for everything. It was a pleasure to know you, I enjoyed the conversation and the knowledge that you shared with me about your culture. It was an awesome and amazing time. 🥰🤣🤩💋
Delicious variety of foods. Very hands on experience preparing ingredients and cooking. Beautiful setting in a quiet village just outside Ubud.
The course was a nice introduction to both Balinese cuisine, as well as Balinese culture! You got an in-depth explanation for every dish and ingredient, in addition to understanding how the food traditionally is cooked and consumed
We went as a group of six people to the morning class, which also included a walk around a local market. I would recommend this as you see a snippet of the real life in Bali and all the spices, fruits etc that we use later in the cooking. The class is so well organised with a backdrop of rice fields and everyone helps to create the most delicious Balinese lunch. I cannot recommend it enough. Five stars to everyone guiding, helping and clearing up around us during the wonderful experience.
Such a wonderful cooking class in Ubud! It truly feels like a family-run business, and everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming. The open kitchen has an amazing view overlooking the rice fields, which made the whole experience more special. We were greeted with traditional tea, and the host (who speaks excellent English) explained the meaning behind the Balinese offerings before guiding us to create our own. I also really appreciated that they avoid using plastic — a small detail that says a lot. The cooking itself was taught in a very traditional way, which made it feel authentic and cultural, not touristy. Everything we made tasted incredible. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone visiting Bali!
A great experience all around. We started at the local market and learnt about the ingredients we would be cooking with then headed to the cooking class which is set between rice fields. We made 8 dishes which were all fantastic and got a recipe book to make the dishes at home. This was one of the best activities I did on my Bali trip and so affordable.
This is one of the best experiences I had in bali and is perfect for a date. The staff is incredible and they do a great job of helping you learn what your cooking.
An excellent experience from start to finish. Desa was a fantastic guide, leading us through the local market and teaching us how to cook a variety of traditional Balinese recipes. The final meal was delicious! The inclusion of transport was a great bonus. I highly recommend this for anyone wanting an authentic taste of Bali’s culinary culture.
It was very nicely done. The chef was very attentive and really showed us the techniques, not just the recipe. The information shared was very interesting. He was very good teaching my 18 year old son. The food was delicious and sharing the experience with other tourists was wonderful. Highly recommend.
Really enjoyed the personal attention and the knowledge imparted. The ingredients were so fresh and delicious. The walk through the market was a special touch. Would recommend!
amazing cooking class with delicious food. we were introduced to the common bali kitchen ingredients and cooked 5 course menu with desserts. we really enjoyed our time. totally recommended
This was a lot of fun, it was an open air kitchen, we cooked about 8 dishes and got to eat everything at the end. We cooked as a group, so you don’t necessarily eat what you cook and everyone get tasked with a job that get combined into 1 dish. It was located not too far away but because of the bad traffic it did take a while to drive there, it was very slow going.
Fabulous experience. Our guide was exceptional! The food was delicious. Learning about Balinese cuisine was a privilege.
Such a good experience and great value for money. We did the afternoon class so did not go to the markets but even without it we all had a great time and the food was so tasty! Definitely recommend
Very good and fun experience! Funny and nice chef. We also went to the market, but a very small one (I thought we would see Ubud market). The cooking was very interesting, but we didn't like most of the food (we are not used to flavour like that). Overall great experience!
This was a lovely experience for my group . Great food , lovely teacher and fun . It was a long time standing but the food was worth it
Ari was great! She led the class with ease and made cooking fun! The food was wonderful! And we made lots of authentic Balinese food! Highly recommend.
A great experience and occasion to share the table with other persons. Eating the results of our job was really precious. Funny, interesting, Amazing. As promised to the boss...8 stars!!! P.s. Fair price compared tho others offers
Great cooking class with market visit. Food was delicious and the host so lovely. 5hrs and great value for money, lots of food to eat at the end too!
The cooking class was punctual, well organised and provided good insights into Indonesian cooking including ingredients and techniques. The facilities were also excellent. We left the meeting point by minibus punctually and first visited a local market. Our tour guide led us through the market explaining what different foods were, what dishes they are used in and how to prepare them. They also used the visit as an opportunity to buy a range of breakfast items for everyone - these will vary on the day based on what’s available or in-season. We enjoyed prunes, mango and local pastries. The cookery school is on a farm 25 mins drive from the collection point. The setup is a large open plan and open sided barn with tables along the edge to dine and then two further rows of tables to prepare food or cook. It worked well and felt modern. The school provide you with a recipe booklet to take away which includes what you prepare on the day. After taking some time to enjoy breakfast we split into groups (veggie / non veggie) and started cooking. We cooked in two sessions: the first to prepare the starters; the second to prepare the main and dessert; we ate the starters before cooking the main. Each time the chef showed and described what to do and we then copied. There were 3 chefs across the whole group to guide us who were constantly on hand checking and guiding progress. The food was delicious, the recipes easy to follow and we had a great time.
