Great way to escape the hustle of Ubud and experience a hands on workshop learning Kaliki art. The attention to detail by our master artist Dan was something we will treasure as one of the best from many visits to Bali. From the initial sketch thru to the painting in water color, we were treated with respect and shown dilligently how to prepare and finish our unique piece of artwork. The small class of 3 made the experience very personal. Fantastic way to learn from a traditional artist. Thankyou.

A fantastic afternoon creating our own traditional Keliki Art with wonderful teacher, great experience and looking forward to practicing more of this beautiful art at home. A staff were amazing, super friendly and very talented. Location and studio was beautiful traditional setting. Some beautiful art in studio, lesson was completely guided and anyone can do, it was wonderful! Highly recommend to all ages and no experience needed. So much fun, the teacher was very patient and we made some nice paintings. There are lots of styles to choose from and they offer other art classes also.

If your willing to take the time this is an amazing way to get a lovely piece of art that you created in a calm space. My instructor talked me through the whole process and it was a great way to get absorbed in the process

Nyoman was a wonderful teacher and worked with us patiently so that we left with works we were really happy with. He is a very skilled artist and was able to guide us through the steps, help when we were stuck, and make the final product look amazing. The experience improved my understanding and sense of appreciation for the Indonesian art I'd seen earlier in my trip at Neka and ARMA.

Well organised, supportive teachers, clean, and most importantly we learned a new skill, we learned the art of Keliki painting thats prevalent in Bali. Our teachers Pak Nyoman and Pak Wayan are amazing. They are so dedicated to ensuring we get the best learning outcomes. They patiently guided us through the process and taught us key elements of this style of painting. They were very thorough and thoughtful.

attended this workshop last month when i revisited ubud. though not a beginner, still find it not easier.have to practice more. this time i drew a pic of rice fields, a common theme of keliki painting. with the help of the painter,after few hours, i finished my work. might not a high quality work,but still happy cuz finally finished it successfully. i really love keliki style,hope one day i can manage the skills,and create my own painting.

It was a great experience learning how to paint Keliki style at Five Arts Studio just out of Ubud village. The staff were very helpful and provided drinks and local snacks as well. Well worth doing if you like art, whether you have done art or not.

I'm so glad I decided to try this out! It was really fun learning about Indonesian art styles and making my small painting. The venue was peaceful, and the instructor was very friendly and patient. I would love to try their other classes. Plus, the painting is something special I can bring back to remember my time here.

Wayan was lovely and I had the class to myself. I learnt new skills and was surprised with how good the results were! It was relaxing and a beautiful place to spend half a day away from the business of town. Highly recommend 👍👍👍

I had the loveliest morning at Five Arts Studio. I had been admiring Balinese styles of painting since arriving in Ubud. I love their detail and colours. With the help of Nymal, I got to create one! He patiently helped me carefully layer with colour and outline to create dimension. A small group of participants were also creating batik. There were 2 young children amongst the group. I enjoyed watching their joy as the owner & his wife provided personal attention and assistance. There was a lot of laughter from their corner of the big breezy outdoor studio,

A great experience. The tuition was clear and friendly. The place lovely and the drive there on the scooter is also very scenic. We understood the technique and left after 3 hours with a finished painting.

If you have the opportunity to do this do it. I highly recommend it, a most enjoyable 3 hrs that I would happily do again in a heartbeat. Wayan is incredibly patient, he is an amazing teacher and I learnt a great deal.

Fun activity and the time flew by very fast. Made a great Bali souvenir to take home. More information about the history of the art and personal learning of the craft would have added to the experience.

Learning from Gusti and Kedek. The are personable and fun. We enjoyed creating our little miniatures.

The organisers were very welcoming, friendly and experienced in their art. During the 3 hours, I could make a beautiful piece of work while enjoying the beautiful natural and calm surroundings and having nice conversations about local Balinese art and culture. Totally recommend for as a calming and authentic experience that expands your mind and soul :)

Good time for painting mini acrylic nature landscape, and learned this lesson how use acrylic color. Painting not very easy)

This was such a relaxing family activity. The upstairs balcony has a beautiful view over rice fields and traditional house roofs. The two gentlemen who helped us with our art were very knowledgeable and helped us in choosing a piece appropriate to our expertise. We then spent the time going through the stages of creating the artwork with expert help at every stage. It was very satisfying and we ended up with some beautiful art at the end of it. Totally recommend it!

Great learning experience! My hubby and I had fun and enjoyed learning from the instructors. Really good introduction to the Kaliki style of Balinese painting. The transport add-on was also convenient and our driver also took us to a nice lunch place on the way back. We also get to take home our artwork as a souvenir back home. Highly recommended!

I had a great time painting a picture of barong! I learned a lot and enjoyed chatting with Gusti about our lives in our respective countries I’ve never taken an art class, nor am I “an artist”, but thought it would be a fun activity to do solo while in the Ubud area, which, it was! Gusti helped me throughout the process enduring the final result looked good! Felt exceptionally safe as a solo female traveler and would be interested in trying the batik class next time Definitely book as you also get to keep the artwork you make as well!

I have never painted before and the teachers were very friendly and helped me create a painting I was happy with! I would go back again because there are so many kinds of art happening at the studio. Also beautiful view.

