We really enjoyed this combination tour! Watching the sunrise from Mount Batur was a special moment, and the trekking experience was even better with a helpful and experienced guide. After the hike, Ayung River rafting brought a completely different kind of excitement. The river route was beautiful, with green forests, waterfalls, and fun rapids along the way. It was a great opportunity to explore Bali's natural beauty while enjoying two exciting activities in one trip. Highly recommended!

What a memorable day in Bali! The Mount Batur sunrise trek was a wonderful experience, with fresh mountain air and incredible views along the way. Our guide was attentive, friendly, and made sure we enjoyed the journey safely. The adventure continued with Ayung River rafting, which was exciting and full of fun moments. Paddling through the river while enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings was amazing. A perfect combination of nature, adventure, and great memories. Definitely worth trying!
Such a fantastic adventure in Bali! We started early with Mount Batur sunrise trekking, and the views from the summit were absolutely breathtaking. Our guide was very kind, knowledgeable, and always encouraged us along the way. After the trek, we enjoyed an exciting rafting experience on the Ayung River. The river was beautiful, surrounded by lush green jungle and amazing scenery. Both activities were fun, memorable, and worth every moment. A great experience for anyone visiting Bali!
We had an amazing day combining Mount Batur sunrise trekking and Ayung River rafting! The sunrise from the top of Mount Batur was absolutely beautiful, and our trekking guide was friendly, helpful, and supportive throughout the hike. After enjoying the mountain views, we continued with an exciting rafting adventure on the Ayung River. The river scenery was stunning, and rafting was so much fun. Both activities were well organized and gave us unforgettable memories. Highly recommended for anyone looking for adventure in Bali!
I wasn’t sure getting up at 1 AM to hike to the top of a dormant volcano would be worth it, it certainly was. These kinds of trips are all about the guide and we lucked out with Ketut. There are multiple routes to the top and my sense was he chose the best ones for the ascent and decent. He is clearly an experienced guide and knows all of the Bali peaks. His super power is taking pictures that were quickly posted by my wife. He has great energy and we enjoyed our time with him very much. He’s that good. As for the hike, it’s about an hour and 1/2 up and just under an hour down. Hiking in hiking boots or trail running shoes are preferred as it gets steep in sections and feet do slip and slide. However it’s nothing that one needs to overly train for. It does get chilly at the top so three layers would be the way to go with a windbreaker, a wicking long sleeve and a base layer will do the trick. The views are amazing so it’s a popular hike and there will be a crowd at the top. Earlier is better and don’t forget to turnaround and look at the moon on the way up. Tip: our moon was waxing crescent, I think it would be super cool to see a full moon on this trek. The cool thing about this company is that the start is at their farm and not at the trailhead with everyone else. It felt more personal with hot tea or coffee before the start was a nice touch.
Early morning start and mayhem with jeeps and motor cross bikes … however the end result is well worth it. Our guide … Putu was excellent and highly recommend him
We had an amazing adventure climbing Mount Batur and then going whitewater rafting. Our guide was really careful and helped us when we had to walk over a few places with loose rocks (nothing too tricky, but she was great at making us feel safe). The top of the mountain was amazing! We could see everything from up there, and our pictures looked like postcards. After the hike, we went rafting, which was like being in a real-life Jungle Book! We saw waterfalls everywhere and the trees and plants made us feel like we were explorers. Our rafting guide was super fun and made the day even better. It was an amazing day from start to finish. Climbing the mountain and rafting through the jungle were both super exciting. My girlfriend and I had a blast and will always remember this adventure. It was the best day full of exploring and fun!
It was really awesome! The driver and guides were all amazing and so was seeing the sunrise at Mount Batur. I didn't like the initial part of the walk since the road was crowded with other jeeps and bikes (which made it dusty and noisy and polluted) but the rest of the trip and the rest of the day were outstanding. Would highly recommend them to anyone.
We had an amazing trip to Mt Batur and rafting! It was an adventure packed day that was absolutely perfect. We were picked up promptly at 2:30 and our driver, Ady, was an excellent guide. The roads to Mt Batur are narrow and winding but he was great as we napped to our destination. After the hike, we chatted in the car about life in US vs Indonesia and we learned so much about the culture and experiences, something you don’t get in guidebooks. He was always there ready for us once we finished our excursions and the rafting also did not disappoint. We had some last minute questions the night before our tour, and the company wa a highly communicative and responsive. This is the absolute perfect adventure day in Bali!
