Two straight hours of eating it. Rode 0 waves. Not fun. I've snowboarded for years. Maybe surfing just isn't my thing. Don't know if the instructor was good or bad, as I dont know enough about surfing to be able to tell. I do know falling on every attempt for 2 straight hours totally sucks though.

An absolutely amazing experience, definitely a must-do if you come to Seminyak. The instructors at this surf school gave extremely clear and helpful guidance, which made learning both fun and effective. One thing I really appreciated is that they offer multi-level courses, so if you genuinely want to learn how to surf properly and you stay for longer, this is the perfect place to do it.

I booked a 2 hour lesson with board rental. I did this several times. The facilities are good and the lesson and booking is easy and laid back. If you walk the beach you’ll see literally hundred’s of ‘surf schools’ non of these compare with Up2U.

I went to 2 different surf schools in Bali and this one was better and cheaper. Even though it was a group lesson, the groups were very small (only 2 other people with me) and the instructor catered to our differing abilities. The included photos were also a nice touch and were emailed to me later the same day.

Really enjoyed my surf lesson with Chip at Up2U surf school. Easy to find as long as you follow the directions provided. Very friendly, a safe is available to store valuables. No shower or changing facilities so get ready before you arrive. The instructor was great fun, super friendly and we were standing up by halfway through the lesson. Surf was consistent and suitable for beginners like me!

I have really been interested in surfing but decided to give it a try with my kids - as they wanted to do it. The Up2U surf team was amazing and so supportive. They were great with my kids. We were all standing by the end of the session and trying to catch a wave unsupported 😀 There are many other schools on the beach and I can't comment on those but this company is exceptional. Just ignore the rickety stairway up to the office 🤣

Great day learning to surf. The staff ensured we were safe at all times. They catered for all levels of surfing abilities. Definitely recommend

Wow 🤩 We have just returned from our first ever surf lesson, we loved everything about this trip ♥️ Positive’s 1) communication was brilliant, we were sent a video to watch before our trip along with all the details we needed. Later in another email we were sent a detailed map of how to find the place which included pictures and landmarks to find. This was a godsend as so many surf schools on Kuta. 2) All staff were welcoming and friendly, whilst keen to help. 3) Rico was our guide and he was amazing and made our visit so much fun, whilst keeping us safe, I have a bad hip so sometimes limited with movement, he was so patient and gave lots of tips and encouragement. 4) Equipment all well looked after and easy to use (with instructions from RICO 5) We were very lucky as only my husband and myself with RICO for the full 2 hours. 6) We received the professional photos before we had left the beach. 7) we actually managed to both stand on our boards and surf at 52 & 49 yrs old and we have photos to proof this ❤️ Negatives THERE ARE NONE!!!! In short book this trip you will not be disappointed 😃😃

Best beginner surfing lesson ever! The price is super low compared to other surfing courses in Viator, yet it didn’t show in any way. Granted, I was lucky to have a 2h lesson with only 1 person besides me. This meant that I practically had a private tutoring. My coach, Adios, was amazing, patient and encouraging. He was really committed to us actually learning the basics properly and getting our first moments of success with the waves. What’s more, a private photographer is included in the price, which to my knowledge is something that a lot of other courses don’t provide. I really can’t recommend this lesson enough! 10/10!

4 of us did a group beginners session today. Absolutely loved it. The whole session was very organised and streamlined. The teachers were so professional and attentive. Their instructions were clear and easy to put into practice. Everyone felt totally safe in their care. Value for money was brilliant. Would highly recommend this to anyone.

My surf teacher Primak was awful. He was just pushing me towards the wave and didn't even check how I went, if I need help or didn't give me any indication of how I should do it get better. Only the number of tourists count, make money fast, no customer satisfaction. I would rather recommend a private surf teacher from the Kuta beach, which they were plenty. Would have been cheaper and I would have enjoyed a private surf lesson. Totally do not recommend!

Paul was very welcoming and ensured we got boards and rashes in a prompt manner. Our instructor was very friendly and was very nice to chat with between waves. I would definitely recommend the experience to a friend

Had an amazing time learning to surf during my two lessons. Photos of my lesson were sent to me afterwards so I could keep those memories. My instructor taught me how to catch my own waves while also assisting me in catching a few. The owner of the company even gave me specific advice on how I could improve based on the photos that were taken! If you have the chance and want to give surfing a fair shot, I would even suggest to sign up for multiple days in a row.

We absolutely LOVED this experience ! We did the 2 hour beginner lesson and had so much fun. The instructor was brilliant and made us feel so safe he was very informative. Really well organised so easy and a quick start. Would recommend this to anyone.

