Auckland: Rotorua Tour With Waiotapu, Te Puia And Maori Haka

It's worth getting up earlier than usual! Did this the day after arriving i. Auckland for 2 days, and glad I did.

Was a long day tour but it was worth it. Maori village was really an experience. Matt was a great guide and driver, gave us a lot of informative info regarding NZ and Auckland.

A good visit overall but a very long day - 14 hours from pickup to drop off. Morning sessions at Wai-O-Tapu felt a bit disappointing and rushed.

I highly recommend this tour of the North island!! Our guide Jason was friendly, knowledgeable, and quite witty which made the trip even better! The views are breathtaking and each stop is unique and adventurous. We had coffee and meat pies, walked through the geothermal park (a major highlight) and even learned about the Maōri culture at Te Puia. This tour accommodates everything and is well worth the cost!!

This was a fantastic introduction to New Zealand for us, to both the geography and the Māori culture

Great guide, he was fun and social. Overall, the tour makes it easy to take such a long trip out of Auckland but the area is certainly worth an overnight visit. The itinerary was good and the guide was willing to help me with finding gluten free food for our stops.

Fun day full of new experiences. Both cultural and natural beauty. Enjoyed the hot springs and the arts college.

Pick up on time, each stop was well organized, we had enough time to take pictures and return on time.

We chose the option of going to Waiotapu in the morning and Te Puia in the afternoon. I can highly recommend this option as it gives you time to explore both the geothermal sites and Maori culture. Although Te Puia also includes a geothermal area, it is definitely worth it to visit Waiotapu as well. The eruption of the Lady Knox Geyser was stunning and the accompanying musical performance really enhanced the experience. The visit to the Maori meeting house at Te Puia was another highlight of the tour. It was not as touristy as one might expect. Last but not least, our driver David was fantastic. His commentaries were really insightful.

One of best experiences i had during this trip. Great daytrip from Auckland to Rotorua, during which we saw waiotapu geothermal activity and te puia Māori centre with 3rd largest geyser in the world and saw Māori performance. Aaron, our guide was amazing and really helpful, told us very interesting stories about new zealand.

Expedigo is an outstanding company that combined Rotorua Volcanic Pool Tour and the Polynesian Spa. The access pick-up and drop-off service was conveniently located and. everything was well organized and enjoyable. Our guide Jaime was friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, and truly made the experience special. Book at least a week in advance to secure a spot. Flexible cancellation and/or rescheduling options. Great value and is a wonderful way to create unforgettable memories!

The places are amazing and a most see. But waiting for people to get out of the spa after a long day was never explained

My Rotorua day tour went well. Matt came on time and he explained how the day will go. We made stops to make long drive easier. He is very experienced we did reach target spots just on time, no waiting nor queuing. It was raining most of the day but umbrellas were available all the time. It was a long day but exceeded my expectations.

We were picked up on time at our hotel. It was a comfortable minivan with a group of 14 or so. The drive was pleasant and we spent adequate time at each stop to enjoy the places. The entrance fees were covered. Waitapu and Tepuia were great! Enjoyed Māori performances and craft center. Our Guide Jason was patient and amazing! I definitely recommend.

From the timely pick up from Jamie at the Hotel and the all the way and back was incredible. The journey was easy, relaxed and safe. Jamie guiding skills were brilliant, his knowledge second to none. Rototua walk was breathtaking, serene. Then Waiotapi journey was equally inspiring, the learning was unparalleled. Understating the Māori culture intimately is not to be missed. The combination of the three in one tour was seamlessly coordinated and executed well by Jamie. If I would ever bring my family God willing, this experience is not to be missed.

A fantastic day trip to Rotorua with our guide Jason! Jason is extremely knowledgeable and shared many wonderful stories about the landscapes, Māori language and culture along the way. Jeremy chatted nonstop with him throughout the drive, and Jason was always patient answering all our questions. We loved visiting the geothermal park with colourful thermal pools, mud pools and the Māori village. We were amazed by the traditional carving crafts and the powerful haka performance. My Mum and I booked the Auckland to Rotorua tour, visiting Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland and Te Puia, and honestly, it exceeded our expectations. The journey from Auckland is a long one, but having David as our tour guide made every minute worthwhile. He was absolutely fantastic, knowledgeable, friendly, funny, patient and genuinely passionate about New Zealand. He went above and beyond to make sure everyone felt comfortable, included and had an amazing experience. Our first stop at Wai-O-Tapu was absolutely breathtaking. The geothermal landscape is something you really have to see with your own eyes. From the bubbling mud pools and steaming fumaroles to the incredible colours of the Champagne Pool and Artist’s Palette, it felt like we’d stepped onto another planet! 🌋✨ We then headed into Rotorua, where we had a little time to explore and grab some snacks before continuing to Te Puia. Te Puia was another highlight. Walking through the geothermal valley and seeing Pōhutu Geyser erupt was incredible, but experiencing the Māori culture was what made the day truly special. The traditional arts, carving and weaving, the stories, songs, poi and especially the powerful haka gave us a much deeper appreciation of Māori culture and heritage. 🇳🇿❤️ But I have to give a special mention to David. Tour guides can completely make or break an experience and David absolutely made ours. His knowledge, personality and genuine enthusiasm brought everything to life. He didn’t just drive us from one place to another, he told stories, answered questions, looked after everyone and made the entire day feel personal. My Mum and I came away with beautiful memories, lots of laughs and a much greater appreciation for New Zealand’s natural beauty and culture. Yes I enjoyed trip and my time and David was absolutely awesome and friendly with full of knowledge with local history and culture. And the volcanic valley is surreal and David stopped at wonderful unique Bird sanctuary and few local famous food stops they are fantastic as well. And the Māori performances really brilliant must visit.

Visiting the thermal pools and geysers was such a unique experience. The Maori cultural center was very interesting along with viewing of the kiwi birds was a complete and worthwhile sightseeing experience. I recommend this tour 100%.

Jason was fun and friendly. He was very knowledgeable. Gave us pointers on where to stand for better video/photo ops, etc. The places we went were absolutely awesome. So glad I got to see it all in one day. Black swans, bubbling mud ponds, brilliant mineral lakes, Maori performance and tour of the school. Kiwi birds, geysers, and more. Had a wonderful time. The bus ride was long but 100% worth it.
