Mount Batur Sunrise Trekking Tour

I had a wonderful experience hiking Mount Batur. It was an early start, but everything was worth it once I reached the top. The climb was a little challenging, especially on the steep and rocky paths, but our guide was very friendly and patient, always making sure I was doing okay. The sunrise was absolutely beautiful, with amazing views of the mountains, lake, and surrounding clouds. Sitting at the top and enjoying breakfast while watching the scenery was such a special moment. I also really appreciated how helpful the guide was with taking photos and making sure I got to enjoy the best viewpoints. Everything was well organized, and I felt comfortable throughout the experience, even as a solo traveler. I would definitely recommend this trek to anyone visiting Bali. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my trip!

What an experience! Never expected we would make it. Strongly recommend our guide Gunawan. He is very professional and passionate, and we can’t reach the peak without him. For people who never hikes before, this so called easiest mountain is still tough to climb. Fortunately our guide helped us at every risky place. The breakfast at the peak was also wonderful.

We had an amazing experience hiking Mount Batur with our guide, Gunawan. He was very friendly, helpful and made us feel safe and comfortable throughout the entire hike. He kept a good pace, gave us enough time for breaks and was always attentive along the way. Reaching the summit and watching the sunrise was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Bali. Gunawan made the experience even better with his positive attitude and his support during the hike. We can absolutely recommend this tour and especially Gunawan as a guide. Thank you for an unforgettable morning!

Beautiful experience and a not so tough walk. Recommend it for everyone. I especially recommend asking for Komang as a driver. He was an amazing and fun guy.

My wife and I, along with our 15 and 12-year-olds, booked the trek. The communication was excellent and our driver Putu was incredibly informative and patient with all our questions. He even went out of his way to find durian and coconut water for us. Our trek guide Kerr ker Tana was equally great. He worked at our pace and helped my wife and one of my kids throughout the journey. Some of the terrain was challenging but he safely guided us through those tricky areas. I highly recommend these two gentlemen for anyone considering this trek.

Be wary who you book with regarding this tour. The operator didn’t pick us up after waiting an hour and half from 1:30am in the morning. No communication off anyone, off the driver, off the operator of the tour and off Viator. Terrible service, and my birthday and trip to Bali ruined.

We had a private guide for my friend and I and we loved the experience. We hiked the whole way, it required moderate physical fitness and was slightly challenging in some points mainly because it was pitch black! Our guide G was lovely, very patient with us and so knowledgeable (and proud) of his local area. We enjoyed learning about the history of the volcano and surrounding areas. We were lunch enough to get a mainly clear morning so a good view of sunrise! Breakfast included was very substantial, much more than the two of us could eat. G was also a great photographer and took sone fabulous photographs.

Big thanks to my guide Gun, he was the best :)! He was really looking out for me, I always felt safe even if I wasn’t wearing the best shoes for hiking 😊 and he adapted the walking speed to my level. On the peak I was rewarded with a hot chocolate which was just so good! Unfortunately it was cloudy for the sunrise, but then the clouds went away and the view on the lake and the vulcano area was just amazing! I can totally recommend this trip!

We had an amazing trip with our guide Gunawan on Mt. Batur. The hike is beautiful and not too hard.😊 A once in a lifetime experience to see the sunrise from a volcano, a must do! They also make a great breakfast and amazing pictures to memorate the experience. Thank you again Gunawan, for being the best guide we've ever had on a hike😊!

We had a FANTASTIC time with our guide Jro Gunawan!! He went at our pace, helped us over tough sections of the trail, and took a ton of amazing photos for this trip, which we did on our honeymoon. 10/10 this is an awesome experience- best guide ever with 22 years experience!!!!

I was lucky to meet a local guide named Gunawan. He is older, warm-hearted, and very experienced. Always approachable, he shared stories and exchanged conversations with me along the trek to the summit of Mount Batur. Beyond the new things I learned from him, he is also humorous and fun-loving. The trek felt much less tiring with him around. He prepared a thoughtful breakfast, arranged a perfect spot to sit, took photos, and guided me on how to pose in the most beautiful way with the scenery. If you choose this tour, I recommend asking the admin to have him as your guide—your journey to the summit will be so much more enjoyable. As for Mount Batur itself, it was even more amazing than I had imagined. It was cold before the sun rose, but as the sun and dawn slowly emerged, the layers of red light intertwined with other colors, highlighting the majestic beauty of the view. From the summit, you can see Mount Abang and Mount Agung. Savoring the grandeur of nature, sipping a cup of hot chocolate, and enjoying breakfast as the sun rises is an unmissable experience when visiting Bali.

