Loved this hotel. Lovely room with a view. The bathroom was gorgeous. Best shower in Spain! Dark and quiet at night, despite perfect central location near the cathedral. Do look at the history. Super interesting and they could make more of it. The staff were very kind and helpful. The breakfast was good value (2 options, continental €6 or buffet €12). Our only issue was the keycards kept stopping working, meaning a trip back to reception most times. But that was minor.

Old world class in a 16th century palace. What is there not to love about this place, besides the fabulous location? We stayed in the more affordable rooms on the first floor as a treat after our pilgrimage. Fantastic staff at check-in, as we had hoped to just drop off our backpacks and explore the city. But the room was ready! Everything perfect from the comfortable twin beds, cleanliness, mini fridge (complimentary mini bottles of water), bidet (a plus for Italians), and a big flatscreen with streaming services. For those who like to sleep in total darkness, the shutters are electronically controlled, and of course, there is A/C that is not noisy. The only thing I didn't notice in the room is a menu for room service, so I cannot comment on the availability.
A charming hotel right in the heart of Ávila. Its central location is ideal for exploring the city, yet it remains very quiet, with no street noise at all. That said, you may hear some noise if neighboring guests are loud. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the housekeeping staff are especially kind and professional. The price is also very reasonable, offering great value for money. One small downside is that the taps are quite old, making it a bit tricky to adjust the water temperature—particularly in the shower. Overall, a very pleasant stay with a lot of character.
Hotel Palacio de Los Velada boasts an amazing location within the walled fortress at Avila, offering a truly special setting steeped in historical charm. We loved how quaint and quiet the hotel was, creating a peaceful retreat that felt worlds away from modern bustle while remaining conveniently central. The rooms are all renovated and very spacious, successfully blending historical architecture with contemporary comfort. The bathroom is so amazingly modern, featuring updated fixtures and finishes that provide luxury amenities while respecting the building's heritage character. The food proved great as well, exceeding typical hotel restaurant expectations. We particularly enjoyed the tempura-ed vegetables, which were light and crispy, and the chuletón de Avila was absolutely perfect - showcasing the region's famous beef with expert preparation that honored this premium local ingredient. The breakfast buffet offered a decent spread that covered all bases. They featured all the traditional Spanish breakfast staples including a quality charcuterie board and authentic Spanish omelettes (tortilla), providing guests with genuine local flavors to start their day. Hotel Palacio de Los Velada successfully combines historic ambiance with modern comfort, quality dining, and prime location within Avila's iconic walls.
