The Ulun Danu Beratan Temple is both a famous picturesque landmark and a significant temple complex located on the western side of the Beratan Lake in Bedugul, central Bali. The whole Bedugul area is actually a favorite cool upland weekend and holiday retreat for locals and island visitors alike from the southern and urban areas, as it is strategically located, connecting the island’s north and south.
Lake Buyan and Lake Tamblingan, separated by a rainforest-covered hill, approximately one kilometers, there is a pool that is connected directly to the lake Buyan through a narrow canal. The community pool is called Telaga Aya. The two lakes are known as the Twin Lakes. This sight is a great overview of the volcanic heart of Bali. Volcanoes have created and shaped this island, creating volcanic cones and lakes, and producing rich soils enabling a lush forest to grow.
Banyumala Waterfall is one of the lesser known waterfalls in Bali. It is located north of Lake Buyan in northcentral Bali. Unlike many trails this is a completely natural trail and rarely hiked trail. Just past the waterfall is a water curtain of various trickles of water down a wall of lush rocks.
Jatiluwih rice terraces pretty much cover the region of the namesake upland village in West Bali, most famous for its landscapes that are both dramatic and truly exotic. The site is one of the island’s must-see natural panoramas on par with Mount Batur and the caldera of Kintamani. The cool highlands and the breathtaking scenery of this village at the foot of Mount Batukaru makes for wonderful photo opportunities, and serves as a soothing retreat away from the island’s crowded south.
Taman Ayun Temple is a landmark in the village of Mengwi, Badung regency, located 17km northwest of Denpasar. This temple complex boasts magnificent traditional architectural features throughout its courtyards and enclosures as well as expansive garden landscapes comprised of lotus and fish ponds.
Gede was the perfect tour guide for our experience. He was knowledgeable about the temples, helpful with finding us a place to eat lunch, and was flexible when we needed to be dropped off at our subsequent villa to check in. The main reason I did this trip was to see the Jatiluwih rice terraces, but it ended up being so much more than that. Putu was my guide and her father Made was the driver, and we had a full day of activity that included a couple of beautiful waterfalls (Banyumala) as well as a temple surrounded by a beautiful moat (Taman Ayun Temple). The surprise was visiting a temple by a lake that I had seen on postcards and tourist advertisements (Ulun Danu Bratan), and we happened to get there at the time of a village festival procession culminating with a "walking gamelan" performance and some dances. Both father and daughter were conscientious and professional, and both were fluent in English. I had a great day with them. (Oh, the rice terraces were beautiful.)

I highly recommend booking Dewa as your driver and tour guide when visiting Bali! He is a safe driver, speaks great English, and was kind enough to answer my millions of questions about the culture and history of Bali :) A friend and I hired Dewa to go see the UNESCO rice terraces where he guided us through the fields which were absolutely beautiful. Dewa also had plenty of suggestions for other sites to see to fill our day. My friend flew home before me, so I hired Dewa for an additional day to visit a temple, do a waterfall hike, and a bit of shopping in different villages. As a solo female, I felt completely comfortable and safe with Dewa. I will definitely book with Dewa again when I’m in Bali!

We booked Dewa for three days for a private tour. We communicated from California months ahead of time. He helped us decide on a tentative itinerary. After the first day we just said take us where ever you think we would like. He met us on time at our hotel and showed us both the tourist side of Bali plus the local culture. We even attended his neice’s balineese wedding. Dewa is an excellent driver and everyday he had cold drinks for us. He has a nice car and it was spotless (except when we tracked in dirt). Both my wife and I could not give Dewa a high enough recommendation. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. His English is excellent. If you want to see Bali (any of it), Dewa is your man.
My family enjoyed the most perfect day exploring Bali with Dewa. We had some questions leading up to our holiday which were answered quickly and very helpfully and this ensured we could plan our day to fit everything we wanted to see in. Dewa has a very comfortable and air conditioned vehicle and my plus 6ft husband with various injuries was very comfortable all day! Bali is beautiful, but it is even more beautiful when Dewa is showing you around! We saw and did things we would never have known about if it weren’t for him. It was by far our favourite day of our holiday and we are already planning our trip for next year around more tours with Dewa. In addition to being a very experienced and careful driver, he is a true gentleman and taught us so much about Balinese culture. My daughter learnt so much that day and loved every minute. We were a family of 3 (including a toddler) and you can imagine what that would have been like 🤣!!! Meeting Dewa was the best decision we made as he made the whole tour flexible, smooth and safe. Impressed by the first day tour we booked him for a second day as well ( luckily he was available ) He understood the requirements of us and gave us the best options to try out in Ubud. The weather was not great but he made sure we enjoyed the tours to a maximum. He knows the area , local gems , short cuts to make your trip easier. He is very kind and friendly. He was also our photographer as well. Time with Dewa was easy and full of laughs.. highly recommended!!! You need Dewa if you’re in Bali .. much love from Australia!!

