Clearyak Hire At Goat Island Marine Reserve

I went to Goat Island Marine reserve with my daughter and 2 friends for a school exhibition trip to video and take photos of the marine reserve. We decided to hire a Clearyak once we arrived there. The young guy working there ( I’ve forgotten his name sorry) was such an awesome help and made the whole experience a pleasure. The girls got some great footage through the bottom of the Clearyak. We will definitely be back. Thanks Ed

Good but over priced and too over crowded plus the boats are scratched up making it hard to see through them. We discovered if you put some water in the bottom you can see more. Would I do it again No. Would I recommend if no probably not. Would I recommend going to goat island with a snorkel yes but take your own as they are over priced as well.

Was such a fun and relaxing experience. Was quite windy so we couldn't see a lot through the bottom of the kayak but was still so much fun. The operators were really friendly and chilled and allowed us to start a little later as we were the last lot for the day. The scenery is magnificent. Highly recommend.

So much fun and very friendly guides. Felt safe on the water with one of the guides being out on the water for assistance if needed. Great afternoon

This was our first time trying a kayak glass boat, and the staff was super helpful. They even helped us reschedule due to the weather, which worked out perfectly since it turned out to be a really beautiful day. The sea near the cave was a vibrant green, and the boat itself was gorgeous. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, guiding us through the kayak and even taking photos for us – they really went above and beyond!

Turned up early. No one was there to provide access to kayaks. Could not get hold of anyone. The “experience” was not refundable. Not good enough.

We had such a great experience! The attendant prepared us really well before kayaking, which was reassuring since most of us were beginner swimmers. The whole ride was calm and serene, sunshine above, crystal-clear water below, and even a few friendly fish along the way.

Such a fun activity! The owner was really friendly and helpful, the price was reasonable and the experience was magical! Definitely recommended 👌

Kip was awesome. He was so knowledgeable and always willing to assist. We had an amazing time. Going back in a few weeks for a bit of snorkelling.

We were so looking forward to our experience on the clear yak canoe at goat island. Unfortunately we were not informed that the trip was cancelled. We waited and after looking on the website realised that this was the case. The weather was perfect so was confused. So disappointing. Very bad communication.

The pictures don’t do this experience justice! It’s an incredibly beautiful spot and we had so much fun exploring in the kayaks, looking at the fish, etc. Would highly recommend!

We had our daughter & her partner over from the UK & we hired two clear kayaks. The conditions were ideal & Pip, the operator, went above & beyond in ensuring we had a safe & enjoyable time. We spent over an hour on the water & loved every minute. Many thanks to Pip for his friendly & attentive attitude & we'd have no hesitation in doing this activity again.

Amazing marine reserve with heaps of fish. Great service and friendly staff that provided helpful tips on where to go and what could be seen. Would recommend this to anyone visiting the area

Not really knowing what to expect, we talked with Kip on the beach. He explained everything very well and was super genial. He set us up in the kayaks, explained safety and boundaries, and provided info on where we might have the best viewing. We had a super fun paddle, the kayaks are so stable. Saw some really big snapper. Kip came out to check on us once and took a group photo which was fun. At the end he took care of everything and we have a great memory of our Clearyak excursion!!

An hour on the clear kayak at goat island.... it was wonderful! The staff were fantastic, so helpful and friendly.... simple things like remembering your name when chatting. The water is crystal clear and we were able to see the marine life clearly.... one kayaker called out as they saw a stingray. My arms are aching so also good exercise! Might return before I go home...... it is highly recommended.

The weather was good... Especially Kip..who came along with us to show fishes..he made sure we are comfortable from beginning to end...worth visiting goat island for kayak n snorkeling... would love to visit again...💓😊... someone should get a raise..😅

great experience, friendly staff super quick and easy to go out on the water. I went solo and it was easy enough to paddled around I recommend checking the weather is advance - on a sunny day you have a clear view of the seafloor!

