Agus was super friendly, arrive with plenty time to our Villa in Ubud, excellente driver, we felt safe all time.

Great experience, stuning views. Good communication with the tour organizer and the driver. The guide didn't talk a lot but was well prepared -- he even had crampons which made the decent in the slippery terrain much easier and faster. To improve: despite my suggestion to start later (I have extensive experience in the mountains), the organizer was not open to my feedback and insisted on starting the hike around 11pm. We ended up having multiple smaller breaks and a 2:15-long bivy at 2500m -- the actual hike time on the way up was less than 4 hours. On the positive side, the guide made a campfire which turned it into a nice experience.
This climb is elite and will be fine if your fitter (mentally & physically) than the norm. Communication, pickup, was great but our awesome guide Ketut, made the trip what it was and will go as fast or slow as you need. We started at 11pm and was back at the car park but 9:45am with plenty of time at the top to enjoy everything.
Exactly as advertised. You do need to pack your own water and food that you must carry. Guides were super helpful and as we got to Checkpoint 5 to quickly we stopped there for 90minutes and they made us coffee and a fire before summiting before sunrise.
I completed the hike via the long route starting at the temple. We began hiking around 11pm. We breaked for 2 hours 2:30-4:30am and summited at 6am. We then started our descent at 7am and completed the hike at 9:30am. The views at the top are stunning. The sunrise with Mount Rinjani in the distance are superb. My guide was extremely helpful and I enjoyed the experience very much. They also organised for a driver to collect and drop me off to and from Padang Bai. The hike itself is quite gruelling and would require decent fitness, but previous hiking experience not essential. Several people did turn back but they did not have the required level. The descent was particularly tough in my opinion, very steep and slippery for the first 1.5 hours on tired legs. It does then get easier as it’s less steep and you get into the rhythm again.
The guides were great; 2 out of 4 made it to the summit, while 2 spent the night at Base Camp 3. Highly recommended for athletic people with mountaineering experience, but the hike should not be underestimated. Preparation should not be underestimated, and a good night’s sleep beforehand should be planned for.
Awesome experience, definitely recommend. Very easy to communicate with, everything was done on WhatsApp. My driver Agus was puncture and friendly, went out of his way to accommodate my requests for stops and gave me fantastic food recommendations. I couldn’t have done the trek without Ketut as my guide, who was patient and well prepared, very experienced and knowledgeable. Thanks once again for the unforgettable experience
Awesome!! Suryaa the driver picked me up and dropped me off excellent driver and very friendly I would recommend highly, thanks for introducing me to Bali coffee. Darta was my Guide, totally awesome guide his Trekking skills are top level, he kept the consistent pace I required for my fitness level. Good man all around. I would recommend the Mt Agung climb to any fit hiker wanting a challenge.
Had an amazing experience during the Mount Agung trek. Suryaaa, who was the driver that picked us up and dropped us back, was super friendly, respectful, and always on time. He also shared a lot of useful local tips and recommendations which made the whole experience even better and smoother. The trekking guide was also really experienced and helpful throughout the entire Mount Agung trek. They guided us properly the whole way, made sure everyone was safe and comfortable, and were very patient and supportive during the difficult parts of the climb. You can tell they really know the mountain well and have a lot of experience. Overall, everything was very well organized and professional. If I book another trek or tour in Bali again, I would definitely choose them again and highly recommend them to my friends and family.
