Cathedral Cove & Hot Water Beach With Lunch From Auckland

Great tour .. the sights were amazing but the guide Jamie made it even better. We all felt like friends by the end of the day

Cathedral Cove was absolutely stunning. I could sit there all day reading a book and enjoying the surrounding sites. The hot water beach was really special as well, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. It was quite a long ride from Auckland to these points but our guide, David did a great job providing so much information about the area and answered every question anyone had. The only thing I have to say is if someone has a problem with motion sickness, this may not be the tour for them. The road to and from is VERY curvy and if you have a problem with heights that is also a challenge as the road is cliffside and didn’t seem to be guardrails so very scary to me so I kept my eyes closed for most of that portion. My friend felt ill during the trip and David was very nice to help her feel better. It was a good tour.

scenic road, nice locations, relaxed timing it was a little bit crowded with people due to public holidays, but nevertheless nice places to see and little bit hike

Pick up was on time,our guide /driver Jamie was friendly informative and spent time with everyone making sure everyone was having a good time ..hot water beach is hot,cathedral bay walk challenging (lots of steps)but worth the effort,I have a bad knee and I did it!!

Hands down one of my most favorite days in NZ! The tour was so well planned and our guide, Liam, was incredibly knowledgeable and organized. He looked out for all of us like we were family. The locations were breathtaking. Would absolutely book this again!

Had such a great day at Hot water beach and Cathedral Cove with Expedigo guide Liam - and a small group (new family) of travellers. Liam was an excellent guide and really went the extra mile to make the perfect road trip - stories, guidance, and encouraged a good photo op! Definitely a highlight of my time in NZ, would 100% recommend. I booked fairly last minute, and a solo female - the info given, from pickup throughout the day was great.

Amazing full day tour from Auckland CBD. The tour only had 5 guests which made it more sociable and engaging. We all looked out for each other. I sat up the front with our tour guide and driver - Jaime. He was a great guide, knowledgeable, friendly and caring. I had great conversations with him. The food provided was great. Ample water, ample stops for the rest room. Comfortable vehicle. Cathedral Cove was beautiful and the weather was great when we got to the cove. Hahei was a great small town. Hot water beach was amazing. Incredible outing!

Very enjoyable trip. We had lovely views at Cathedral Cove and a great experience at Hot Water Beach. Our guide Liam was very knowledgeable and engaging and kept us entertained for the whole day. I loved that the tour group was not too big either. The walk to Cathedral Cove was more strenous than I had anticipated, so definitely wear good walking shoes and be prepared!

I had an absolutely brilliant day on this tour and couldn’t fault a single thing. The places we visited were incredibly beautiful, and the scenery was just breathtaking. Liam was an incredible guide. His knowledge was fantastic, and it was so interesting to learn about New Zealand as a country, its history and its culture while also being completely absorbed by the incredible natural beauty around us. He was so friendly, helpful and clearly passionate about what he does, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. They also catered to my gluten free request for lunch with absolutely no issues, which I really appreciated. Everything was so well organised from start to finish. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to see some of New Zealand’s beautiful scenery while also learning more about the country and its culture. Thank you for such a fantastic day! ☺️

Our guide Jaime, was superb! He had to change course a few times. The first was when the road closed, due to an accident and we couldn’t go through to get to Cathedral Cove. So, he drove us to this little marina area and we are lunch a bit early. The second was when we arrived and just for myself he noticed I was having a few physical challenges with Cathedral Cove. It was quite a hike, and involved quite a few stairs. So, if you have difficulty with stairs, I suggest you skip this activity, or find one that will ferry you after you have walked down. Jaime was flexible with time so that when I finally arrived I got to enjoy some time at the cove. He was also a wealth of information about the area as well as livestock, farming, and even the reindeer that reside in the mountains. The second portion of our tour was to the hot water beach. Jaime again was very flexible with timing ensuring everyone got to have a fabulous time!

Me and my husband went on this day trip as apart of our honeymoon! It was an amazing experience. Our guide Aaron was phenomenal! He knew lots of facts and also lead the day with kindness! Lunch that was included was lovely and to experience places that are truly magical was so special to us and will be memories we have with us for life!

