What a great experience. The Maori people were such welcoming and the Spa was freaking awesome. Our driver Jaime was super awesome.

We had an excellent experience on our Rotorua day tour. Jason was incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the day. He took the time to explain the history and background of each attraction, and his introductions made the sites much more engaging and memorable. His warm personality and thoughtful guidance really enhanced our visit — we felt well taken care of and learned so much along the way. Highly recommend this tour and Jason as a guide!
I had a wonderful experience in Rotorua today, and I would especially like to compliment Aaron. He was an excellent guide — very professional, friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout the entire day. He made sure everything went smoothly from beginning to end and was always very considerate of our comfort and experience. We visited some beautiful places, enjoyed amazing views, and Aaron’s knowledge and attention made the whole tour even more enjoyable. I was very impressed with his service and genuinely appreciated the way he conducted the tour. Please pass along my compliments and thanks to him. He did an outstanding job and represented Expedigo extremely well. Thank you again for a great experience!
Very comfortable, and enjoyable trip. Amazing experience. We had a privilege to design this tour as most relaxing one
I attend this as solo and it really was an excellent trip - Jason, our guide, was very well organised and pick up was exactly to time as was the whole day. The tour size was very intimate, just ten of us, and much of the day could be self-guided to take things are your own pace. The experience of the vents and then the Māori Village was truly amazing, some breathtaking views. The cultural show was incredible and the tour around the village was amazing - I ended up being the only one of the tour and so it felt extra special and I great appreciated the opportunity to learn about Māori culture from a Guide with ancestral roots in doing the same. Overall, an incredible experience and cannot recommend it enough - well worth the money and I just hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
We had a wonderful time on this tour. Our driver, Matt, was friendly and genuine. All staff at the village were warm and welcoming. Our tour guide at the village was extremely knowledgeable about the village and the Māori culture. We learned so much and it will never be forgotten.
It was a nice tour of the village, geothermal area and the culture of the people. The live performance of the dances is good.
Mum and I had a beautiful day walking around the village , and our driver Wayne stop to show us the hot mud spots ,
This was an amazing cultural experience! Loved the Māori village! Also loved the geothermal park too. Then to top it off the just Jaime was the perfect mix of showmanship and humility 😊
was very well organized, We had a great tour guide who added personal insights that made it a full experience. it was very infomative. We loved the performance at the end!
Our day trip to Rotorua, including visits to the Maori Village and the Polynesian Spa, was thoroughly enjoyable. Our guide, Jaime, was truly exceptional. He was very informative and incredibly accommodating, consistently ensuring everyone's comfort and well-being. He brought smiles to everyone's faces. He kept us well-informed about the schedule and upcoming activities. The entire tour was outstanding. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in experiencing Rotorua. Thank you for making this trip possible. Regards, Anda & Jay-R
Picked up early . Tour to Māori village learning about the culture and resilience of the people was great Wai o tapu was amazing seeing the sulphur emission from the craters and hot pools . Both a must do. Our guide on April 6 th 2026 was amazing. He Ensured our safety and made sure we got back on tour in a timely manner.
This is an ORIGINAL VILLAGE, with actual tribes people living in it. Buildings are original and old. You get a great sense of the passion the Māori people have for their culture and sharing about it. The “other tour” or village is just built for commercial use to sell to tourists. But thie experience is TRUE and with original buildings. I highly recommend this TRUE to the Māori people tour. My tour guides Mother was born in this village and his father was from a tribe at a different village. He was humorous, humble and had a vast amount of knowledge. The ceremony with the traditional Haka song and dance was AMAZING! I LOVE watching the Rugby Haka performances before each match, but it was moving for them to give the explanation and story behind it. Especially why it’s important to stick the tongue out. Lol The love song they sang after was so beautiful that it brought me to tears. Great singing voices and moving love story…I’m surprised Disney hasn’t picked up this story and made an animated movie! LOVE THE VILLAGE, can’t wait to come back and eat some more fresh made corn from the streaming pools. Best made corn!
The village experience was stellar! It is a must do! Our driver for the day was terrible. When told we couldn’t hear him in the back of the van, he said he couldn’t use the microphone and we were going to see the sites which is what we paid for. He was very disorganized with our schedules and stopped randomly. The spa was beautiful but the staff checking us in was rude and unhelpful. Just not giving us enough information as we arrived. We saw other groups getting a pre-tour and explanation of the pools, but we were told nothing. It was also unclear how to choose which experience of those listed. We thought we would get to choose our activities from the description, but were told we were assigned to the spa. Would have love to see redwoods.
Highly recommend it! We did the live maori village with spa and they were both excellent. The tour driver was knowledgeable and seemed to know the area well, he was also very informative. Plan to stay a couple days in Rotorua to truly enjoy the experience. The drive was long and we felt rushed being there only for a few hours, wished we had more time to explore. Overall, one of the highlights of our trip.
