This was an absolutely fantastic tour—I had wanted to visit Hobbiton since junior high and loved every minute of this tour. I threw in the Waitomo Caves not really knowing what to expect (or if I would even have the energy the day of) but I’m so glad I did. The caves were a short, informative tour that was very calming at the end of a day in the sunny Shire. I had the pleasure of sitting in the front passengers seat for this tour as well and really enjoyed my chats with Dave on the road to and from our destinations. I’m sad to say I don’t know when I’ll be back, but if I return I would absolutely book with Cheeky Kiwi again or refer others to this company. Well done!

Timmy was the best, was very timely in every aspect of the tour, from pick up to return he really did a great job. His knowledge of the local roads paid off , when one of the highways was closed due to an unfortunate accident.

Absolutely stunning of an experience that cannot be described by words or photos. Our driver Liam is the best and was on time to pick up and addressed any questions or concerns throughout the entire trip and made sure everyone had a good time. 10/10 recommend cheeky kiwi and coming here at least once in a lifetime for a breathtaking experience all around

Wonderful tour! Hobbiton was definitely the highlight. Our tour included lunch and the place we stopped at had really nice food. The staff at the Waitomo Caves were excellent. I believe we had a full bus of around 14 people which was perfect, makes for a really comfortable day. It is a bit of long day by the time you get dropped off but the scenery more than makes up for it, absolutely stunning country! Our Guide from Cheeky Kiwi was good.

We loved our tour of Hobbiton and Waitomo Glowworm Caves!! The whole day from start to finish was fantastic! Huge shout out to our guide Vicki who was so knowledgeable, welcoming and helpful. Plus she had the bus vibing with good tunes all day long.

Our guides at both places were very energetic and enthusiastic. You could tell they enjoyed their job. Both were very informative. Enjoyed both tours!

If you are want to learn more about the culture and experiences of a lifetime take this tour. Liam is amazing even stops for ice cream. I've done many tours but the meal we had was by far the best. Hobbiton was more than I hoped for. The Waitomo caves blew me away.

Great small tour and really enjoyed the day both at hobbiton and the glow worms. I had a fantastic guide Mark who was very helpful and knowledgeable all day. He drove safely in a comfortable small bus. Even if you are not a fan of the movies like myself I would still recommend doing this tour.

Our guide and driver was fantastic, sharing interesting facts about the places we visited. The stops and schedule were very well planned, with almost no waiting or queues. Lunch was included, with very generous portions, and we were provided with snacks and water throughout the trip. A lovely surprise was getting the chance to meet and feed an ostrich! Highly recommended!

Hobbiton and Waitomo day trip was excellent! We were a mix of first-timers and return visitors and we all enjoyed the trip thoroughly. Ali (Alessandro) our guide was an excellent driver and he managed the group well, was entertaining, informative, fun and chill. The guides in Hobbiton and Waitomo were fun and knowledgeable as well. There were adequate rest stops for stretching legs, getting snacks, and restroom break. Snacks and water were provided as well. Only downside was the seats in the vehicle which were a bit narrow and has limited legroom for above-average size person. Overall, though, great tour

Hobbiton was amazing! And the giant stone trolls were the cherry on the sundae! Can't wait to get home and re-watch the trilogies! Mark was very informative and friendly! Important thing people should know about Waitomo....no photography of any sort in the caves!

We had limited time in Auckland and this tour paired our love of LOTR with a snapshot of the beauty the North Island boasts. Fantastic! This is a must-do New Zealand experience. Hobbiton is awesome, and the glow-worm cave defies description. Liam from the Cheeky Kiwi was a super guide and driver. He added a lot of local color and cultural background in addition to being knowledgeable about our destinations.

We booked with Cheeky Kiwi. Geoff was our tour guide and he was fantastic. Talk about a gentleman who is passionate about his country and has a wealth of knowledge. He ensured the whole group was comfortable the whole day with enough snacks, water, fine temperature and just did more than expected as a guide! We got lucky! The whole experience was definitely a highlight especially if you’re interested in LOTR and want to see Hobbiton and have a movie set experience come to life. The whole thing was my dream come true since I’ve always wanted to visit and see the Shire. The only thing that we didn’t love was the rush - every moment felt a bit rushed and I assume that was because of the hobbiton organization having to pump tour groups every. It is what it is but I wish we could’ve taken our time more. Either way, you get what you want out of it and hobbiton is an experience you can’t miss. The worm cave was amazing too. They’re only found in NZ and Australia and it’s like seeing stationary fireflies in a cave. A pretty quick experience but I recommend not missing this if you have time.

