This is the best experience. If you need to experience something in Bali it should be this. Riki is the best guide. He is really kind took the time that we needed to get up there. He helped us in the difficult area and even proposed himself to carry our jacket when it was getting hotter. The breakfast was amazing and the view was more than amazing. Riki also took amazing photos AND videos of us to keep this memories forever. This was an absolute wonderful experience that I highly recommend anyone to do.

An amazing experience watching the Mt Batur sunrise. My driver, Mr. Komang, was right on time for pickup, very friendly, and extremely informative about the local area. His English is excellent and he was very helpful throughout the journey. The local guide for Mount Batur was very sweet and caring. She kept checking on us and guided us patiently all the way to the top. Overall, it was a truly memorable and wonderful experience.
I found the hike tough but my sister was fine - she’s trains regularly where I just walk and weights. Our guide was very accomodating though and we just stopped often. Would recommend good shoes and a change of clothes for after cause everything gets very dusty. Couldn’t say enough good things about our guide, he was incredibly knowledgeable and a great sort! Took some super pics for us up the top too!
Great trip to the top of Mount Batur - very glad that headlights and a trekking stick were included! Our guide was nice, ensured our safety and got the job done. We started the route near the same road where Jeeps were also going up, but peeled off after 20 minutes to a hiking-only path. Hot springs were fine - very commercial but nice to have a soak after the hike! Heads up - if you are looking for a tour where you're being informed about the mountain and its surroundings, this might not be for you. Our guide spoke just enough English to cover us for the trip., but not enough for longer explanations or to answer some of our questions about the history of the area.
We went on the Mount Batur trecking with our guide "Adi". It was really amazing, not just because the breathtaking sunrise, also because our guide was really funny, spoke good english and told us a lot about the history of the vulcan. We would definitely recommend the tracking. Oli & Andrea
What can I say about this experience, the best on my visit to Bali. We were picked up on time at 2.30 am by Radek who drove us to base camp safely and gave us all the information we needed as to what to expect. It was there we met our guide Gunawan who gave us some tea before we set off Then on to the climb which took about 1.15 minutes it's quite challenging but Gunawan s kindness and help and a few breathers we made it to the top. Although still dark the light was just starting to come through. As we sat Gunawan went to prepare our breakfast which was great. Then as we light started to change the view started to appear truly amazing Gunawan took some fantastic photos of us and was a real laugh we had a great time.then when we were ready back down we went to meet Radek who took us to the thermal spa which was nice to rest the tired legs ,then back to the hotel to rest expertly driven by Radek Amazing
This was the most amazing experience and well worth the steep ascent . This hike was steep but short and for anyone with a moderate level of fitness this is fine. At the top this was such a fabulous experience and well worth the wait Our guide was brilliant, he pushed us up so we got good spot waiting for the sun to rise . We were given blankets, hot tea and a breakfast . Once the sun was out he took us to different points of the mountain for pictures and these were spectacular. One experience we will never forget. Definitely recommend.
Absolutely stunning view from mount batur. very friendly tour guides who were always there to assist with anything
Great time going up to Mt Batur, after relaxing at Natural Spa and finishing the day visiting local Abian Kusuma Sari coffee plantation. Our tour guide, the coffee guide and driver all were wonderful and helped us with everything we needed.
We booked this excursion back in the UK a long time ago so I wasn't sure whether it would actually work? However all was good. From start to finish. We were picked up from our hotel bang on time by our driver for the day Kadek Dwika. He drove us to base camp very early in the morning where he handed us over to our trekking guide Adi. Adi guided us up the mountain and made sure we stopped for breaks. When we reached the top we sat down by a hut where he cooked us breakfast while we waited for sunrise. It was a beautiful sight for sure. Adi took us to the summit where the view was spectacular 360⁰. On the way back down Adi made sure we were OK and told us when it got a bit slippery. He handed us back over to our driver Kadek who took us back to our hotel. A few things to consider though, it is a volcano and some of the trail up is steep and hard work. Volcanic Ash is very fine and gets in your shoes/boots so your feet will be black once you get back down. However. This excursion is one of the best things I have ever done so I would very much recommend it. Thanks again to Adi our guide and Kadek our driver, both did a great job
Online booking was very easy. Our driver Kadek, guide for the hike, and guide at the coffee plantation were excellent, very helpful throughout the day. The hike was amazing!! Perfect weather and views. Definitely a must do experience in Bali!!!
