You’ll start your climb in the early hours of the morning, guided by a local who knows every step of the trail. The hike takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, and while it’s a decent workout, it’s doable for most people with basic fitness. Just pace yourself and enjoy the journey up. At the summit, you’ll be greeted by an incredible sunrise view as the first light spills over Lake Batur and Mount Agung in the distance. It’s peaceful, breathtaking, and 100% worth the early start. Your guide will often prepare a simple breakfast and warm coffee at the top—nothing fancy, but it hits the spot when you're sitting above the clouds.
The hike was fun and a bit challenging. Breakfast could have been a bit better, but otherwise everything was as expected. Extra plus for Ardana who drove us, he arrived on time, was nice and pleasant to travel with. The sunrise was magical!

I love the hike. It was very vigorous, but thoroughly enjoyable. I would do it again…in three or four days so my legs can recover. That being said, my driver, Suka, and our guide, Bona, we’re both excellent. I would highly recommend either of them for anyone who wants to make this trek. They made sure we stayed safe, informed and had a great time. Most importantly, they made sure my husband did fell into the volcano.
This was the most amazing experience! Our guide was incredible. We were a group of 4 with varying levels of fitness and the guide accommodate us with no issues. When doing the summit portion, bring very warm clothes for the sunrise. It is a lot colder than you'd expect

Highly recommend! From my experience, picked up in Ubud at around 0230, arrived the base of Mount Batur at around 0400 and got to the peak by 0600. Returned Ubud centre at around 1100 after the hotspring and coffee plantation experience. By no means Mt. Batur was an easy trek, a certain level of fitness is required, although there were motorbike taxis along the way as an option.

intermediate trail and friendly guide. Wonderful view. if cant to continue hike or u at your limit. can deal with gojek guys to bring you up summit there. but need to pay them if use gojek service
This is a great trip to do when your in Bali, yes it's a steep 1700m climb but We managed it so anyone can if you take your time. The guides are brilliant telling you all about the volcano's and keep you safe. Be warned though if you want to see the sunrise it's a very early start, but we'll worth it!!!!

Thankful to driver Deno and Our mountain guide Adiarta for this wonderful trip! I booked the trip really last minute at 8pm the day before and the boss of this trip was able to get Deno to message me the details almost immediately. The climb up Mt. Batur was really challenging but the top at the view was so worth it! Adi kept at our pace and gave us alot of insight on Mt.Batur, it was really entertaining and relaxing
The whole experience was great from start to finish. Organising a hotel pick up and drop off was easy and the hosts had great communication. Ketut has got awesome local knowledge and reassured us the whole journey. We were provided with a lovely breakfast at the top of the mountain. Ketut is also a master photographer. Beautiful sunrise at the top of Mount Batur - Gede was a great guide up the slope and phenomenal about making sure our family felt safe throughout. He went and found some benches and blankets at the summit so we could relax and enjoy the sunrise with some hot chocolate and sandwiches. An amazing experience.
The hike was excellent, our guide was really accommodating and kind. Batur went above and beyond my expectations. What I definitely wouldn't do is bathe in hot springs, where our chauffeur took with the words we don't have to pay on the spot, we can pay him then… ;) Also, coffee and tea tasting is fine, but I also wouldn't take it anymore. I can't say a single bad word about the hike.
It was a lovely trekking and the weather was perfect, I can’t believe how the world is this much beautiful and how amazing my experience is, it was unforgettable trekking experience for me, my tour guide was very kind, patient and helpful, I would do again
really nice experience with beautiful views from the beginning to the end (mount batur, coffee plantation). If you include the natural spring i would suggest to go down early from the mountain, so there are not many people at the natural spring. At the coffee plantation you can try out various coffees and teas for free and if you love one of them you can buy it. All in all a really good experience with the only downside of standing up early. ;)
This was a great experience, our guides Dadi and Wayan were incredibly helpful, giving us lots of info and encouragement and help on trickier areas. The timing was great to see the sunrise which was stunning, and we were so glad we did the crater walk after, which a lot of people didn’t do, but the views somehow got even more incredible. It was lovely to have breakfast and a hot drink at the top, and it was a great atmosphere going up and down with other people whilst staying in our own group too. Thanks Dadi for great communication and Kadek for navigating the narrow roads near where we are staying to pick us up. Thank you!
It's a great activity. If you are physically fit, you should definitely try it. Watching the sunrise on such a sacred mountain is a priceless experience.

We had a wonderful time on the sunrise hike! Kampiah is very kind and shared his knowledge of the area. Best thing was he had us to the top before the sunrise and just before the sky was beginning to show color from the dark of night. It was a beautiful experience!

Yus and komang were both excellent and helpful. The overall experience was good. Thankfully, it did not rain and it was clear enough to see part of the lake and the crater.
While we didn’t get to see the sunrise due to cloud cover, our guide, Wayan, and our driver, Andi, made the experience memorable and enjoyable. I especially appreciate the care and attention they both took to ensure the best experience possible. I would recommend the tour.
Our driver Dewa was super punctual and helpful, accomodating for our tight schedule in the morning. We had Putu as our tour guide, who was wonderful. He made great conversation, helped my mom up the mountain and didn't mind making all the stops we needed. Putu also took some fantastic photos at the top. Although you'll come down very tired from the lack of sleep and challenging hike, I can't recommend this experience enough!
Absolutely fantastic experience! My driver was Ketut and he was 10/10, very friendly, talkative, attentive and professional. He was also a very safe driver for the whole journey (over 2 hours!). I would highly recommend him! My guide was Nick and he was also 10/10, friendly and talkative the whole journey. He was also amazing at taking photos and videos of the hike.
