Hobbiton Movie Set & Waitomo Glow Worm Caves Private Tour

From our pickup at our hotel in Rotorua to the drop off in Auckland our driver, John, provided us with first class service. Having a private driver was wonderful. The Waitomo glow worm caves were very interesting and an enjoyable experience. Hobbiton was amazing! They really put on a top notch tour. I can see why it’s so popular. Auckland & Beyond tours and our driver John made this day an unforgettable experience!

We spent a lovely day with Raymond, our driver, guide, and conversationalist. He picked us up in a nice Mercedes van, and we enjoyed a comfortable ride. Throughout, Raymond engaged in conversation about our interests and questions and pointed out items of potential interest. This was our second time using Auckland & Beyond, and we envisioned engaging them again in the future.

We had an amazing day visiting Hobbiton and the Glowworm Caves with Auckland & Beyond Tours! Our guide Emily was absolutely wonderful: friendly, helpful, and full of interesting stories and fun facts that made the journey fly by. The coach had Wi-Fi, and she even provided us with snacks and water. She also gave us great recommendations on where to eat and where to sit on the bus for the best experience at the Hobbiton Movie Set. She was always happy to help with anything we needed and made the whole day feel easy and enjoyable. Both experiences were fantastic, and Emily really made the trip even more special. Highly recommend this tour, and a big thank you to Emily for such a lovely day!

Hobbiton movie experience was an absolutely awesome experience .. Seeing the movie and standing on the movie site was an amazing experience. So glad we did this tour . Waitamo cave experience and glow worms together with boat ride was beautiful. Thank you to our tour guides in both places. Our tour bus driver,Geoff was exceptional in giving us information along the way and making our journey amazing and comfortable. On holiday from Australia with my family. We've always wanted to visit Hobbiton and it was amazing. Jon was very friendly and knowledgeable and helped us have a wonderful time.

The tour guide ADIL of Auckland & Beyond is helpful and friendly. We joined a short trip, his professional touring skill did impress us. He is punctual on pick up point early in the morning (6:20am). On the way to Hobbiton, he managed to update us the brief history of New Zealand although it maybe difficult to deliver in full picture. But the information is useful to us. Thanks ADIL for taking pictures for me and my wife, and you are always waiting us at exit so that we don't even have a little anxiety immediately after all guided shows. ADIL, you are great. You answered all my questions in a helpful manner. The little pamphlet you given me is just in time for my planing my trip in coming days. Thank for all your efforts in this short trip. Our guide, Andy, was the best. Despite the early pickup time we did not sleep in the car but exchanged such great stories with him and learned so much about New Zealand from him. We could tell from the first minutes onward that this would be a special tour. He took us for coffee before continuing on to our Hobbiton Movie Set Tour, which was a really great experience, including a second breakfast (LOTR inside joke, but note that this part is the tour is not private). After that we continued to the Waitomo Cave to see the glowworms (the experience inside the cave is also not private) but not before trying to spot a Kiwi (not the fruit ;-)). After a last rest stop (including some delicious ice cream) we arrived back at our hotel in Auckland. Special thanks to Andy for making this day truly unforgettable. Would really recommend this tour to anyone since you have your private guide and driver who takes care of everything.

It was the best experience ever this day full of amazing memories it's started with excitement with our guide Adil the very nice person who has a large sea of information about all the city the history the civilization omg good bless him thanks a lot we enjoyed I will come back again in other adventures 🥰

Our tour guide Nancy was caring and she always share a lot about the Māori culture. Nice experience in the Hobbiton Movie Set although it was raining, the view was so beautiful.

Loved the Hobbiton tour and the Waitomo Cave was really neat! Our guide was super informative about the area. I enjoy birdwatching and she pointed out different bird species and we even made a little stop at Kiwi House.

Wow wow wow! What an incredible experience! We absolutely loved this private tour to Hobbiton and the glow worm caves. Our tour guide Warren was the best! Not only did he impress us with his local knowledge, but he also kept us laughing and entertained as we drove to these amazing destinations. He was so great, we specifically requested him for another tour - the Rotorua Maori cultural and geothermal experience. We are so happy we chose Auckland & Beyond for our once in a lifetime trip to New Zealand.

We visited the Glow Worm Caves and Hobbiton with Auckland and Beyond’s Raymond. We enjoyed both visits. The caves were not large, compared to the Carlsbad Caverns, but were interesting to see. The best part for me was the quiet boat ride on the river in caves that were pitch black except for the glowing “worms” on the ceilings. If you are a fan of the Lord of the Rings movies and The Hobbit, the visit to the Shire is a must. The gardens are meticulously maintained so that every photograph of a Hobbit hole is perfect. Raymond, our driver, was excellent. He kept us on time, despite traffic issues, and was very well-informed on NZ and it’s history.

Amazing tour! Warren was a joy to have as our guide and driver. Had the best time at Hobbiton. It was more gorgeous than I had hoped. The landscaped was beautiful and well maintained. They are building a hobbit house you can go inside of… opens December 2023. The caves with the glow works were very cool. Wish the boat ride was longer but a super neat experience. The stops were well planned and the drive did not feel long. Highly recommend this tour.

Amazing Hobbiton & Waitomo Caves tour, I recommend it !! I really enjoyed this day with incredible landscapes and extraordinary experiences. Our guide Raymond was super nice, attentionnate and cultivated 🙂 We were back in Auckland around 5 pm, which allowed us to enjoy the rest of our afternoon / night back in the city.