Great organisation with transport, our driver Surya was lovely and met the perfect balance of talking and letting us have space when tired. Was in contact before the trip so we had confidence in arriving on time. Our guide was great, a little quick in the beginning but kept an eye on us the whole time making sure we were taking the right paths and helped plan timings to the top. The summit was spectacular and certainly worth all the effort. Having a guide helped pass all the checkpoints at the start and know how we fell in place on the trail. It was quite busy but everyone was lovely and had a fire set up on the penultimate checkpoint which was lovely whilst we waited out the time to summit. Surya was amazing on the way back, waiting for us and made sure the trip home was smooth (so much so we managed to both sleep during the trip to Ubud)
Great driver & great guide on the mountain. Both very friendly, helpful and always happy to answer questions! Very easy and smooth process to book and complete. Stunning views at the summit
Fantastic. My guide, Kadek, was wonderful. Great pacing, adaptive, prepared. I had a wonderful time. He was happy to push the pace a little in the final section since I felt strong, but patiently waited for me to struggle through the last two km and the bottom where my descending endurance fell away. As far the hike itself goes, simply incredible. The terrain is fantastic, the views spectacular. Thanks Kadek!
Great experience !! I totally recommand it ! The guide is nice and attentive, the climbing challenging, and the view amazing. 😍
Guide was very knowledgeable and safe. Didn’t go too fast for a slower hiker. Good English and god sense of humor. Would recommend The views are amazing, just not a beginner hike. Very steep and borderline bouldering at one point
It was very nice and well organized. I was with my brother and a guide and we had a very good experience of trek . Gorgeous sunrise and nice mood .
If you’re planning to climb Mount Agung alone, I highly recommend this travel agency! I compared several options, and their price is very reasonable. They also provide convenient hotel pickup and drop-off directly to the Mount Agung trailhead. The driver, Desuja, was extremely friendly and professional. When I accidentally overpaid him, he immediately returned the extra money — very honest person! The guide they work with was also excellent.
1. Only one guide knows English... 2. Unprofessional guiding, they only trekked with us, no communication at all 3. Didn't have a first aid kit.. Putu was our driver and he was kind, passionate and accompanied our friend at Besakih Temple who decided to returned midway, he even drove us to find beer and supplies after the trek on our request, he was amazing, I wish I could say the same for our guides... Mount Agung Besakih Route is not for beginners, we are experienced hikers, we were the last team to start trekking, we became the first to arrive at the summit, many other "tourists" were seemingly inexperienced and was hit hard by the long and steep ascent, one group of trekkers took over 20 hours when we see them sitting on the side of the trail. Near the summit, more tourists were hiding from the wind and cold with their emergency blanket. we were the first team to finish the route and got back to the foot of the mountain, with no other teams in sight at all, I doubt they could finish the route in time. There was a lot of burnt trees as aftermath from previous forest fire as a result of campfires. A lot of trash along the trail, it's clear this route is not well maintained or managed in a sustainable way, unprofessional guiding and hiking ethnics, a fact that the tour appear on Klook/ KKday lures a lot of first-timers or inexperienced hikers into this arduous trail, many came unprepared for what's to come. I wouldn't recommend this route for beginners.
Hiking Mt Agung was an amazing experience. It is absolutely not easy, and we suffered as two people who are very fit experienced hikers, but in the end was still very rewarding.. Our issue with this hike was our guide, whose name escapes me because he barely introduced himself or interacted with us the entire 13 hours we were out there with him. He started off at a blazing pace and barely slowed down when asked multiple times. We figured we had a timeline to hit which is why he did that, but we ended up waiting for an hour 3/4 the way up so we would not be waiting around for sunrise in the cold at the summit. So really he just wanted to do his own thing. He would speed ahead, then wait for us and make us feel like we were holding him back. He didn’t care at all about our safety when we were navigating some treacherous parts in the dark. On the way down it felt like we were annoying him by being “slow”. Turns out we were one of the first groups up and down so it wasn’t us. Making it worse was observing other guides staying with their clients, giving advice and just generally having normal conversation in broken English. My partner hiked up Rinjani 2 years ago and had a completely different experience, her guide was friendly, supportive and encouraging. Conclusion: we highly recommend the hike, and strongly suggest to Viator to not assign this guide to others. We wish we had gone through a local recommendation rather than Viator.
Tough and challenging hike. Good support by the guide. Will recommend hikers to do this hike. Plenty of rest before hike is recommended.