Today me and my wife did the Mount Batur Trekking Tour. We had our pick-up in Ubud at 2.30. Right on time and right in front of our villa Kadek Dwika pick us up. The most polite, safe and fun driver we have had during our stay on Bali. He also has lots of knowledge about the island, Mount Batur and all the other things the island has to offer. Ariving at the car he opend the door for my wife and at our request he also stopped at an atm during our drive for Mount Batur! Kadek is a good and safe drivers with a clean car. When we arive at the basecamp for the trekking tour he also opened the door for my wife(he did this everytime, a real gentleman) and we immediatly got some coffee and tea with some lovely cookies. Also we met our trekking tour guide Gunawan, I think he is the most experienced and fun guide of Mount Batur. Before we left he gave us some lights and a stick for the hike. During our hike up Mount Batur he always made sure he had our tempo and that we will arive safely on the top! He also made us laugh for like 30+ times. He knew everything about the mountain, hiking and he also new all the other guides. What made it a nice and social walk. When he saw a girl of a other group Who was struggling to get up he also made sure her guide waited for her and he also gave her his stick so she could cary on more easily! He also put our sweaters in his bag and carried my wifes bag when it was broken. So thoughtfull and sweet! Ariving at the top he gave us the best seats posible and made us some lovely breakfast! He boiled some eggs and bananas in the steam of the vulcano and made us some delicious egg & banana sandwiches. We also get fresh fruit, chocolate cookies and a candybar. More than we could eat. He also walked down the hill to get us some hot coco to keep us nice and warm. I think he was a professional photographer is his past life because he made us some really beautifull pictures and knew the best places for it. During our walk down me and my wife wanted to speed it up bit. And there we went, half walking & half running like an chicken it was awesome. Gunawan gets a 1000 out of 10 on everything you can imagine. When we arived at basecamp Kadek was waiting for us to bring us to the Hot-Spring during this drive he told us some more about the landsites and then he turned up the music. In 30 seconds the car changed into a little"karoake" car and we were all singing happily on some great songs! Ariving at the hot-spring he showed us the way and took care of our tickets, towels and showed the way to the locker. We enjoyed a lovely swim in the hot-spring and enjoyed the welcome drink wich was provided by the tour! When we where finished at the hot-spring we jumped back into our "karaoke" car for the next stop the Luwak Coffee Plantation. So again we where singing and it was like a party on our way to the Luwak Coffee Plantation. Ariving there we had a tour of the plantation and a tasting of different coffee and tea, and ofcourse ending with the MOST delicious Luwak Coffee. They also had a lovely shop where you can buy the products for really good and fair prices. After the tasting we went back to our new friend Kadek. He offerd us to stop at a nice restaurant with good food if we were hungry but we declined because we were to tired of the tour. So Kadek brought us home. Singing, having fun and filled with great memories and joy! Long story short: I recommend everyone to book a tour here they get a 1000 out of 10! Above our expectations! SUKSMA Kadek Dwika & Gunawan!
Everything was arranged so good! Our private driver, Kadek Dwika, picked us up in the middle of the night and drove us safely to the start of the trekking. Then Wayan took us up the vulcano. We got head lights and water. The trip up fell hard on me because i just had been sick, Wayan was really patience and even carried my back for a while. After the sunrise Wayan made us breakfast and took us down again. He really took his time to make some really great pictures of us. Then Kadak drove us to the hot springs and coffee plantation. All with smiles, nice music and some singing together in the car. Absolutely great trip, thanks guys!
The view was amazing so worth the super early start our guide ketut kartana was superb legit 10/10 would 100 percent recommend anyone coming to Bali to do the mt batar sunrise climb. Will definitely be back to tackle the big one
We chose Bali Trekking Tours because of their 5*reviews for our recent trip up Mount Batur for sunrise and the Hot Springs. The whole team from the driver Kadak who picked us up from hotel to the guide who took us to the top were extremely friendly and helpful. The whole trip was fantastic and we got to see the most incredible sunrise. Amazing! I would throughly recommend this trip while in Bali.