Amazing experience. Hands down would recommend to anyone visiting ubud. They picked us up from our hotel, and we had a little tour of local foods markets - there was lots to learn and they explained everything. When we got to the cooking class, they showed us how to make a balinese offering and explained the meaning behind them. We then spent a couple hours learning how to make each dish before sitting down to a feast. They also provided a bottle of water per person. Fantastic experience, thank you Canting Bali
What a lovely activity. Wayan and his wife are charming, great fun and super organised. Learnt lots, great variety of food to prepare. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended. Thank you Wayan.
It was an amazing experience. Eka our guide was witty, fun and vibrant. She made the experience interesting and relatable . It was a great introduction and understanding of the Indonesian ( Balinese) cusine
Overall, my partner and I had a wonderful experience at our cooking class. Before the class began, we received a detailed explanation of Bali's culture and religion, which we both found very fascinating. The subsequent cooking class was very understandable, and great emphasis was placed on safety. Particular attention was paid to hygiene and food safety, so we didn't have to worry about getting sick and didn't get sick. The meal that followed was also delicious; for me, the best meal after two weeks in Bali. Finally, we received a list of recipes and ingredients so we can recreate the dishes at home in Germany. Many greetings to the teacher from Alex and Lina.
I have just returned from this cooking class. I really enjoyed it. Going solo meant I met new fun people, the food was great. The atmosphere was really nice. Recommend doing the market tour aswell.
A wonderful afternoon with lots of cultural background on Bali lifestyle. Food was wonderful though a little spicy if you only tolerate bland foods. The open air facility is a 30 minute drive from the Ubud Art Market up in the ridges with a cool breeze.
this was such an amazing experience, the host was incredible and taught us so much about the balinese culture, we cooked so many delicious different plates and got to enjoy them all at the end! It’s a family business and it shows because everyone was so very welcoming. we loved our experience and highly recommend it if you want to experience real home cooked balinese food!
Great cooking class to learn the traditional methods of Balinese cooking. Everyone was very friendly. Made various dishes and open to vegetarian etc if you wish. Not too far from central Ubud only 20mins in a car. Would recommend to anyone in the area.
Do not book this class. It is a middleman who will not contact you about your pick up until you hassle them via viator. They only confirmed my class at 8pm the night before with no communication before I messaged them. The class itself is Canting Cooking Class which was ok. It is better to book direct so that you get clear communication and you support locals. I liked the market visit and our host was lovely but the cooking was split between all participants. You also don't get your own dish, the food is prepared mostly by staff and you eat buffet style afterwards. Ultimately we didn't have 5 hrs to do the other longer classes so opted for this one.
The class was so good! The teachers were amazing and the food we made was delicious, and it was in such a pretty setting. Thank you so much!
The food was amazing & the team were so nice! It was my first solo activity so was a little nervous but the layout & group cooking got everyone chatting which was exactly what I had hoped. I really enjoyed the whole experience & cant wait to recreate the recipes at home!
Well-organized, highly informative, fun and thoughtful experience. We enjoyed our class and gained so much within a reasonable time-frame. Because we were part of a small group of 8 people, it felt we were really able to learn and enjoy cooking that is bespoke to us. The host, Eri, is warm and friendly and made sure to answer any questions and shared so many interesting information about Balinise life and cuisine. One of the highlights of our visit to Ubud. Thank you!
Everything I thought it would be and more!! The class takes place in the host house, and she starts by deep diving into Balinese architecture. Then the cooking class is really interactive and instructive, I left feeling very relaxed and pleased. The host really made that class so fun and we even cooked 10 meals, all of which were amazing!! A must try if you are in Bali, do not MISS OUT!
Such lovely food! Had an amazing time cooking and eating all the dishes. The staff were nice & informative too! Would definitely recommend! X
Lovely and delicious! I take a cooking class everywhere I travel and this was class was great. I love a market visit with a local. Clear instruction, kindly disposition and the local dishes I’ve been craving, thank you!
WOW. Loved every minute, every flavour, there was so much great information about Balinese people & life. Eri is a special host, Thankyou we will come again 🙏🏻
No one picked me up, couldn't get ahold of tour operator, got a message an hour later saying they weren't running the class. I get it, things happen in a small business but at least let your customers know in advance.
It was very well planned out. We enjoyed cooking and learning and meeting the other people in the class The market visit was very cool to see all the produce and learn about the ingredients we were using for the class
Fun, excellent service, welcoming, respectful, created an offering, cookbook provided, free pickup, good food, lovely venue
Excellent! Very fun cooking class and very informative and delicious. Was also taught about the traditional buildings and customs which was very interesting and we were grateful that they went into such detail