We booked this tour after checking reviews and found it was amazing! Ketut our guide assisted us greatly in reaching the sunrise spot, provided a great breakfast and then took us to the best vantage points for photos!! He was also an excellent photographer giving us some images and video that we will cherish forever. This was an amazing morning!!!!

We had a great guide called Gunawan. A very smart person who brought us up very safely. AND he is a fantastic photographer. Thanks Gunawan. It was a pleasure.

The whole experience was amazing! We got picked up on time by a very friendly driver, we then got coffee and tea before starting our hike by our guide. Our guides name was Gunawan and he was amazing. During the hike he was friendly, funny, tailored the hike to our level and needs, and was very caring. Then when we got to the top of the mountain he made breakfast for us, showed us around, explained what everything was, took lots of pictures of us. The whole day was filled with laughter and there wasn’t a single boring moment. After the hike we went to a coffee plantation where we got to see the roasting process of coffee beans, and tasted many good coffees and teas. Would recommend this experience and especially going with Gunawan, it would not have been the same without him!

Amazing hike up Mount Batur for sunrise. Our guide Putu was really great at pointing things out along the way to tell us about the other mountain peaks / volcanoes and history of eruptions. He was always making sure we felt good on our hike and had everything we needed and took great photos for us. The breakfast at the top was simple but very tasty. I especially wanted to thank him for helping my wife back down when it was very slippy. He held her hand and reassured her every step. We would highly recommend him and the experience.

Very well organised, from the pick-up to the breakfast at the top. Very friendly, kind and knowledgeable driver (Dekwan) and guide (Riki). Was an amazing but challenging hike for a stunning sunrise over the surroundings (Mount Aging, Lake Batur and Mount Rijiani / Lombok in the back). Too bad some lazy tourists take a lift almost to the top with loud and stinky jeeps and motorcycles!

This is an experience of a lifetime for me, the highlight of my entire trip! The guide Gunawan is experienced, friendly, knowledgeable and I felt so safe with him guiding and helping me reach the summit. Not to mention an amazing photographer! The driver Ady is communicative, friendly, punctual, skilled and armed with great local hotsprings tips. Thank you Gunawan and Ady for the amazing experience!

A nice early morning hike with excellent views well worth doing. Our guide Mr Gunawan was excellent he was very good with our female hiking friends. The drive from Legian Bali with our driver Mr Dekwan who is good man and safe driver, was interesting seeing the country side.

Such a lovely hike up Mount Batur for sunrise with beautiful views. Our guide Ricky was really great pointing things out along the way to tell us about the other mountain peaks / volcanoes and history of eruptions. He was always making sure we felt good on our hike and had everything we needed and took great photos for us. The breakfast at the top was simple but so tasty and nice hot drinks for sale. We would highly recommend him and the experience. What we would mention for those that do this - don’t be surprised that on the route are jeeps and motorbikes taking other people up - so the route is not so peaceful / out in nature feel as you would expect. But they can’t go all the way up so the last bit is nice & quiet and the feeling on the top is lovely and the views are amazing.

Great experience! Everything was well-organized: on time pick-up, coffee/tea and cookies when arriving in base camp, and a breakfast on top of the mountain. Our guide Ricky was also very good! He was taking care of us all the time, knew the best paths for going up, and could tell us a lot of interesting facts about Mount Batur, and above that he is also a great pothographer! We really recommend to ask for Ricky if you do this trip!!!

Great experience! We had a comfortable drive and the walk up the volcano was breathtaking. Very nice driver and guide named Ady!

Our tour guide was really good. We are relatively fit so it was nice to have a personalised experience and to hike at our own pace. He was very good at this. I recommend that anyone who does this tour takes extra layers for the top though. It is very very cold and just a jumper isn’t enough. You can hire a blanket but even that doesn’t help too much.