The trek was an amazing experience. Starting off at base camp with a warm coffee. The walk itself is so peaceful and the sunrise was just magnificent. Our guide Riki was super helpful and gave us so much information during our walk. He knows all the best spots for the perfect photos. Our driver Agus was wonderful, he was punctual and super helpful. Our drive was 2 hours one way but felt like 30 minutes with all his helpful insights on Balinese culture and information about our tour. 10/10 experience that I would recommend to anyone travelling to Bali.👍☀️🏝🤔
So this was phenomenal. If you like to hike this is the thing for you. Stop reading and just book it. And the rafting is class 2 (easy- I saw an 8 yo do it) but the views are truly one to gaze upon!!! We got picked up at 2:30, got there at 3:30 and started hiking. I set my record at 300 flights!! There’s an “easy” way and a “hard” way the difference is the amount of steep stairs. We did the hard way with my wife who did great! They then give you a few breakfast sandwiches, fruit, and coffee The sunrise is spectacular. I think the photos already posted should work if you’re still reading this. Norman!!! Our amazing guide got all the photos we could ask for, friendly. We then got coffee and it was great. Tried the “luwak” coffee which is also called a cat poo chino and would recommend it. It’s rich and kind of a once in a lifetime drink. The rafting is in the Ayung river. About 2 hours very fun. Good for the whole family. The river is set in a 3-500 meter canyon and the views are amazing!!!! So essentially would recommend this to anyone and everyone!!!!
My wife and I did the Batur Sunrise Trek and White Water Rafting trip and had a great time. The journey started with private car transport from our hotel to the base of Mt Batur where we met our guide. Our guide (I forget his name), was friendly and helpful, and gave us the option to take the easy or hard way up the mountain (we chose the hard way!). We enjoyed the hike up, but the real treat was at the top. After being provided hot coffee/tea and breakfast, we awaited the sunrise with the couple hundred of other people also at the top. Although crowded at the top, I didn't mind. Everybody else at the summit was there for the same reason, to quietly watch the sunrise and enjoy and respect the natural beauty of Mt. Batur. Our guide took us over to some of the volcano's steam vents, and showed us how locals use the natural steam to cook hard boiled eggs. After the sunrise we had a nice hike back down, and then took our car over to the coffee plantation for a coffee and tea tasting, and onto white water rafting. We enjoyed the rafting, but the hike was certainly the highlight of the trip. I would recommend this trip to anyone looking for something a bit more adventurous than the norm.
Our experience was amazing !! The driver and guide were awesome. We were not expecting the hike to be that tough (and I consider us to be in pretty good shape for our mid 20s) and the guides went at our pace and helped us the whole way! The view is unreal and they had amazing coffee and breakfast at the top. The guides made the whole day so fun. From the hike to the coffee tour to the rafting we were happy the whole way! 10/10 would reccomend to a friend !
We were picked up at 0230 am sharp, started our climb at 0330. We didn't expect such a difficult climb but we've managed to reach the top way ahead of time thanks to our lovely guide. Had our breakfast, excellent coffee, egg and banana sandwiches at the top, just before the sunrise! What a view!!! A must when in Bali!! Later on we've headed for rafting, amanzing set up, amazing views of the river and nature! A well organized trip, thank you Bali trekking tour!! Tip: Make sure to bring your warm clothes, it was windy at the top of Mt Batur, and make sure to bring some other shoes than flip flops for rafting. A big thanks to our driver who lent me his jacket for the climb, would have frozen without it:)
We have done a lot of activities in Bali, but this was certainly one of the best! Don't let the early wakeup put you off, this is a must do when you are in Bali. The hike itself isn't too bad, we were taking it pretty easy it it took around 2 hours with frequent breaks. We were given bananna sandwhiches and egg sandwhiches for breakfast while watching the sun rise which was awesome! We had a really good guide, who had been walking the mountain more or less every day for the last 10 years, his name was Katuk. He was very personable and spoke well and definitely showed us the best places to go once we were on top of the volcano! The white water rafting was great as well, it may not be as good as the Tully in Australia or some of the rapids in Queenstown, however we did go in dry season so I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. It was constant rapids as opposed to big standalone obstacles. Overall this package was awesome, spectacular views combined with a bit of adrenaline in the afternoon, highly recommended!
