I booked online a few weeks before but never got the email for payment so went to the theatre when we arrived. Everything was easily sorted. The theatre is nearby many of the Nusa Dua hotels and the shuttle works well. The show is amazing. We got the VIP seats which are well worth it but with the design of the theatre, any seats would be able to easily see the entire show. Well worth a night out when in Bali.
The show was well put together. The dances were a modified version of the original. They did a great job of showing the cultural dances of all Indonesia, not just Bali. If you are wanting to see the full version of kecak dance this not the show. The Bali kecak is at Uluwatu.
Amazing... best Bali dance show I have seen. Highly recommend.
The Devdan Show is one of the best family-friendly activities and evening things to do in Bali. The performances are exciting, the acrobatics are amazing, and the blend of Indonesian culture with modern theater is unforgettable. A great experience for families, couples, and anyone visiting Bali. Highly recommended!
A must see! Totally amazing 😲
If you're looking for the best things to do in Bali, the Devdan Show is a must-see. It's an amazing indoor performance with stunning acrobatics, cultural dances, and special effects that keep both kids and adults entertained. It's also one of the best activities for the rainy season in Bali since the entire show is indoors. Perfect for families, couples, or anyone wanting a unique cultural experience. Definitely one of the best family-friendly attractions in Bali and a show I'd happily watch again!
The choreography, costumes, sets and performers were all so professional and talented. There was so much going on, I didn’t want to miss a second and the show was over far too soon for my liking.
I found Devdan while searching for things to do in Bali, and honestly I wasn't that excited at first, just trying to add one last attraction before our family flight tomorrow morning, but it turns out being a highlight of our trips and the best attraction during my whole trips in Bali. The first 10 minutes completely won me over. The costumes, music, and performers' energy were incredible, and there were a few moments where the audience genuinely gasped. You can tell a lot of work goes into every part of the production. We were traveling with our kids, and it's not easy finding family-friendly things to do in Bali that adults actually enjoy too. Usually someone ends up bored. That wasn't the case here. Our children loved the action and acrobatics, while we appreciated learning more about Indonesian culture in a way that felt entertaining rather than educational. After a week in Bali, visiting beaches, restaurants, and temples, this was one of the experiences we talked about the most on the flight home. If you're staying around Nusa Dua and looking for something different to do in the evening, I'd definitely recommend giving Devdan Show a try. It was well worth the time and money.
We almost skipped this because we thought it might be too touristy, but I'm so glad we didn't. The show was fun from start to finish and surprisingly emotional in some parts. I didn't know much about Indonesian culture before coming to Bali, so it was interesting to see the different dances, costumes, and traditions presented in such an entertaining way. What stood out to me most was the energy of the performers. Everyone on stage seemed genuinely passionate about what they were doing, and that made a huge difference. The aerial acts got the biggest reactions from the audience, but honestly there wasn't a single boring moment. We were traveling as a family, and it turned out to be one of the most family-friendly things to do in Bali. The kids were completely engaged throughout the show, and the adults enjoyed it just as much. It's not always easy to find an activity that everyone enjoys, but Devdan really delivered. If you're spending a few days in Nusa Dua and looking for something to do at night besides dinner or beach clubs, I'd definitely recommend Devdan Show. It was one of those experiences that we kept talking about afterward.
One of the best indoor attractions in Bali and a fantastic choice for an evening activity. Devdan Show offers an incredible journey through Indonesia's diverse cultures with amazing dance performances, music, and visual effects. We were impressed by the professionalism of the cast and the overall production quality. For anyone planning their Bali itinerary and searching for top things to do in Bali, this show is a must-see also perfect for all members of family in all ages🤩🤩
This was a fantastic show. I stumbled across a review on Facebook and was so pleased I booked it. Amazing dances, acrobatics and story. Theatre is air conditioned so can watch the show in comfort. Highly recommend to anyone going to Bali to book this show.
