Drive south through the Waikato, one of New Zealand's best-known farming regions. Enjoy rolling green hills, rivers and mountain views, with commentary from your guide and photo stops when time allows.
Board one of the famous green Hobbiton buses for an official guided tour of the 12-acre movie set with a Hobbiton guide. See 44 hobbit holes, Bag End and the Party Tree, and hear how scenes from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit were filmed. There is also time to buy lunch and visit the shop.
Finish the set tour at the Green Dragon Inn, the village inn from the films, with a complimentary drink. A non-alcoholic option is available.
Rejoin your guide for the drive back to Auckland. Depending on timing and conditions, your guide may add a scenic stop or a local treat on the way. Drop-off is at your pickup location.
Matt and Blue made sure everyone understood the process for pickup and drop off. They made sure we got bathroom breaks halfway to-and-from Hobbiton. They were also informative about the area. We had a great time.

Easy to book and speedy confirmation and a suggested pickup point very close to my hotel. Our guide Ali was good fun and gave a running commentary on all sorts of interesting things. The tour itself is magical – make sure you look for all the tiny details. Guide was very knowledgable and plenty of time to take photos ending with a pint at the pub.

We had a fantastic experience visiting Hobbiton today with Cheeky Kiwi, and a big part of that was thanks to our wonderful guide, Alison! From the very beginning, Alison was an absolute pleasure to deal with. She was welcoming, genuinely enthusiastic, full of positive energy, and clearly someone who enjoys what she does. Nothing felt forced or rehearsed. She was simply lovely to be around, and that made the entire experience even better. Everything was well organised, punctual, and ran smoothly throughout the day. But what really stood out to us was Alison herself. She was attentive, approachable, happy to answer questions, and even took the time to share additional recommendations to help us make the most of our time in New Zealand. Those little personal touches make a real difference, especially when you're visiting a country and trying to make the most of your trip. Hobbiton itself was obviously a highlight, but having someone like Alison looking after us made the day that much more memorable. Alison, if you happen to read this, thank you! Even if you have not seen Lord of the Rings, this is a really neat to see. The land scape on the drive down is amazing. And the farm that this site is is beautiful. Highly recommend the tour. The small tour is just on the transfer their and back, they put you with a bigger group while they take you around the property. The driver of the van was very nice, thought he might be a little more cheeky, hence the name of the company Cheeky Kiwi. New Zealand in itself is Amazing!
Picked up at a very convenient place close to our hotel. Very nice vehicle (new) and a great guide. Hanzo got the group talking on the way to Hobbiton and therefore the group was more connected when we got to the Movie Set. Drove very safely and gave us good information

This tour far exceeded our expectations! Simple pick up by Vicki who was a great guide. 2 hour drive to the set where we had lunch and shopped before heading out on the tour. The Shire is pure magic and joy! Just being there made us feel like kids. The details that have been created and maintained are phenomenal. Actually being able to go inside of a hobbit home was the icing on the cake. A truly special experience!
I absolutely loved my Hobbiton movie set tour today. Pick up was on time and our guide Vicki was warm, friendly, fun and knowledgeable. I've only seen photos of the Hobbiton on fb but today I got to see it with my own eyes. It was incredible. Worth the money and I'd recommend this tour to anyone who hasn't done it. Well worth the time it took to get there. About a two hour drive from Auckland each way and about three hours in the Hobbiton. Beautiful surroundings! The actual movie set was amazing! Highly recommend!
