This review is not for the Bali Cooking Class portion as I opted not to participate given how I was feeling on the day. My guide, Putu, was incredibly accommodating and instead took me to various locations in the Ubud area that were not in the original plan: Yan Yan Silver, Dewa Putu Toris Gallery, Batuan Temple, Cantik Coffee Plantation, and then we made our way to the Sacred Monkey Forest! What an incredibly fun and interesting day that Putu designed mostly on-the-fly! Putu is kind, super knowledgeable and happy to share information about Balinese history and culture. He's also happy to take pictures! I had such a great time that I booked Online Bali Driver and Putu to take me up to north Bali a few weeks later. Putu drove me the four hours from Denpasar to Buleleng Regency. He even came to pick me up and take me back to Denpasar. During our road trip, Putu kept me informed about the beautiful sites I was seeing. He made stops at places of interest without me having to ask. He made sure that I was comfortable and happy throughout our journeys. Top class! If you book with Online Bali Driver, be sure to request Putu! Thank you, Putu!!!

An amazing experience! My guide was very kind and hospitable, answering every question I had. The cooking class was great, and they even give you a cookbook at the end so you can remake the dishes at home. A great way to explore Ubud and learn more about the culture (and eat amazing food!).
We had such a great day. Our driver Putu was awesome and made us feel welcome right from the start all the way to the end. He was very knowledgeable answering questions too. The cooking class was fun and we made some delicious dishes. The rice terraces were beautiful and the monkey forest was so much fun.

I had a wonderful experience with this cooking class and Ubud tour. My driver/guide Wayan Sugama picked me up from the lobby of my accommodation and transported me to the local market. The market tour was informative and learned more about Bali gastronomy and offerings. We were transported to the cooking class where our tour group and I made freshly prepared local Balinese meals. Food was served buffet style and all of the food was delicious. Afterwards Wayan Sugama took me to the rice terraces, coffee plantation and Sacred Monkey Forest. Everything was incredible and was a great way to get to know Ubud and immerse yourself into Balinese culture.
This tour was even better than we expected. Fun guided food preparation. And the end result was delicious. It was probably the best food we had in Bali. Our driver Darma was very accommodating and always punctual. He even made changes to our trip per our request after discussing it with management. Thanks Darma for a great day in Bali.
The entire experience was a real pleasure. Our guide (Wayan) did an excellent job taking us to the cooking class, the rice terrace field and the Ubud monkey forest. The actual cooking class was special. First, taking us to and explaining the various ingredients that were to be used during the class. The class was very hands on as we prepped and cooked the entire meal. In the traditional Balinese manner. The rice terrace, followed by the monkey forest visit topped off an exciting day. I highly recommend this experience.
a wonderful experience, thanks to Darma for being kind and helpful throughout the tour. the best driver and guide in all of ubud
As a travel business owner, it is important to have prompt service, authentic and engaging experiences, and overall good vibes! I hosted 2 groups in Bali in the last 3 weeks and used this company twice for their cooking class + Ubud tour. AND I WILL DO IT AGAIN NEXT YEAR!
From the start to the end, it was a wonderful experience. They send a driver and we gathered in front of the local market. I've seen lots of ingredients with some explanations. While we were cooking, they let all of us follow the steps under full understanding. It was a great experience✨
What an amazing day! My family and I had a fabulous day being driven around by our fantastic driver Wayan, he was full of information and happy to answer my hundreds of questions. The cooking class was absolutely wonderful and in the middle of rice paddies, it couldn’t have been more perfect! The monkey forest was so much fun and to have Wayan walk us around and look after us was so great. The rice terrace was an absolute dream, it’s such an unbelievably beautiful place and thanks to our driver we have some gorgeous photos. I would highly recommend this tour and our driver.
The trip was amazing from start to finish.,our personal driver Wayan was very decent, and very patient . He took us to our cooking class , to a local market , to see the rice fields and to the monkey forest. He even took us to an additional spot to visit the poo coffee shop . This place was not included in our agenda. I can highly recommend Wayan to your next trip in Bali. Thank you very much Wayan for making our trip to ubud a memorable one .
Toni was an amazing driver and tour guide. He was on time and it was easy to communicate with him. Everything went smoothly and we felt safe with him. We were also able to book with him directly which gave us a chance to see and experience more of Bali. Toni also had very good recommendations and was very helpful. Anytime we had questions, he would try his best to answer. I would recommend Toni as your driver.
What a wonderful tour! Cooking class was a highlight- small, well organised and friendly. We prepared so much food and so lunch was a highlight too! Excellent fresh ingredients and clean facilities with wonderful instructors. Great value for money with 2 more stops before returning home. Rice paddy fields were a wonderful opportunity for photos and along with a lesson on rice farming from our wonderful driver Darma, it made for a great inclusion to the day.