The sunrise from the summit of Mount Agung is absolutely breathtaking – an unforgettable experience. However, the hike is extremely challenging, and the descent is even tougher, with steep and technical terrain. Best suited for those in good physical shape and ready for a real adventure!
Difficult hike, very challenging but worth it at the end. I would recommend this activity anyone interested in trekking/hiking.
A challenge both physically and psychologically, the mountain is a force to be reckoned with, but we did it! 10h overall, 6h up and 4h down
Everything about this trip was amazing. The driver was prompt and professional, the host very responsive to queries and the local guides amazing. They are such genuine people and really understand the mountain. It is hard at times but safety is a priority , no crowds and the views are incredible. This is one of the best and most rewarding excursions I have ever done
We had an unforgettable experience with Kadek (driver) and Darta (guide) during the sunrise hike! Everything was well prepared and we felt safe and supported during the whole trip. It’s a challenging and exhausting hike but the sunrise and view are absolutely worth every step! Better be prepared: hike or trail shoes and warm clothes make your life easier and the hike more fun.
An awesome experience starting with the best manager Jero who answered all my questions and made sure we’ll take everything we need. Following up with wonderful well mannered driver who pick us up and dropped off in our hotel name Putu. Finishing with good guide Darta. My friends and I enjoyed this wonderful hike!
The hike its self was amazing ! Very slow and steady going up. Loads of breaks. Although this is quite a challenging hike for people that aren’t too experienced. Especially traveling through the night. One thing I was very disappointed with was the food. Paying the money that you do and being handed a couple bits of fruit , boiled egg and literally plain breed is a joke I’m not a duck! Even when I finished the hike they told me I had to buy my own water from a shop on the return journey home. Overall great experience due to the hike and having a personal guide that I could run back down with. But they for sure need to do something about how miserable they are with what they supply with the food and water.
I had a driver who picked me up before mid-night. We had almost 1:30 h driver before we arrived to the starting point (a bit lower than Pura Pasar Agung Temple). The hike started around 1:00 AM. I chose the shorter path, and it was about 1700 meters up and down. Since you are going up a volcano it is a very steep hike. The hike took me 4.5 hours up and 3.5 hours down. I was the only person with my guide and since it is a challenging hike, they try to put a guide for every one or two people. The guide could speak very basic English, so we did not have much communication, but he understood the basic terms and we had rest when I asked for it, especially on the way back. I think I could have enjoyed it more if he spoke more English, but I appreciate the effort he put to help me go up and down safely. It depends on your luck which guide you get, some are more attentive and guide you more carefully on the tricky parts. We arrived before sunrise to the top and the view on the top was extraordinary and we watched the sunrise. We were also lucky to have a nice weather. It is definitely worth going, but note that you need to be physically fit, as this is 1700 up and down with a total of 10 kilometers hike.
We had such a wonderful experience hiking up Mount Agung. The whole process was handled with care and professionalism. From the initial booking to the pick up and the trekking to the summit. Like everyone on the internet says..the hike is not for the faint hearted..but it was so worth it to see the sun rise over Bali. Suksuma
Wow! This hike was an incredible experience. The first time I’ve ever done anything like it so I had no expectations, what I can say is, it was tough! There’s a point where the mind takes over and makes you believe you can’t do it, but of course you can! So that was definitely one of the biggest lessons out of the hike. It reminded me of my resilience and how strong I am! You are in really safe hands, your tour guide will know this mountain like the back of his hand so don’t have fear. We really liked learning from our guide about the mountain and thought it was really special to see the offerings given to the gods at every stop point. Even when it was hard, we all had a laugh and there’s nothing that can’t be solved when you share a coffee with each other. I would highly recommend this hike. You will learn new things about nature, about Bali, and about yourself while doing it! Id say one of the most important things is to have the proper shoes and clothing… we didn’t and I think it would have been a bit less of a challenge should we have been better prepared!