Amazing place is mount Batur to see sunset. Wonderfull view. The trek is not so hard, even for people dont used to do sports. Great journey from the beeging till the end. Special thanks to our helpfull driver Kadek🙏
We had a private tour for 7 people, and we had a great time! Our driver was on time to pick us up. We had two trekking guides, who were amazing and super nice and knowledgeable. They always made sure we were safe, taking breaks, helping us in the difficult parts, and telling us about the sights and some history. We found the hike more challenging than expected, physically and technically due to the steepness and the traction in some parts. But the views and watching the sunrise were spectacular and so worth it! We were given enough time in the hot springs to relax. Then we got a tour of the coffee plantation and tried different coffee and tea. It was a good itinerary with fun adventures and nice wind down afterwards. Also, the staff quick to respond to messages before and after the trip. We forgot something in the van so we contacted them and they came back soon after. I would love to do another tour with Bali Trekking Tour.
Our guide was excellent, it was safe relatively easy 2h walk up followed by a simple breakfast and sunrise with spectacular views.
Driver very safe . Driving was vert safe. He looked after us well he knew the roads. He understood english
This is an amazing hike. If you dress warm, have walking sticks, are in good physical shape and are able to get up at 2 am to begin this adventure you are in for a great experience! There were motorcycles available to help those in need, to bring you up. It did cost about $70 round trip to help those in need. I am in good health for a 73 yo, but I needed the help of the motorcycle. I did fall on the way down, injuring my face and hands. My guide was extremely helpful by holding my hand offer on way up and down. I did appear to be the oldest person on the top! As I said before this is a great clime and experience, better suited for younger folk or to those who wish the help of a motorcycle.
Everything was amazing and perfectly organized, from start to finish. Private car, quick and safe drive to the starting point and afterwards to the hot springs and coffe plantation. The hike itself and the view at sunrise was just incredible and all thanks to the best guide we could had. We recommend to everyone and we’ll certainly use Bali Trekking Tour services when we’re back in Bali next time
Most amazing morning trekking up the mountain. The guide helping and asssiting was very good ! Amazing experience and something truly you will never forget! When you get to the top the breakfast supplied by our guide was truly delicious! Then as the sun starts to appear you truly get to experience the most amazing picturesque views from this mountain top! Photos taken by the guide we will cherish for ever!
I would like to thank our guide Riky. What a wonderful, friendly and patient guy. He is informative, knows the mountain and is happy to share knowledge. We loved the tour and thought the breakfast was excellent as it is carried up and cooked up the mountain as well. One comment. It is the rainy season, this is not for the faint of heart. It is steep, slippery and at some points a bit dangerous. The view, however, makes up for it. Happy we went! The hot springs afterward are an excellent way to end the tour. We skipped the coffee plantation, had been already.
Excellent trip with a great driver and tour guide. The guide on the trek was extremely helpful and accommodating, he always helped us and took photos like a professional photographer. Our driver was great, he answered all our questions and gave us plenty of time to explore Mount Batur and the Hot Springs.
What an experience ! Our driver Ady picked us up from our villa and drove us to the base camp of mount batur. He was very accommodating and bought breakfast for us to have once we reached the top. We met our guide Mo at the base camp and he gave us tea/coffee and snacks to have before we set off. A torch and walking sticks were provided. He was happy to go at whatever pace suited us best. Once we reached the top he gave us breakfast which was mixed sandwiches, boiled eggs, chocolate bars and fruit. Mo made sure we had the best spots for photos. After sun rise Mo took us to the highest point and to look at the hot steam vents and more photos of course. Descent was whenever we were ready and Ady was waiting at the bottom for us with the car. Ady drove us to the hot springs which was included in our deal. He encouraged us not to rush and to enjoy our time in the pools. The views were stunning and the spring pools are heated. When finished we had the option to go to the coffee plantation however we chose to go back to our villa as we had other activities booked. All in all I would definitely recommend and do it if you get the chance! The early morning is worth it!
An excellent experience at each of the stops and having Bali Trekking (Ady) as our guide. On time, professional and thoughtful. As for Mount Batur it is an amazing experience that requires decent physical shape. It can be a bit crowded so I recommend hiking up as quickly as possible and getting a good seat/view.
The tour was awesome. Everything worked out very well. Our driver was very entertaining and attentive and gave us some tips. Our guide at Mount Batur was very nice and helpful. She explained some things to us and took wonderful photos of us on the side. We would recommend the tour to anyone and do it again and again.
It was great! Our guide Adi was super nice, he made that experience even better, he knew all the tricks for perfect experiences and photos! Then the relax time In the hot springs and the coffee plantation really made a perfect day. I will definitely recommend to anyone coming to Bali!