The surf Sam was very good and funny. He taught us surfing very individual and adjusted the training to our personal skills. Even though it was my first time surfing I learned fast:)

We had a great time learning to surf as beginners. The two hours spent at Kuta beach with the two coaches was one of the best experiences myself and my two teenagers have experienced. The coaches are very polite and helpful and gave great trips on how to learn the basics of surfing. Would love to do this again and hopefully progress.

If you've ever thought about learning to surf, this is the perfect place to learn. Even if you're an absolute novice, you'll be standing up and riding waves in no time. The surf school is well organised. They have the right size boards and surf shirts for all sizes of riders, and they provide secure lockers for your valuables. The instructors are friendly, helpful and informative. They really make it fun. They send you a link for pre-reading, which is helpful, and take photo's of you while you to show you where you can improve. It's a great experience and sure to be a highlight of your Bali holiday.

Great experience and very reasonably priced! We had one instructor (Chip) between 3 of us initially. We were taught the basics of surfing and how to use the board on the beach before entering the water but this didn't take up much time. Another instructor came to help me 1-1 when in the sea which was great. Both were very helpful, encouraging and friendly! We chose to purchase our photos for a very reasonable price. They hadn't been sent by the following day but I contacted the surf school and they sent them all across immediately.

We booked for 7 people, the youngest being 13 and the oldest 47. Communication from Paul was excellent from the start. The pre read and information on the website was very professional and interesting. On the day it was one instructor to three learners which was perfect. The lesson price was very competitive and the shop had good showers and boards. The shop photos were really good not too expensive. The best thing were the instructors, so patient and friendly. Even first timers were up surfing. Overall a great experience.

Amazing staff, great English. Stuff was kept in a locker so very safe. Instructors are amazing and so is Paul. Shower included and also some amazing photos for an added 100,000 IDR. Will definitely be going back.

l registered for four group lessons at UP2U Surf School as an absolute beginner in March 2023. I'm so glad now that I chose this school, even though I had to relocate to Kuta for a week. They are experienced and well-organized, and the instructors support each other's students when they can. The small classes are two or three students to an instructor, which is perfect. My instructor, Darwin, was super-positive, which you really, really need when you're learning. I recommend UP2U Surf School 100%.

This was our second lesson with this business. We absolutely loved the first session so decided to go again! This lesson we learnt a bit more and we’re way more confident! Recommend going more than once!

I had an excellent time taking surfing lessons here. I had taken lessons once before about a decade ago, but the service here was way better. My instructor, Prima, was awesome and just an unstoppable machine. For us true beginners he would position us then push our boards at the right time so we could focus on getting up and balancing, rather than having to worry about paddling and wave placement too. They also had a photographer taking pictures you could buy afterward. Highly recommend buying them as normal cell phone cameras from the beach won't get as good of detail. The attached photo is one of the pictures taken by their photographer. Absolutely wonderful time; I highly recommend Up2U Surf School.

Fantastic surf school! I had been surfing a couple of times before and it was the first time for my friend. We both felt very safe and the instructors were very patient and fun at the same time. Loved that there was a short break as well during the session to really get the most out of it! Highly recommend for anyone who wishes to take up some surfing lessons in Bali! We will be back!

Wow! What a fabulous experience! Our coaches were amazing and the whole staff was absolutely wonderful. Everyone there (I want to say there were about 12 of us total), had wonderful things to say about their coaches too! Would absolutely use this surf school while in Bali! They were amazing!!!!

I always wanted to go surfing and I am glad I did it. The instructor was clear and friendly. During the session the owner made pictures and they are great!!

Gede was a fantastic instructor! I was very lucky as there was just me and one other person in the group for the afternoon lesson so it was almost like a 1:1 session. Gede was very patient and gave us both feedback everytime we surfed. He stated in the water with us the entire time and I felt very safe and comfortable knowing that he was around. I was slightly disappointed to hear that no photos or videos had been taken during the lesson. Gede said that it was only the morning session. However, I was asked for my email address when I booked so that videos and photos could be shared and I’ve never surfed before so some evidence, good or bad, would’ve been nice to have. Other than that though, I can’t fault Gede at all. It was a brilliant afternoon!

I needed a refresher lesson having not surfed in about 6 years and came across these guys. To answer the main question, yes I think you should absolutely go ahead and book with them. Paul was helpful with sorting things out and my lesson with Lubis was great. He was extremely positive, patient and encouraging - everything you want in an instructor. He's called "the master guru" by his colleagues for a reason. Unbeatable value in the price and experience, and I would 100% recommend to everyone whilst in Bali.

The surfing lesson was fun, the waves were pretty big on the day of our lesson but we still felt safe and managed to learn how to stand up. Definitely recommend this excursion. We were helped by Darwin and Robert and received good tips from Paul too.

