Sun Island Boutique Villas & Spa Seminyak

Stayed in a 1 bdrm pool villa. 12B.. Great sized room and perfect size pool. Fridge didn’t seal properly so requested to swap it and it was replaced promptly. Bathroom floors tile edging could do with a good cleaning and pool area walls were a bit mouldy and had a fair bit of moss on them. Pool floor was starting to get quite greenish around the edges by time we had a 10 day stay.. Staff were amazing and friendly. Security guys are awesome and don’t mind a custard choc desert from Papa Lees across the road 🤣 I would still recommend and stay again.⭐️

The missed flight is a powerful point, but readers may view it as ultimately your responsibility, so it’s stronger to present it as a consequence of the hotel’s actions rather than something they directly caused. This property has potential, but significant improvements are needed before it lives up to that potential. First, I agree with other reviewers who mentioned a strong mold/mildew smell in the rooms, which appears to be coming from the air conditioning unit. The floors, toilet, shower, and countertops also need refurbishment or deep restoration, as they appear worn and aged. Additionally, the sink faucet is positioned too close to the counter, causing water to pool around the base and contribute to staining. The larger issue, however, was how management handled a towel that had come into contact with menstrual blood. Shortly after housekeeping collected the towel, I was informed that I might be charged a fee for a “stain.” I immediately explained that if there was any difficulty removing it, I would gladly clean it myself, as this type of stain can often be removed with proper treatment. Despite having more than a day to address the situation, the staff waited until (the night) I returned to collect my luggage (after I already checked out that morning) before attempting to charge me $15 USD. At that point, I cleaned the towel myself in the lobby restroom, exactly as I had offered to do from the beginning. The entire situation felt unnecessary and poorly handled. Most reputable hotels and villas either have the proper cleaning products to treat common stains or simply replace a towel when necessary. Menstrual blood is a normal and unavoidable reality for many guests, and treating it as grounds for a penalty fee felt unreasonable and insensitive. What should have been a simple matter consumed valuable time on the final day of my trip, created unnecessary stress, and significantly impacted an otherwise enjoyable stay. While the property has promise, management’s handling of this situation left a lasting negative impression, especially as it caused me to be stuck in Asia for two additional days.

​I strongly advise against staying at Sun Island Villa. My experience was thoroughly disappointing. The hotel was incredibly unclean, with visible dirt and grime everywhere. Internet is worst and the bathroom was filthy, the flooring felt sandy and dirty, and the in-room pool was completely useless and poorly maintained. To make matters worse, the kitchen is outdoors, which I found unsafe due to insects, and there is no complimentary bottled water, only a dispenser for tap water, which doesnt feel safe for drinking. I would not recommend this place to anyone

We were just a short stroll away from a variety of shops, cafes, and restaurants, making it easy to experience the vibrant energy of Seminyak without compromising on tranquility.
