This is our first time engaging ExperienceKart for a guided tour to Mitai Village and Waiotapu Thermal and we had nothing but a blast! We were greeted by our super friendly tour guide, Mr Karthik at the meeting point and he put us all at ease from the get go. He was such a gem, providing us with nuggets of information all through our drive from Auckland hotel to Rotorua and his enthusiasm kept us all engaged on the tour. The tour van was super comfortable and came with foldable tables for us to eat our snacks and breakfast in the van. We highly recommend Mr Karthik and his company for anyone interested in this tour and we will definitely come back for more!

Bombay Means: a breed of black short-haired medium-sized cat.

We will also pass through the unique town of Tirau (the corrugated iron sculpture capital of the world) known for its antique shops and animal-shaped corrugated iron buildings.

The amazing cultural performance will teach you about the ancient arts of carving and ta moka (tattoo art), while the weaponry and combat displays will make you understand why the Māori are considered such fearsome warriors. You will be amazed at the level of emotion such a simple sight will cause – it’s truly amazing and spine tingling! Buffet, the delicious mouthwatering traditional hangi food with distinctive flavours and unique preparation of the Māori People cooked in an earth-oven, a hole 1-2m into the ground, the baskets of kai (food) are placed on hot stones at the bottom of a hāngī pit. Experience a sacred and spiritual place that offers you an authentic indigenous cultural experience like no other.
Our second destination is Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland, one of New Zealand’s most colourful and diverse geothermal area. Thousands of Years in the Making and "One of the 20 Most Surreal Places in the World". This stunning landscape is nestled within a natural bush setting through which self-guided walks take between 45 and 90 minutes. With a colourful experience we carry our memories way back to Auckland.

Karthik does a wonderful job on his tours. This the second time we booked with him. He’s knowledgeable and flexible to meet the needs of his passengers.
Kia Ora. Outstanding! Karthik was a wonderful host and tour guide. So kind and knowledgeable. We really enjoyed our experience, it was the highlight of our NZ trip. Will definitely be back and looking for Karthik to show us more. We were a bit hesitant to go on a tour, but it was so worth it, Karthik educated us so well, a 5 star review doesn't do him justice, should be 10! Also, to be noted, we felt really comfortable and safe travelling with him, what a great driver! (And I am a renowned terrible passenger!!) Thanks so much Karthik, well be back! Shane & Alana from Aus.
The Māori experience was educational, fun and interactive. I’m a First Nation Ojibwe woman from Ontario Canada and there are similarities in our cultures and beliefs. The feast of traditional Māori food was delicious. The interesting features like the champagne pool, craters and blowholes and rock formations in the geothermal area was something I’d never experienced. Karthik has a wealth of knowledge that he gladly shares with the group. Karthik’s driving skills focused on safety for us all.
EVERYTHING about this tour was 10/10. I was very moved with the Mitai Maori Village demonstrations/performances and the lunch was better than i expected! I was hesitant to sign up for the Wai-o-tupa geothermal tour but my husband and I are SO GLAD we did it! We didn’t have much time at the Agrodome sheep farm but it was still very interesting. Our guide, Karthik, was very professional & friendly! His vehicle was clean & comfortable for the long ride (equipped with wifi) and he shared a wealth of knowledge about NZ. He takes great photos too!
Excellent. Our guide,Karthik showed much knowledgeable acumen and experience and shared many intriguing facts about the places that we passed by,helping us to understand what was going on and gain a deeper appreciation of the places we went to.He shared many things on the topic of geography and history of New Zealand, particularly the volcanoes and history of the Māori as well.
Kart is a great guide. He provides a lot of information about New Zeland nature and the places we visit. Excelente experience with him in small group.
Amazing tour guide Karthik, very knowledgeable in the history and geography of New Zealand.
Our trip to the Mitai Māori Village and Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland was perfect. The cultural insights at the village were captivating, and the geothermal activity with its colourful pools and surreal, lunar-like environment was absolutely intriguing. The entire tour was a fantastic experience, made even better by our guide, Karthik. He was incredibly friendly, dedicated, and entertaining, offering impressive expertise.