Enjoyed the show of cultural dance the performers were great. Reasonably priced. Great experience.
Omg I was not expecting this?! It was amazonas I can’t believe it isn’t more well known for people to do this. I think it was up there with the best performances I have ever seen! We were amazed and I highly recommend for everyone to go to this as you will not walk away disappointed!!
World Class Show Stunning Performance
The Devdan Show was an AMAZING escape traveling through time. The dancers were exotic, the water Show was very special, the story line was great and the kids and all the actors perfected this story that made me feel like I was on the journey with them. The venue was air conditioned which was very nice in the Bali heat, the humidity has a way of exhausting us tourists so this was a pleasant touch to be able to watch the show. The performers were all so friendly after the show and offered to take pictures with us. I loved every minute of the evening! Thank you for sharing your story, your talents and your beautiful country to portray the sacred values of the Balinese. Everyone must see this show! 🥰🙏🎭
Was exceptional all the dancers were amazing
I visited show in my birthday It was just wonderful, from the beginning to the end, interesting story, unexpectedly beautiful “locations” and amazing actors, who did their best. My friend was with child, and she was very happy also! In the end the all show did congratulations for me, and I felt like become a child again!
Exceptional and beyond our expectation
Fantastic performen, full with traditional indonesian dance
Fantastic high energic, professional show in a beautiful theatre. Incredible costumes and talented cast.Highly recommended.
This was our favorite thing to do in Nusa Dua- the show was spectacular and entertaining! Our daughter’s face lit up as each performance came on the stage and she was even selected to join in a dance near the end of the show. I’m sure this will be a memory that will last a lifetime.
I really liked the entire experience. Everything really matched and it was nice experiencing the culture of Indonesia. However it could have been better by having a plot.
Excellent show. Must visit in Bali as given glimpse of culture n heritage. One show covers all. Watch out for travel arrangements
The show is spectacular. The performances were great. The hall was clean and very well organised. A must watch.
The show gives a good glimpse of vast Indonesian culture, its different regions and is very well directed / choreographed. This one is worth watching if one wants to know about the vast diversity of Indonesia. We enjoyed the show a lot.
I'll first start with saying that I'm Indonesian, I come from Balikpapan, Borneo and I'm a HUGE fan of theatre! My family isn't big on them, though. But when planning our trip here, I saw this show and read the reviews (which were mostly positive) and asked my parents to buy us tickets for Seat C. We believed it was fairly priced, around $20 in US dollars if I convert it. We ordered the tickets online, and when we arrived at the theatre, we spent around 30 minutes waiting to exchange our tickets since we came early. The staff were super friendly! The ones at the cashier, the ones who guide you inside theatre, they always smile and as a local, I can also asure that they do not have bias and treat everyone, whether local or tourist, equally. When we were kindly escorted inside the theatre, it was pleasantly cold due to the AC, and by this point my heart was racing, since this was my first time going to a theatre when I have been a huge fan of since I was a child. When we sat down, I was admittedly surprised with the architecture of the seats, and the amount of guests. It wasn't too packed, I didn't feel claustrophobic at all! I had also thought the C Seats would be very far from the stage, but it wasn't! I could see the stage clearly, and the picture I attached was taken from my seat, from the second row at the back. So, even if you buy the cheapest tickets, you'll still get a good view of the show. I cannot fully describe how AMAZING the performance was! Words cannot do it justice, I highly, very VERYYY strongly reccomend you see this show! Whether you are a local or new to Indonesian culture! Though, I had originally thought the preformance would be story-packed, turns out the show was intended to make a spectacle out of the big Indonesian islands, with the addition of Balinese culture. There was barely any story, but it isn't a con for me because of how well they present my and other cultures in Indonesia! The writing of the show is endearingly cheesy, it reminds me of old Disney Channel series. It's very clear that the whole mood of the show is intended as one big "Let's all have a good time with culture!" and it excels in that goal! (for those with children, they have a dance that involves the audience, too! Your children would love it :]) Not only does it show the traditional dances and cultures, but they also teach the audience of the meaning and origins of said dances. There are three screens below the stage, showing information about the performance on the stage! As an Indonesian from Borneo, I can also tell you that this show is authentic and accurate to Indonesian culture, with some creative variations and mixing here and there. But they are, at their core, truthful. In total, we spent 2.5 hours in the theatre! An hour for exchanging tickets and then taking pictures with the dances before leaving, and an hour and a half for the show (90 minutes runtime). For the price it offers, and the performance it gives, I'd say it's exrremely worth it! Please give these folks a try, even if you aren't a theatre person!