We arrived at the studio with family and friends and received a very warm welcome from Wayan, who I now call a friend! The studio is great! We learned a lot and got to have a lot of fun doing so. Wayan taught us about painting techniques and we could also see how talented an artist he is. The studio is also in a very beautiful location where you really get a feel for life in rural Bali. I cannot say enough good things about this studio! Highly recommended! I had done a lot of excursions during my trip and this was by far one of the best and most authentic. I was also able to make a nice painting purchase from Wayan. Thanks Wayan for such a great and memorable trip to your studio. I posted photos of this beautiful place.

I booked and attended the painting class within a day. The arrangements and communication could not have been easier and this was followed by a brilliant afternoon with beautiful patient and caring people. Being a novice I was helped A LOT and enjoyed every minute.

Had a fantastic time today doing this class. Hotel pick up- great. Class was amazing and teachers were very patient with me while I learned about the art style. I created my piece alongside some local artists who were keen to chat while we pained the hours away. The view from the studio was lovely and the sounds of Balinese life while we painted were very peaceful. The teacher helped me learn how to compose my picture and then showed me each technique, giving suggestions as I went. I’m an absolute beginner painter and could not recommend this experience enough. I would definitely do it again and would be Keen to try one of the other techniques. Thank you for a great day!

I went for the workshop which was supposed to be a 3 hours session, but I ended up spending another 3 hours talking with the brilliant teacher Wayan pujana about life, local culture, music, arts, everything...Not only is he good at teaching how to paint, but also he's ready to introduce the entire Balinese culture to you if you're interested. Thanks for this unique and excellent experience!!

I was looking for something fun and alternative to do with my Mum while we were in Ubud. As she is 78, most activities like yoga and rice fields were not appropriate, but the painting at five arts was absolutely perfect! We spent a great afternoon there and while neither of us had painted in MANY MANY years, and our works of art were definitely NOT masterpieces, we had so much fun bonding with each other and the balinese teacher and his friend. A wonderful way to support the local community as well. The Akasha restaurant at New Earth Heaven is only a few minutes away and an excellent spot for lunch beforehand.

We did the half day traditional painting session. As someone with very limited artistic talent or skills I thought it would be rather challenging. Instead I found the approach and teaching super relaxed and encouraging- even did a painting I’m keen to put on the wall back home. The young guys who lead the session were super helpful and willing to help.

I loved every minute of my art lesson here. I was picked up by one of the artists himself and driven to the studio, which is in their village compound. So you get to see traditional village life and their art. I was taken through every step of my lesson by my teacher, who was super patient and very talented. I came away with a beau painting that I will treasure for ever. I learnt a new style of painting.

Purchased this class for my wife, who already had some experience with different painting techniques. She was very happy. Highly recommended.

I went to my first Keliki painting class today and I definitely recommend it to everyone that is interested in painting and drawing and learning new unique things. The teacher was super friendly and patient and the technique which is unique for the village, is super fascinating. I definitely learned a lot at this place and I hope that the guys there will have many more possibilities to share their passion and traditions of creating with as many people as possible. I brought my 10 yr old and 21 yr old kids here. Our whole family was educated about Balinese art. It is such an intricate piece of art that one needs to be patient to do something beautiful. The teacher said that the act of painting is meditation in itself. Allot 3 hrs. Very entertaining. Wayan, the teacher was very patient and kind.

We had a nice time with Five and it was good for me to remember things I had done before but I forgot them. Painted with pleasure. Thanks.

We had such a lovely time doing batik with the guys that run five art studio. Really lovely home location with and on sight restaurant. Given water and snacks on arrival, We were picked up and dropped back to our Hotel. All in all it was a lovely way to spend a hot afternoon perfect for all ages and you get you art to take home with you!!

The whole experience was wonderful, we were collected by car and taken to the art shop, everything was clearly explained and we were guided through. I’m not particularly artistic but found it incredibly relaxing and great value for money. At the end you are given your creation to take home and enjoy

I went to the Keliki painting class not really knowing what was involved. My teacher Wayan Pujana showed me all the steps and helped me where I struggled with some of the techniques! The teachers were lovely and the style of art is something you could repeat at home and continue to work on. I had a really great time, loved learning the new painting and drawing technique and would highly recommend this class to others!

What a wonderful way to immerse yourself into Balinese culture and the "Keliki" style. Wayan was an attentive instructor, happy and excited to share his knowledge and make this a fantastic experience from beginning to end. I learnt a lot, expanded my creative knowledge and I will definitely visit Five Art Studio again for a longer time next time. Highly recommend.

This was my second time at Five Art Studio. I came back because the staff are incredibly skilled + talented artists who really help you achieve what you're trying to create. I had the long, monumental ask of making TWO batik paintings today, and Wayan was there every step of the way to help me. Nyoman also helped me with the wax too, they can sense when you need help so they come to the rescue! It took me 8 hours to complete my paintings and Wayan was so gracious and patient with how long I take when it comes to art. I love this studio and it has been a joy and highlight of my stay to have spent time here. The studio itself is in a traditional Balinese home with animals and rice fields. The food was delicious and the juice as well! I can't wait to come back here. As Wayan said, "This place is your home" and I felt very at home there! If you really want an authentic experience with locals and good company surrounded by beauty, take a class at 5 art studio!