Highly recommend you request Karthik as your tour guide. He provided excellent information during the trip that made the 3 ride both enjoyable and educational. The Māori performance was quite entertaining as the performers and hosts gave an authentic show. And, the FOOD! Served buffet style, was quite plentiful and tasty. The trip to the Waitipi geothermal park was very fascinating. I just wish the photos could provide the true “aromas” we experienced! LOL. Even though the ride out and back was three hours each way, it was well worth it! Overall, I highly recommend this tour and Karthik as your guide.
I joined a trip with Marty in Rotorua, visiting the Māori village and then the geothermal site. The guide was approachable and friendly, and shared some interesting history about New Zealand. The food at the Māori village was very tasty, and the haka performance was both informative and deeply cultural, which I really enjoyed. At Wai-O-Tapu, we got a good view of the various geothermal features. The strong sulfur smell was noticeable, and since time was limited we could only follow one route. It was also quite hot, but still an impressive experience. The air conditioning on the bus wasn’t working very well, and at times the guide spoke a bit too fast, which made it harder to follow. Otherwise, it was a good experience overall.
Karthik was an excellent guide. He is extremely knowledgeable. I strongly recommend him .
The tour was amazing. Staring with the Mitai Village, the show great. The group is taken around the historical village and sacred springs to see how the ancient tribe lived and learn some of the history of the navmtive Maori. Then, the family puts on a wonderful show full of haka, dances, weapon demonstrations and music with traditional instruments. Finally, you sit down for a yummy lunch buffet. The geothermal area was also fun. It was crazy to see how the activity cratered the area and how the different mineral deposits in each area made the rock walls of each sinkhole and the waters and muds of each bubbling pool different. None of the trails are too difficult, though there are lots of stairs in the last area. I'm glad the weather held out long enough for us to experience everything.
Our tour guide, Karthik, was fantastic! While our drive was long, it was expected, and he had information on every aspect of our trip pertaining to the areas we passed through in New Zealand. We first went to Rotorua for the Mitai, Māori, cultural experience. This included Māori dances along with a visit to an authentic Māori village. That was followed by a delicious buffet. After this, we drove to the geothermal pools and the mud pits. Both were wonderful and exciting to see. Alas our tour was over and we had to head back to Auckland. We booked this through our hotel and it was well worth the expense. There are many, many things to see and do in Auckland and its surrounding locals, but this was a great trip. My wife and I highly recommend this.
Our trip from downtown Auckland to Rotorua was nice and smooth. Our driver/guide, Karthik, was very knowledgeable and provided detailed information about New Zealand the country, its geography, geothermal activities around rotorua. Our stop at a Māori village , including lunch, was very pleasant. The walk in Waiotapu thermal park was great. Overall, we had a nice time.
I came with my wife from Spain to visit New Zealand. This is the first tour we did and Im not sure if we will get anything better. I would give it a 10/10. We spent the whole day doing activities, the guide was explaining every detail from the beginning to the end. The vehicle we were travelling in was extremely comfortable. Perfect temperature and comfy seats. Not many people on it. It was all very dynamic and fun. Cant say a negative word. Loved the Maori dances.
I recently took the Rotorua Cultural & Geothermal Tour with Karthik from Experience Kart, and it was fantastic! We visited bubbling mud pools, hot springs, and stunning geothermal landscapes, plus enjoyed authentic Māori performances. The drive from Auckland to Rotorua was beautiful, and Karthik made the trip even better with his deep knowledge of New Zealand’s culture and history. He handled everything smoothly and kept us comfortable with drinks and snacks. This tour was a perfect mix of iconic sights and hidden gems. Highly recommend Karthik for an unforgettable experience in New Zealand
What a great trip it was for me and my friends. We visited Arataki Cultural and Heritage Visitor Centre then Piha, the black sand beach. The beautiful landscapes of the Waitakere Ranges was breathtaking. And finishing our day with a sumptuous meal at a winery what can I say. Genuinely the trip was very unique and a memorable one for us. All made possible by experienceKart. The van provided was very spacious and comfortable, plenty of room to stretch our legs and ample space for our belongings. Back up snacks and water at every stop and not forgetting the luxury of having free WiFi all the way. Karthik himself was very punctual, on time every stop as per the plan. Had a wealth of information about the cultural and historical aspects of country Aotearoa to share. Highly recommend to everyone the services of ExperienceKart. Many thanks to you Karthik for the dedication and passion you have in making every trip joyful and unique. Please keep doing so. Satish Brisbane.