Great guide he knew every part of the path very nice and don’t have to stress about dangers of mountain as I was in safe hands. Going down went smooth all in all the trip was amazing.
I had a great experience with this! I booked a solo hike with the Besakih route. I knew I would be slow, so I messaged the company and requested to start the hike earlier, so I'd be able to make it for sunrise and they were totally fine with it. It was a tough hike for me, but I managed to reach there right at sunrise and was able to enjoy the amazing views and my guide was very great and supportive the whole way. My driver Gusti was really accommodating and nice, I requested a different drop-off from my pick-up point, and he let me leave my luggage in the car overnight, so I would be able to go straight to my next destination. Probably the best and most challenging thing I've done so far in Bali, I highly recommend it if you enjoy hiking, but note that it is really slippery going down on the loose soil and rocks, so it would be best if you wear proper footwear.
An amazing experience. My guide didnt speak much english but was really nice and helpful. We got up too soon so he made a fire with 2 other guides. I got even some sleep before the sunrise. Absolutely worth it.
1. What a experience! Once to reach the top you’ll see the path to summit which is breathtaking. It seems resembling the path to heaven. The panoramic view is also mind blowing. You can feel you are three times higher than mt Batur! Mt Rinjani is also detectable even though it’s in the other island!! 2. I would never did this without my guide Ketut. Ketut is completely reliable. He knows the best way to climb safest route in every steps. Don’t worry if your pace is not good enough. Ketut consistently checks you and waits patiently until you come close enough. I strongly recommend him as your companion. 3. Ketut buda is driver to this tour who picked me up from the hotel and back. He comes in time and always ready to drive you home. He drives safe and friendly at the same time.
I booked the wrong date as I was confused on the pick up timing for the tour but the tour agency was very accommodating and accept the change of dates without hassle. Truly appreciated it. I would also like to commend our guide, Loka for being very patient with us as we climbed pretty slow and ended the tour very late. Additionally, we are thankful of our driver Niko for being a great assistance to us especially when I left my phone in his car and he's willing to go out of his way to return it to us. The climb was arduous but it was a great experience and the view is impeccable
My first trekking experience and i am proud of myself for reaching the summit. It is probably the most challenging thing i have done in my entire life but i am glad i did it.
Being more detailed because the reviews did not prepare us! We really had to look at the photos - people’s clothes choices etc This hike was the toughest we've ever tackled. Good hiking shoes (we wore runners - big mistake) You NEED gloves, a large backpack with essentials like water/food (they might give you if they don’t think you have enough even though they pack a lot for all of you), and layers of clothing were a must. Rock climbing without ropes for most of the journey made it even more challenging. Going up was just as hard as coming down. But it was all worth it for the incredible views, the camaraderie among the guides and drivers who stayed connected via walkie-talkies, and the motivation they provided was sweet. Our guide, GEDE, was down-to-earth and experienced, making the experience truly special. His been doing this hike Since he was 9. Taking it slow, communicating with your guide, asking for breaks, and enjoying the stunning scenery along the way were key to making it through. Despite the freezing temperatures at the summit, the sense of accomplishment made it one of the best days of our lives. Overall, this hike was a real test of our abilities, but the reward of reaching the top was unforgettable. It's an experience we'll always cherish and recommend to others looking for a challenge 100%.
Our driver from and too our hotel was lovely. The tour guides up the mountain were great and very informative and experienced. Such a. Great climb
Our driver Niko was amazing! He picked us up and consistently made us smile all the way to the mountain- it was such a great way to kick things off and we were so happy to see him at the end of the tour dropping us back to our hotel. The views were spectacular at the top but just bear in mind that it's a tough hike (eg. 40% of the people we walked up with did not finish it) and in total it took us 12 hours to go up and come down from the mountain (with coming down surprisingly taking a lot longer)! You're going to have to be quite fit and very dedicated to do this- if not, go to smaller mountains like Mt Batur.