It's a long day!! Meeting at 6:00 am. Matt was our driver. He was very engaging giving us on going commentary as we drove for almost three hours to get to the village. His headset microphone was muffled and the clarity of what he was saying suffered. That's about the only negative. The village is a living working real community which my husband and I found delightful. You really see the people and how they have created their homes by adapting to their environment of the steam spewing volcanic activity for cooking, bathing and everyday activities. There was beautiful presentation of the Maori culture through their songs and dance. Before heading to the village, we stopped at an area where the pools of volcanic magma flow. You can hear the roar coming from the inner earth and see the volcanic action that has been happening for millions of years. Amazing!! My husband and I give it two thumbs up. Just be prepared for a very long day.
We have done many tours over the last two weeks and this was by far the most enjoyable! David was a very great host, full of interesting stories!
It was a long day, but we had such a good time! We met at 5.40 am (!) and got back about 6.15 pm. The van was very clean and comfortable enough for a few hours ride. Communication with Expedigo NZ was great. Jason, our driver, was super punctual, friendly and a fantastic driver. We made a couple of stops on the way to Rotorua and one on the way back. This village is the only living village and the tour we had was very informative and fun. The dance performance was great. We learned a lot about the Maori history and our guide was fantastic.
My parents and I truly enjoyed every moment and had a lovely time throughout the day. Jason's kindness, professionalism and positive attitude made the experience even more special. We especially appreciated how he looked after everyone in the group and ensured that we were comfortable, informed and enjoying ourselves at all times. Jason's knowledge and enthusiasm brought the tour to life and it was clear that he genuinely care about all guests, this one day trip will remain a beautiful memory for us! We were very happy with Jason's excellent guidance and warm hospitality! 💗 Lu Yuan 27 Feb 2026
Enjoyed the tour around the Maori village. The Tour Guide was very informative and explained the history of the thermal pools and how her people used the pools for cooking, bathing etc. We ate corn cooked in one of the pools and it was delicious. Admission was expensive for the length of the tour.
This tour was great value for your buck. David from Expedigo was a great guide and provided great commentary and stories! We did the Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland by ourselves (about an hour) where we saw the champagne pool and the devil's bath). We also did a guided Māori cultural experience tour at the Wakarewarewa village - learnt a lot of the people, history and got to eat corn made in the hot pools! David was also kind enough to do some additional stops (e.g. Waiotapu mudpools). Tour operator also had good conmunication and answered questions prior to the trip & around the time of pick-up. Would recommend :)
Loved this tour! The driver was knowledgeable and friendly! We got to see the culture of New Zealand.
We were in a group of 10 from a variety of countries. Our driver/guide Matt told us about different areas of Auckland as we drove through the countryside. We learned some Māori words, prefixes and suffixes. And we learned some Māori history and culture. The guided tour through the Māori village was fascinating, and the performance was entertaining. We then took a short hike through a beautiful redwood forest followed by lunch in the town and the ride back to our hotel.
Our tour went really well . We are very happy that we did it . Everything was well organised and our tour guide Aaron was excellent. Thank you .
This was an amazing experience!! I appreciated that it had different options within one booking as it accommodated multiple people. Aaron did a great job of dropping everyone off and picking them up at the appropriate times and locations. Boris was riding with us and the two of them did an awesome job of answering all of our questions. I can’t recommend them enough!
Pleasant and great experience guided by Dinesh in this 12hrs tour (Te Puia Geothermal Park + Haka - Maori Cultural Experience + Kiwi Conservation Center). Dinesh is friendly, attentive to the group of diverse travelers. He fit comfortably the main stops and further brought us to wonderful view of Redwoods tree walk and Blue Springs all within the 12hrs. We had a great time.
Geo thermal geysers and flow is an amazing view of nature. Ceremonial event provides insight in the indigenous people. Don’t forget the elevated walkway in the redwood forest
David was a great tour guide, he shared lots of great information along the journey to our destinations. All the stops were incredible too.
Tour was so fun and intriguing. Loved seeing the culture and soaking in the spa. David our guide was so amazing. He was so nice and considerate and very caring and accommodating. 100% recommend this tour!
What a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Aaron our guide was amazing, very kind and helpful. He was very knowledgeable about all things New Zealand. This activity is a MUST when in New Zealand. Thanks Aaron!
Maori village was very interesting. Young Chief guide was most passionate and knowledgeable. Very kind and informative tour. Maori HOKA presentation was Excellent!
The Rotorua Māori Village tour was truly a highlight of our trip, made even better by our wonderful guide, Jason. His calm, easygoing nature and wealth of knowledge made the journey enjoyable and informative, especially when it came to the local wildlife and beautiful scenery. We were especially moved by the visit to the Living Māori Village. Daniel's passion and deep understanding of Māori traditions, customs, and everyday life brought everything to life in such a meaningful way. He helped us gain a new appreciation for the respectful and harmonious way the Māori people live with the land. Although we’ve been to Yellowstone in the U.S., the Thermal Wonderland here was something entirely different—and completely unforgettable. We highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a rich cultural experience paired with stunning natural beauty.
Long bus ride from Auckland but Matt, our guide, keep us entertained. Great tour at the village and lunch in town. Highly recommended!