The best show in bali... all dancers is profesionals talent... excellent... ill go back to watch again!! Love bali and love nusantara culture
Experience was out of the world. All dances were fantastic. We could not take our eyes of the stage even for 30 seconds. Well done team
First of all, the place is nice and the staff was friendly + helpful. The theatre is larga and comfortable. The cast and show was amazing. Good price as well 👍
This was a nice evening out watching a variation of the local fire dance. A lot of these fire dances are outdoors and can get very busy with poor seating . This show is in an air conditioned theatre and as such far more comfortable. The show itself consists of a number of different dances that relate to islands in Indonesia. The costumes are very good as is the dancing, the show lasts about an hour. There are a couple of pricing options for seating , it was not overly busy and we found our view from the cheaper seats was fine
Enjoyable experience! You get to learn about the culture through beautiful performance. I wasn’t pleasantly surprised
It’s fabulous! Love it been to see it now twice one time two years ago. Took my son’s family and two grandchildren . Throughly recommend this show.
Wonderful show filled with colour, music and culture. Loved how it represented all the different regions of Indonesia.
Excellent show thoroughly enjoyed it. Dancers were fantastic and can Highly recommend seeing this. Great acrobatics and a good storyline
Loved this show. Highlights dances from all over Indonesia and a bright, energetic, acrobatic and interpretive manner. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this. Highly recommend this show.
Amazing show and hospitality. They provide free shuttle services to nearby hotels if you book VIP/A/B category tickets. Nice theatre, nice ambience and last but not the least, the one hour show keeps you mesmerized with spectacular performance. One can witness the diverse culture of different Indonesian regions. A must watch.
Great show! Incredible talent on stage. Made our travels to Bali one of the best. We will remember this for years to come. We would highly recommend!
Everything amazing show. All the show was entertaining. And all about indonesia culture show. Will recommend to all my friends.
Loved the music and enjoyed the cultural experience. The story telling with music was amazing. The dancers were amazing!! Costumes were amazing!! Loved that the audience could join the dancing.
Whole show was so professional and breathtaking and will give you goosebumps. Whole show covered the culture of Bali and one should surely visit. Hall was fully AC and Seats were comfortable and showed runs for over 1 hr. Videography is not allowed in most parts of the show. However they allow it in the last 10 minutes.
The Devdan Show was absolutely spectacular! If you want to learn more about Indonesian culture, please don’t miss this show. They beautifully explain everything through high-quality dance performances.
The Whatsapp admin is very unprofessional and irresponsible. Dont trust booking thru Whatsapp, because eventually they can easily switch the seats you were advised to book.
Excellent! A must see. This is not a cheap tourist show. This show is superb entertainment. Excellent choreography. Incredible dancing. A celebration of four main Indonesian cultures with perfect proportion of comic relief. Good for old and young
Absolutely recommended to visit. Amazing show! Cultural, colourful, dynamic! Everything, sounds, lights, decorations, costumes, effects with water and fire, dancers are great! All dancers, acrobatic artists are excellent trained and beautiful, special words to young artists, the boy with fires is very cool. Bravo!