Amazing experience with an incredible driver Wayan. Cannot recommend the cooking class and our driver enough! If you’re looking for something different to do in Bali, this is it!
This tour was amazing! The cooking class was insightful and the food was delicious. The rice terrace was beautiful and the monkey Forrest so much fun! We had the best time through this whole tour 🐒🌾🧑🍳 Our driver Toni was a legend - he arrived early so we never had to wait for him, knew all the best spots and took so many photos for us and his English was really good. We really enjoyed having him as our driver. Just a heads up there is a lot of walking and standing in this tour make sure you wear comfy shoes 😉 100% would recommend this tour and Toni to everyone!
Toni our driver was a great guy. He made sure we got the most out of our day. He was a careful driver, his car was immaculate and the air conditioning was welcomed. The cooking class was excellent and we made a variety of dishes.
Had Nyoman as our driver. Absolute gem! We join the cooking class in the morning and had tour around ubud. Nyoman was always there to take photos and videos for you. He always anticipate all you need and deliver 5 stars service. First class for NYOMAN....
The cookings class was fun and informative. I liked the start with a tour of the local market and the food was delicious. My driver Darma was kind and friendly. He ensured I had a wonderful experience at the monkey forest and doubled as a photographer. Highly recommend. It was a great day.
Highly recommend this tour. The location of the cooking was beautiful and we made a lot of dishes. After the cooking our driver Toni also showed us a coffee plantage, the rice terrace and the monkey forest. He took pictures of us and showed us the best spots. After the tour he even drove us to our next destination with our luggage. We had a great time!
This cooking class was a lot of fun. Tutu our cooking instructor was very knowledgeable and funny. Our driver Toni from Online Bali Tours was great and provided very good commentary and information throughout the day. I would highly recommend booking tours through them. Krisna the owner organised everything perfectly and was very easy to communicate with.
Staff were friendly and cooking class was appropriate for beginners. Short tour around Ubud was nice too!
Great day out with a full package experience. First we were picked up by our guide Tony who was super helpful all day, providing a lot of info about the culture and the crafts of the villages we drove through. The cooking class in Ubud was very interesting. Its a well run class with lots of people moving things around whilst you work so that you are never not doing something. We made about 8 different dishes from scratch and received a recipe book to take home after. The food was very delicious and easy to make. The rice field trip afterwards was alright. Not as amazing as in some pictures due to it being right after harvest time, so alot of the green rice had been chopped down and it was a bit empty and brown instead. There are some good spots for photos and some activities like swings for those interested. The Monkey Forest was the highlight of the day for us, a great experience walking around the forest and seeing the monkeys. Tony also helped us get some cool photos with the monkeys and around the temple areas. Be careful though, as the monkeys can be difficult. There were cases whilst we were there of monkeys grabbing sunglasses, or trying to grab bags as people walked passed. Just keep that stuff in your bag and dont panic if a monkey comes near you.
We had a great experience cooking with a Balinese local family. Following with rice terrace and monkey forest. The guide was very nice - professional, good English, punctual and happy to accommodate all your requests. Nyoman is also making great pictures, the one with monkey is a hammer! Thank you very much Nyoman!
Very interesting day with market, cooking, rice terrace, monkey forest. All in all a very good day with a friendly and motivated driver and guide 👍👍👍
RIKO, our driver and guide, is a really nice person and guide! You can talk with him a lot and enjoy the trip to the cooking class. The cooking class with MADE is also worth it. You visit first a local traditional market and learn and see about local ingredients and locals doing there daily live in the morning. During cooking class Made is flexible to consider allergies or preferation like only vegetarian etc. We made a variety of main dishes like sate, curry, grilled fish and tofu in banana leafes and also a soup and dessert and salad. It was great and a rich menu! After that RIKO showed us nice places around Ubud and Tegelalang, like monkey forest, rice terrace. He explained a lot. He was also really kind when he suggested options we may want to use e.g. To have a better view or to see some additional places. If there were additional cost like entrance fee etc. he told us before so that we are not like shocked in the end. And if there were additional costs they were reasonable like buying 1 or 2 juice to have a better view to a rice terrace from a Restaurant which was also nice place to relax there. With him you have an honest and really nice person and guide. He also filmed us during whole day everything what we did and send us all the videos and picture and also made a 1,5 min edited Video for us. Just one day after he send us the edited video and it is a nice way to enjoy during the trip and have someone collecting the moments and making you a video for remembering the enjoyfull day.
Me and my husband had the most amazing day guided by Toni! The traditional market was so colourful & loved seeing the locals, the cooking class was amazing - so much variety in dishes each carefully explained and guided with a delicious feast & recipes to take home! Continued with a stunning trip to rice terrace & monkey forest where Toni was amazing helping us take the best photos for memories. Highly reccommend this tour
Amazing and insightful cooking class - all went perfectly. Madi was an excellent host. Interesting to be shown round a Balinese market. Toni the driver was amazing all day, gave great information throughout and stopped to show us true balinese coffee, acted as a superb photographer as well!
