Wayan, our guide was amazing and a wealth of information, we felt very safe with him. He took some great photos of our group throughout the day. He took us to the monkey forrest, Luwak coffee tasting and the rice fields. It was a great way to see Bali. Having a driver for the day made it that much more enjoyable as we didn't feel rushed or hurried and as there can be a distance from your accommodation, it was good to be able to have a nap between destinations and the cost was fair.

Had a great day! Was given lots of information about the Bali culture! He couldnt do enough for me to make my exoerienxw of Bali fun and exciting! Was just an awesome fun filled day!
I had a great experience today with my driver Gusti! He was very personable, accommodating and I felt extremely safe as a solo female Traveller. Overall would highly recommend booking a tour with wayan & Gusti
Wayan was fantastic, was easy service, great communication. Highly recommended
We had the most amazing day exploring Ubud with Wayan as our driver—highly recommend! We booked a 9-hour day and he picked us up promptly at 8am, ready with a flexible plan that he happily tailored to exactly what we wanted to see and do. Our day started with a visit to a silver jewellery workshop, where we got to see the craftsmanship up close. From there we headed to a waterfall, then on to a traditional wood carving village. One of the highlights was visiting a coffee plantation where we even tried the famous “poop coffee” 😂—such a unique experience! We enjoyed lunch overlooking the stunning rice terraces, which was absolutely breathtaking, before heading to the Monkey Forest and finishing the day wandering through the local markets. What really stood out was how accommodating Wayan was—nothing was ever a problem. When the weather turned and it started to rain, he adjusted the plan seamlessly so we could still make the most of our day. He was incredibly informative, answering all of our questions and sharing insights about Balinese culture throughout the journey. We got back around 5pm completely exhausted but so happy with everything we experienced. If you're looking for a knowledgeable, friendly, and flexible driver in Ubud, Wayan is the one. Highly recommend!
Wayan was a great tour director, we was extremely knowledgeable. He was happy to change the itinerary of the day to suite our needs. I will definitely recommend Wayan to anyone
We had the absolute best experience with Wayan during our time in Bali. He was so informative, kind, patient and incredibly helpful with our family from start to finish. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and he truly went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves at all times. We enjoyed our first day with him so much that we booked him again for a second day! Wayan made our trip so much more special with his local knowledge, recommendations and genuine care. We cannot recommend him highly enough and would absolutely use him again on our next trip to Bali. Thank you Wayan!
Wayan was such a welcoming and friendly driver and guide, who made us all feel comfortable on our family trip. We were a group of 6 adults and 5 children. We had planned out our big day of selected tours and stops, but we were able to change this and adjust it on the day to suit our needs and energy levels, and Wayan made this easy. He not only made sure we got to our destinations safely, but he shared a wealth of knowledge about each stop and location, he answered our million and one questions, and gave us great insight into Balinese culture. He definitely went above and beyond and we would recommend him to other family's visiting in the future. Our two youngest, 4yr old boy and 1yr old baby girl made some of the trip and long drives loud and a little stressful, but Wayan was very understanding and accommodating. We loved him so much that we even booked him again for another day later in the week. Knowing we could rely on a familiar face and safe car really helped with the little ones in our group. Thanks again Wayan! Love Jessica, Bradley, Oliver and Annabelle Kearney
We were originally booked with Wayan for our adventure to the monkey sanctuary and other local attractions but woke up sick one morning. Wayan was fabulous and rebooked us with oka who was absolutely the best guide we could have asked for! Oka took us wherever we wanted to go and was super helpful in all aspects! He helped us see all the places we wanted to on our trip to Bali!
We had fun when we saw the monkeys. It was a wonderful experience. The lunch beside the rice fields was also an unusual experience. Finally we went down the waterfall and it was amazing.
Our driver was Mr Wayan Wijana and we were so impressed how passionate he explained everything and so much in detail! We would highly recommend him. This trip was awesome. We saw the Monkey Forest and took a lot of pictures, then we visited the rice terrace, the waterfall and a temple, let’s not forget about the silver and gold artisans! The drive was long but our driver made the time fly by with his explanations. Everything was new to us.
It is a private tour! Our guide (Gusti) was punctual, polite, and very knowledgeable as he is a local of the Ubud area! Be prepared for traffic, but this is also part of Bali. We still had time to see the monkey forest, the rice terrace, and also a coffee plantation! Would highly recommend!
Nyoman was great and answered all of our questions. He was helpful at the sites and we didn’t feel rushed. We would do this again.
We had an exceptional experience on our private tour! The driver/guide (same person) was punctual, arriving promptly at our designated pickup location after confirming details with us a few days in advance. His communication was clear and professional, ensuring a seamless start to the day. The tour was engaging and well-planned, covering all the highlights with insightful commentary about the local culture, history, and landmarks. He expertly balanced the itinerary to ensure we saw everything while still getting us to the airport on time for our flights. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience truly memorable. We highly recommend this guide for private tours, especially for small groups of 4-5 people. Thank you for an unforgettable day!