This tour was amazing. Both our driver for the day and our hiking guide were fantastic. Our hiking guide was really great about anticipating breaks that we would need and helping us with making it up the mountain. While it was a lot of effort to get up there, the views from the top and the sunrise were amazing. Our hiking guide was also really knowledgeable about the history of the area, so we learned a lot about not only the volcano but also Bali in general. Our hiking guide also took some amazing photos for our group. We added on going to the hot springs and coffee plantation after the hike and I highly recommend it. Soaking in the hot springs after the long hike felt great on our tired muscles. The coffee plantation was beautiful and so much fun! This day was one of the most amazing days of our trip!
The organisation of this tour was brilliant - we received a reminder email the day before the hike; our driver was waiting for us before the agreed time at our hotel reception (2.30am in Ubud) and was waiting for us on time after the hike and the hot springs. He was really friendly and answered any questions we had. Our guide for the hike (Gede Antara) was great - he went above and beyond to make sure we had the best experience. It was just myself and my partner in his group (which we didn’t expect but was a nice bonus!), and he really looked after us. Although I didn’t ask for assistance, at tougher points he literally held my arm and helped me up or down and I got the impression that if anyone was struggling he would do anything he could do get them up and down safely. At the top, he made sure we got ahead of the crowds so we got photos before it was busy, and pointed out all the best spots to take photos (and even took some great ones himself for us). The hike itself was definitely tough at points - my partner and I are fairly fit and we definitely got out of breath and sweaty - but I think it would be manageable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. And of course it was well worth it when you reached the top - one of the best experiences I have ever had! Our guide gave us torches and offered us a walking pole - I wasn’t sure whether to take this as most other people at the start point didn’t seem to have them, but was glad I did as it was very useful. My partner didn’t and said later he wished he had (though he managed ok without it). Footwear wise - people did do it in trainers but I had hiking boots and would recommend them, the path is slippy due to loose gravel and very dusty so would recommend them for the grip and also to avoid your trainers getting very dirty! The breakfast given to us at the top was much bigger than I expected - coffee/tea/hot chocolate, a selection of fruit and biscuits, boiled eggs and egg and banana sandwiches. Even a packet of tissues - I’m not sure if this is as standard or because Gede had noticed I had the sniffles on the way up! The hot springs was also a perfect way to finish off the morning - relaxing at a beautiful location. Yes it is in a resort rather than a very rustic place - but it means that again, everything is well organised and set up for big groups of people and so added to, not took away from the enjoyment in my opinion. Thank you to Bali Trekking Tour for a brilliant experience!
Thoroughly enjoyed the once in a lifetime experience of the sunrise trekking, our morning was certainly made when the guides brought out their guitars as the sun came up! Guide was extremely friendly and funny, couldn’t have asked for a better one - continually made sure we were okay. However, our one issue with the morning was our driver/ company rep was not very welcoming, and due to him not mentioning and the car not having company logo on It made for an unnerving start. His attitude did not improve on the drive home either. Linking to the hot spring was a fantastic idea and a great way to wind down.
This whole tour was fantastic! Our camping was so great & comfortable. The dinner cooked over the fire was delicious too!! The Trek was harder than I expected but our guide Wayan was amazing and helped me up the whole way! The sunrise was totally worth it & the hot springs afterwards were the perfect reward. Having delicious coffee in the plantation afterwards really woke us up☺Thanks to our great driver too, who got us there and back again! Thank you☺
We decided to do the Mount Batur Caldera Camping Trek through Bali Trekking Tour and it was the highlight of our honeymoon. I had low expectations given how affordable the trip was, but our experience far exceeded our expectations. Both our driver and our tour guide were both outstanding and the views from the top of the caldera were amazing. We also had a fun boat ride across a lake, went to the most amazing hot spring (more of a resort), and got to sample a dozen teas, coffees, and chocolates at a local coffee plantation. Overall amazing experience and I highly recommend this tour.
This trip was incredible! Definitely consider the camping over just the hike to Mt batur. It’s gives you the entire experience by camping overnight. Great evening playing guitar with the guides by the camp fire. They cooked us an awesome dinner and shared some of their Balinese culture. There was a Balinese dance performance which was really special. The views are unreal from the lake and the boat out to the island is super fun. The morning sunrise hike was great. Our guide made us feel safe and he was really funny and especially caring. He took lots of photos of us from the top which was amazing and was able to send them to us! When we got to the top it was the most incredible 360 view with the volcanoe, batur, and view of Lombok over the ocean. It’s looks like you are on top of the world. Great breaky and coffee and the top! And rest of the day was really special at the hot springs and coffee plantation! Loved it! For some feedback I think it would be cool to also do a sunset hike, walk, or other activity in the evening to explore more the night when we get there! Thanks so much for the amazing experience! I have already been recommending!