The whole experience was very well organised. The driver arrived on time and was waiting for us even when we finished the hike early. The transport was comfortable and well air conditioned in the Bali heat. The hike itself was stunning and aid thoroughly recommend it to anyone outdoor enthusiasts visiting Bali!
Wonderful experience, the driver Ketut Bude was prompt and picked me in time from hotel, he was very safe driver and than trek started around 11:30 pm my guide was so nice that he took care that I follow all safety while climbing as it was raining all the way till top and he kept explaining when I must use hiking poles and when hand as last bit with rock you have to use hand. Trek hike up is around 8.5 km and with slow pace it will take 6 hrs hike. Thanks to my guide for his guidance all the way up and down back to start point
Had the best adventure on this trek despite unideal conditions on the way back down. My guide, Kadek, was super patient with me when my legs decided to just not work and I pretty much slid down half the mountain on our descent. He was diligent in asking if I was feeling alright/in any pain, was in need of breaks/water, and even bandaged one of my little “Agung kisses.” We laughed about my clumsiness the entire way. Plus the small bonfire and coffee he made for us shortly before reaching the peak was the perfect way to recharge and warm up before taking in the most amazing sunrise of my life! Additionally, my driver Agung was communicative and punctual, as well as very warm and accommodating. The journey from my accommodation to base camp was quick and easy, and I was incredibly thankful knowing I had a clean car waiting at the bottom to take me back after.
A great hike which starts early during the night. The track is very steep and the views are worth it. Do not hesitate to start later if you don't want to do a 2h break waiting for the sunrise. The organization with both taxi and guide went very well. I highly recommend it.
Great trip overall, supported by easy transport to and from the hotel and a very attentive and safety conscious guide. I found the climb challenging on the way up but well worth it once reaching the summit. A very memorable experience. The walk back down was easier, be sure to take good hiking shoes with plenty of grip.
Was very challenging but once in a lifetime experience. Driver was a legend very friendly and helpful service and the tour guides where fantastic.
It was a well organised tour, even with a late booking. Starting from the driver, Putu, who was professional, attentive and knowledgeable; he called beforehand to make sure I knew what to bring, and arrived early for pick up. My guide, Dira was also very helpful and looked after me very well for the hike itself to ensure I had a good experience. Overall excellent and would recommend!
Niko was my driver. He picked me up and dropped me off at the hotel. He’s very talkative 😀 I enjoyed the trip with him. Kdek was my tour guide for the mountain. He’s very Jung but in a very good shape. We climbed to the top of the mount in ca. 4h and it took us 2:45h to get down. We didn’t talk much since we were hiking and climbing but when we got the chance it was always a pleasure to talk to him. Regarding the trip, the pictures speaks for themself I guess. Overall it was a great trip from the start at my hotel then we hiked and climbed and in the end I was dropped off at my hotel. I would recommend it but it can be very challenging the trip. You’re supposed to be in a good shape. Best wishes Peter
The hike great, the guides very kind and fun also the driver Ketut Bude was very nice. Make sure to bring some snacks and plenty of water
Hello Team, I want to thank you for the unbelievable hike experience at Mount Agung. Special thanks to Ketut Kariase, my tour guide, who made it to an unforgettable experience. Ketut is so polite and respectful to everybody and everything, which i appreciate very much. He took care of us every time and gave us a good feeling to hike till the top of the volcano. I give your tour and especially Ketut my best recommendation 😊 🌋 Thank you and take care of you, Dominik & Laura from Germany Last notice for Hikers: it‘s a tough way up to the summit but every step is worth to hike Mt. Agung. Words are not enough to describe what you will see over there und the feeling when you reach the summit is overwhelming. 🤩🥳
Great trek, the guides were very thoughtful to how we were feeling all along the trek and especially Agung Oka was a very nice driver !
Best hard core experience! You have to be fit and have the proper equipment. The tour guides are nice local people but don’t try to race with them, you’re not going to win! Highly recommend it!