Our Driver, OKO was absolutely brilliant. Really informative, looked after us really well and took photos all day of us, sat and waited while we swam at the waterfall, while we saw a temple and the city centre, and while we done the swings. A really nice genuine guy, who had our own experience in his best interests. Would highly recommend.
As a solo traveler, this was the perfect choice during the trip. With Wayan, tour guide who is friendly and professional, everything was so smooth and comfortable. Since it was a private tour, the itinerary could be flexible, changing spots unless it’s not too distant from Ubud. All these experiences made me want to meet Wayan again with friends or family.
The Monkey Forest in Ubud is such a cool spot to visit. It’s a mix of wild nature, ancient temples, and playful monkeys all in one place. The forest feels peaceful and green, with paths that wind through the trees and moss-covered statues. The monkeys are everywhere—curious, cheeky, and always up to something—but as long as you follow the rules, it’s all good fun. It’s a great place to slow down, take in the atmosphere, and snap some amazing photos. If you’re in Ubud, this place definitely deserves a stop on your itinerary.
Wayan (Jose) was great. I had the things I wanted to see in mind, and he handed me a sheet with a bunch of other options for me to choose from, which I did and had a great time doing things I wouldn’t otherwise have thought to do. He was very knowledgeable about Bali and especially the religious culture and practices, teaching me a lot when we went to the Batuan temple. The best part was the flexibility- if I decided I wanted to do something else we added it- if I decided I didn’t want to anymore we skipped it. Great day and I recommend Wayan!
Our driver Wayan shared so much about Bali and Balanise traditions as we went, making it a trip highlight. If you visit Bali, doing a trip like this, with a local guide is a must in my opinion.
The day is very bright, we now want to see the monkey forest in the Ubud area, when we arrived at the ticket window we bought tickets and were greeted by friendly and polite employees. After entering we were surprised that there were so many monkeys, but the monkeys here were very polite and liked to take the food we brought, the atmosphere in the forest is very beautiful with natural views that are still beautiful,, we are very happy to be able to visit this monkey forest,, thank you very much🙏🙏
I recommend Bali Charm to anyone looking for a fun and thorough touring day in Bali and Ubud. Our driver Oka was an exceptional guide for our tour with an on time pick up, he knew the area very well and was so nice and professional. We really enjoyed our day with him learning about Bali culture and seeing the sights. Thank you, Bali Charm and Oka for making our day in Bali incredible!
Well orchestrated visit, allowing for free roaming through the park and optional purchases to feed monkeys with the handlers taking photos. Engaging experience
Naughty monkeys and beautiful dense forest Monkey's in their natural wild habitat. At times scary but Beware, you hold a bottle or something to eat, be ready to lose it! Trees and overall surroundings are beautiful. Very small trek and could have been longer. Its a delight to see Monkey's in their natural habitat
Wayan was amazing driver, worked around our schedule and offered to wait for us while we had dinner and looked at markets, highly recommend
A huge sanctuary forest where the monkeys can roam free, they have the luxury for bring fed everyday but still be able to do the own thing. No cages and no fences, they choose to stay in the sanctuary forest. Die to do many visitors they are used to humans and you can get closer enough to take pictures
The monkey forest was pretty average. Not aloud to Touch the monkeys or look them in the eyes. You walk through their forest observing them picking each other, relaxing or eating food. They don’t provide food for you to feed them. However whilst we were waiting one of the monkeys took my orange juice, climbed up to the roof, opened the bottle and drank it all. (Cheeky bugger). Was $8 AUD per adult for entry.
Had and great experience with jony bali as our driver and guide! He was very knowledgeable , accommodating and funny.
Nice day out at Ubud. The monkeys were well cared for and very cute and staff were nice and helpful. The monkeys don’t smell very nice though!
Wayan was an amazing driver for us. He ensured that we had planned for each day and was very timely. He also made sure that we were comfortable at each destination, as well as making sure our dietary requirements were met at any restaurants and experiences. Not to mention, he is an amazing photographer! We couldn’t have asked for a better person to accompany us on our trip, we would definitely recommend him to anyone requiring a driver in Bali.
Great value and a great tour. Oka was knowledgeable and so friendly. The monkey Forest was very interesting, and there were no issues with aggressive or cheeky monkeys that we saw (well not towards us humans anyway! There were a couple of monkey fights!) The rice terraces were so amazing and Oka came for a walk with us through them, taking photos for us and telling us about rice farming. Can't say enough good things about the trip.
I had a great tour in Monkey Forest , Ubud and Rice Terraza. Oka Budiana was an Excelent guide and driver.. He knows very well these places and the history. He took a wonderful pictures for me and took me a delicios restaurant . I recommend this tour with Oka Budiana.
