Very pleasant welcome from Nicky (guide) at the Tamiatia ferry terminal with an immediate introduction to some local/new zealand interesting information ( LOTR) related. We were the only two people with Nicky, that added a nice personalised dimension. Weather was inclement but the tour still 'worked'. The tasting sessions were nicely spaced out and we're well coordinated. Lunch was not included in our tour so we had lunch at the second winery but no alternative option was provided i.e. 'this is where you will have lunch'.

We booked with Nicky based on other positive reviews, and couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. We visited three wineries and three beaches. When Nicky learned we liked birds and plants, she made a point to include that in the tour, and even drove us past a location in a television series we'd watched. We recommend her tour to everyone who plans to visit beautiful Waiheke Island!
Top notch local wine tour. We really appreciated Nikki’s knowledge of the geography and vineyards, Her rapport with the wineries and workers was evident and we had lovely service at each winery. Highly recommended! Mahalo nui loa!
Nicky was awesome, just as everyone said she would be. We tasted wine three wineries and also had a wonderful lunch at Batch winery. Nicky taught us so much about the island and its history and the people. Everyone we met was so kind and patient. Highly recommend this tour and Nicky.
We had an amazing day with Nicky. She gave us tons of info regarding food, flora, history of the island, restaurants, wine. Besides the wonderful and scenic wineries we also made a number of quick stops with stunning views for pix. Highly recommend this tour!
Even though the day started a bit ugly, weatherwise, our tour with Nicky was great from start to finish. She showed the two of us her beautiful island and we visited three wineries. She obviously knows each winery well and them knowing her probably made each experience a bit more personal as opposed to us just popping in on our own. Lunch at Batch Winery was delicious and Nicky preordering our choices for us made things go very smoothly. Our last stop at Mudbrick Winery was the best. Despite it's size, we had an excellent unhurried tasting experience with some excellent wines presented by Jake our server.
My wife and I did the afternoon wine affair which involved lunch on onetangi beach and tastings at 3 different wineries. From the start I was very impressed by the communication where we received confirmation, reminders in the build up and information about booking the ferry and where to meet. We were met at the ferry terminal by our guide for the day Karen who was a very lovely, endearing, knowledgeable lady who is clearly very proud and passionate about the island. Our lunch at Ki Maha was absolutely fantastic, the food was incredible and we had a wonderful view of the beach. Karen then took us on to three wineries all of which were very different with their own quirks and charms. We ended our tour at the mudbrick vineyard which had stunning views of the island. Karen was brilliant throughout the whole day, very accommodating, both personable and professional making sure we had everything we needed and told us lots about the island as we went round, often taking us on longer and more scenic routes to show us and tell us even more. Thank you for a great trip, Marc.
Nicky was our guide. And we were the only two on the tour as she had cancellations. That made our tour a private tour. Nicky did a fantastic job. We toured around the island and saw some beautiful beaches and homes while Nicky told us about the history of the island and some of its current challenges. Being from Cape Cod we could relate. We went to Postage Stamp (which also had Obsidian wines), Batch where we had lunch with a prime table with a view and finally Mudbrick which had a definite party atmosphere. Well worth booking this trip. Thanks Nicky.
Nicky was a pleasure to tour with. She took us to some great beaches and viewpoints. Being in a small group is the only way to do the winery visits.
Nicky is a great guide, very friendly and knowledgeable. She showed us the island and gave us a lot of interesting information about life in New Zealand. The small group format is really nice- and can only be much better than the competing tours with dozens of people. We had a wonderful time.
What a fabulous tour! Nicky was great - very knowledgeable and personable. I booked it for a small group feel and it ended up just being me and my husband so basically a private tour! The 3 wineries we went to were excellent and the 2nd one where we had lunch was a great choice - gorgeous view and great food. Several other stops around the island to see beaches and other parts of the island other than just wineries. Would definitely do this tour again!
Nikki was a wonderful guide. Friendly and knowledgeable about the island and the wineries. The wineries we visited were very good. All were beautiful and well represented by the hosts. We wish they had focused more on their red wines , or that a choice of tastings was offered.
Beautiful island, great wineries and eateries, with fantastic vistas, easily accessible by island ferries and a great local guide
We chose this tour because it was described as small group (6 or fewer). Since we knew nothing about the island or the wineries, we did not have anything to compare the various tours. When we arrived on Waiheke, we were met by Nicky, the company owner and sole employee. We were very happy to learn we were the only customers on the tour, so we got 100% of Nicky’s attention. Nicky had a wealth of knowledge about the island that she shared while driving us around. She took us to three fine wineries, with each having unique wines and venues. At one winery we noticed large buses arriving with 20+ people for a tasting. We felt very special to have our own personal tastings. A great day, a great tour, and a great memory.