Amazing! So much fun. The guide helped us up the mountain and was so helpful. White water rafting was really great and the instructor again was so much fun to be around and made the experience amazing. Loved this experience!
Our trek this morning started at 2.00am from our hotel with our pick up by "Kartok"( hope I have spelled his name right) who was our driver for the day. He drove us the 1hr 10 min to the start point where we were met by "Ikoh" our trekking guide. A young 20yr old who had been guiding for the last 3 yrs doing the trek 5 days a week, literally following in his father's footsteps who, himself, had been doing it for over 15 years!..He and a drink seller "John" who joined us early on and proceeded to take care of my wife by holding her hand during all the difficult sections of the way up and kept asking us if we were going to be buying any of his backpack bottles of drink at 40000 (!) each - it's no wonder he was so attentive!. Anyway, we made it to the top and awaited the sunrise... Hoping for something positive due to all the stars in the clear night sky we were seeing on the way up, we were understandably disappointed by a cloudy, misty and non-existent sunrise..... The worst thing for us, though, and this is no direct fault of the company we used or our guide, was the sheer number of people up on the mountain (literally hundreds) and following sunrise, everyone's attempts to get down, clogging up paths that were being eroded almost to a dangerous level by the numbers using them. There didn't appear to be any attempts to control numbers and/or advise that with footings so loose, walking poles were almost mandatory. This, along with all the rubbish scattered around the paths seemed to make a mockery of the "holiness" ascribed to the volcano, but seemed to confirm that the more tourists that can be persuaded to walk up and pay all the associated charges, then the state of erosion of the paths on the mountain were just secondary... overall very disappointed with the commercialism in the whole experience, and this review hasn't even begun on our experiences of them "white water rafting" that we went on to do in the afternoon...!
I did the Mt. Batur sunrise hike and rafting trip with my girlfriend in april. She was not thrilled with the 1:30AM pickup time from Nusa Dua. The drive was several hours and our driver was courteous and appropriately minimally conversant for 2AM allowing us to rest up. On arrival to the mountain our guide was pleasant and quite experienced (he hikes the route at least 5 days a week). The route is quite steep at times without any guardrails and our guide mentioned that several travelers last year were nearly killed after a fall into the caldera. The mountain is different things to different people-- if you're in reasonably good shape its several hours with a decent sweat, though I've heard some people describe it as the hardest thing they've ever done. At the top of the mountain our guide made us some breakfast which was hardboiled eggs on bread and some chocolate candy bars with coffee. The eggs are cooked in the thermal vents of the volcano and we didn't get sick! The sunrise was incredible and well worth the trip. After the hike down, we skipped the include coffee plantation tour as we wanted to get back to our hotel/beach and instead went straight to the river rafting. The river is quite swift/rocky at times and there were several points where we almost capsized but our guide expertly navigated the Class 3-4 rapids and kept us safe. There was an impressive downpour for most of the 2.5 hours which made it feel like something out of jurassic park as we rafted through the lush countryside. We got back by 3PM to Nusa Dua and were quite exhausted but felt like we had accomplished a lot in the day and thoroughly enjoyed it. Would highly recommend
I booked this ful day tour throuh viator and it was one of the best decisions. Me and my wife had a separate guide for the trek and for rafting ! The food provided was excellent !! They take good care of your safety and well being ! Below are few tips if you are taking this tour : 1. You will be picked up from your hotel at 1.30 AM ( Kuta ) . So make sure you have enough sleep the day before. 2. Wear jackets and make sure you are well covered for the trek as it will be cold up the mountain 3. Use a lot of sun screen for your rafting tour as it is a 18 Km long river. You will not notice the sun burn during the trip but it can get nasty once you are back in the hotel. The rafting is super fun ! 4. Do not try to take pictures while on the raft, you will almost certainly drop your camera/ phone !