The tour guide was incredibly friendly! Along the way, he shared so much about New Zealand’s scenery and chatted with us, making the whole trip very smooth and enjoyable. Before the tour started, we had a lot of questions, and we really appreciate his patience in answering them all.For the morning pickup, our guide, David, arrived exactly on time. He was extremely thoughtful, helping us on and off the vehicle. He also provided us with morning snacks and drinking water, and took the time to carefully introduce the vehicle's medical supplies and emergency exits, which made us feel very safe. Once we arrived at the attraction, David led us to Cathedral Cove. He is clearly very experienced, patiently guiding us along the way with very clear instructions. He even shared great local tips, like where to find the hidden waterfall and the best time to walk through the beach, allowing us to fully enjoy the entire spot. The lunch was fantastic and abundant! It included chocolate cake, chips, chicken wraps, apples, and juice, which perfectly catered to everyone's needs. At Hot Water Beach, David even helped us dig a huge hole so we could truly experience the uniqueness of the hot springs.David is incredibly knowledgeable, clear in his explanations, humorous, and deeply kind. He is an absolute 10/10 tour guide. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful and memorable day!

My daughter and I had a wonderful time during this excursion. Drive to and back was comfortable. We had plenty of time to explore Cathedral Cove and Hot Water beach. Guide (I forget the name) was very knowledgeable and gave us information that was very helpful for us. It was a pleasant experience for both my daughter and I.

He is very friendly and approachable and you can ask him different questions about New Zealand and learn a lot. Both destinations were so nice and I strongly recommend this tour.

This was one of the loveliest tours I’ve been on in a long time! Our guide, David, was incredibly kind, personable, and kept us thoroughly entertained…even through Auckland traffic. Incredible experience with breathtaking views! Jaime was an excellent guide who was engaging and very knowledgeable. Took this tour with our family and friends of 4 adults and 5 kids aged from 8-15 and everyone loved it.

The entire trip was a wonderful experience. We were picked up on time, taken to all the advertised spots, given enough time to take in the sights and enjoy our time at both the Hot water beach and Cathedral Cove. Jaime was an amazing guide, helping us with everything, sharing interesting pieces of lore and history of all the different places we crossed or visited. All around amazing person! We were a small group of 8 people, so the trip felt cozy enough without feeling cramped. A tour well worth the price of entry!

The day trip was good overall, and we had a pleasant experience. The guide was friendly and approachable, which made the trip more enjoyable. One small suggestion is that the time spent at each stop felt a little too long. I think the experience would be even better if the trip could start a bit later and return a bit earlier. Overall, it was still a nice day trip.

Expedigo is the tour provider and they were great. They communicated well before pickup, during the trip, and after the trip. Our guide was nice and helpful. We had a nice, long walk to the beach and then took the boat back. So glad the boat option (separate fee) was available because not sure if we would have been able to walk back. The sceneries were just as spectacular as in photos.

A great way to see some of the beautiful nature that New Zealand has to offer. The Hot Water beach was a great experience. Aaron is a friendly and knowledgeable guide!

The scenery itself is incredible, but especially at Cathedral Cove we felt that there wasn't enough time given to a) take the fairly strenuous hike down&back up b) eat lunch and c) be able to just "be" at this incredible place. It didn't help that there was a lot of road construction which is of course not on the tour company, but they might consider giving an extra 30 minutes or so to the Cathedral Cove portion of the tour, even if it means a bit less time at Hot Water Beach. Hot Water Beach was nice, and the tour guide worked hard to help dig down to the thermal water pool, but again I'd rather have had more time at Cathedral Cove and maybe a little less at Hot Water Beach. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, and a safe driver through all the above-mentioned construction and sometimes thrilling roads on the tour. The packed lunch was also very good. Overall it was a very nice trip, and left us with time to explore Auckland in the evening. Recommended!

Jaime was such a great guide and honestly made the whole Coromandel trip such a fun and easy day. He picked us up bright and early and kept the vibe going from the start — even the coffee stop at the Bugger Cafe had us laughing 😂 The drive could’ve felt long with all the winding roads, but Jaime made it really enjoyable, pointing out things along the way like the forests, mountains, mānuka trees, and even saw where kiwis grow. You can tell he really knows the area and loves what he does. Despite the rain, our stop at Cathedral Cove was still absolutely stunning and definitely worth it. Then heading to Hot Water Beach was such a cool experience — digging our own hot pool in the sand was something we’ll never forget! Jaime kept everything running smoothly without ever making it feel rushed and made sure everyone was having a good time. Such an amazing day all round — couldn’t have asked for a better guide! Highly recommend if you get the chance

Excellent tour! David, our guide, was exceptional—everything was very well planned. He shared many great tips and interesting facts about New Zealand.

The trip was a lot of fun, the beaches were breathtaking and Liam went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a good time. We loved it and recommend this tour to everyone. The “walk” to the cove is more of a hike so I would caution anyone that struggles with strenuous exercise or take a boat when they are running.