Wonderful experienced friendly and caring driver Toni looked after us exceptionally well. We got picked up on time, Toni constantly communicated with us and make sure we have everything we wanted. Lots of praise for him and the cooking school, I didn’t believe how much we cooked and it all tasted great. Credit to the chefs (us) recommend this tour to anybody staying in Ubud, it also covered the fresh food market, Rice Terraces, swing over the rice fields and the monkey forest. Everything was very enjoyable and we had a great day. p.s. Toni is a good photographer too 🤩
We had such a lovely experience on Thursday 27th of feb! We were picked up by an on time driver (which is not very common) who communicated our pickup time the night before (on whatsapp), and taken to ubud. His name was Darma (more about him (later) We met up with the cooking class group and went through a food market, learning about different foods and what they were used for. The our driver took us to the actually cooking class location. It was in an outdoor kitchen in a flat rice field! We started with learning how to make the offering boxes and how to fill them with flowers, which is a daily ritual in Bali. The organisation and execution of the class is one to be proud of! Never once was anyone confused or waiting. One task complete and next one began. Everyone got a go at everything, we all worked together And no cleaning dishes (thank goodness ahaha). Then we got to all sit together an have a lovely meal of the food we just made (with a free bottle of cold water)!!! It was delicious and even more special, we made it ourselves! Next the cooking class ended but our fun was not over. Our driver Darma, took us to the tegallalang rice terrace and showed us around. He dropped us out the front, paid entry and then went and parked the car. Darma allowed us to stay as long as we wanted (which to be honest was just long enough to go from one end to the next because it was very hot!). Darma then moved us into shade, bought as both cold bottled water and then went and got the car. Next stop was the monkey Forrest. Darma again bought our entry and parked the car. When he caught up with us he was explaining the monkeys. It was super helpful because a lot of the time you don’t understand the dynamics of the forest. He also visits the forest a lot so the monkeys are comfortable with him. The monkeys are too cute and it’s definitely worth a visit. We then went home and Darma had a lovely conversation on the way home! Again I couldn’t stress enough how much we appreciate our driver and that he should get more work! Thanks again Darma!
As first time visitors to Bali travelling with our teenage children, we chose this tour after reading other Trip Advisor reviews and it did not disappoint in any way. Our wonderful guide Putu was courteous, friendly and professional in every way. He shared a wealth of information about Balinese life and culture as well as Ubud itself and went above and beyond making this a real highlight of our time in Bali. Highly recommended. Our cooking class also made this a 'highlight experience' - so much fun to do as a family, delicious Balinese food to enjoy and a fantastic way to experience something of Balinese culture. Our cooking teacher and her team were wonderful - friendly, welcoming, super organised and knowledgeable about Balinese tradition and cuisine.
Big thank for toni ,, he is my best Guide that I ever had ,, he was so friendly and very helpful,, I love Bali I will come back to bali that is for sure ,, Thanks to online bali driver ,, For u guys who want to visit, I recommend u online bali driver best ever
We absolutely loved our tour and day spent in Ubud! Despite staying for two nights, we only had one full day to explore Ubud and we wanted to maximize our experience. We booked this tour because it had many of the things that we heard were “must-do” in Ubud. It did not disappoint! Darma was our driver and he went above and beyond the whole day in making our trip memorable. He was communicative the day before our tour, punctual in picking us up at our hotel early in the morning, had cold water waiting for us, and a gem to drive around with. He shared so many tidbits of information we wouldn’t have learned unless we were with a local. He took us to the traditional market to meet up with the rest of the cooking class participants. The guide led us through the market and explained some of the ingredients we will be using for cooking - it was informative. We then got driven to the cooking class which was held in a beautiful outdoor kitchen/terrace location. It was a very hands-on experience and incredibly interactive! It ended with a delicious buffet that left all of our bellies full. Next, we headed to the rice terrace where Darma took us around and acted as our personal photographer! We got so many wonderful photos with that incredible backdrop. We then went to a bonus location on the tour - a nearby coffee plantation where we learned about local coffee, the Luwak, and got to try samplers of coffee/tea for free! After that, we headed to the monkey forest. Both my husband and I were a bit nervous about the monkeys beforehand but Darma made us feel so comfortable! Again, he took us around the forest, showing us the different groups of monkeys, and explaining a lot of nuance to us. He again acted as our photographer and made sure that we were taking photos that were both memorable and respectful to the monkeys. It was sweet to see him have a personal relationship with Nelson, the blind monkey at the sanctuary. You can really tell that he wasn’t just a driver but deeply invested in Ubud and showing us the best part of the city. Lastly, we had mentioned to Darma that we wanted to buy some souvenirs for friends and family back home. Instead of dropping us off at the hotel, he took us to an additional stop to the Ubud outdoor market where he waited for us while we shopped for over an hour! Throughout the whole day, he was friendly, considerate and knowledgeable. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide to show us around! Would DEFINITELY recommend!!