We loved it. Picked up by our super friendly driver who let us sleep on our way to the mountain. (2:30 a.m). Trekking was just us 2 with our guide. My friend is not so (not at all) sporty and it was her idea to do this ☺. Our guide pulled her to the top of the mountain 👌🏽. She was so grateful. After the Mt we went to the coffee plantation. We could have skipped it (we don't drink coffee). Rafting was the absolute bomb. Stunning surroundings, nice people we met only little thing is that our boat instructor could not speak so very well english (with only tourist in his boat) so some times we just did not have a clue what he was saying. After we finished the other instructor was waving with money what he was saying was TIP your instructor. Besides that the rafting was the best part. Loved it! We booked online when we still were at home. That went 👍🏽 there was only little thing they asked me 3 time where I was staying (for the pick up) and I answered it 3 times but better to much than ....
Excellent experience overall. Gede is a very polite and soft spoken driver. He was very helpful and gentlemanly. He arrived at our guesthouse to fetch us for our hike at mount batur. Our local guide for mount batur was Ary, who was also excellent. A funny, chatty young man who guided us beginner hikers really well. After the hike, gede brought us to a coffee plantation to try their tasty products. The man who showed us around there was also friendly and did a great job in sharing with us about their products and what they do there. I was sleepy from the car ride but he managed to grab my attention to learn more about coffee and cocoa and spices they grew there. Our last stop with gede was for white water rafting. We reached there abit late and had missed the briefing. But even without the briefing, we had a blast. Telaga waja river was awesome. Thrilling rafting experience. After we were done, gede was patiently waiting for us at the top with our bags in hand to pass to us to wash up. Thank you for the enjoyable experience!
My friend & I (two girls) did the Mt Batur Caldera & White water rafting tour. We were picked up at 3:30 by John who we got along with so well. He made the early start and car trip so fun. We met up with our Guide (Eddy) at the bottom of the mountain. My friend & I decided on do the Caldera trek as we are not strong hikers (we do go to the gym so it wasn't too bad). The hike took us about an hour with a couple of breaks in between. Eddy was very patient and did not rush us to the top. He was very knowledgeable with information on the surrounding mountains. He also encouraged us to take as many photos as we liked and even took the photos for us! We then visited the swings which they built by the lake (awesome photo opportunities) and did a boat ride across the lake. The whole mountain trek was breathtaking and definitelly worth the early start. From the Calderra, you can see the ocean, about 4 volnic mountains & the lake. It will be hard to beat another sunrise experience like this! We visited the Santi coffee plantation after where we got to try various teas & coffee (including luwak coffee). Afterwards we headed to the white water rafting which was awesome fun. It was not difficult and the jungle/river was gorgeous! Lunch was provided after rafting. It sounds like a long day and tiring day but our driver kept us entertained. Thanks for this life memory, will definitely be back :)
Hiking at night in the pitch black setting with such an amazing guide was something that I will never forget. My taxi service was on time and did a great job of picking us up and dropping us off in a timely manner. My tour guide Made Sucipta was in my opinion the best tour guide up there. He pointed out every point in the trail that could have caused an accident and was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the volcano and the area in general. I feel like I should have been charged for a history lesson as well! I will definitely recommend Made and this trekking adventure to family and friends. Thank you!
After discovering this excursion on Trip Advisor - rated as one of the top 10 things to do in Bali, I booked us up for the trek online. Both our driver and tour guide were great - very friendly, informative and kind. Can recommend to anyone!
I knew I wanted to hike Mt Batur and researched about 5 companies and finally just decided to book with Bali Trekking Tours. When we did the tour I realized I hit the jackpot with my decision! We were picked up by Komang, a very polite young man with pretty good english in a very nice private car. Our guide was Eroz who was fantastic! A very fit older man who spoke very good english (despite his argument that he did not) and very funny too, we had a great time with him and felt very looked after in his capable hands. The tour is private so you are not stuck with a large group, and even better they take you to a private starting and finishing point so you avoid most of the other 500 people who are hiking that day, until you get to the top that is. Don't let the early start deter you, it is so worth it! And I would highly suggest you book with this company!
