You are going to spend a generous time here. As the name suggests, it is a small forest with a Hindu temple located on Jalan Monkey Forest. The temple walls surround the area, making the forest sacred. The Monkey Forest is actually a natural reserve for the monkeys. The place is a great example of how nature and humans can live together in harmony. The monkeys are the main appeal because they are free to roam around. Some temple festivals are often held here – yes, with the monkeys present and around. Joining a tour is the best way to get to the place, especially if you are staying in far-away places. But if you are staying in Ubud, you can always reach the forest easily.
It is basically a popular temple complex that isn’t far from Ubud. The temple is said to be built in the 9th century and it is surrounded by lush greeneries of nature. One of the many reasons why you should come to the temple is the architecture, which combines both architectural style of Buddhism and Hinduism. You can see the example right away from the main entrance that resembles a demon’s open mouth. You can also see the bathing pools with their own unique designs and construction. Feel free to roam around the temple too. But whatever you do, be respectful. After all, it is a sacred place.
You probably have seen these beautiful green hills with the line of layered terraces on their sides. Well, it’s the famous Tegalalang Rice Terrace – a popular place to take pictures or as your Instagram background. The rice terrace is super well-maintained and explored. If you see the view from afar, the rice terrace looks like this green and big layered cake. On the contrary to what you believe, finding the rice terrace isn’t exactly easy, especially if this is your first time coming to Ubud. But if you are coming to the place, do it in the morning or late in the afternoon – just don’t go at midday. It is going to be super hot and it can be uncomfortable. But even if you don’t have a long time to spare, a quick visit would be enough to take some shots and photos.
It is one of the many popular waterfalls in the island. Because of its popularity, expect the place to be well-maintained. Even when you go down the stairs, they are pretty safe. Not only you can enjoy the waterfall, but you can also take a relaxed dip. Taking pictures is possible. You can even make use of some services where you can take pictures with accessories. On your way to reach the Tegenungan Waterfall, you may see another smaller waterfall. You can also take pictures here before continuing your way to the waterfall. It may seem like a far travel from the parking lot, but it is worth the efforts.
If you go there, it would seem like visiting a somewhat chaotic hippie village and yet in an organized way. This is your go-to place to buy souvenirs and art stuff. If you are into woven bags, silk scarves, or handmade baskets, this is the right place to do so. These items are handmade and they are from the local Balinese neighboring areas – you can bet that you won’t be able to find those items elsewhere.
Visit Pura Puseh Batuan, a beautiful and historic Balinese Hindu temple known for its traditional stone carvings, ancient architecture, and peaceful atmosphere. Travelers can explore the temple courtyard, admire detailed Balinese ornaments, and experience the authentic spiritual and cultural heritage of Bali.

Not due to our tour, we did feel a bit rushed through the monkey forest by the forest guide. We had an amazing experience of visiting the Ubud attractions during our tour. Our tour guide Johny was fantastic! He took lot of effort to take us to the best spots. He was also very enthusiast to take photos of us when we requested him to. The monkey forest was fun experience and the rice terraces and Saraswati temple were beautiful. Although our tour was about 10 hours long, Johny was very accommodating and we enjoyed the whole day being a tourist in Ubud. I would highly recommend Johny as a tour guide.
I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to the Monkey Forest and the Rice Terrance today. Bawa was my driver and he did an amazing job guiding me through the tour. The rice fields were so beautiful and serene like something straight out of a movie. They even had a huge swing where you can take beautiful photos with the rice fields in the back drop. The weather there was a bit hot though so I was happy to see they had several bathrooms to freshen yourself up. The Monkey Forest was also definitely a big highlight of the tour. The monkeys were super playful and have quite the personality. I learned a lot about their species from the tour and took lots of pictures. Highly Recommend!

enjoyable trip. The traffic jam was terrible. Not sure if the traffic of entire island is having problem, or it may be too expensive to use the highway. Due to the traffic, something is removed from the schedule. But some items were added. I would prefer sticking to the schedule and finishing on time.

I did this tour with friends, and it was such an awesome experience! Yogik was our guide and he was so genuine, knowledgeable and kind. Pretty complete day! The Merry man was an engaging guide and companion, and his son Sopian' (sp?) drove flawlessly. The rice terrace was a very impressive surprise, having never seen one as such. the Temples were interesting, The Monkey Park was fascinating and the setting so beautiful, I'd come back just to lounge around in the park! And then just relaxing in the water underneath the waterfall topped it off! It was a great day!
Amazing tour experience! The rice terrace is breathtaking I highly recommend. So many instagram worthy places. The zip line and swing are not to be missed. Mr. Merry was the best tour guide in town! So friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Always with a smile and made us feel at home here in Bali. His car is clean, AC works lovely, and he offered us wifi and mineral water. If going on this tour be sure to request Mr. Merry as a tour guide, he will keep you entertained for hours 😃.

Good tour, with Excellent Driver Tude. Tude was a patient and careful driver, through the usual traffic jams & chaos going to and getting back from ,Ubud. He was well-informed and did well to convey useful information on Bali & the spots we visited. Based on experience with other guides in Bali, we'd rate him 8-9 out of 10, with the average being around 4-5 out of 10. The tour itself was excellent - but the Bali Rice Terraces were a joke, given they were purely around a wanly-located, Tourist Set-up, Single Valley with Instagram in mind, and not in any way representative of real agricultural vistas, which can be seen in other locations around rural Bali. Enjoyed the side trips to Wood-carving workshops/ showrooms, Silver-smithing & jewellery Showrooms, and Coffee Production business. Monkey Forest is now well laid out, with many dozens of attendants on hand for security / safety from the monkeys, including helping tourists with photos with the monkeys. The Elephant Cave Temple was a standout cultural site. Overall, the tour is good value for money, with all entrance fees paid, and again - an excellent guide in Tude.

This was our third day with our excellent driver Novi. It is a very good trip were you can choice by your self what you would like too see. Novi gave us tips and also showed us during the way where too stop. Today we stopped at Tukad Cepung, Blue lagoon and Goa Lawa.
Our driver was Tude and he was great! Clean car and bottled water available. Tude was patient with our requests to stop and exchange money or add extra stops that were not in our itinerary. Tude also answered our multiple questions we asked throughout the day and told us information about each stop when we were there. We recommend this tour!!
Our tour guide John was amazing! He was punctual, professional and very friendly. we saw all of the things we wanted to and skipped what we were less interested in so that we could spend more time at the waterfall. we were taken to really nice spot for lunch. Entry fees and lunch were not included in the price. It was totally worth it and thanks to John, it was as smooth and fun as it could be!

We booked Rukmana after having an excellent snorkelling trip already 2 days ago. We communicated through whatsapp and phone with him and planned our trip together. He had good english skills and was very helpful with planning the trip. He is a safe driver and would even do detours when we needed it. We were very happy cause we were able to see everything that we had on our list with enough time on each spot. He even provided us an umbrella cuase it was a rainy day. Highly recommend his service!3

The rice fields are so beautiful, you can walk through them and have a snack or a drink. The waterfall is lovely to take a dip, only for people with a hendicap I would view it from above it is quite a few stairs down. But it remains beautiful also at a distance.