Had so much fun! I went on the Redwoods treewalk which was so beautiful. John, my driver, had lots of great stories to share
What an amazing experience! From seeing the surrounding areas of utter beauty, to the geysers and especially the celebration and tour within the village, it’s a must do for any travelers to New Zealand. I believe everyone walked away from the village trip both highly informed and thankful we were welcomed and experienced such beauty of culture, art and history. Kia Ora.
Jason was an amazing tour guide. Aside from being a safe and careful driver he also pointed out interesting sites along the way. The Māori village tour is a must do. We learned so much in an hour from “Chief” our village guide that would’ve taken us a long time to research. Tasting a piece of corn cooked from the hot springs was a bonus. Needless to say the performance by the Māori dancers was the highlight of the tour. Thanks again Jason for the snacks and bottled water you provided.
First time in New Zealand and I picked one of the best tours I ever done! Great staff, always updating when something happened and a fantastic experience and show in the Maori village. A most I'd say if you have not experienced a Haka show before.
Tour was very well organized. Our guide Alfredo very knowledgeable and funny. We got free snacks and water. The car was spotless and very comfortable. Waiotapu and the Maoiri village Whakarewarewa were both stunning. Even though it‘s a long drive and day, it’s totally worthwhile going.
I absolutely loved this tour! The Maori village we visited was educational and exciting, and the geothermal landscape was unlike anything I have ever seen! I feel so lucky to have picked this village once I learned that this is the only Maori village built on a geothermal hotspot. My husband and I also chose the Redwood walk instead of the Polynesian spa and loved it. We enjoyed a 40 minute canopy walk on hanging bridges. It was magical! Our tour guide, Matt, was kind, funny, and attentive. This trip should not be missed if you are visiting Auckland!
Our guide Jason was well versed and kept us informed all the way. He was helpful, cheerful and obliging. Jason deserves 10/10.
Had an amazing time. The tour guide JJ was so kind and welcoming. The village tour was spectacular. The Polynesian spa was also 10/10. I wish I had more time. Great experience
I had an excellent experience on the tour led by our guide, J.J. If I return to Auckland and seek a tour in the future, I will certainly choose Expedigo again. J.J. was particularly friendly and demonstrated a strong commitment to accommodating our needs throughout the tour.
Amazing experience picked Māori Village and Wai o Tapu. Wai O tapu was amazing and memorable, and not just for the sulfur like smell lol. Amazing pictures and truly memorial experience. Māori village Haka experience and tour of village also very memorable. Huzefa amazing tour guide and def made the experience more memorable.
If you have time while in Auckland this small group tour was the best. Our guide/driver, Matt, picked my husband and promptly at 6:45am from our hotel in a very clean Mercedes van. We picked up four others and proceeded to Whakarewarewa the Living Māori Village which was about a 2 ½ drive, but Matt made two pit stops for us along the way, one was a rest area that had food and coffee to go and the other was Tirau, a funky spot that has corrugated metal artwork. We drove by Lake Rotorua and then proceeded to the Whakarewarewa Māori Village where we joined a group guided by Jesse, a resident and guide of Whakarewarewa and Jesse’s trusty sidekick, his dog, Jax. What a fascinating place. Definitely try the corn on the cob that is cooked in the hot springs. Jesse shared many personal stories of his childhood growing up in Whakarewarewa and he ended his tour by singing to us. We finished our visit at the Village with a Māori performance of song and dance; yes it included a riveting Haka. We noshed on Hangi Pies (not included) for lunch and then Matt had us set off to the Waitomo Glowworm Caves. It was about a 2 hour drive, but so well worth it. Experiencing the caves and seeing the glowworms illuminate the caves was mind blowing. Our guide at the caves was Sasha, who informed us he was relatively new at being a guide, but he did a fabulous job - he sang at a part of the cave where the acoustics were pristine - just so we could experience it. Upon the completion of that tour and a visit to the gift shop, Matt, drove us back to Auckland and to our hotel. He knowledge of the areas we traveled is appreciated and we could not have a more pleasant experience. The whole tour took 12 ½ hours - but we would do it again in a heartbeat!
Wonderful trip! There was a minor hiccup at the start, where they had booked me onto the wrong set of activities but this was sorted out really quickly and the rest of the trip went very smoothly. Our driver/ guide Paul was great and very knowledgable!
This was a great tour very informative and lots to see, loved the living Māori village with hot springs, mud pools and cultural show plus redwood forests. our driver Paul was fantastic and very knowledgeable. All in all great tour in a comfortable Van
It was an amazing day the whole experience a driver was very professional explained everything and very accommodating. Highly recommend this street to anybody specially if you get to be with Matt..
Great experience, positive and flexible guides worked hard to get us everywhere right on time while not rushing anything. Whole experience was very laid back while I didn’t feel like I missed out on any experience. Except for the other glowing reviews from those on the bus. Most negative I can say is that it is a long ride on the minibus, but totally manageable.
excellent tour!! the guide was the nicest and the whole visit was amazing. i am never frogetting the haka presentation which was one of the best experiences i have ever had. the views were breath taking too and everything was well explained.
Jason was a great tour guide for the day. Our tour at the Māori village was also excellent. We met some nice guests on the trip. You may want to include in your into of the excursion, physical requirements to view and the various geothermal points along the way.