2 Adults from UK Fabulous, we have been to several Cirque du Soleil & the Devdan show was better than some of those & a lot cheaper. Comedy, magic, acrobatics & a good story. There was lots of audience interaction from the performing artists. We paid for good view seats, but really all the seats have a wonderful view. Theatre was only about half full. Return transport was included in the price, picked up from our hotel with excellent communication on time etc. Well organised at collection of tickets on arrival. It was very hot & humid in the theatre, so take a fan ! We would 100% recommend this show.
Best experience!! Would love to come here another time with family. They wrapped the story of indonesian culture in a real professional and fantastic way.
Devdan Show Summary Devdan: Treasure of the Archipelago is a theatrical performance that was first released in 2013 at the Bali Nusa Dua Theatre. The show was directed by stage manager Eka Laksana, who brought the production to life through a stunning blend of traditional Indonesian culture and modern stage performance. The story follows two curious children who, feeling bored during a guided tour in Bali, wander off into the holy mountain. There, they discover a mysterious treasure chest. Upon opening it, they find a collection of unique cultural artifacts, each representing a different island in Indonesia. Bali: Udeng, Sumatra: Songket, Java: Kris, Kalimantan: Dayak Shield, Papua: Koteka As the children interact with these artifacts, they are transported on a magical journey across the Indonesian archipelago, visiting different islands of Indonesia. Each destination reveals a new traditional dance, music, and cultural customs, brought to life with acrobatics, elaborate costumes, and special effects. Performance and Design Critique It was a great performance in terms of the acting. First of all, the most important part of the whole show was the dances, and I think that the actors did a really good job in performing since all of them were perfectly prepared and if the dance involved multiple people, which was 90% of the time, they all acted together as a team. Also, in some dances, like the Sumatra traditional dance, all of the actors needed to be perfectly synchronized and they were doing a great job with that. Also, one important thing that is hard not to notice is the way actors interact with each other. It is natural and believable if it is a boy and a girl talking; you believe that they are actually like close friends. Also, since the whole show is mostly dances, the actors are good at expecting their body language; it is clear what they are doing with the gestures for example, the Bali god could be clearing saw from the back seats. The space on the set is used effectively, and there is a lot that is going on, but as said earlier, because all the actors are acting as a good team, it is nice to look at them and everybody as a whole. I think that the acting/dancing was perfectly fitting in this performance, showcasing all the important aspects of the present islands. Set I, Nyoman Johan Aryana, did a wonderful job while working on the set. What especially stood out was the functionality of the transitions between the decorations. The backstage crew changed the stage with incredible speed—in just a few seconds, the stage was transformed for the next dance. The short moments when the curtain was falling were filled with interesting acrobatic performances by artists posing as monkeys. Their agility and playful energy delighted the audience, creating a lively atmosphere as the scene changed. The performance of the monkeys was particularly impressive; the performers convincingly imitated the movements and behavior of the monkeys, which enhanced the authenticity and charm of their performance. Their interactions were smooth and engaging, adding a little bit of humor that resonated with the audience. The set design is also worthy of reflecting a focus on cultural authenticity. Each scene has been carefully crafted to represent different regions of Indonesia. For example, the traditional market scene from Sumatra Island was richly decorated with props such as carts loaded with fruits, ceramics, and clothes, as well as a traditional house in the background, which emphasized how competently the show approached individual elements. As part of the Kalimantan show, an impressive life-size ship was presented on stage, which attracted attention with its realistic craftsmanship and imposing appearance. The image of Papua was no less expressive, and the local spirit statues and traditional huts created a strong sense of place. The set is designed in such a way that it tries to represent the real culture of The props are designed to be as realistic as possible; also, the colors of the props are well chosen For example, the market props, like the carts, are designed to be bright to represent that the market is a place where there is a vibrant place of continuous activity and energy." On the other hand, the traditional huts were designed with darker tone colors, representing that it is a normal/everyday life home to some people in Papua. Also, apart from well-designed props, there are interesting special effects created by Achemad Choerodin; for example, during the fire and the