Such a fun way to see snapper, red moki and blue maomao. They swim right under you and you can see them clearly. Much easier than snorkeling. Easy sign in and payment system. Good instructions for safety and great guidance on where to see different types of fish. Booked for 30mins but could happily have carried on for another hour. Thanks ClearYak.

It was not what I expected. The clearyak was cool but quite unstable. Waters are clear enough best to take your own kayak and just look over the side. Not allowed to paddle around island only where they can see you from the beach . Very packed with people and snorkelers to navigate around. Saw 3 snapper and a small stingray. Can see lots of snapper for free at onetai bay urupukapuka Island at the wharf and can buy fish food as a voluntary fish reserve there. Even though clearyak accommodated us running late due to vehicle problems not worth $130 couple . Beautiful water and part of the country. Place was Soo packed cars and caravans lining side of the rd. Down to single lane traffic to get in.

This was great there were so many fish and I enjoyed it so much when the water was warm you could relax and not be miserable the guides helped at the start

Amazingly clear water and beautiful scenes. Unfortunately we were unable to spot any sting rays but the guy organizing the kayaks went out of his way to try and help us locate them. Very friendly and all in all great experience!

The water was so clear, and the kayak was well-maintained with no scratches, so I could see all the fishes hiding in the kelp forests. Kip, who was in charge of carrying out all the kayaks and running all the business aspects, gave me great advice on where to paddle to find the best sea life viewing areas. He need a raise 😁 Overall, it was a great bonus to a beautiful beach day.

Amazing - we had an incident where the kayak started to get water in, but Kip was fantastic and came out to assist us on his paddle board and took us back to shore safely…

This unique experience was one of the highlights of our trip to New Zealand! We were fortunate enough to have perfect weather and the experience of kayaking with the marine life was fabulous. Kip was wonderful: helpful, kind and informative. A really wonderful experience which I would highly recommend.

The clear kayaks are east to handle, and very cool seeing the fish swimming underneath! Goats island protects the area from large swells, so no risk of getting g rounded by "a big one"! Great experience all around!

Absolutely amazing activity. My 10 year old daughter and I took a Clearyak for an hour and had the best time. Kip was amazingly helpful, kind and so good with my daughter. We will be back with the rest of the family asap, 10 out 10!

Such an amazing experience! The staff were incredibly friendly and polite, they even gave me free Spanish lessons! The clear kayak makes such a difference and I saw so many fish! We booked for 2 adults but when we arrived were offered 2 seperate double kayaks. I guess we should have read the detail more carefully and just booked 1 as each kayak seats two people! You have the use of the kayak for 1 hour. Experience was a lot of fun, although weekend in January so it was packed with people which meant being very aware of not hitting people in a small area with no segregation of boats/swimmers. It also meant very few fish. We did find some but further out around the boundary of where we were allowed to go. Very beautiful. Would go again, plan more time to spend on the beach and take a picnic.

Cute idea to have see-through kayaks. Very relaxing way to see the fishes and get out past the swimmers. Great for me as I wear glasses and don't tolerate contacts very well. Novel idea for an afternoon out.

Great trip. Hired three kayaks for a family of 6. Really enjoyed it. Saw snapper, red moki and lots of other fish and rays. The staff were all very friendly and easy to deal with. Thoroughly recommend.

What an amazing and experience.Was our first time to Goat Island and we loved seeing it via Clearyak. The instructor was great too. Would recommend to anyone wanting to try something new and see what our beautiful country has to offer.

Fabulous place to be with fabulous people. Thoroughly recommend this to lose yourself for an hour or so and clear the head. Kip kept us up to date with weather.

It was a great experience! Definitely one of its kind in NZ. It's weather dependent so must check their website for daily operating updates for making that 1.5 hours drive north of Auckland.

We had a great day. The staff were super friendly and helpful. Making sure we had everything we needed. Kids loved seeing the fish a d wanted to go back for more
