Varied experiences north of Auckland, including a unique sheep property, magnificent kauri forest, honey centre and some beautiful beaches.
This was a very charming tour and a bit off the beaten path. I booked it on a whim and I'm definitely happy that I did. We started out with the trip to the beautiful winter gardens in Auckland. Then we drove some lovely roads to Sheep World! This sheep farm destination is run by a fantastic organization that supports at risk youth in the Auckland area. We got to see some amazing sheepdogs in action and there's a lamb feeding experience as well. Beyond sheep, there were many happy and adorable farm animals (donkeys, alpacas, goats, and even an emu) for people of all ages to feed and admire. From there we traveled to a beautiful Kauri forest for a nice walk we also stopped at a couple of other lovely beach vistas before heading back to Auckland. Our guide was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable; it was great to learn more about the history of Auckland and go to a few places that are not on the normal tourist list! I highly recommend it.
It’s hands on, you can feed the animals so you participate in the activities. It’s for a good cause.
We had a great time exploring outside of Auckland with this tour and our wonderful guide for the adventure, Marama! Sheep World was a joy as well as all the all the other stops along the way, including the enveloping nature walk at Parry Kauri Park and the yummy stop at the honey center. It was lovely way to experience a more diverse sense of New Zealand without spending the whole day outside of Auckland. Marama was an excellent guide, friendly and personable as well as informative. The whole outing for a treat for the soul! Highly Recommend!!
Great tour. Marama was a fantastic tour guide, she added lots of information and was very personable. Sheep World was a lot more interesting and fun than we expected. Frankie did a great job explaining all things sheep. The stop in the forest was beautiful and the Honey bee stop was very well done, educational and interesting. Would highly recommend this tour.
This was a wonderful day. First timers for Aukland and ALAN did a good naration with questions and answers. The countryside was amazing. Sheepworld reminded me of my childhood with all the farm animals and feeding the lambs. Lunch was provided at Sheepland and also was very good. We would recomment it to anyone. Good day!
The brochure description didn’t describe all the lovely experiences, I went hoping I would watch the dogs round up the sheep, hoping the sheep shearing would actually happen, and hoping for lunch. I got all those things in aces, and my driver for the day was fantastic, knowledgeable and interesting. One of the best tour days I have ever had. I also really enjoyed the forest walk.
We used Coast To Coast Tours through Viator for this trip and they were absolutely amazing. Marama picked us up and gave us a tour of the most amazing villages and gardens. Her knowledge and personal experience made such a difference. Sheep World was the highlight and the best part of my 51 day vacation! If I ever return to Auckland, Coast to Coast will be the first call I make. We have had so many tour guides on this vacation (Australia, Fiji, NZ, etc), but none compare to Marama. I would absolutely recommend Coast to Coast Tours. Viator booking was easy to use and provided reminders.
A wonderful, fun experience that supports a good cause- helping children to be able to succeed in life. Our tour guide, Jennine, was great! She explained all about the organization and how the Sheep World farm and restaurant proceeds help to support the school there on the grounds and provide working skills and training. So many animals to see- sheep, a donkey, goats, alpacas, deer, emu, possums, pigs, rabbits, chickens, and the most adorable baby lambs! We got to cuddle with lambs that were 3 to 5 days old. The Sheep herding was fascinating watching the sheepdog work so fast to place the sheep where the farmer wanted them to go. We also saw a sheep shearing demonstration and got to feel how different a sheared sheep was to a wooly one. A fun day with side trips to a honey farm and a nice stroll through a botanical tree forest with huge Kauri trees. Our guide, Jennine was very knowledgeable and patient waiting for a part of our group that was delayed. A great time for kids and adults of all ages!
Absolutely wonderful experience! We had a great time seeing the animals and getting to watch the show
Fabulous tour. Our guide, Jose was absolutely delightful. She was warm, interesting, helpful, and enthusiastic. Sheep World was an excellent place to visit. We loved the sheep/dog show., feeding the animals, and hearing about the youth work. Highly recommend!