Surfing theory demonstrated was ok. Average surfing lessons from beginners perspective. Staff could have demonstrated surfing techniques in the sea.

Casual night out with the team ⁃ It was on 21st June, coach (Darwin) had already asked us out privately, he suggested to bring us out since he had a grab(as what he mentioned during the conversation with us), he was additional ask if we have any plan after our first lesson in Bali. Yet, we do not give any response to him. Second day morning (22nd June), my friend Tina received the official invite from the coach (Darwin) to ride us around that area, to understand their culture and try their local food with another guy (Darwin mentioned ). ⁃ However, he do not mention it was a team bonding activity, he did only respond to us that there will be one more guy joining us. The suspicious thing was, we don’t know where were we going to, and I even asked my friend Tina, but she was no idea as well. We only received the message saying to bring us out to their local market to try their food and etc. ⁃ Right after that, I was still thinking it totally did not make sense for calling two girls out with only two guys. I feedback to Tina it was dangerous, I don’t go, and Tina replied to me, if she has to go alone, it will be very dangerous as only she alone with two guys. So my point is, it doesn’t make any sense that you reply in the email, it was a team bonding activity with guys, woman, and even siblings. Why in the first place, the coach (Darwin) didn’t mention it to us, and we have this kind of feeling, that if this is a normal and formal activity, he should just mention it and ease our doubt. 2. On 22nd June morning, I already felt unwell, so I was wearing casual clothes instead of putting on the surfing gear. I told Tina that I will want to give up the third and fourth surfing lesson as I really felt unwell. However, Tina and the coach pursued me to go down to the sea. They used about 3 hours plus to pursue me to surf, and he told me that surfing can ease my body ache, it will make my body feel better after surfing. If this is just an encouragement, he will never spend 3 hours plus to encourage me to go down to the surf. I don’t see the logic behind it, please check with the coach before explaining the whole story. Why I mean he was unprofessional! 1. The reason why I said he was unprofessional, because during the surfing lesson, I believe that he already knows my condition, plus the wave was coming toward us. At the moment, he asked one of his colleagues to take over him, and I was still a newbie, I don’t know the board control and my body not very well. The new coach doesn’t know my condition and even my surfing level. I felt that this is very ridiculous. After taking over from the new coach, he asked me am I ready? He straight away pushed me out followed by the wave. I personally felt that it was very dangerous, as my condition not well, it will easily get lost control of that. Head injured 1. When I was injured, he never come to understand the whole incident, as a coach, I suppose the coach has to at least understand and investigate what is going on, But he failed to do that. Instead, he didn’t offer to bring me to the hospital until I ask so. I don’t understand what is the practice there if someone is hurt during the surfing lesson, what is the next move the coach or the person-in-charge should do. I even need to bring out this case myself to get investigate this thing. Last but not least, I would want to say that, all these I mentioned above was the story that happened throughout the entire journey. I was shocked especially when you guys say it was an activity with a bunch of the team members. Please do investigate this matter again, appreciate if you could do so.

Writing my first TripAdvisor review as I couldn’t rave enough about this surf school! Not only were the prices for the lessons dirt cheap, the instructors were fantastic!! They were very attentive, constantly looking out for our techniques and making sure to correct us if we’ve done anything wrongly. Further, the instructors for our group were loads of fun - easy to chat with and cracked jokes every now and then. The biggest bonus came at the end of the lesson, where the staff told us that they would be uploading the photos taken of us (by their in-house photographer) to a Google Drive! The pictures turned out almost pro-like quality, making us look much cooler than we thought we looked. Pros: - Fantastic instructors - Dirt cheap prices - Bonus photos taken of you surfing Cons: - Had to wake up early for this - 6am class, am not a morning person (but no regrets afterwards) TLDR: Absolutely value-for-money surf school. Go here for fantastic instructors and cool pictures.

Our daughter had a great time surfing. The coaches were so helpful and supportive. She was in good hands. There were actually 5 of us going together. Directions were clear, but times for surfing varied. Be sure to talk directly with the guy via What’s App so you can know about the specific times that are best for surfing based on your ability level.

The surf coach "Pang" was quite thorough with the briefing at the start, but he was a little too intense and was quite impatient while he was teaching in the waters. The photographer (can't remember his name), however, was very friendly and he was quite encouraging as well. Lastly, "Paul" wrote a long message stating that in order for us to get the photos (which was promised in the package), we had to write a multi paragraph 5 star review. He deleted the message after 5 minutes of sending, and still sent us the photo nevertheless. Throughout the entire time the message was left unread. Regardless, the coach still managed to teach us to stand on the board and catch some waves!