Yesterday i did this tour, and i had a really nice time. I got picked up at the homestay where i was by a driver named Toni, who was a really nice and polite guy. He showed me around Ubud and brought me to al the places i needed to be and then alao picked me up again. The cooking class was great as well, the people where very nice and everything was super organized. I would definetly recomend this day to other people.
I did the day in ubud with cooking class, monkey temple and rice terrace. The day ran so smoothly and it was thanks to my awesome, genuine driver and guide Puta. He was so kind and considerate and ensured everything ran well. I didn't feel like he was trying to sell me anything more which can be the case at times with tour guides. His knowledge of his country was profound and he took a strong interest in his culture which I liked. thank you Puta!
We loved our day learning about Balinese cuisine, the market was an experience ... the cooking school was fantastic including eating the lunch that we had prepared. Whether you have cooking skills or not it didn't matter.
We just returned from a lovely day out with Dharma, who chaperoned us all over the Ubud area and who took excellent care of us. I loved walking around the market in the morning with a local guide, who educated us about the different fruits, vegetables, and sweets, and helped us pick out some things to take home. The cooking class was so much better than I expected—well-organized, complex yet approachable, and completely interactive. We put together somewhere between eight to ten dishes while learning about Balinese ingredients and cooking techniques, and then ate in a lovely outdoor setting in a rice paddy. Between a dozen western tourists, we managed to turn out a delicious and impressive meal. After lunch, Dharma drove us to the famous paddies cut into a hill and then walked us through the Monkey Sanctuary. It was a very busy day, but a lot of fun and well worth the money. A special shout-out to Dharma. It was a treat to spend our day with him, and we felt so well taken care of. He was prompt, courteous, and genuinely cared about providing us with the experience we wanted, whether it was stopping off for coffee or making sure we were comfortable in the sun or having cold water waiting for us in the car. He was able to interpret for us on a few occasions, giving us experiences with local people that we never would have been able to have on our own. Anyone fortunate enough to spend the day with him as their guide is lucky indeed.
We had an amazing day with tour guide Putu! Who is very kind and caring! and made it a memorable day for us. From cooking traditional Balinese food (recipe book included) To Monkey Forest and Rice Fields. Putu is very knowledgeable and told us many interesting facts along the way. Always offering to take photos, drinks and much more! Very accommodating. Thank you Putu!
We enjoyed our tour very much today, all the guides were knowledgeable and very easy to chat to! Thank you very much!! Cooking class not for the faint hearted, market was quite something!!
We had the most amazing day travelling up to ubud for our cooking class and sight seeing tour. We learnt so much about the culture and food in Indonesia. After an amazing morning and lunch we prepared, our driver Putu took us to the rice terrace which was incredible and then to the monkey Forrest. Putu was a very professional and informative tour guide that taught and showed us a lot of history and culture.
Could not have been better!! Everything was spectacular including the driver and tour guides. Very knowledgeable and interactive.
Great tour to learn cooking balinese dishes. Explore the local market and followed by cooking class. The guide was amazing. Really enjoyed it.
Had the pleasure of being accompanied by the driver darma. Very nice and knowledgeable. Made many different foods at the cooking class that I can hopefully recreate back home as they provide you with a recipe book ☺️ And the monkey forest is another amazing experience 10/10 day!
The cooking class was very nice! Also for people who don't like cooking:) the cook was very chill and gave good explanations with instructions. We were picked up by Tony at our Vila a very professional driver with lots of local know how and lots of good tips. we laughed a lot and listened to music!
A little insight into the cuisine of Bali, a must for lovers of international cuisine. A guided tour of the local market, with explanation of individual spices, vegetables and fruits. The cooking course is structured in such a way that all ingredients and their effects are presented, all are involved in the cooking course and cook together. Preparation of the dish and subsequent consumption.
The tour with Toni was really great! We were picked up at our hotel on time. First we went to a temple. Toni speaks very good English and told us a lot about the temple and religion here in Bali. Afterwards we went to a waterfall, which was also really nice. Toni has always taken pictures of us and is really good at it. The jungle swing was the next highlight of the tour:) Also the rice breeds and the tour on the coffee plantation were really interesting. Overall it was a great day. Toni is very open and nice. He gives a good insight into life in Bali and is really a great guide who tries very hard! We learned more about Bali today than any other day before:) Thank you Toni !
We booked the Canting Cooking class on the recommendation of our host and were not disappointed. Local market, visit of a rice field, realization of an offering and great participatory cooking classes. All with passionate, competent and very pleasant staff! To do it with your eyes closed.