It‘s a really interesting trip, all of the schedule are well arranged. More importantly, We’d like to give a huge thanks to Jeoff for his kindness. One of us accidentally lost a credit card, and Jeoff found it and went out of his way to return it to our hotel. We really appreciate the time and effort he took to help us. Everytime I booked day tour by viator. Tour is good but this time management is poor. Small group is a good option but if there's including lunch should be arranged sitting separate is better ( like when in London go to Stonehenge and bath city is good). If in the small group there unfortunately some visitors are selfish aggressive not respect others visitors sitting together and eating will get a horrible experience which can be ruin a good happy travels feeling.

What an amazing day! Definitely the highlight of our honeymoon so far! Ale our guide was fantastic, full of interesting info on all things Kiwi! The entire trip was really smoothly done and no hassle with anything, door to door service was great. Loved being able to just enjoy everything as it was so well organised we didn’t have to think of a thing! Lunch was huge and tasty! We have another cheeky kiwi tour booked for Friday and I’m sure it will be great too!!

A great day trip from Auckland. You don’t need to be a Hobbiton fan to do this trip I have never watched the films and the set is absolutely amazing and thoroughly enjoyable for any age. The tour lasts around 2 hours and you are given plenty of time to take pictures the group sizes are around 20 people at Hobbiton so you don’t feel over crowded. The lunch stop provided by Cheeky Kiwi was great and a huge menu choice to choose from there was definitely something for everyone here. Next stop Waitomo Caves to see the glow worms great experience if like us you have never seen them. A great tour provided by Cheeky Kiwi if I had one improvement it would be to make less pick ups and make some central points for people to meet but I get the attraction is probably hotel pick ups. Would highly recommend this company

We can’t recommend this tour enough. Even if you aren’t a big Lord of The Rings or Hobbit fan, you will still be in awe of it. Whilst it took a bit of time to get there, the scenery along the way was beautiful.

Hanoldze was our tour guide and he is just great at what he does. Everything went smoothly from pick up to drop off. Instructions were clear, so there is no confusion. The Hobbiton trip was so much fun and enjoyable. The glow worm cave was a very cool attraction too, unique as I’ve never had that experience in any of the cave tours I had ever done. The restaurant, The Thirsty Wetta, was a very good choice. Every one in our group enjoyed our meals. Well planned trip! Thank you.

The guides are very knowledgeable and provide an extremely enjoyable experience. You actually feel like you were visiting the Shire! I didn’t want to leave and go back to reality! 😂 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Booking a tour was well worth the time and stress it saved when I had only a short time to spend in New Zealand - didn't have to worry about any logistics and got to focus fully on enjoying the experience. Both Hobbiton and the glowworm caves were incredible, and our tour guide Dave really enhanced the experience by providing us lots of extra information about the area and letting us know what to expect during the day. It was also a nice opportunity as a solo traveler to get to meet some other friendly folks.

Both Hobbiton and the Waitomo Glowworm Caves were amazing experiences and well worth visiting. A special mention goes to our driver and guide, Henoc, who made the whole trip even more enjoyable. He was friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and very helpful throughout the day. Henoc provided interesting information along the way and made sure everyone was comfortable and having a great time. The tour was very well organised, the lunch was enjoyable, and the combination of Hobbiton and the Glowworm Caves made for a perfect day trip from Auckland. Highly recommended! If you are visiting Auckland and want to experience two of New Zealand’s must-see attractions, this is a fantastic tour. And if you are lucky enough to have Henoc as your guide, you’re in for an even better experience!

Highly recommend. Bus is comfortable, takes you to hobbiton, lunch, and glow worm caves. Driver Ara was extremely knowledgeable and beyond friendly. Breaking down the cost of the tickets lunch and travel, it’s a steal. Both Hobbiton and glowworm caves were must see in Auckland

It was a great experience for someone going on a solo trip for the 1st time. The guide,Grant, was amazing and very knowledgeable. Besides the tour, the lunch selection was very good. Would definitely book with them again next time I come back.

Best day trip I’ve had in ages! Loved it. Hobbiton is amazing, and being able to explore a hobbit hole just adds to the whole thing. The glow worms put on a great show for us in Waitomo too. Hanoz was brilliant - an excellent driver, informative and great company. Lots of little extras too.

Great tour! You do everything you could want at Hobbiton (the gift shop was a little lacking). The glowworms seem gimcky but it is totally worth it and very cool experience!! We had Grant who was full of knowledge and made the long day great (this is a very long day!!)

This will be a long day with lots of time on the bus but it's definitely worth it. The guide was great with just the right amount of chatter and the bus is comfortable.

Liam was the most amazing tour guide! He is a lifelong New Zealander, and was passionate about sharing the culture and history of his country. (yes, hobbiton and waitomo were amazing too, but the true gem of this tour was Liam and the education he gave us along the very long drive.) We finished the tour with a much greater appreciation for NZ, and left us wanting to return soon to see more!