My boyfriend and I did the trek-were not much of morning people, but the view, sunrise, and our guides made waking up at 2am so worth it!!! Our guide was helpful, and our driver offered great conversations. We did the natural hot springs after and it was the perfect way to relax after the hike. The breakfast while waiting for the sunrise accompanied by our guitar playing guide was serene to say the least. Definitely recommend!!!
Highly recommend this tour! The guide was fantastic and super helpful. He took the extra time to make sure we weren’t too tired and to help us up some of the steeper areas. The sunrise was beautiful and was made even better by the acoustic guitar playing and singing from our guide. He was also an excellent photographer. The hot springs afterward were the perfect way to relax after the uphill hike!
We recently visited Bali on our honeymoon and booked a sunrise hike and hot bath excursion during our stay in Ubud. The driver picked us up from our hotel and chatted with us throughout the drive. We got to the parking lot and met our guide, Made, who made sure we had trekking poles and flashlights. On the way up, he was great at asking us if we needed breaks, keeping a decent pace, and adjusting his speed to our needs. We were one of the first groups to the top, and he found us a great spot and made us a delicious breakfast. The sunrise wasn’t perfect because it was a cloudy morning, but we still got glimpses and the experience of being on top of a volcano at sunrise was well worth it with or without a clear sunrise. On the way down, I was a little nervous and Made was great about it. He made me comfortable and I felt great walking down in no time. He took amazing photos for us, told us about the surrounding areas, history of the mountain and village, and other fascinating facts and stories about Bali. Once we got to the bottom, our driver was waiting for us and took us to Batur Hot Springs. It was the perfect way to end the excursion. It was relaxing, sprawling with gorgeous views of the lake and mountains. The ride back to the hotel was great as well. I highly recommend this excursion, especially if you are spending time in Ubud, but this is something that should be done by anyone visiting Bali.
One of the best highlights of our vacations in Bali. This trekking tour was super well done. For the price, we had pick up from hotel, guide to the top for us, breakfast, entry to hot springs water pool after the descent and a coffee tasting experience after.. 12h of pure good moments. Recommended to bring sports shoes and jackets as its cold up there. There are either easy or hard way, if you are good athletes and are used to endurance, go for the hard way, its worth the thrill. Enjoy this moment at the sunrise! :)
We loved them so much, we booked them twice! We used the Bali Trekking Tour company for the mt batur/hot springs/coffee plantation excursion as well as the full day Ubud tour. Our driver both days Nyoman was fantastic. He was a great driver, flexible with what we wanted to see, spoke great English, taught us a lot about the Balinese culture. Thank you!
Best thing we did in Bali! Was really happy I booked through this company. The guide Ketut was incredible and made the whole experience what it was! Our driver was really friendly and professional. Highly recommend this trip to anyone!
We started the tour at 3.30 am. Thanks to our guide and our enthusiasm we got on the top at 5 am (but the sunrise started at 6:15 am, so do not worry, you have got plently of time). It was very cold up there (about 8 degrees Celsium), so do not underestimate that! A jacket or two would be handy (a hat also). Breakfast was exciting! We got boiled eggs (boiled by the volcano steams!!!), banana sandwich and a lot of fruits and snacks alongside a coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Unfortunately, we did not see a lot of the sunrise, because it was very cloudy. The way down was a bit harder, because there were tons of people trying to get down quickly, so maybe start to descend a bit sooner than everyone else. Visiting the hot springs was a huge success! We got there before the opening hours (at about 9 am) so we were there literally alone! Considering how many were coming in when we left, we were very lucky! I would like to thank Bali Trekking Tour for such an amazing trip and we would definitely recommend it to everyone.
