We had such an amazing experience with our tour guide, Gusti Dwi in Bali! He was super friendly, funny, and made the entire day so much more enjoyable. He showed us so many beautiful and interesting places, including the famous Heaven’s Gate and local villages. We really appreciated getting to see not only the popular tourist spots but also parts of Bali that gave us a better look at the local culture and everyday life. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting information along the way. He also had such a great sense of humor, which kept us laughing and made the long day feel easy and fun. He was patient, helpful, and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves throughout the entire trip. We’re very grateful for all the effort he put into making our Bali experience special. If you’re visiting Bali and looking for a fun, friendly, and knowledgeable guide, we would definitely recommend him!

Itinerary
While avid hikers will love the blend of mountains and cultural excursions that Bali's eastern region has to offer, those unwilling to take on the ascent up to the peak at Lempuyang Temple can still enjoy the splendid views at the grand Pura Penataran Agung temple at the foot of the mountain. The first to come into view on the pilgrimage, this temple offers an impressive sight with its towering dragon staircases – perfect for photos. The best views are higher up the stairs, where you can see all the way across the green forested slopes and neighboring Mount Agung, Bali's highest peak and abode of Besakih Temple. There are many motorcycle taxis operated by local villagers that can take you up where the asphalt ends at the Penataran Agung for a negotiable fee. They are convenient for those who wish to start their climb quicker, shortening the time on foot from the parking area.
The gardens of Tirta Gangga Water Palace show a unique mix of Balinese and Chinese architecture. The grounds of the water garden (ca 1.2 ha.) consists of three separate complexes each with ponds and many sculptures. The complex on the lowest level has two large ponds and a water tower. At the second complex (middle level) of the Bali water palace are the swimming pools. The third level houses the main complex with the country home of the former Raja. Nowadays one can find a restaurant and four bungalow units in this former country home of Raja A.A. Anglurah Ketut Karangasem. Building water gardens, including the designing and the labor work, was a favorite hobby of the Raja. As many of his visitors did not expect this, of course they were surprised to find the Raja himself working among his laborers, standing knee deep in mud digging out the earth.
Taman Ujung Sukasada complex has a combination of Balinese and European architecture throughout three large ponds connected by long elegant bridges and pathways. The physical features and superb mountainous backdrop to its north, and sea to its southwest, make it a favorite location for pre-wedding and artistic photographers. The name Ujung means extremity in Indonesian and it often makes it easy for locals to describe its location as being one of the island largest historical landmarks and places of interest in the easternmost part of the island.
Lay down and relax in a sundeck with a hat and sunglasses accompanied by fresh young coconut water in a silence, listen into just the sound of the waves. You can get it all at Virgin Beach. This location is rarely visited by tourists and lesser explored by local tourist. Actually, Virgin Beach has several names. Foreign tourists usually call it as Virgin Beach because the beach is far from the crowds and still natural. While other foreign tourists call this beach as White Sand Beach because only this beach around Karangasem city has white sand. Although the actual color of the beach sand is not whiter than Padang Padang Beach or Pandawa Beach. The white sand on this beach depends on the volcanic content of Mount Agung. Yes, Virgin Beach is only about 33 km from Mount Agung. If you drive, it will take around one and a half hours to get here.
Tenganan Village is charming and has some very fascinating authentic traditional festival (ritual dances and gladiator) like Bali Aga of Tenganan often holds the battle between local youths. The people of Tenganan are skilled in the unique technique of weaving, called the double ikat, where the belief in the magical power of the fabric is essential in bringing out the beauty of the ikat cloth. There are some versions of story telling us the history of Tenganan Village, some say that the word Tenganan was derived from the word tengah or ngatengahang which means move to the inner area. This derivation of word was having a relation with the movement of the villagers from the seaside to a rural area, in which the position of this village is in the middle of hills, which are western hill (Kauh Hill) and eastern hill (Kangin Hill).

very professional and excellent customer service
East Bali tour with our amazing driver Gita. - very knowledgeable about Bali and its history - everything was spot on and he’s a very kind man and such a good driver too - would definitely recommend him 🙏😊
Excellent tour ticking off the most brilliant attractions, our driver was excellent, very accommodating.
Nyoman was an excellent guide. He made sure we were comfortable and the car was air conditioned, clean and comfortable. The gates of Heaven were wonderful but everywhere we went was very beautiful and interesting too. Lunch was plentiful and delicious. Highly recommended!