What an amazing experience. From the moment you get picked up with your drivers who were both Agus you felt completely safe and cared for. We had Gunawan as our leader and he assured us 3 adults and our 3 under 11 year old children were taken care of. Highly recommend this tour and these guides 🌸

The whole experience from the start to end was awesome, overall a manageable hike, yet with a very rewarding view at the top. Special mentions to our experienced guide Gunawan and Riki, who were very friendly and helpful. Some of us were a little slower but they had always been very patient with us and looked out for our safety all the times. Their photography skills are amazing too! They would take the initiatives to guide us to great scenic spots for the photography moment. Also thanks to our driver Kadek for the smooth ride to and fro our accommodation.

The trip was well organised and brilliant, Ady our driver was very pleasant and friendly, ensuring we got to our locations safely. Our guide up the mountain was also very helpful and friendly. Even when I was struggling he provided us with a helping hand and motivated us to the top, ensuring we used the best routes. The views at the top were spectacular albeit slightly cloudy. 10/10 would recommend.

Ketut has been fun to be with and very respectful. Very recommended tour guide. He knows the place very much too and gives you options if you need shortcut or the normal long road.

I went as a female solo traveller to the sunrise hike to Mount Batur. The communication went through Whataspp and it was all very clear. The driver was perfect on time. The personal guide I had to do the hiking was very friendly. At the top he offered to take as many pictures as I wanted and he showed me the good spots. The breakfast at the top was also delicious. Highly recommend!

Great driver and guide for the trip all together - were very caring and thoughtful throughout the whole trip. Managed to get very lucky with the view at the top and also beat the crowd, breakfast at the summit was also a nice addition. All in all definitely would suggest as it was a very memorable experience.

We were picked up at 02:30 from our hotel by Wira who was punctual and very pleasant. We chatted on our way to base camp. At base camp we met Riki who was our guide for the early morning trek up mount Batur. Riki was very knowledgeable and helped us up what was quite a tough hike. At the top he took loads of photos and videos of us and took us to all the viewing points. Breakfast was amazing with the eggs being cooked in the volcano. Best activity we’ve done all trip with such a sense of achievement at the end. After hiking back down Wira took us to a local coffee plantation where we got an insight in to how they make the coffee and then a tasting session. The coffee was needed after the early start. Massive thanks to Wira and Riki for a brilliant trip

Really wonderful experience start from the prompt pickup by Mr. Bawa at 1.30 am from the hotel, well guided by Mr. Katuth, nice breakfast at the summit and drive back to the hotel.. Worth waking up at 1 am to enjoy this adventure..highly recommend this tour

We had an epic experience climbing Mount Batur on this trekking tour! If you’re staying in the Seminyak area it’s a very early 1.30am pick-up, followed by a long 2h drive to the start of the hike, but the ensuing experience is well worth it. Our hike to watch the sunset was spectacular and made all the more enjoyable by our guide Gunawa, who was fantastic. He was lovely to hike with and knew the best spots to take the most epic photos for us which we’ll treasure for years to come. The coffee plantation visit and tasting on the way home was interesting, too. Highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for an adventure in Bali!

This is one of the most amazing experiences. It was not easy to wake up early but SO WORTH IT to see the sunrise at the top of Mount Batur. From start to finish everything was perfect. The driver Kadek Agus picked us up bright & early and took the time to explain so much to us along the way. Our guide up Mt Batur, Ketut, was so great. Always making sure we were feeling okay and taking breaks as needed. At the top, we had a delicious breakfast - eggs, banana sandwiches, fruit and other treats. Ketut is also a great photographer! Taking so many pictures that well cherish forever. Make sure to pack some extra layers for the top, it can be quite chilly & we felt grateful to have packed our windbreakers! Thank you to Ketut & Kadek Agus for an incredible experience!

We had the most wonderful time on our trek. Our guide Gun was very helpful and entertaining and motivated us to get to the top. He was also a great photographer and took really nice pictures of us. Our driver Kadek picked us up from our Airbnb and zoomed through Bali to ensure we reached the trek start point on time. The sunrise was worth the climb!

Our hike to watch the sunset was magic and our guide Ketut was fantastic and took sensational photos for us. We loved visiting the hot springs and coffee plantation too.