With my wife we choose the trek to Mt batur to see the sunset and the natural hot spring + the coffee plantation. Well, it was our best moment at bali, because we have been taking care by a good driver and when we arrived to the trek, the guide was very friendly, he helped my wife to go up, and talked along the trip to motivate us. At the top, he gave us a good and warm breakfast ( it's cold up there, take long pants and warm clothes for the top, some tourist bring rechange clothes, I've seen a tourist up there with just a little tee shirt and a little pants...she was so cold) . He also show me a place where you can feel the warm of the volcano, because there is a place where you can go close up to the steam and bake eggs. We had also the opportunity to see monkey, he help me to take a picture with them on my shoulder. When it was time to go down, he choose a safer way to go down, (please don't use basket, so many tourist use basket and slip sometime). when we arrived at the bottom of the volcano, the driver took us to the natural hot spring, the view was awesome, the pool was perfect and the water so warm. After taking our time the driver took us to the coffee plantation. they explained us how coffee was made, and we had the opportunity to taste different coffee and tea. after that the driver took us to the hotel. A very good trip, I recommend. During the trek I could feel that our guide was better than the other, he has more energy, more energy to help you, energy to understand you. At the top not all tourist had a breakfast. We had a very good one.
This trek/hot springs/coffee plantation package was my favorite part of our 6 day trip to Bali. Payment is online via PayPal, so no worries about paying for something you won't receive. The company was prompt in responding and with confirming pickup times. The car picked us up from our AirBnB villa right on time and we got to the base camp around 3:00am. FYI, there are only rustic (aka squatting) bathrooms pre-hike. We brought our own headlamps, but the guides will also bring flashlights. They also provisioned us with a bottle of water for the trek. The hike itself is strenuous. However, as long as you are relatively fit, you can reach the summit. Total distance was ~2 miles with ~2,000' of elevation gain. Our group was a foursome of runners, so we made the summit in 75 minutes, meaning we had a full hour to sit and wait on the sunrise. If you are less fit you can stop and rest more often and take longer to reach the top and still catch the sunrise. If you're going to sprint to the top, bring extra layers. Your sweat chills easily at the peak. Once you reach the top there are several viewing areas. Our guide suggested the benches right on the edge, not the highest, but not the lowest either. These ended up being PERFECT because you had no one in front of you obscuring the view, and a perfect panoramic of the scene. Your guide fixes breakfast while you await the sun: coffee (hot, thick and sweet in the local style), volcano steamed eggs, bananas, banana sandwiches (don't knock it till you've tried it!), oranges, and some local chocolate snackbars. We devoured everything. After the sun came up our guide, Ketut, really shined. We held a full on photo shoot in the beautiful light of day, and he really showed off his photography skills. Honestly, so many great shots. I'd say ask for Ketut on your hiked, but since that's a common Balinese name not sure you'd get the same guy, but definitely try! After we made our way down a different route, we left Ketut and our driver headed 3 minutes down the road to the Toya Devasa hot springs. We soaked, enjoyed second breakfast, and relaxed for a couple hours. Finally, around 11am we left for our third stop. Yes, this is a long day, but so worth it. Last stop was the coffee plantation Santi. We learned a lot in a short period of time, sampled 13 different types of teas/cocoas/coffees made on the plantation (including the Bali specialty coffee Luwak for an extra IDR50,000), and then headed home. We got back to our villa about 2pm. Traffic was rather bad on the way back, so that added a half hour. Most of us napped on the return, honestly, we were so worn out by the 12 hour day. But I would definitely recommend this company and package. Next time I'm in Bali I would book with them again for another trek! Thanks Ketut!!
We were not thrilled about waking up for the 2:30 am pickup but the sunrise view was breathtaking, the hike was fun and not too difficult, breakfast delicious, and the hot springs very relaxing. Our guide was very kind and spoke English well and the driver even let me borrow his jacket as I was unprepared for the chill at the top. This was our favorite thing in Bali! Highly recommend!
We had a great time on our trek. We had a really nice driver who was friendly and knowledgeable with good spoken English. Our guide (Mangku) was better than we could have hoped for. He was a very intelligent, friendly, happy and helpful man. We got along really well and would recommend him to everyone. The trek itself was really rewarding. The views from the top were amazing, and our guide even brought his guitar and sang some songs which made it really nice (still think we had the best guide!). I know groups on the other side of the volcano had to listen to really awful clubby music, so I'm glad our guide took us the way he did. We also visited the hot springs, which was really nice. I almost fell asleep in the water. I wasn't a fan of the music they blasted from the speakers though. Again, it was really bad clubby pop music. Not what I wanted to listen to while trying to relax. Our driver told us to take as long as we wanted, and he waited in the car for us. We were taken to a coffee plantation too which was good. They gave us a tour of the place, showed us all the plants and their civets, and we're then given free tasters of their teas and coffees. You had to pay to have Luwak coffee though. I'm really glad I booked this.