The trekking and rafting experience definitely surpassed our expectations! All of the guides were so helpful and encouraging in making sure that us 7 newbies could successfully complete the trekking and rafting journey. From hauling us up the mountain to sharing about their lives and our lives back home, we couldn't have had a better group of guides! The rafting journey was also made especially memorable because of the fun-loving guides who kept the spirits high even though it was raining. Because of our large group, we had to split into 2 groups for the rafting and the travelling journeys- but the standard of service was kept high even if we had different guides and drivers. The drivers also went above and beyond their call of duty to make sure that our experience would be the best. We definitely found new friends in our guides and drivers! Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I would definitely recommend this to anyone interested! The booking was so efficient and smooth and everyone we met were so hospitable and caring. Kudos to the entire team!
They picked us up at 1:40am from Seminyak. Gede the driver was very friendly, punctual and knowledgeable. His car was clean and had air con. He gave us bottles of waters and had a nice conversation with my husband and I all the way to Kintamani. There we were met by our guide Gunaman who was also very friendly and knowledgeable He was so patient with us during our hike up before sunrise which took just over 2 hours. He kept us informed and entertained throughout the trek which was very difficult for me as I am quite unfit and also had never trekked before. My husband had climbed Mt Snowden before but for me it was a first. Gunaman was really kind and even carried my bag after halfway because he could see that I was struggling. At the top he took some brilliant photos of my husband and I which I wil cherish forever and he gave us breakfast. The eggs were boiled using the natural steam at the volcano peak which you also get to see when you make it up there! Very rewarding and well worth the blood sweat and tears! And we are very glad we chose this company to go with! Thank you. From Farzana & Salim
Thank you to all crew's bali trekking adventure. We had been good experiances in superb quality services and profesionalism performances at that time... we will recommended yours... chao. Best regards, Junaidy Timotius.
Pick up was punctual at 1:40am my hotel at Kuta. It was about a 2 hours drive to the start point. My guide's name was Ketut and it was really great. He kept us entertained and ensured that we have enough rest and water. We decided to do the longest and hardest route and it came to a point when it got really slippery (i was wearing a pair of UA indoor shoes). He volunteered to carry my bag and he held my hand all the way up. We made it to the summit in less than two hours and he proceed to make breakfast for us. Really nice egg and banana sandwiches. The road down was really really slippery (loose rocks and soil). Ketut was still holding my hand but eventually the both of us did slip and fall. We made it down in about an hour or so. Really wanna thank Ketut for being guide for my first mountain trekking trip!
Made a last minute decision a day before to go for the Mount Batur sunrise trek but booking was easy and fuss-free. Pick up arrived on time. We were given trekking poles, flashlights and a bottle of water. The skies were glittered with stars - absolutely beautiful. Most of the climb was done in the dark. I didn't have much experience and wasn't the fittest of the bunch, but my guide was patient and helped me up the steeper slopes. It was tiring but so worth it when we reached the peak. Be sure to prepare a windbreaker or a good jacket because it was cold up there. We had breakfast cooked by our guide using steam from the volcano. Wonderful experience. The walk down was longer but you're no longer pressed for time so it's okay. No toilets at all so if you're urgent you would have to go in the bushes. After reaching the bottom, we were sent to a coffee plantation for their Luwak Coffee tour - tried 12 different kinds of coffee and tea. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour and will recommend this to anyone who is able-bodied.
We went in late Nov for the Mt Batur sunrise tour. Love it! The booking through bali trekking website was easy. Got a reply the next day, made a 65 USD deposit and the trip was confirmed. Driver came to our hotel in seminyak to pick us up at 1:40am. Reached the village to start our climb at 3:30am. There isn't any toilet open during that time so make sure you empty your bladder before departure. We were given mineral water, trekking poles and flashlights. Our guide was Adi and we began our trekking! Adi was patient and frequently checked if we were doing alright during the journey. When we got tired, we had short breaks before we continued. There was a short pit stop before we continued our route up (we took the advanced route which led to the highest point). The view at the summit was amazing. Beautiful sea clouds and sunrise. It was worth the climb!! We had plenty of time to enjoy the view and had breakfast (banana and eggs sandwich, eggs, energy bars, and coffee) prepared by Adi. I find that the journey down was more difficult than climbing up. It was sandy and slippery. There were 3 of us and Adi made trips up and down 3 times to help us down at some slippery paths. Thank you! The same driver met us at the bottom and we continued our journey to visit the coffee plantation. The plantation guide gave us a tour of the place and we had tea and coffee tasting. After that, we headed back to our hotel. It was an awesome experience!
