We had a great time on this tour and saw so much. Liam is an excellent guide, and gave us a lot of cultural and historical information. It was nice to see other parts of the city outside the central business area. We walked to the top of 2 volcanoes, went to black and white sand beaches, and saw a gannet colony.

Itinerary
Begin your journey with hotel pickups (select locations only) before heading to Te Toka o Apihai Te Kawau, the founding memorial of Auckland on the waterfront.
Travel along scenic Tamaki Drive to this historic and visually striking clifftop park honouring one of New Zealand’s most respected leaders.
Cruise along the waterfront past this iconic local beach suburb, with insights into the area’s history and volcanic landscape.
Stop to take in sweeping views of the Hauraki Gulf and Rangitoto Island, the youngest and largest of Auckland’s 48 volcanic cones.
Explore the city’s oldest park and see the Auckland War Memorial Museum, tropical gardens, and peaceful ponds. Pass through charming Parnell en route.
Drive through Newmarket and head to Auckland’s highest natural point. Take a short walk to the summit for spectacular views and a look into the heart of this dormant volcano.
Complete the city portion by travelling through Karangahape Road and Queen Street, finishing beneath the Sky Tower.
Cross the Harbour Bridge and head west into the countryside. Arrive at Hallertau Brewery for a delicious lunch from a set menu, with the option to sample local craft beers (at your own cost).
Visit Auckland’s wild west coast and walk along the dramatic black sand beach. Learn about the region’s geology, wildlife, and raw natural beauty.
Take a short walk up the clifftop trail for coastal views and a chance to see the largest mainland gannet colony in the North Island (nesting season varies).
Crossing the harbour again, we head to the charming seaside suburb of Devonport. Here, we take a scenic drive to the top of North Head, a historic volcanic cone with sweeping views of the Hauraki Gulf and city skyline. Learn about its fascinating military tunnels and coastal defence history as you explore this unique vantage point.
After a great afternoon exploring Auckland’s West Coast and North Shore, it’s time to return to the city. You can choose to take the scenic ferry ride back across the harbour from Devonport to the city, or enjoy a fully guided drive with drop-offs at central locations and hotels.

The experience was worthwhile & comprehensive. I was able to see so much of Auckland in just a day & nothing felt rushed. Our tour guide Simon was very friendly, knowledgeable & prepared. Cheeky caters to guests comfort & convenience with water & light snacks available on the bus. I travelled solo & despite being the only person who booked the full day (not just the afternoon), Cheeky Kiwi did not cancel. They even accommodated a couple whose Rotuora tour was cancelled & they joined us. Definitely recommend. This tour is value for money
Oct. 2026 I travelled solo & despite the fact I was the only person on that day to book the full day tour & Cheeky did not cancel the morning period sightseeing. I was very pleased about this. It so happened that a couple who were scheduled to do another tour joined this one. The guide Simon was very friendly, accommodating & prepared and knowledge. Cheeky’s guests are well taken care of. They even have water & light snacks on board and umbrellas if it rains. I recommend this tour.
Grant was an awesome tour guide. Loved the scenic places and he was very informative. Definitely highly recommend this tour providing Grant as the tour guide.
Truly a full city tour!! Matt was wonderful and took us everywhere. We were only in the city for 48 hours so this really did it all!! Heads up if you are expecting to wander around downtown this isn’t the tour for you. This is more a driving tour to varying parks and beaches.
My tour guide is Simon. He is nice, patient and polite. He knows English is not my first language. But he will try his best to use easier English to lets us understand the story behind. That’s an enjoyable and comfortable tour.
I got an e mail that they may have to cancel this tour and it was very unsure if they would do it right up until the day before. That was stressful but I am glad that it was able to proceed because it was so fun! Got to see so many things and great photo opportunities. A wonderful lunch! Matt was our guide and he was so great to help us see things and answer questions.
"Best day!!! Trent was fantastic—extremely knowledgeable and flexible with our itinerary. The van was modern, clean, and comfortable, and we felt safe the entire time. He went above and beyond to make the trip unforgettable Trent was amazing driver. Thank you for a great experience
The best tour to cover the best Auckland has to offer, it’ll be a long day with a lot of driving but you will not be disappointed by the story telling and views along the way to make the experience worth it
This was a great trip. I highly recommend the full day experience if going to be in Auckland for only a short time as gives a picture of Auckland and it's surroundings. For some travelers, it might even help to decide more in depth adventures to take. This was my second trip with Simon in a week. He is absolutely great!!!! He provided great commentary on the things visited, made certain all in group were engaged. In our group, we decided what places to go/see based on options he noted. Oh yes, although I don't drink coffee, those who do enjoyed the place he selected.
Simon was absolutely brilliant went above and beyond to make sure we seen as much as we could, nothing was too much trouble.
I loved all the stops. NZ is amazing. The stops were good but I felt the guide rushed us a bit. Felt she had New Years plans and wanted done early. Kept asking us if we wanted to take the ferry home we had to pay far, rather then the hotel drop off, and it was a rainy day so would have got wet on ferry. But other than that was an amazing day and excursion. Loved all the sites, tour, and people. Guide as well got a little political. I love a good historical story but not so much political.
We had an incredible experience with Pearl. Even though we were part of a group tour, she made the entire trip feel like a private, VIP experience. From start to finish, Pearl was attentive and flexible, constantly checking in to see what we were interested in rather than just sticking to a rigid script. She even went above and beyond the scheduled time to ensure we didn't miss a thing. A huge highlight was our visit to the Auckland War Memorial Museum, where she acted as our own personal guide, sharing deep insights we never would have found on our own. If you are looking for a guide who is professional, kind, and truly cares about your experience, we highly recommend Pearl.
The experience was amazing!! We met some truly exceptional people and saw areas of Auckland that were scenic and of great cultural significance. Our guides were not only knowledgeable but also passionate about what they do!
My tour with Matt on 11/19/2025 was great. He was fun, and as a long time resident of the area, very knowledgable. The morning was very personalized, since it was just me. However, when more folks joined in, he helped us all feel comfortable together.
A really nice tour, our Guide Grant was fab. I really enjoyed our stop at the black sand beach, breathtakingly beautiful. Davenport is a cute little town, Mt. Eden wonderful. The place we had lunch at was very cool - it was outdoors with a beach-modern feel to it. This was my 5th Cheeky Kiwi tour in 2 weeks and I have loved them all. I go on another tomorrow! I’m a solo traveler and I’m so grateful for their dedication to making sure I’m enjoying myself. For not canceling tours when not at capacity (I’m traveling during the off-season). I can easily say they have been a big part of how amazing my trip has been.