We had an amazing view of the stars trekking to top in the dark. We were given walking sticks to use and this came very handy climbing the slopes covered in craggy bits of volcanic rock. Once at the top we realised how many climbers had signed up for the same adventure. There's plenty of space on the mountain top to go around. It does get a bit nippy at the top so staying active is a good idea. Our breakfast was cooked using the natural steam coming through the rock cracks. After this moderately physical hike we had free time to relax in the a natural hot spring. This place was so big and peaceful. It gives a great vista over the lake. The pool edge is lined with fountains that can be used as massage spots. Our guide was flexible and allowed us to skip the coffee plantation. He dropped us off to finish the day with babi guling at Ibu Oka 2 and was nice enough to wait around for us after to drop us off at our hotel even though we said he could leave. All this without an extra fee. I suppose he felt he hadn't finished his job as we skipped the coffee plantation.
My boyfriend and I took this tour on January 6th, 2016 and I can honestly say that Bali Trekking Tour was the best company to go with. Our driver Gede picked us up on time and was very friendly. We had great conversations with him both to and from the hike and he shared a lot about the local culture and surroundings. We then met our hike guide, Nengah. As part of the tour, you're given hiking poles and water, although I do recommend bringing an extra bottle just in case. When you first arrive to the drop off spot, there may be someone trying to rent you a jacket -- don't go for it. It's not too cold at the top and the extra weight will be hard to carry on the way up. There were numerous times we passed people on the hike who said, "what! They have hiking poles? Now that's what we need!" Nenjah was a great guide. He was very funny, knowledgeable about the area, and very thoughtful. I especially appreciated how he adapted the tour to our needs and good at going our pace. For us, this meant going pretty fast, especially on the way down, when we would blow past the other hikers for a more fun and exhilarating experience! After the hike, the hot springs were a great way to relax and I highly recommend going for a 30 minute foot massage which will massage your feet, ankles, and calves. This definitely help with soreness the next day. There *are* a lot of flies in the massage area so I recommend bringing a towel to cover yourself. The coffee plantation was interesting and the guide told us a lot about how they make coffee from plant to roast. This part of the tour included a sampling of different teas and coffees and the caffeine boost was very appreciated after our 2am wake up. This company is actually run by a family and they take a lot of pride in giving a good experience to everyone who visits. I originally booked this company over other ones based on the TripAdvisor reviews and it was 100% the right call. I think this experience was one of the most worthwhile while in Bali and highly recommend you also go during your visit!
Loved every minute of it; our guide was fantastic; we were separate from other hikers so it was quite private. The sunrise was beautiful; initially a bit cloudy but then it cleared up and we had more than enough food and coffee at the top provided for us. The hot springs were better than expected, really beautiful, clean and great views
I was wondering if I had made the right decision booking the mt batur and hot spring tour but after experiencing it it was amazing. The driver was good picked us up early nice car air con etc. The guide was lovely so genuine, helpful and knowledgeable and make our experience even better. The sunrise was perfect and our breakfast was great too on top of the volcano. Well worth it one of the best things I've ever done. Sian & peter
We were a group of six twenty-something girls. We did this as part of our two week holiday and it was one of the highlights of our whole trip. We were staying in a remote Air BnB in Ubud, the guys found it really easily without any guidance from us (many taxi drivers had a problem previously so we were a little worried). We were picked up promptly at 2:30am and taken to the site to meet our two guides. The hike is hard work, but more than achievable for all fitness levels - just wear some proper shoes! We brought our own snacks and water but definitely didn't need too, they gave us loads of water at the start and end, plus a lot of food! They even cook the eggs in the steam of the volcano and you can watch them do this too. Definitely bring layers as its a sweaty walk up but gets very cold whilst waiting for the sun to rise and very hot again walking back down in the sunshine. On the walk down ask to go the Monkey route, they said they aren't always there but we were lucky and saw loads, they climb on you too! The hot springs after were a great addition to get clean from the dusty/sweaty walk. We were given more free snacks and drinks here too and plenty of time to enjoy it for as long as we wanted. Coffee plantation is a good end to wake you up and you can experience it in just 15 - 20 mins, if you're as tired as we were by this point. Everything is included and there are no hidden costs, we got so much for our money (approx. £60 each) than we would have expected. All in all, an amazing and great value day out with loads of picture opportunities and different experiences.
