We spent 14 nights at this hotel resort and we loved it. The staff was fantastic, very attentive, friendly, welcoming and always there when needed if you had any issue. The room was great, the beds are massive, nice and clean. Some of the rooms come with your own private pool that get cleaned daily. I was very happy with my stay here. Another good point to mention is the location is brilliant as there are lots of shops and food restaurants and cafes right near it.

I give Barong Resort and Spa a 4 with a heavy heart as my decision to pass on the 5 was only due to the remodel of the pool which was something I was looking forward to. We were notified on arrival and our host was very apologetic. Everything else from that moment on was magic. The room was spacious and clean. Every need was catered for. The proximity to everything from the Water Palace to the Ubud Art Market was within walking distance. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was an awesome and magical experience and on arrival at our new place we already started missing Barong Resort and Spa as well as Ubud. There are a few places I wont mention here that can take a lesson from Barong Resort and Spa about cleanliness and hygiene, not to mention enhancing the client experience. Love everything about Barong Resort. The room is spacious and comfortable with complete amenities - they even have smart tv, something u don't always get in typical classic, boutique hotel. Huge bathtub with filtered shower head and a standing rain shower feature. Loving the interior and design of the whole place. Public pool is still in renovation but its not a huge issue to us since we choose to explore around Ubud. Mind you our room was located right next to the pool, so once the renovation is done I bet it would be even more perfect. Hats off to the service and staff, very accommodating and welcoming. Gave us welcoming drinks and a small tour when we were checking in - a small, winning touch even some other bigger hotels fail to give. Location is top notch right at the heart of Ubud, with many tasty restaurants, coffees, or bars nearby. They have their own restaurant but we didn't get to try. Got woken up by the sound of monkeys playing on the roof, although i didn't meet any in person. Thank you, and would definitely pay this place more visits in the future!
The check in experience was excellent, and I was impressed with the room upon first entry: nice private courtyard with a private pool, spacious bedroom, spacious and nice bathroom. All excellent. Located in the heart of Ubud, the location is stellar. Overall the experience was very functional, but let down by a few service failures. Firstly, we had booked a guided jungle trek and waterfall viewing through the hotel. They referred us to their ‘preferred partner’, who was difficult to make arrangements with and ultimately we felt let down as representations were made about there being trekking opportunities. It turns out there was no trek nearby ubud and instead we were just driven to a waterfall. This was fine but not the experience we had expected or paid for. The driver also seemed to get lost on the way back and we spent around 45 minutes on top of the already 1 hour 15 minute journey back to the hotel. Secondly, we requested transportation to our next destination at Canggu. The hotel reception organised a taxi for us, and when we asked how much the price was, we were told it was up to our negotiation. So we asked what was reasonable and not given a definite answer. While that practice is totally normal when dealing with taxi drivers- it’s not what i expect from a hotel. The breakfast was also quite disappointing. The ones we tried seemed to be odd assortments of different things in strange proportions. Overall still a pleasant experience, but would have been much elevated by more attentive service.
