We had a very good overall experience at Payogan, and the resort itself is absolutely beautiful and peaceful. The private pool villas are a highlight - you get a huge pool that feels like you have the whole thing to yourself. The room, bathroom and overall villa were decent. The balcony, however, could have been cleaner. There were some bird droppings left on the chairs, and the floor outside also needed some cleaning. The bathroom was clean, but unfortunately there was a very bad smell near the toilet, which seemed to be coming from the septic system. This was quite noticeable and bothersome throughout our stay, especially because the smell would come back whenever we used the bathroom. The hot tub in the bathroom, however, was excellent and a really nice feature. I also felt the bathroom was missing some basic amenities that many other resorts provide, such as body lotion/moisturiser hairdryer and a few other essentials. Another downside was the TV. It was very small for such a huge room, and it was barely visible from the bed. In fact, the room was so huge that I felt tired walking from the bed to the door 😂 but honestly, it was still a great experience overall! The resort is a little far from Ubud centre, so having a car or bike makes things much easier. However, the resort provides a shuttle service to Ubud every two hours, which is very convenient. They also have buggies available for pickup and drop-off from your room, which is great for anyone who has difficulty walking or using stairs. We had breakfast included and were really impressed with the variety of options available. I’m a big fan of their breakfast menu! The lunch and dinner options, however, felt a little expensive compared with some of the really good restaurants you can find in Ubud. The spa was also very good and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend trying it. One unexpected experience we had was a little gecko/lizard hiding somewhere in the room on our first night. It made some surprisingly loud and horrifying sounds and disturbed our sleep 😂. Since the resort is surrounded by nature and located in the woods, I guess this can happen. It’s not harmful, but it definitely gave us a bit of a scare! We informed the resort, and they quickly came and removed it, so thank you to the staff for handling it. Overall, Payogan was a beautiful and peaceful stay with amazing private pool villas, excellent breakfast, a good spa and helpful staff. There are a few areas that could be improved, particularly the bathroom smell, balcony cleanliness and room amenities, but we still had a very good experience and would recommend it for anyone looking for a relaxing stay surrounded by nature in Ubud.

We booked a family room with a private pool and were very happy with our choice. The room was spacious, well-maintained, and beautifully designed, blending modern comforts with old-world charm. The view from our room was stunning and added to the overall experience. The property itself is quiet and peaceful, making it perfect for a relaxing getaway. All the rooms have modern amenities while retaining a classic feel. Breakfast was decent with a good variety, though there were very few Indian options, which was a slight disappointment for us. Location-wise, the resort is a bit away from the hustle and bustle. It’s about a 10-minute walk from the main road and roughly 30 minutes from central Ubud. There is a shuttle service from the resort, but the frequency is limited, so it’s best to plan your outings accordingly. Overall, if your idea of a holiday is to relax, unwind, and spend time enjoying the property and its surroundings, this is an ideal place to stay.
had an amazing stay at this beautiful hotel! Everything was perfect – the rooms were spotless, the facilities were excellent, and the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. The entire staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. A special thank you to Wayan, who is truly the best employee. He went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. He was always friendly, helpful, and had a smile on his face. His outstanding service and genuine kindness made a huge difference. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Bali. I will definitely come back. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!
Omg what an epic first place to stay when arriving to Bali! I was on my own for 2 nights before heading to a retreat and this accomodation was amazing! I had a garden villa and loved it esp the size of the bed OMG! Enjoyed the outdoor bath every day having one late at night and early morning and both stunning! Other than the amazing grounds, what made it more amazing was the staff. The reception team were amazing and helped me to get a driver and plan a whole day full of activities. They helped me with an international plug and at their buffet meals (HEAPS of options!) the staff were so accomodating. A highlight was in the first night when I went to dinner, they had a balinese performers which was so fun (even when I got up twice lol ahhhh) Thank you team! I will 100% recommend this space to my friends and family!
The hotel has a charming rustic vibe that blends beautifully with its surroundings. We opted for a pool villa, and the experience was truly surreal. If you're staying here, make sure to set aside some time to explore the entire property at sunrise—the views and atmosphere are absolutely worth it. The food is decent, and the staff are exceptionally courteous and attentive. You can also rent a scooter directly from the hotel reception, which is a convenient way to explore the area.