If you ever have the Chance to experience a Tour with Dewa dont hesitate to do it! He is honestly the best Guide you could wish for - authentic, humble, funny and so spontaneous. We were in rainy season in Bali and spent a whole day with him and it was the best Tour in our entire stay. He knows so much about the culture and balinese life and he speaks perfectly english and we could freely decide which stops we want to see. Where do I begin- I found Dewa on viator (book via his website instead) and was nervous since I was traveling as a solo female traveler. Needless to say Dewa was not only a great and safe driver who speaks fluent English, but also became my friend, therapist, photographer, and temporary father figure during my 10 days in Ubud. I even cancelled my other tour to Sidemen to book with him instead! Highly recommend going with Dewa for your next trip :)
Dewa is AMAZING!. My wife and I spent 4 full days touring Bali with him during our 11 day stay in this beautiful place. His English is excellent and his driving is even better. These are only topped by his knowledge of the island and culture, which he dispenses like a novelist while you go from adventure to adventure. The first 4 days we stayed at the Westin in Ubud. He picked us up early on 3 of those days and sometimes we didn't get back until 8 or 9 PM after visiting Rice Patties, Waterfalls, Temples, Vistas and more. After going to Nusa Penida, he picked us up for another day that included Money Forest. He gets to know you and customizes your experience. On top of all of that, Dewa is ridiculously affordable. Booking a day or more and transport to and from the airport etc. is a total no brainer. He completely made our trip!!
Dewa was great! We booked him for several days. He was referred to us by my brother. He did airport pick up, drove us to check out local eats, took us to awesome sightseeing, rice paddy field, ubud, just a bunch of places! We had a awesome time. Would highly recommend him and I do to all my friends and family heading to Bali. Dewa even helped carry my niece when she was too tired and helped my dad when he was struggling with the stairs. He’s super knowledgeable and would give us insights about local things to do. I was on a hunt for durian and he obliged. Super hospitable too! Highly recommend him as a driver and tour guide!

It felt like a gentle old man and there was no bottled chicken. On our way back, we wanted to see the sunset at Tanah Lot Temple, and the old man was very flexible and dropped us off there and said goodbye. Communication was in English only, but I managed to get by. WhatsApp allows you to communicate with your old man in advance. Have a nice trip, everyone. ps. It was fantastic!! Dewa is incredibly personable, nice and experienced. Communication is super easy via WhatsApp and you can spontaneously change your tour at any time if there is something you would rather see. He also gives you tips for places that are not so touristy. We were able to attend a ceremony in a great temple with him and visit numerous other great places, especially the Jatiluwih rice terraces (awesome!!). He not only took great photos, but also taught us about the culture and gave us insights into Balinese life. Simply great! The following day we combined a second day tour with him with our hotel transport and so we were able to explore other places. That's a positive way to use the driving time. Dewa Alit showed us (a group of 10) all the beautiful sides of Bali for two weeks. He is very committed and concerned; he will objectively give you the possibilities but in the end you decide completely for yourself and no tourist trap is ever imposed! One code word: “trust”. Dewa did not shy away from a question, always gave his honest opinion but never wants to impose it. He has become a Balinese friend to us all!!
