This was one of took two tours with Expedigo - this was with our excellent tour guide/driver Matt, who was so nice and friendly. This tour was hands down our favorite. Seeing the magical movie village of the Hobbits come to life was incredible. Visiting inside a hobbit house, drinking at the Green Dragon, and just being able to walk around the absolutely beautiful village grounds of this working sheep farm was a truly beautiful trip. Highly recommend!!

Fantastic trip! Even the rainy weather couldn’t quell the enjoyment of seeing Hobbiton in person - and our tour guide David was wonderful, super cool to hear all about the north island on our drive down to Hobbiton from a local.

What an awesome day! Coming from someone that has never seen a Lord of the Rings movie, that’s huge! We had the best driver (Deane) who was so great at his job and just a great guy in general. The perfect way to see the countryside and even stopped for ice cream on the way back. I would recommend this to anyone and any age.

We originally booked a combo tour thru Expedia for Hobbiton & Rotorua Māori Village with Lunch from Auckland. Unfortunately, due to we were the only ones who booked this, our tour did not meet the minimum amount of travellers. Fatema, reached out to me early in the week to inform me of our options. She was very detailed and timely. We chose to go with Hobbiton only since we already had plans. On the tour day, Deane, our driver drove us to and from Hobbiton movie set (it's a 2+ hour drive one way). Deane was punctual, informative, and professional. He didn't rush us and we took the appropriate amount of restroom and coffee breaks throughout the day. Once at the Hobbiton movie farm, another tour guide takes over. It was a perfect day with enough sun during our tour. Thank you for providing us a very memorable day. We would choose Expedigo Tours again! Tour tip: Don't worry if it rains. Expedigo and Hobbiton has loaner umbrellas.

9th April. Great day out, Wayne our driver was superb, very helpful, punctual & very informative about the area en route. Pick up after tour as stated & drop off at Hobbiton was as close as possible due to the rain. A must visit even if you're not a Tolkien/Hobbit fan. Note, the payment was in $US so higher than I expected when checking my bank statement

The 44 hobbit holes were fantastic and the hobbit house we toured was incredibly detailed. I wanted to move in! This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Thank you!

Hobbiton Movie Tour was really cool - but transport by Expedigo Tours to location was cramped and uncomfortable. Our driver was an excellent safe driver and personable - but the actual transport in the sprinter Van for the 2+ hour drive was very cramped. They crammed in too many seats across 4 across vs. 2 and 2 configuration. The AC wasn't working well either too cold in the back and hot in the front. I always opt for small group tours - but for Hobbiton Movie set it really isn't necessary - you can take big comfortable tour bus to the location or look for small group tours with fewer seats or different configuration. At the Movie set they break you into smaller groups and put you on a medium sized tour bus to take you out to the movie set/farm for the actual tour so you're with a slightly larger group than you came with anyway.

Wonderful experience! The enthusiasm of our guide, Joe, really encouraged us to immerse ourselves into the world of Middle Earth.

This was a great tour. Its a 2+ hour drive from Aukland, but well worth the sitting if a LOR fan. It truly is a small group tour, with only 8 including us in the vam. It's the original site but NOT necessarily the original movie set, which was mostly torn down after teh film was completed. Our tour guide took the longer road in to HB so that we got a feel of the countryside that HT is nestled in, and on the way back took us on a short diversion across a notable dam. The guide was new on the job and couldn't get the headset to work, so we didn't get much information as we drove through the countryside but he was very pleasant and filled us in at stops.

John was our driver who picked us on time very knowledgeable person about his country and friendly with us. We really enjoyed the tour .

Fulfilled a bucket list wish seeing Hobbiton! It was really cool to see the Hobbit holes and gorgeous green hills. Dean was a great driver, information giver, and all around great guy. We had a 2 1/2 hr drive (each way) and a full van of new friends to get to know. Tour guide herself at Hobbiton was also fabulous and it was well run/groups spaced out. I was afraid it would feel like Disneyland but it didn’t. This was the only tour that didn’t leave early morning- I appreciated the noon timeframe

This Hobbiton tour was amazing! Firstly, the driver was very chatty, he picked us up in a comfortable Mercedes van as it was only the 5 of us and kindly dropped us off wherever we wanted on the way back which was a nice touch. The tour itself at hobbiton was great, it wasn’t the driver that did the tour though it was one of the hobbiton company tour guides. We had Karin as our tour guide and she was the best, very knowledgeable and mentioned lots of cool, interesting facts but not too in your face for someone who’s not super crazy about Lord of the rings and the Hobbit (I’ve only seen the hobbit trilogy). It really didn’t matter that I wasn’t a geek about the films because the whole experience was amazing regardless and if anything it’s just made me want to watch the films straight away! Well worth it for anybody.

