Great tour and fun day! We were picked up promptly at cruise port and Mike was friendly and knowledgeable — my husband (former geologist) said his answers were very good with enough detail to make geology understandable but was also able to answer extra science questions when asked. Kept a good pace and walking was active but not extreme. Beautiful views of city and bay from the short climbs to tops of volcano grassy craters! Liked going to different sites and hearing a little history about volcanos that surround Auckland and how Maori used the craters. Well worth the money!
Great day despite the largely awful weather! On me in the tour and glad Mike didn’t cancel it due to the weather, which he almost did, but would have meant that was it for me as I was off the next day. Very knowledgeable and chatted around our wider travels. Weather meant couldn’t see some of the views at the various volcanoes, but interesting to learn about them and Māori culture at the times.
Tremendous experience. Tour guide Mike, knew everything about Auckland history, past culture , current culture. Volcano information was super interesting!
This was a very enjoyable tour. The guide, Mike, was knowledgeable and friendly. The itinerary was well planned. The trip matched the description shows in the promotional material.
Great way to see and learn about the volcanoes that surround Auckland. The peaks give you amazing views and why not get a little exercise in too.
Very informative and beautiful views of Auckland as well. Mike is very knowledgeable and well versed on the subject of New Zealand volcanoes.
This is a great little tour in Auckland. Mike is a great and patient guide, with tons of information about the volcanoes of Auckland you don’t get anywhere else. Very eye opening and extremely interesting tour, highly recommended!
Great experience! Lots of information on NZ and the volcanoes. Our guide was very knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions, and take a lot of photos for us. I would highly recommend this tour.
After a wet start, the tour was great. Small group of people so easy to get the local knowledge. Interesting sites to visit.
This was a fantastic tour! Mike was very knowledgeable and friendly. We walked up several old volcanos all with beautiful views of Auckland. Highly recommend this tour!
Mike was really informative, gauging what volcanic facts to share so well. It was a treat to get out and about round the wider city too. Only pity was not getting to go up One Tree Hill.
Mike provided knowledge and insight regarding regional volcanic activity. And, when prompted, he added commentary on a variety of topics affecting both New Zealand and the local Auckland community. He was professional, informative, and friendly.
On this tour, you will find some of the best views of Auckland. Michael, our tour guide was extremely informative, accommodating and friendly. Felt like we learnt more in this half day tours, compared to other full day tours we had been on. The smaller tour allowed for a more intermediate experience; highly recommend!!
This was a great tour, as we didnt have too much time in Auckland, but wanted to check out some of the volcanos around there. Mike was a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. Would recommend to others who are visiting Auckland.
Mike picked us up at our hotel arriving at the time he noted and was a wonderful tour guide. He provided just the right amount of details and was very flexible as well. I highly recommend this tour as you will walk away with a different view of Auckland after visiting these different sites. Mike, thank you so much Kevin, Tammy & Amanda.
This was a great half day tour learning about and visiting some of the volcanic sites around Auckland. I learned a lot about the history of Auckland and New Zealand as well as volcanoes. Our tour guide Mike was very knowledgable and friendly and went at a nice pace. Highly recommend if you are ready for some nice volcano walks!
This tour was exactly what I wanted and what it said on the tin. Pick up was well co-ordinated and on time. Mike is a great guide with a fountain of knowledge which he is happy to taylor to your interests/requirements. It was great to be able to walk around various volcanos etc with Mike giving detailed information on each. Wonderful photos of all sites visited. I approve this tour
This was such an interesting tour. Michael was so knowledgeable about Auckland, its history and the different volcanoes that we visited. We learned alot about Auckland, the Maori people and their struggles with the British. I highly recommend this tour as it is informative but also a way to see and learn about the city!
Mike was an awesome guide. We visited and learnt so much about the volcanoes around Auckland and NZ as a country. The tour was at an excellent pace and we enjoyed walking around the volcanos and the great views! Mike was very personable and was great guide.
that the entirety of Auckland is built on an active volcanic field, that each volcano erupts only once, & that the site of the next eruption is impossible to predict? Along with explaining this your excellent guide Mike shares interesting facts about his city all while you're getting great exercise walking to the volcanoes. His engineering background ensures a logically laid out tour ending with Mt. Eden that provides a 360 view of the area, thus incorporating the 3 previously viewed volcanoes. We enjoyed a lovely day & great conversation. Ask Mike about his next road trip. Highly recommend!
Mike is a lovely guy and really knows his stuff. Not only is the trip scientifically interesting, you also get a really good introduction to New Zealand / Maori history and culture and a really good look around the outskirts of Auckland as well as some great photograph opportunities of the city.
This is an amazing tour that takes you up multiple volcanoes and shows you amazing scenery and views. Mike is friendly and very knowledgable about the landscape and history of the area. The smaller group number compared to other tours allowed for a really personalised experience. Definitely a tour worth doing!
Spectacular view of Auckland. Our driver/tour guide was very knowleddeable on the vulcanoes, providing us with very interesting information.
A great way to understand AUCKLAND VOLCANIC FIELD which covers much of the metropolitan area of NZ's largest city. Impressive with good views. Our guide is knowledgeable, polite, and friendly. We enjoyed the tour.
Mike was knowledgeable, and accommodating., there was some walking involved but a really great day. The stop for a coffee provided a nice break
Rainy and foggy. Too expensive for what the tour offers. Aside from the weather that was really bad, the tour was not exciting at all
Guide was great and went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great time! He was really knowledgable and helped us to understand the volcanoes and Auckland much better!
Good tour. Picked up at our hotel. Visited 4 volcanoes and learned a lot about Auckland geography. Great views of city from various places. Very pleased with it all.
A different type of tour than the usual city sights. Mike was personable and knowledgeable about the volcano activity in the area. His van was comfortable and water was provided. The walks had some steepness, but certainly manageable. Good exercise! We would have appreciated a bit more commentary on sights we passed, history, etc as we were first time visitors to Auckland. All in all, we would recommend.
Mike did a fantastic job providing a detailed and in depth tour of volcanoes in and around Auckland. He not only provided a geological narrative but a historical one as well. It is without hesitation that a highly recommend this tour for individuals families and groups. You will not be disappointed.
Fantastic trip and Mike the guide was brilliant. Really knowledgeable and very easy to talk too. Met a lovely couple also on the trip. Would recommend to anyone.
Mike was a great guide - friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The water and sunscreen provided were a plus. We enjoyed the tour, the sights and got almost 10k steps in!
Despite a dreary day with scatterred showers, this tour was outstanding. Our guide, Mike. clearly is knowledgable and passionate regarding Auckland"s geology and Maori culture. The surrounding area of Auckland is stunning and the tour takes you out of the downtown area. We enjoyed our trip and learned much about NZ. It is definitely worth doing!
Mike gave us a einderttour. Great information. It was a pleasant day. Felt like we learned and saw a lot of Auckland. Definitely recommend!
An educational small group tour. Our guide and organiser Mike knew what he was talking about. He was patient and considerate in taking care of all participants. Despite a windy and wet day, the tour was enjoyable. The improvement I’d like to see is a more spacious car (leg room) especially if someone was required to fit into the very back seat of the car.
Loved this tour. So formative and knowledgeable guide Mike. I learned so much about Auckland's volcanoes and history. Beautiful views from top of Mount eden. Would recommend this tour.
What a great way to get out and about and see the real Auckland, and not just what the tour companies want you to see. The half day tour was a perfect way to spend a port day. Mike gave clear instructions on where to find him just a 5 minute walk from the ship and we were back in plenty of time to fit in some shopping before having to board again. Mike was a terrific guide - very knowledgeable about the area, and the geographical history of the city and the volcanoes we visited. On top of that he was genuinely interested in interacting with his passengers. It was so nice not simply listening to a scripted commentary from a bus driver. We got to see and walk along and inside five volcanoes, and get a real feel for the WOW factor of how this area has developed over thousands of years, and understand the unpredictability of what might happen at any time in the future. Definitely value for money and worth getting off the beaten track, away from bus trips... can highly recommend.
We toured 4 of the major volcanoes in Auckland with Mike. We learned that Mike is an engineer with a curious mind so he was very knowledgeable in sharing the history of the violent volcanoes that shaped current day Auckland. The tour tested our stamina with a few steep climbs, but getting to the summit was definitely worth it. The views were spectacular and learning about the Maori history along the way made this a very special tour that we recommend to everyone.
This tour is one to remember. Breathtaking 360° views of Auckland from several volcanoes, and learning a lot of interesting things about the unique geography of this place. Also comes with a knowledgeable and very nice tour guide.