We spent a lovely day with our guide Marama who was very caring, cheerful and always ready to answer any question. First we saw Auckland Sensory Garden and then went to the Sheepworld. The farm is really worth seeing, you can learn about breeding sheep and how dogs can help with that work. Feeding the animals is really cool, not only for children :) We also took a walk in a beautiful scenery of Parry Kauri Park Walkway with stunning trees and plants. At the end we went to Honey Centre where we could taste (and buy) different kinds of honey, including mead. If you want to have a nice relaxing time with your family, I really recommend this trip.
The guide Jose was excellent. She made everyone feel comfortable. She checked on everyone all the time. Very pleasant and knowledgeable
We are glad to have Jennie as our tour guide! Jennie is a pleasant & knowledgeable guide who always with smiles, making our trip a safe and enjoyable one! I will highly recommend this tour to anyone.
Very relaxed and informative. Allan was polite and friendly. Saw and did more than expected. On time for pick-up and ending. Found ATM for us before ending tour was a plus!!
We were so fortunate to have Jennine as our tour guide and driver. I really appreciate the Coast to Coast company and the owner Peter to still operate our tour even though we were the only 2 people booked! Many other tour companies would have cancelled with only 2 people in 12 passenger van. Jennine was an amazing guide and we feel now she is a friend also! We had the best time at Sheep World, after a very interesting and informative stop at the Honey Centre in Warkworth, NZ. There was a live beehive inside behind glass and it’s fascinating to watch the bees and the queen in action. We are an older couple, and we so enjoyed Sheep World. It’s definitely a place for all ages, not just for children. The new little lambs were plentiful, and their cries to be fed are so special! We were able to hand feed them their bottles. It was great to see the dog round up the adult sheep with just a stare, and then the other dog barked loudly for them to enter the barn area. The inside show was so interesting to see them sheer a sheep fully and how fast they can do it. Outside, there are many other kinds of animals that you can feed a bag of food pellets too. Sheep World was a very clean place and it supports the young adults of the area who have jobs there. I also enjoyed the well stocked gift shop, and check out their collection of merino wool-possum sweaters. The countryside that we drive through is absolutely stunning and we stopped at a few more places. Jennine had so much to tell us about her beautiful country, and she was so kind and nice. She also had a great voice to listen to all day.
We had a very enjoyable trip. Gerry was an excellent tour guide and so friendly as well. Loved the story behind Sheep World!
Peter was a great guide and knew a great deal about the countryside in NZ. Sheepworld has a most beautiful mission-to help girls who come from families who have struggles and theses girls need guidance. They assist at the farm and learn many skills and patience. The show was just terrific.. and the animals
This was a great visit and show. We were glad to hear that it is also used as a troubled youth program. Nice job!
I was looking forward to seeing how they sheer sheep and that we did! We even learned how they tagged the sheep to identify their gender and age then got to help separate the sheep into different pens by their tags as they came running in. Allan was very knowledgeable about the history of Auckland and took us to see Kauri trees in a micro rainforest and a manuka honey farm on the way to the sheep farm! It was a very busy day!!
I did not go on a tour of Sheep World. My tour was cancelled because I was the only person in all of Auckland that day who wanted to see how sheep are sheared.
We really enjoyed the visit to Sheep World, the animals, and the sheep dog and sheep shearing demonstrations. The Springboard story should be retold and heard. We also liked the scenery on the drive there and back. However, the stop at the honey center was more like a sales stop, but no pushy salesman at all and it was only 10 minutes. We just had some hokey pokey ice screen and moved on, and spent more time stopping at various view points on the way back instead. The guide, Marama, was wonderful, kind, and very accommodating.
We had a great time. We had the excursion all to ourselves except for the guide snd and a trainee ( sorry I can’t remember names). They took us all over the place to unique adventures, as well as the fun Sheep World. Very educational there.