Good day out monkey forest is much nicer now that they have stopped people feeding the animals you have to be careful and observe the rules but had a good couple of hours here the monkeys can be aggressive at times but never felt unsafe worth a visit
We had arranged a tour guide from our resort at the conrad in Nusa Dua, he was very informative and was very patient and accommodating, the monkey forest was beautiful and a fair few monkeys to see. We really enjoyed it after that we went to the rice fields in Ubud that was spectacular although it wasn't in season we still enjoyed taking photes
It really is incredible to have so many monkeys around you, sometimes outnumbering the humans. Only 80,000 rupiah to walk around in a gorgeous setting with interesting wildlife around you. Watch for the baby ones riding around on their mothers’ bellies. Don’t miss the Holy Spring temple - it was breathtaking, with an enormous tree full of hanging vines over the valley - and the Forest Conservation loop which was a bit hard to find - there were tons of monkeys in there and hardly any tourists! Very peaceful. There was a great art display in the Exhibition Room at the beginning of the loop that provided a nice respite from monkeys for a bit. We were all worried at the beginning about avoiding looking them in the eye, but it wasn’t a big problem. It should be said that even if you don’t have any food on you, the monkeys may think you do if you’re opening a bag. We unzipped a backpack for a bandaid and they all started to approach us. They weren’t violent, but it can be a bit disconcerting. We didn’t see them stealing anything from anyone - not as big a threat as the sneaky monkeys at Uluwatu temple! They are obviously well fed and seem quite content crawling around on the walls of the temple. Get ready to take 1000 photos and videos!
The monkey forest is very good. Plenty of entertaining monkeys in a beautiful setting. Only $8Aus entry. Rice terraces were also nice. Ask ur guide to take u to water temple. It's really nice.
Our first tour using Trip Advisor and we really enjoyed it. Wayan was very knowledge, arrived on time and good company for the long car journey to and from Ubud. Would definitely recommend the tour, Monkey Sanctuary and the Rice Terraces are a must see!
The monkeys are so skilled , they work in pairs .While one monkey is distracting you the others are into you bag taking your wallet, phone, camera etc . Saw a very expensive apple phone vanishing into the bush. Keep your distance. Plenty of warning signs too.
We scheduled this for the afternoon, after we checked out of our hotel. Wayan was very obliging, and prompt. He was very knowledgeable, and answered all of questions about the excursion, as well as local/ cultural questions along the route.
Nice place to visit if you want to see and get close to the monkeys. The monkeys are used to humans.
What a beautiful place to wander around. Luckily it wasn’t over crowded. Plenty of monkeys to see. As long as you follow the rules, monkeys will not harm you.
The monkeys are very cheeky and beautiful! Take care with your things! I saw one put his hand in a woman’s pocket trying to steal something. They are divine creatures and hope they do get to eat enough of their own natural diet. We did not feed them as we want to encourage their own natural diet. Lovely forest to walk through and a very special place.
We visited the Monkey Forest as a last minute decision walking through Ubud and decided we might as well while we were there... Only took us an hour to walk around the forest and look at the Monkeys.. Beautiful place for photos, the forest back drop makes for some gorgeous pics. The Monkeys were funny to watch doing their thing but I wouldn't say this is a must do in Bali..
We loved the monkey forest, having been initially reticent. If you follow the rules and don’t scream or shout or run the monkeys don’t chase or attack you. Unfortunately we saw people break those rules. Great to see them running around, not caged in a zoo. The rice terraces were interesting, but it was sad to see young children trying to sell postcards at hugely inflated prices. They shouldn’t need to work so young.
Hi all, This activity is a must do thing if in bali and Ubud. Very beautiful , scenic beauty. Monkey forest looks very antient and well maintained. Rice terraces have great views. Overall it's highly recommended.
Loved the monkey forest. Absolutely stunning surroundings. Great to see the monkeys roaming free, healthy, well fed and, producing young. There’s also a lovely small waterfall and, walking tracks where you can observe the monkeys at play. The place is well run, clean and efficient. A must see but, do be sensible and, watch your belongings
Wayan did an amazing job taking us around. As first time visitors to Bali it was great to have such an experienced driver with so much local knowledge. We felt very comfortable with Wayan from the beginning. The monkeys were great to see as well as the surrounding area. We stopped at a great local restaurant which had amazing views over the rice terraces and the food was fabulous. Next time we go to Bali we will be calling Wayan for sure to drive us around!
Came to Bali on a surfing trip before and kicked myself for not seeing the monkey forest so this time round we decided to go and was great! Really beautiful forest where the monkeys really do own the place! We hired a driver through a good friend who lives here; we saw monkey forest, Goa Gajah temple and Tegenungan waterfall. Only issue which is contradictory is there are so many tourists at the waterfall Great day to be had and didn’t have to rush through any of the sights
Had an excellent one day tour with Wayan. We had a great time and really enjoyed the rice fields/coffee plantation, monkey sanctuary, market and temple. Wayan knows all the best viewing places so we got some fantastic photos. He took us to a delicious place for lunch and the outlook was amazing. Wayan got us to the temple in time for a lovely sunset, his timings were spot on and he has lots of knowledge of the area. Highly recommend Wayan and Bali Charm!
I have never seen that many monkeys in my life. They are very close and very cute. warning: don't try to feed them or play with them.
Wayan is the man! Not only was he incredibly reliable responding to email questions before our journey even started, he was able to accommodate some unique travel requests! Wayan speaks English impeccably. We loved that he was able to share about his personal life in Bali, including about his responsibilities in his community and its customs. Spend as much time as you can with Wayan, he's a great tour guide!