We booked through Bali Trekking Tours for the Mount Batur sunrise trek. We did it on Monday 26th October 2015. We booked online on Sunday (the day before) and received an email reply and phone call within 10 minutes. Very efficient! We were collected by our driver at 2.30am. The van was extremely clean and we felt completely safe and comfortable. Our driver introduced us to our guide (Radia) and we were provided with water, flashlight and walking stick. Our guide was fantastic and provided us with local knowledge of the area and information regarding the mountain and surrounding landscape. There were a few stops along the way to ensure that we were travelling up at a comfortable pace for our fitness. We got to assist with making our breakfast at the top with the steam. Radia was a great photographer and ensured that we had many pictures of the sunrise and going down. During the trek down we observed Radia to collect any rubbish that he saw along the trail and encourage other guides to collect the rubbish as well. Through discussions it was quite clear that he was very environmentally conscious and focused on assisting in keeping the local area cleaner.
We was picked up at 01.40 in Seminyak, we arrived at the starting point an two hours later. Our trek was difficult but not too bad. The landscape was wonderful and sunrise was excellent, Our guide Made was great, he is very well english and he know what i need on the volcano. Putu as our driver just excellent, he very well driver and he very friendly. I would recommended bal trekking and tour to every one! Our guide, Mangku, was a wealth of information. He taught us all about the mountain and it's importance to the Balinese culture, the geography and the flora and fauna.v
My boyfriend and me booked this hiking trip at Bali Trekking Tour. The package cost USD 65 per person including private transportation (comfortable Avanza) from our villa at Ubud area, the simple yet tasty breakfast (banana sandwich, boiled eggs and tea) we had on top of mountain, and a coffee plantation tour after Mt Batur trekking. We got a very helpful tour guide - Adi, who is knowledgeable (e.g. he knows several routes with different difficulty to reach the top as well as history of Mt. Batur). I am the kind of unfit person (can't even run 5 km) and never done hiking before. But under Adi's help, we were still able to reach the top within 2 hours and enjoyed the wonderful sunrise! We stayed there for about 1 hour and just couldn't stop taking photos. It was quite cold there as the starting point was at 700m above sea level and we started in midnight. Suggest to bring jacket and gloves. Also, a mask might be useful to prevent breathing in dust and sands while coming down. We back to starting point at around 9am.
We had an amazing, fun and beautiful experience! From the start, our driver Jhons picked us up at our hotel at 1.40am. He was very friendly and professional. We had a fun drive on the way to the trekking tour. He provided us the things that we needed, water, torchlight, and the trekking stick. While making our way up to the volcano, our guide Nyoman was very helpful and always made sure that we enough breaks to make it through. It was a very pleasant experience and would definitely recommend others. We will come back again for sure! Our driver Jhons was amazing and he made sure we had an unforgettable and fun experience throughout the whole trip and we sure did. Thank you for everything and for going the extra mile Jhons and Nyoman! 😊 We'll be back! 👍👍👍
We booked our cycling and rafting trip all for one day. The cycling trip was first. The guides were excellent. We rode through several villages and stopped and saw interesting things we have never seen before. The biking was fairly easy since it was mostly downhill. We were given water and coconuts. The kids of each village enjoy seeing people pass by and would all yell hello and be excited. You will see a lot of villages. The roads in Bali are crazy but we were safe the whole time. We would most certainly recommend this trip to friends and family. The bikes were in good condition. I was nervous I'd flip mine since the front brake was on the right handle bar and I'm used to the reverse of that. But everything worked out. We booked the rafting trip through this company. I wish we didn't because there was confusion multiple times with the rafting company about our payment and we didn't like the rafting anyways. But the biking as offered by Bali Trekking Tour was great!
The tour along with driver Niomen is really worth it with. You can choose what you're interested in, we went to Batur, because we knew that a harder climb would not be possible.