I had the pleasure of taking the Rotorua cultural and geothermal tours with the tour guide Karthik from Experience Kart. We visited multiple bubbling mud pools, hot springs and geothermal landscapes. Also witnessed Māori traditional performances, engaged in traditional geothermal cooking methods to name a few. The weather was fantastic and very good scenery all through our drive to and from Auckland to Rotorua. I was honored to have Karthik chauffeur us for this tour as he himself is a encyclopedia of his own with in-depth knowledge and kept us informed all through. He possesses comprehensive knowledge of New Zealand Geography and culture, Māori heritage, and architectural evolution. He is also experienced in managing group dynamics, handling unexpected situations like weather changes, and coordinating with tour venues and restaurant for our lunch break. He also had bottled water, canned juices and snacks in the vehicle to keep us well fed to and from tour. What particularly attracted me to Rotorua cultural and geothermal tours were both the iconic landmarks and hidden gems of our spectacular bubbling hot mud pools. Thank you, Karthik, for your passion for creating unique, memorable experiences that go beyond typical sightseeing. I strongly recommend anyone and everyone, Karthik’s guiding expertise, cultural knowledge, and multilingual capabilities that can contribute to Tours continued success in creating unforgettable visitor experiences………………………..Rajesh Lal…. The Rotorua Cultural and Geothermal Small Group Tour with ExperienceKart was incredible! The Māori cultural performance and traditional hangi meal gave a genuine insight into New Zealand’s heritage, while the geothermal wonders at Wai-O-Tapu were simply breathtaking. The small group size made the experience personal and stress-free, and our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate. Everything was well-organized, from the scenic drive to the thoughtful touches like bottled water. A perfect mix of culture, nature, and comfort — highly recommended!
Karthik was a gracious tour guide who provided lots of information and facts about the area, the geology, and the history. He was an excellent tour guide who was very friendly, kept great time, and made the experience very pleasant for us.
The trip (Rotorua Cultural & Geothermal Small Group Tour From Auckland) exceeded my expectations. It was simply wonderful! Every single aspect of it made this memorable experience. In our small group, we visit a Maori village, including I walk in the forest, Springs and village guided by the most knowledgable and kind Māori relative. That was followed by a cultural show. We then visited geothermal sites, which were beyond fabulous. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. The vehicle we travelled in was luxurious and the drive, smooth and full of beautiful vistas. I would definitely recommend this trip; thank you very much! I hope to take future trips with this company.
The tour guide’s enthusiasm and positive attitude was incredible. You are on the road on the way to the Maori for close to three hours. He used the time to share pertinent geologic and historic information. His focus on the volcanic aspects of the island was fascinating as was the geothermal section of the tour. The Māori section was as expected, but well done. (The food exceeded expectations.) The Māori guide was very generous with his time in a question and answer period. I highly recommend this tour.
A rich all day experience with a safe, knowledgeable tour guide and driver. Come with an open mind to absorb the beauty of the Maori culture. Kia ora!!
I joined the “Rotorua Cultural & Geothermal Experience” day trip and was genuinely impressed. Our guide Karthik was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and really made the day special with all the insights he shared. The tour itself is a perfect mix of culture and stunning geothermal attractions. You get a great introduction to Māori traditions while exploring some of Rotorua’s most beautiful geothermal sites. Everything was well organized, on time, and super smooth. An amazing trip that I can highly recommend!
Karthik was amazing! He was so knowledgeable and friendly! Wonderful experience! Would highly recommend him and this tour! Karthik was attentive to our needs throughout the entire tour.
Great experience with a great tour guide! Thank you Karthik - learnt so much while we were with him. Would definitely recommend.
Absolutely brilliant experience with a very informative Guide Karthik. I learned so much about the flora and fauna of the areas visited. Also a lot of history about the Māori people
Rotorua experience was very good. It was great to learn about the Maori culture and the meal was delicious. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. The geothermal tour was certainly worth a visit. We only did the shorter tour around the grounds and that was definitely enough. A long drive each way to and from Auckland but a good day out.
Great experience at both venues, easy travel experience in provided accommodations. Incredibly knowledgeable and friendly tour guide.