Lots of stops and walking. Very good tour guide and driver. You’ll look back and think if the fun you had at Bali.
I had an absolutely amazing time during the Gate of Heaven tour. My tour driver was Dwi. He did a wonderful job explaining the history of the places we visited and he also helped me take lots of great pictures. The Gate of Heaven temple itself is simply breathtaking and is definitely a highlight of the tour. The only thing I would recommend is that you take an umbrella or a rain coat since it rained a lot at the location. Dwi helped me with this so I was very grateful. The water gardens at Tirta Gangga were especially beautiful with the ancient statues and koi fish ponds. Lastly, I was very impressed with the tour lunch at the De Louise restaurant. The food was top notch and the Indonesian chicken curry was incredible.
We have an excellent time with Nyoman ! Very nice person , very honest and respectful !!! All the places were absolutely magical ! Thank you for everything Nyoman ! We fall in love with Bali ♥️and its people
The places we visited are amazing, but having Yuda as our tour guide made the experience even more meaningful. His kindness and professionalism adds up to the trip.
Very well organized itinerary. The water palace is stunning, do not miss it one of the best things in Bali. Lovely remote village too and Virgin beach is great, so wilde with crystal water.
Highly recommend this tour! Great guide/driver in Dwi! Dwi was very flexible with our time and even went way out of the way to drop us off at our faraway hotel.
Great tour with our guide/ driver Dwi! He was very helpful answering all of our questions and showing us some of the most beautiful sights in Bali! We were also very grateful that he went out of his way to drive us to our second hotel in very heavy traffic. Thank you, Dwi! Highly recommend this tour and guide.
A long day, we underestimated how long it would take to get to East Bali. We waited 3 hours for our picture at the Gates of Heaven so we missed a couple of the planned stops but we had a great day - no regrets. Wayan was an accomdating guide, took us to a lovely restaurant with fresh vegetarian options and was our driver and guide for over 12 hours. We saw gates of heaven, traditional village and had plenty of time at Tirta Ganga. Thanks viator another great trip and thanks Wayan.
Our tour guide and driver, Nyoman, was exceptional. He picked us up from our hotel in a very clean vehicle, introduced himself, and reviewed the itinerary for the day. We felt very safe with Nyoman as he maneuvered through the traffic to our various destinations. Bottles of water were already in the side pouches of the door. He always ensured that we were safe by opening and closing the vehicle doors. He answered any questions we had about the places we visited. He also took photos of us in every place, which we really wanted because those are our memories. We had a wonderful day with Nyoman!!!
Amazing day spent with Hari, our driver, versed on everything local and truly the best man in Bali. What an unforgettable day.
Aditya was an amazing guide and made my first day in Bali a great one! He was punctual (even early!) for the pick up, drove safely and even let me add on an extra stop at a coffee plantation. He gave good insight into the sights we saw and recommended a place for lunch. I was solo for this trip and felt completely at ease with Aditya! 🙂
The Gates of Heaven are nice but the water temples that come after were even more impressive to me. Would recommend this trip or something similar that includes those other temples! The Gates of Heaven are rather far from most hotel areas and even if you leave at 5am you'll wait several hours in the photo taking queue. The water temples have loads of fish you can feed and take pictures with. Fish food is easy to buy next to the entrance. The last part of the trip was a traditional village with their own special guide to tell you about their traditions and old way of life.
I had a great experience with my driver. He was thoughtful and courteous (it was raining that day and he had an umbrella and poncho for me). He drove with care and offered me some insight to the Balinese culture along the way. I was able to customize the second 1/2 of my trip to spend more time at a beach and he was happy to accommodate and get me all set up. He even helped me order authentic cuisine at a restaurant. A note about the Gates of Heaven - it was beautiful and some of the best photos I've ever taken in my life and I cherish them. BUT be prepared to wait for a few HOURS. My driver got me there around 6:30-7am and we were 50 in line, each number takes at least 2-5 min (although they do keep it moving). If you do not show up right when it opens or when tickets are available, you will wait HOURS so really judge your time to see if its worth it. Now, the view is very pretty, there are some places to sit and a little store that sells snacks but I would definitely bring a book or a screen to keep you entertained for a while. Additionally, up the hill from the Gates is another picturesque place that has the Bali swing, a heart, and other places to take photos.