An Excellent tour of a beautiful island. It was great to have the commentary of a local & to visit stunning beaches as well as the vineyards
The experience was very nice. The views were beautiful despite the rain. We visited 3 wineries and learned about the different wines made on Waiheke Island . Nicky was very nice and had lots of local knowledge.
Niki was a wonderful and personable guide. Her vehicle was very comfortable for the 4 participating on this tour. We saw the towns and beaches on Waiheke and visited 3 wineries with 3 tastings at each. It was a great day!
It was small group and with that you were able to get a more personal view of the island from a look time resident.
A wonderful day! Nikki met us at the ferry and we were the only ones on the tour that day. A bonus! She was very personable and showed us the island with a couple of beach stops and 3 wineries. All the tastings were well organized, as was the lunch (at our expense) at Batch Winery. A very enjoyable day and I would definitely recommend a small group tour.
This is one of the next excursions we’ve done. It’s a much more intimate experience where you’re not with a large group of people. We got really lucky and it was just me, my wife and the tour guide Nikki. She is a local who’s extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the island and she drives you to 3 amazing wineries and many beautiful viewpoints. There are included tastings at each wineries with their respective experts, everyone was so nice and knowledgeable and the wine was absolutely delicious!
Loved it! Had an absolutely amazing day. Great tour, great staff, great wine! We enjoyed it so much.
Nikki was the best guide !.A resident Kiwi that knew everything about the island and wine region. We saw beaches , wineries and had a wonderful lunch at Batch Winery . I wouldn’t hesitate booking a tour with this tour company. We hope to be back to Waiheke someday. Thank you for everything!!! Highly recommend!
We loved this tour. What's not to like about a beautiful setting and wine tasting. Nikki was amazing and very knowledgeable about the island and the vineyards. It was great to meet the other couple and have the small group. We feel very fortunate to have taken this tour because we booked 2 days before. So the stars were with us even though the weather was not. It was a cool, windy and overcast day. Thankfully it did not rain until we were back in our hotel room. Definitely worth the money and the time.
We booked a last minute tour but everything was so organised and amazing! It was a great experience without having to worry about driving after wine tasting. Nicky was lovely and personalized the trip for us by picking & dropping us from our AirBnB and stopping at woolsworth for us to get some stuff. I don't think there could have been any better tour than this!
We had a great time! We got to visit multiple beaches, got to have great views out over the island towards Auckland and all of that was in addition to the wine tasting at 3 different vineyards.
It was a great tour of Waiheke island. The wine tastings were great and the beaches we visited were beautiful. Well worth a visit.
We had a wonderful time exploring the beautiful Waiheke with Vicky, who was very lovely and knowledgeable. We started the tour at the harbour, and it was nice as it was just us and one other couple. We were brought to three stunning beaches, before we visited the three wineries. We tasted delicious wine, had a lovely lunch at a place with the most stunning vista and just had a brilliant day. 10/10 would recommend.
We particularly enjoyed the first tasting, at Stonyridge Vineyard - Gary gave us lots of interesting information about both the wine we were drinking and the history of the vineyard. And the view from Mudbrick Vineyard was amazing! We appreciated the stops at the beach for photos and to run our toes in the Pacific. Also loved Nicky’s personal style as a tour guide - so fun to see it all through a local’s eyes. Aimee and Bernie Doyle
Awesome tour, amazing driver, beautiful island - incredible. Wine was outstanding too. Food as well, oysters incredible!
This was an okay experience. The drive was very long over bumpy roads so please be aware of that. Our driver was great although he stopped several times on the way to be sick. The Cherry Tree Hill was anticlimactic and not worth the extra drive time. The lunch and Bathsheba was beautiful. Snorkeling was fun. Scheduled pick up time was before the stated pick up window and 2 hrs, 15 min before the stated excursion start time without any explanation and minimal notice (informed about 18 hours before pick up) Would have preferred more notice of these changes with an explanation. Also Viator listing stated 10 person tour max, we were a group of 10, and then they added more to our group.
My daughter and I got to see some beautiful parts of the island and visited 3 fantastic wineries. Our tour guide, Nicky, and the wine stewards gave us some wine tasting lessons. It was a sunny day and the views were just fantastic.