I had the one life time opportunity to do the Hobbiton tour, everything went so well starting with Wayne who tooks over there making our drive so full of information and kind to answer to all our questions and giving us tips. Wayne is a very experience guy he really gave us a taste of New Zealand before we reach the magical Hobbiton the tour is fantastic and we had the chance to experience all. It is a long drive but is totally worthy, I wish I could have had more time there.

I went on the Magical Hobbiton: Small-Group Guided Tour from Auckland. My cruise had to change our itinerary due to a Tropical Strom so we spent two days in Auckland. My Uncle suggested I see Lord of the Rings movie set. Eight (8) people took the tour and seven (7) were all from the same cruise ship. My Tour Driver was Wayne, from Expedigo Tours and Travels. Wayne was very nice and told us alot of information about New Zealand. In addition, Wayne answered all our questions. Wayne offered us water and snacks going to and from Hobbiton and he had phone chargers available for us. Going to Hobbiton, we took the motorway (highway) but on the way back we drove through cities and Wayne told us interesting facts about each city. When we returned to Auckland, Wayne gave us his recommendations on restaurants, bars, and places to see in Auckland. Wayne made the tour great! Hobbiton Set Tour: We got to Hobbiton around noon. Our tour started at 12:40pm. So we had time to shop in the gift shop, eat lunch from The Shire's Rest Cafe and use the bathroom. We boarded a Hobbiton bus and 41 of us were on the tour of Hobbiton. John was our tour guide for Hobbiton. I've seen all three Lord of the Rings movies however, I have not seen any Hobbit movies. Seeing all the Hobbit Houses and the interactive was really cool. I noticed fruits and vegetables growing around the Hobbit Houses and Hobbit Garden. John told us the food is giving to the employee for them to enjoy. I saw these items growing: tomatoes, strawberries, apples, pears, zucchini, squash, cabbage, onions, pumpkins, and so much more. I definitely enjoyed the tour and I will now watch the Hobbit movies.

We had an amazing experience with Ali driving us to the Hobbiton Movie Set tour! From start to finish, Ali was punctual, friendly, and made the ride completely stress-free. The car was comfortable and clean, and Ali shared helpful tips and local insights along the way, which made the journey even more enjoyable. We had a wonderful experience visiting the Hobbiton Movie Set with Expedigo Tours. From start to finish, everything was very smooth and easy. We had originally tried to book Hobbiton directly but it was sold out, so we were very happy to find this tour available. In the end, going through Expedigo turned out to be much easier. While it was raining the driver as soon as we get there, he had ponchos which made things easier for us.

Many tour companies only care about the money and not the guests or experience. While it was raining the driver had ponchos and umbrellas which made things easier

Great tour for non-locals, Aaron was a great guide. Good commentary on landmarks and waypoints along the way. Inside the hobbit holes was the highlight.

Everything went smoothly from the time of our booking to the end of the tour. We were provided contact information, instructed on the closest pickup location to our ship, picked up promptly, and arrived at Hobbiton with ease. Aaron, the driver/guide, provided interesting facts throughout the drive. Upon arrival at Hobbiton, he distributed tickets to the group with instructions of when to be in line for the Hobbiton tour. He met us when we got off of the bus from The Hobbiton tour with details about departure. On the way back to Auckland, Aaron surprised us with a brief stop at Waikato River where the Karāpiro Christmas Regatta 2025 was being held. Hobbiton itself was incredible in every way.

David, our driver, was great! He told us a lot about Auckland and the surrounding area as we headed towards Hobbiton. When we got there, he made sure we were all set with our tickets and let us wander around the gift shop for a bit after the tour as well. Highly recommend!