Kecak dances, there were flames of fire that came through the holes in the stage, which added to the understanding of the dance's purpose Also, during the rain dance, drops of rain were sped up to show off a real rain. Also, on the stage, there is a water pond, which was used during the water dance. But as we know, "Every rose has its thorn," and this set is not an exception even though the problems are well designed The back screen that was projecting some places, like the Split Gate, Chandi Bentar from Bali, was not bright enough and even then, all the lights were off. It was hard to see what was projected on it because it was also a really important part of the set. Lightning Lighting is also a really good part of this show since the colors and the brightness were adjusted per certain dances while the rain dance was going on; the lighting and the back screen were bluish colors representing the color of water, and during the fire show there were red, orange, and yellow lights present also for the same reason. During the part of the show where there should be a focus on specific characters, like in the fighting scene in the market, the lighting only highlights the characters that fight and not all other characters. Also, then Arian was performing a solo dance; only he was highlighted, not the entire stage, which highlights the importance of this character at the moment. This work was done by Bastian Nurzaman. There is only one small thing: sometimes the lighting is not bright enough, and you will not be able to see some part of the set, but it is just a little, and it doesn’t affect the performance that much. Costumes Costumes in this play are really important since they need to convey the culture of the island and represent it. Costumes represent each of the characters effectively; for example, the boy and a girl, the main characters, are dressed as ordinary people. They don’t have anything that would make you think they are special, so this gives the audience an understanding that all of this happens in the real world, and the dances that are shown represent Indonesian culture. Also, the tourist group is dressed regularly without anything extraordinary. On the other hand, the guide has a lot of makeup on his face because he thought the stooge played the role of a “comedian,” and this makeup helped represent that. The costumes of the characters are designed in a way that the actor can change it in a matter of 30 seconds, which is helpful because there are not a lot of people performing, so people play more than just one role, so it is important that they can change fast. Also, the good thing about the costumes is that they are designed specifically so actors can move easily because they need to perform dances and acrobatic movements. Therefore, it is required that the costume be flexible, and I, Dewa Ayu Ngurah Adnyani, did pay attention to that. All the costumes suit the place; there are traditional Balinese dresses, Javanese, etc. Also, they are well-made and detailed; it is appealing to look at. The costumes match the characters' roles like the gods having bigger and brighter costumes than normal people to represent their importance. Some costumes are minimalistic, like the warriors; they only have simple dresses, just a tissue covering the body. This gave the audience an understanding of the people who are higher on the social hierarchy and those who are lower on the social hierarchy. Worth seeing? Overall, the play was great, and I personally really enjoyed watching it I was not expecting this show to take such a deep dive into Indonesian culture; I learned something new about Indonesian culture. Also, it was not only interesting but also entertaining; for example, the fire dance was great, and I liked it Sometimes the show was even funny, like the monkeys, and the tourist scene was hilarious and fun to watch. Also, what I enjoyed about this show is the boy and a girl act as a connection between the audience and the different cultures of the island, which was a great decision for the director. All the parts of the show—the acting, the direction, and the design—worked perfectly to create a great performance. I honestly recommend watching this show for everybody Even kids would enjoy it because there’s so much movement and energy that it keeps you engaged the entire time. Plus, those monkeys are guaranteed to make you laugh! Going to this play is such a great way to spend an evening. And trust me, even if you think it’s not your thing because you’re not particularly interested in Indonesian culture, you’ll still love it. It’s that good. You might even walk away with a newfound appreciation for the culture, just like I did.
One of the best shows I've ever seen. A cool concept when artists take turns talking about the regions of Indonesia. A bunch of dances, outfits, music, interactive with the audience and incredible acrobatic tricks. Don't even think about it, take the tickets. You will remember it for sure
The Devdan show was spectacular mixing Indonesian cultural dances with Aireal performances.I was seated in the second row and had a grey view of all the action. It is great value for money. At the end outside the theatre you can have a quick free photo opportunity with the cast. What more could you ask for?
