I really enjoyed my 2 wk stay at Legian Village Hotel. Great location, close to lots of shops and restaurants. The beach is at the end of the road, which is under 10 minutes walk. The rooms are clean and spacious. The pool was really nice and relaxing. It was better than expected, I thought it was funny I had to run the shower water for 5 mins before the hot water came through. My room was facing Padma Rd and right next to the pool, so at times it could be loud. I paid $470 AUD for 16 nights which was perfect for my budget.

The staff are wonderful, the location is perfect for beach and shopping, the food is good and it has a pool. But, and its a BIG BUT...the rooms are truly horrible. Ive stayed here before and over time the place has become more and more run down. This trip, because of bad knees, I requested a ground floor room, booked 6 months before we arrived, but we were given Room 114, first floor, in a building without a lift, over the shops on the street front. The bed was HARD, there was no wardrobe, just 2 side panels and a rod between to hang clothes on. The bathroom was filthy and mouldy. I refused the room, was shown to others, neither in the ground floor, but one in the building with the elevator. We took that room, but it was REALLY musty, smelled bad and there was a barely any water pressure in the bathroom. The slight trickle of water from. The hand tap was barely enough to rinse your hands. The hot water takes almost 5 minutes (yes, i timed it) to come through the shower which had no pressure at all. Shampooing was so impossible I had to go to a shop to have my hair washed. Honesty, it makes me sad to give this review. I will never stay here again.
Musty damp rooms. They smell as soon as you walk in. Bathrooms are grim and the water takes a lot longer than 5 minutes to come through in the shower. Be careful as they could try and put you in rooms up a street across from the hotel. Booked a standard room but the photos are nothing like them. No terrace, no garden view and certainly no slippers
Next up The Legian Village Hotel, which we had heard of and seen so decided to pop in to take a closer look and to get a bite to eat in their Bar and Grill that's open to everyone. We were honestly surprised of the relaxing vibes given off, with trees and foliage interspersed with paths and water features. The menu is a decent size and quite varied; we had a hankering for fried chicken for reasons, but as they did not serve this we opted for chicken wings. For the price it was excellent. For what it's worth, diners are allowed to use the pool, but they allow no outside food and drink. I am not sure how strict this is with guests, but obviously this does not apply to your room. A quick chat with the duty manager, Wally, and we were set up with a couple of nights stay, with many thanks to the owner who we met. The room featured a large double bed, TV, fridge, coffee making facilities, bathroom - with *bath* and shower - and lots of storage. The latter had seemed odd at first, but we soon realised that many of the guests come to stay and pretty much stayed there for around a month, and they treat the incredibly helpful staff as part of their 'vacation family', knowing all their names; yes, it's that kind of place. Breakfast (served 7-10) can be added to your booking, and here, too, it is recommended, offering a buffet style selection complete with a dedicated egg section manned by a chef, whilst gentle East Asian music plays. We mention the music because that music changes to a more party atmosphere later in the day, and in the evening with live singers, which can be hit or miss in so far as how good they are; Western hits are the order of the day here. We only stayed a couple of nights, but, along with everyone else, were made to feel welcomed. If you like the sound of being in the heart of everything but surrounded by trees, foliage, and many water features, then the Legian Village comes highly recommended. Oh, and there's cats. A lot of them. They just laze about all day, whilst kittens haven't quite got the hang of the unspoken rules so will constantly be heard asking to be fed. Unsure if they are strays allowed to hang around (possibly keeping rodents out), a thing the hotel has always done, or they live there, but if you are a cat person expect to see a few. Actually we do know. So this is Sabbi, she was sort of adopted after guests insisted she stayed, so she stayed. However, Sabbi is terrified of mice and rats... go figure. The others? They just kind of joined in much to Sabbi's chagrin - no word if they feel the same about rodents. The Legian Village comes highly recommended.
You get what you pay for. Great location and layout. Rooms are average, some pretty run-down. The cleaning methodology needs and overhaul, as do the rooms. But, it's cheap as chips and central.
