Mount Batur Sunrise Trekking

My friend and I loved this sunrise trek up Mount Batur! Our driver, Vixo, was so friendly and helpful and did a great job getting us around and coordinating everything. Our guide up Batur, Nano, was the best! He set a great pace and checked in with us to make sure the pace was good. He was also so friendly and great to chat with (and he took some incredible photos of us at the summit!). We really enjoyed the summit breakfast, especially the steam-cooked egg and banana sandwich. The hike itself was harder than we’d expected, but worth it for the incredible sunset view. We did the hot springs afterwards, which was the perfect treat. We are so glad we did this hike and are very grateful to Nano and Vixo for making our experience so wonderful. It was a real highlight of our trip to Bali!

We did the Mount Batur hike with Nano (Vixo was our driver) and can’t say enough good things. Nano was excellent at pacing us up the mountain and fun to chat with. Breakfast was delightful (an egg cooked in the volcanic steam!) and we really lucked in to a beautiful morning and lovely weather. Can’t recommend this trek more strongly! It is a bit challenging at times with some steep/rocky spots, but nothing too tricky. Absolutely worth the early wakeup for the most beautiful sunrise on earth!

Unreal experience! The hike itself was incredible, but what made it the most special was our guide Nano!! He honestly made the whole experience and atmosphere 100x better and made the trip! So worth it!

Fantastic experience with Bali Sunrise Trekking & Tours. Everything was excellent, from hotel pickup to preparation for the climb up Mount Batur. Our guide for the climb was Riki, an exceptional person. He gave us so much interesting information about the volcano and was an excellent guide. I highly recommend taking this tour with them. Once you reach the top, the views will be unforgettable.

Nano our guide was amazing! Catered to all levels of fitness. Unfortunately was overcast at the top but we had the most amazing time anyway. As we descended had the most amazing views or the volcano and surroundings. Nano made everything fun and lighthearted, very grateful to him

We went hiking with Nano, and he was such a kind, patient, and helpful person. He was also a great photographer! We laughed a lot and had a really good time. I was very happy to have him as our guide. He is exactly the kind of guide you want to have!

We had a very good mini adventure (hybrid tour) with this operator. I think some people go with the wrong expectations, without being aware where they are and what they do and then get disappointed. All jeeps are pretty much the same by all operators, they are rugged and they need to be to go up the mountain. Also nobody can guarantee good weather for a beautiful sunrise. We were picked up at 02:45 from our hotel in Ubud and took us around an hour to get to the point where the Jeep was waiting. After some driving which wasn’t too long we got to one of the highest points you can go by car and started the hike. Our hiking guide, Kace, was excellent with a great attitude and mood. He took us through a path through which we encountered almost zero other hikers until the last few meters to the top which was great considering how many people go up for the sunrise. It was harder than we expected but a good exercise. At the top we showed us one of the best spots to sit and we had our coffee and food. Our jeep driver, Komang, was also great and took us after to the black lava fields also in a good spot and helped us take some nice photos. It is definitely a place worth seeing and visiting. All in all a very good experience.

I booked a solo private tour with Bali Sunrise Trekking and Tours for the Mt. Batur sunrise hike, and it completely exceeded my expectations! The Driver: He was extremely punctual for the early morning pickup. Even though it wasn’t originally on the itinerary, he was happy to accommodate my request to stop by Akasa Specialty Coffee for an hour on the drive back so I could enjoy the view and relax. The Trekking Guide: My guide was phenomenal. Since it was a private tour, he gave me his full, undivided attention and adjusted the hiking pace perfectly to my fitness level. We made it to the summit in about an hour and completed the descent in just 30 minutes! This gave us a full 2.5 hours at the top to watch the sunrise and explore the crater at a comfortable pace. On top of that, he was super proactive in helping me take tons of great photos throughout the trip—a massive bonus for a solo traveler! Everything felt smooth, safe, and personalized from start to finish. Highly recommended!

The trek upto MT Batur is not for beginners or average fir people .Its quite hard if you not in good physical condition.However once up the sunrise is definitely worth it.Dress warm as it gets pretty cold on the mountain before sunrise.

Mount batur was an unforgettable experience. The tour guides were knowledgable and great at keeping the morale up. The view of the sunrise was amazing and it was a once in a lifetime experience. I would highly recommend this tour to everyone who comes to Bali, the climb is definitely worth it! We had Putu as our driver. He was very kind, attentive and most importantly reliable and on time. If you need a reliable, friendly and attentive driver then Putu is a great option.

Efficient pickup from the hotel. Hike is moderate in intensity on some steep, crumbly terrain so some level of fitness is recommended. Guide will provide the headlamp, water and breakfast so just bring your hiking shoes and hiking layers. View on top is great. Def a recommended Bali activity! We tacked on a half day of additional sight seeing on our way back from the volcano with our highly experienced and friendly driver, Made.

We had a wonderful experience climbing Mount Batur with this agency! It was just the two of us, and we arrived before the other groups, so we had a great spot to watch the sunrise. The driver and guide were very professional and kind—I highly recommend them!

We were a group of 7 and had a really great hike! Would definitely recommend to book with Bali Sunrise :) We stayed in two different places in Ubud and it was really easy to arrange the pick up from both places. The driver was on time and brought us safely to a nice cafe to get the including coffee/tea and to start the trek afterwards. We were hiking with Wayan and Nano who adapted well to our fitness level and made sure everyone was doing okay during the hike which was definitely harder than expected. They also shared their knowledge about Mt Batur, the flora and fauna as well as Indonesian culture and were really friendly and funny. Thanks for this amazing experience!

