We just had an incredible 5 night family stay at La Joya Balangan Resort. Everything was amazing, the location, the accommodation, the food and the most impressive was the service. Such lovely, welcoming people. You have the most amazing staff and we will definitely be returning. Thank you so much. Peace and love

Don't book this place unless you want your trip to start with a nightmare. We have booked the 10 pax villa and the actual place was far below what was shown on the booking app. One of the bedrooms had no window at all — we entered at 2pm and the room was completely in darkness without the lights on. The bigger issue was safety. The second floor has 3 king beds for 6 people, but guests have to carry their luggage up a staircase that is only protected on one side. The upstairs sleeping area is also completely open with no door or privacy, and people from the common bar area next to the villa can see into it. We raised these concerns and asked to change rooms. Staff told us nothing else was available, even though we could see available rooms on the booking app. We then asked for a refund because we did not feel safe staying there, and they refused to refund us. This wasn't about the villa simply looking different from the photos. We raised legitimate safety concerns, were refused an alternative room, and were still refused a refund. Very poor handling of the situation.
Our fully paid, still-active three-night villa reservation was listed for sale again. We booked the Three-Bedroom Villa at La Joya Balangan Resort through Booking.com for three nights. After checking in, we found the villa uncomfortable for us, so we asked whether we could change to another room type or receive a partial refund. Both requests were declined. We understand that the hotel may refuse a refund under the booking policy. Because we were uncomfortable staying there, we took our luggage and left the property, but we did not check out or cancel the reservation. Since no refund was provided, our three-night booking remained active and fully paid. On October 1, 2026, we found the same Three-Bedroom Villa listed as available again on Booking.com for October 2–3. We also contacted the hotel via WhatsApp, and their team confirmed that the Private Villa was available for booking that night. After we questioned why a fully paid and still-active reservation was being offered for sale again, the hotel confirmed in writing that our reservation “remains active and fully paid” and said they would investigate. Shortly after our WhatsApp conversation, the villa was no longer available for booking, but the hotel did not provide any further explanation or follow-up. We can understand a no-refund policy. What we cannot understand is making a fully paid and still-active room available for resale when we had not checked out or agreed to cancel the reservation. In our view, this is unfair to the guest.
This resort is in a stunning location on a cliff overlooking balangan Bay with easy access by a set of long steps to the ocean. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and peaceful. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I loved the larger quiet pool. They also have yoga on the cliff overlooking the ocean. I would have loved to rate 5/5 except the soundproofing in the rooms is very bad as there are large gaps in the doors so depending on where your room is located it will make or break your stay. We had a bungalow by the parking/road our first night and didn't get any sleep because you can literally here everything outside. The staff were very accommodating and moved us the second night to a bungalow away from the road and then this resort became one of my favorites on our trip as it was peaceful and quiet in that area of the resort. My other reason for rating a bit lower is because they only supply you with 2 glass bottles of water in your room which housekeeping refills daily. The tap water is not drinkable in Bali and you are forever trying to stay hydrated in the heat so this is not ideal. Every other resort we stayed at supplied unlimited drinking water 24/7. There is water for purchase on site during restaurant hours but it is very overpriced. We ended up buying water from the warungs on the beach for cheap but this made for lots of unnecessary plastic waste. I would definitely stay again as the pros by far out way the cons.
Don’t come here if you want a local experience, you’ll miss the awesome service that Bali can provide. Also you can get much more value from your money, this is not a cheap hotel. It lacks maintenance at the pools, lots of broken tiles left with hazardous edges. Rooms look nice, but are impractical and the bathroom has bad smells. Food is lame , not tasty and everything is charged as extra. 15k for hot water, extra charge for sambal on a local dish like nasi goreng which should come with sambal as you get it everywhere else. It is a rip off. As a foreigner, you are willing to pay some more for good food and service, but this a new level of taking advantage from tourists. Their restaurant is the worse part, very expensive food and not even tasty unless you have American food. 55k for two boiled eggs , you can get a babiguling dish for 20k in the best reviewed local place in Uluwatu. Service is not great, although the receptionist does his best servers rarely smile at you. I’d never come back again, The goods are you are next to the beach, sightseeing and landscape. This is all.