Stop looking for the best Waiheke Wine Tasting tour and book this one now. Nicky is the best guide. She lives on Waiheke and her husband is on the wine making business. She knows the staff at the wineries she visits and her guests are immediately tended to and well taken care of. Her knowledge of the island, its history and the wine making business is encyclopedic. She is extremely flexible and just a lot of fun to be with. Look no further!!
Nicky was a wonderful guide and really made the time so enjoyable! From the moment she picked us up at the ferry station, she was full of knowledge, a safe driver, the vehicle was clean and comfortable, and it was so nice that we had such a small group. We were a family of four adults and there was one other couple that joined the tour. We got to see some beautiful beaches and experienced three amazing wineries. The lunch was on our own and the table was ready for us when we arrived. We saw lots of other people doing hop on hop off bus, but we were so glad that we decided to do the private tour. It made the day so easy and comfortable and we feel like we got a lot more in then we would have if we had tried to do it ourselves.
Stop looking at other wine tours and book this one RIGHT NOW! Nicky is THE BEST tour guide of the island and knows the best wineries to take you to. She stopped us at all the scenic spots to take photos and was on top of every detail. She made our day on Waihiki so special and feel so lucky to have been on her tour. If you have a group of 5 or less, this is trip for you!!
We booked this at the last minute but Nicky was fab. Not only did we have a very personalised experience which was incredible but we also saw a little of the island as well. If you want to avoid the bus trips I highly recommend this.
What a great day on Waiheke Island! Nicky knows the island front to back and was able to show us corners of the island the big buses can't get to. She also tailored the trip along the way to bolster answers to the many questions we had along way learning much about the flora/fauna and wine of the island. I would book this tour again on a future visit.
The wineries were excellent and loved the personalized service and it was a nice extra to see the beaches.
We enjoyed the trip. At times it felt a little rushed, but saw some gorgeous areas. Overall we had a good experience.
If you want to avoid the big groups and join a small, informative tour of Waiheke island, Nicky could be the option for you. Nicky is an island resident and will take you on a tour of beaches and vantage points, in between wineries of course! Our tour covered Stonyridge, Batch, and Mudbrick wineries and Nicky has these booked in advance so you get a private tasting with a small group rather than the big group option. Lunch is at your own cost which we enjoyed at Batch winery’s restaurant. The food and views were sensational. We had a most enjoyable day!
It took about 4:30-5hours. The wineris tour with Nicky was our best choice for our honeymoon. She is so kind and help us to have expirence as much as we can. She introduced to us not only wineries but also wonderful points for the picture. I highly recommend this program!!
A delightful day. Great choice of wineries and the lunch (not included but she picked the winery for it) was delicious. So glad we went on this small group option and not the big crowded bus groups we saw. Would highly recommend.
Lovely day, a great mixture of seeing some of the sights on Waiheke, coupled with some great wine tastings and a lovely lunch. Very informative and friendly guide.
Our small group of five had a great time. The excursion was informative, comfortable and very fun. Nicky, our guide, is a local resident and shared a wealth of information about the island and its wineries. We were taken to some beautiful scenic island locations and provided with an insiders perspective of the island. Our tour featured Stonyridge, Batch, and Mudbrick wineries. Each of these wineries has a different focus that provided a wonderful exposure to the wines Waiheke Island has to offer. We enjoyed a truly delicious lunch at Batch winery’s restaurant. Nicky, thank you for an enjoyable day!
I’ve been here 16 days and this was the best thing I’ve done. The island is beautiful and interesting. And, the wine tastings were a lot of fun. Sitting at the open window with an incredible view for lunch at Batch Winery was the best. Nicky at Wai Tiki tours was a great guide as she lives on the island and knows it well. Thanks Nicky.
We had a great time exploring the island, and tasting the Wines. Loved StoneyRidge! Our Guide was helpful and super funny!! It was lovely being in a small group, felt like we got a more exclusive experience.
The views were stunning. The guide Miki gave us a wonderful tourist guide during the tour. We appreciate this customer service they offered. It is very worthwhile trying. Thanks!
We loved our tour - it was informative, beautiful, fun and comfortable. The tour guide was friendly and welcoming and knew lots about Waiheke Island, it’s history, and it’s vineyards. When we looked on TripAdvisor there were several options for Waiheke Island wine tours, we don’t regret choosing this one at all!
Small group of 2. Guide stayed with us even through lunch which was not expected. Knowledgeable about island and great views
Great tour with a wonderful overview of the island in addition to the three fantastic winery visits. Awesome guide and very personalized attention!
Excellent small group tour (just wife and me). Went to Stonypoint, Batch, and Mudbrick wineries. All excellent wines.