We enjoyed the trek - the company were brilliant - arrived timely, friendly driver with good English, lovely calm guide who gave us time when we needed it for breaks and calculated the correct time to arrive for sunrise based on our ability. Very helpful tour organiser on WhatsApp with good communication. Enjoyed doing this off season as fewer people on trek. No view of lake due to cloud but a wonderful view of the other volcano peak poking through the clouds was well worth it. We were lucky with the weather but wouldn’t like to do it in the rain. The price for a private guide was very fair and enabled us to go at our own pace. Thank you!

We were picked up by our driver Yoyo who was nice and friendly. We were then taken to the bottom of Mount Batur (about 2 hours drive from Sanur) where we met another couple and the guide. We started our ascent and the guide will stop occasionally if you need a rest. He is honest with how far you have to go and the elevation still left. If you are struggling, there are people on scramble bikes which will get you 90% of the way at an additiional charge. Once at the top you have your own bench to sit on whilst your guide arranges breakfast (banana sandwiches, hard boiled eggs and a chocolate bar), whilst you get comfortable and await the sun. As the sun rises, you can take your own photos/videos or the guide will assist. After about 30-40 minutes, you will start your descent which can be challenging at times due to the gradient and loose rocks. If you're struggling I would suggest speaking to your guide as it might be possible to take an easier less challenging path, dependent on your pick up point. A lovely experience and definitely worth the early get up.

Everything I expected and wanted Wayan was class. The route was very easy, Wayan ensured I had a good spot for the sunrise and I have nothing bad to say.

A driver picked us up at our hotel and took us to Mount Batur. We left at 2:00 a.m. After climbing for 1 hour and 20 minutes, we reached the summit and enjoyed an incredible view of the sunrise. Thank you to our guide Wayan for this excursion!

Couldn’t recommend enough. Our guide I Wayan ardip made our experience amazing. My partner wasn’t particularly confident with the hike but he made everything perfect. We got very lucky with the sun for sunrise , the views and the experience were unbelievable. We then finished off at the hot springs. 10/10

Impeccable experience for our hike to Mt Batur, with a beautiful sunrise at the top. We highly recommend this tour operator as everything ran smoothly (starting from the hotel pick-up in Ubud and the ride with an amazing driver) and our guide, Nano, was simply the best!

Awesome tour! I didn’t realize how difficult this Mount Batur Sunrise Trekking tour would be for me. I’m a 60+ year old woman in good condition, but I almost gave up twice. Thankfully, with the encouragement of my two friends and Wayan our tour guide who held my hand, I kept on trekking to the summit. The breathtaking sunrise views were so beautiful and worth it!

We were very lucky and saw a beautiful sunrise. We already knew there were going to be many people, so we didnt mind. But everyone should take into account, if they are okay with that. Otherwise our guide was great and took us the long way around the crater after the sunrise (we asked for it), where we were basically alone. Dont forget to pack a lot of clothes since it gets really cold up there, especially if you are a faster hiker. The breakfast way nice and appreciated but you have to buy drinks(tea) separately.

The views from the summit were breathtaking. Wayan was an exceptional guide, and made the experience even more special. Highly recommend!

Our guide was so friendly and thoughtful, always keeping our safety in mind and setting a pace that was just right. At the summit, he nailed the timing for sunrise perfectly—no long, freezing wait—and took us to all the best photo spots. They even had tons of cool tricks for taking amazing shots. Such an awesome experience from start to finish!

An amazing experience with such an amiable guide and the best taxi driver. Breakfast was absolutely top-notch! On the way down, we had a great discussion about nature and agriculture. Unfortunately, the experience was somewhat spoiled by motorbikes and cars driving up the path, leaving behind exhaust fumes. It would be so much better if everyone made the effort to walk up on their own!

The hike was hard but enjoyable and the views as you climb got better and better. Once at the top the views were breathtaking. Well worth the effort. Would highly recommend it.

We got a pick-up at our hotel outside of Ubud in the middle of the night to get to the botom of Mount Batur. Allthough we were sleepy, the driver was friendly and made sure we were well prepared for the climb. If needed he offered to make a stop. We were offered a tea because we were early at the starting village. Once at the beginning of the trail a guide took over and guided us to the top. It can be steep, it can be slippery due to the surface, but we had plenty of time to get up and the guide assured us to go easy and rest if needed. Once at the top we got our meal with an amazing view and continued on. We had some amazing photo-moments and our guide took us to some breath-taking viewspots. Plenty of pictures and filming later we were greeted by the local monkeys. Be aware there are a lot of tourists climbing the mountain. At the top there are 400-500 people. The way down we took an easier, but more crowded route. On the way back our driver gave us some extra information about certain things which was nice. In short, an amazing experience made even better by these amazing people.

Had an amazing experience from start to finish. Ngurah (the driver) was on time and so kind and explained everything to us. We stopped at a nearby cafe for a coffee and toilet break before beginning the trek. Our guide for the trek, Guru Risky, was amazing too and was so patient and knowledgeable. Would 100% recommend! The climb took us about two hours and the view at the top was definitely worth the effort. The descent was quite hard on the knees and took about one and half hours. I really enjoyed the experience in itself but was appalled by the lack of professionalism from the operator. The starting point was very dirty, not clearly organized and the overall experience lacking professionalism with very little information throughout. The hot spring experience was messy, not the cleanest neither. The driver has been amazing throughout the day, very kind and professional. Overall it was worth the money so I would recommend another operator.