Our driver (ugh, I forgot her name!) was absolutely wonderful. We really loved Sheepworld and getting to see, pet and feed all the adorable animals. Watching the sheep shearing was quite the show, the handler had that thing fully shaved in under 2 mins. Amazing! Then, we went to a lovely nature preserve and had a little picnic in the forest and we got to walk along a lovely nature path which was a nice bonus because I though we were just doing a sheep farm. And then, since we had a bit of time, our driver drove us along the beautiful beaches outside of Auckland and even stopped so we could get a proper Tip Top ice cream come right on the beach. And best of all, my husband had tweaked his hip somehow and so she stopped at the drug store so I could get him a cane to help out. She really went about and beyond and made it a special day! Thank you so much!
It was a good experience and it was fun watching the dogs and sheep interact. It was not the most exciting tour I've ever taken, but my wife wanted to, so we did.
We are travelling as 2 families with small children. The whole experience is amazing We have the best tour guide Jose who’s very thoughtful and helpful in every way. We would recommend it to anyone who’s travelling to NZ! One of the best tours we have ever joined!
Was a great experience for the kids. Will definitely recommend to others who want to enjoy farm life with kids
What a ball of fur and fun. We took the small group tour and it ended up being the four of us which is always great. Our guide was a hoot and gave us tons of history and stopped at different places because we had the time. That happens when everyone is back to the van on time. We happened to be there with a ton of preschoolers and it was so fun to see their reaction. Loved watching the dogs with the sheep and the shearing>.DId a great nature walk also and visited the Winter Gardens.
One of the best tours you can get it when you are in Auckland. Our guide was so kind and organized in the tour.
We had a great day out with Janine! She is kind, flexible, and showed us some great sites in the country. Her recommendation for lunch was also fantastic!
Excellent tour! Great tour guide and wonderful trip! Beautiful scenery with a very knowledgeable guide.
We had a wonderful trip travelling with the “Coast to Coast Tour Limited” today. Mr. Allan was a very cautious driver to drive carefully on the road although the weather was a bit foggy and the view was a bit misty on the road. We enjoyed feeding all kinds of animals such as the roaster, the hens, the sheep, the rabbits and the deers when we reached the farm. And we had a good walk in the forestry park seeing the 600 years old Kauri Tree. The walk was certainly helpful in our digestion after having a heavy lunch of chicken burger with chips. And we had seen a very good scenario along the seaside and the waterfront and there were many yachts parking at the harbour of Auckland. It was a pleasant journey travelling with the “Coast to Coast Tour Limited” together with Mr. Allan who was very good in introducing and explaining to us the interesting places that we had visited.
Great way to get a feel for farming near to the city. People of all ages enjoyed getting up close to and feeding all the animals and there are several different varieties.
Wonderful tour with Allan as our tour guide. The van was modern, clean and comfortable. Loved seeing not only Sheep World but also interesting commentary as we drove. Learned so much from the sheep show. This is a 'must see' don't miss it. Allan was very accommodating.
Wonderful day. As we are off season mid week it was just the two of us. Our guide was warm, wonderful and accomodated our preferences. Lovely way to see the countryside. The walk through the forest was peaceful and cleansing.
Kia Ora! My best friend along with our husbands celebrated our birthdays and enjoyed the Sheep World Country Tour. Our tour guide/operator, Peter was so gracious and accommodating throughout our tour. Driving through the country side was so serene that it melted all our stresses away. Our first stop at the Honey Centre was fascinating. Never knew so many products can be made out of honey with great health benefits! We bought jars for all our family members. Next stop was at Sheep World. We loved feeding the various animals and found the sheep dogs and sheep shearing show very educational. Knowing that our contributions also helps with supporting young people made it so much more meaningful. Our tour took us to a chocolate shop, beautiful beaches and we also took a stroll to a park to see the Kauri trees. Throughout the tour, Peter was very knowledgeable and informative. This experience will always be a memorable one for me. Peter, thank you so much for your hospitality. P.S. the lion tamer.... lol!
Great trip for nature and animal lovers! Our tour guide Jose wend above and beyond to make sure we had a great time. She is knowledgable and passionate about New Zealand's flora, fauna, and culture. We visited multiple places, traveled in minivan new and comfortable with small group of 6. Sheep world was so much fun as we learned about sheep farming and watch sheep shearing. Thanks.
It was a great experience! :-) Fantastic tour guide! Nice day! I recommend this tour! Thanks a lot for this amazing day!
This small group touring is the best. Gave us a real insight to lifestyle of the Kiwis, sheep farming and the local fauna. Our tour guide, Joey was the best. Took time to explain what we were seeing and very attentive to our needs.
We had a great time visiting the gardens and Sheep World. Jose was a great guide and gave us insight into New Zealand during our tour. The animals were fun and the staff was entertaining at Sheep World. Lunch at the pottery factory was an added treat. The route we took was very scenic and we had a great group of fellow travellors.
The fact that we didn’t get anything that we paid for. No show at Sheep World! More of a “petting zoo” experience. They took us to a couple of wineries, one that couldn’t accommodate us so we drove to another. I didn’t sign up for a winery tour! 7+ hours in a rented driven by an 80 year old guy who didn’t communicate with us about what was happening.
Our guide Jose from Coast to Coast was fantastic! She was friendly, knowledgeable and has a great sense of humour. We had a great time with her.
Highly recommended! This is by far the best tour I have ever been on. Jose is an excellent guide, who made all of us feel so at home. Knowledgeable, friendly and with a great sense of humour (talk cock haha)! Lawrence
We had a great day with Jose "yo-say" (took me a while to get that right). Sheepworld was not only a sheep dog and shearing show, but had a substantial animal farm full of friendly critters to feed. Jose also took us to some scenic lookouts, a Kauri (NZ tree) park walk and a wonderful lunch cafe near a local potter's workshop and showroom.
This was definitely an amazing tour made even more amazing by our wonderful tour guide Janine, who did everything to ensure we had the most wonderful experience. We started at the Domain Wintergardens which are so compact and beautiful and the photos you can take there are amazing. We then visited Sheep World Tour which is run by women. We got to watch a live demonstration of how the sheep are hearded up and sheared. We also got to feed all the animals which was incredibly special. From there Janine organised us a wine tasting and lunch at Omaha Bay Winery which was perfect for the size group we had. It was intimate and we enjoyed a delicious antipasto platter. We then went and sampled chocolates and honey from around the area which was awesome and everyone bought lots of things. We also visited Parry Kauri and went for a walk in the rainforest which was mystical and beautiful. So I would definitely recommend this tour, and if you are truly lucky you will get Janine.
Me and My wife enjoy very much all the places our excellent tour guide Jannine took us. So beatiful nature. It was really interesting to visit a sheepfarm and get more information about what happends there and how they work.
A wonderful tour! Peter and Jennine helped us do everything we wanted in 1 day in the beautiful New Zealand countryside. It was our best day and the best tour of our 2 week cruise. We loved that it was a small minivan and a small group, and that Peter was able to work with our ship's schedule while in port and pick us up right at the terminal. Everyone was friendly and got along well. We did the Sheep and Dog Show, wine tasting, chocolate tasting, honey tasting, and a bush hike. Loved it all!
Sheep world was in the best stopover spot on our roadtrip from Paihia to Heihei. We didn't visit during a tour or sheepshearing show, but we were the only people for awhile on the property which was quite nice. My son loved every minute of it. Truthfully, coming from the states, it was a small farm/petting zoo but overall the staff was super friendly and we enjoyed feeding the animals. There was a good variety of animals as well. We would go back again.
LOVED our time at Sheep World! Entertaining shearing show (the dogs were particularly awesome) and sweet, endearing creatures (sheep, alpacas, goats, emus, and more!) who loved the treats and pets. A must-see if you’re in Auckland.
