Jerome was an excellent guide.
Great tour exploring several dormant volcanoes around the Auckland area. The bakery stop was a bonus.
Several nice challenging hikes, excellent views, Jerome was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating
We had an amazing experience with Mike! He was incredibly knowledgeable about Auckland and shared so many interesting facts and stories along the way. My 14-year-old son had a fantastic time too, which made the experience even better. Mike was friendly, engaging and made the tour really enjoyable for both of us. Highly recommend this tour if you want to see Auckland with someone who really knows the city!
We had a great tour with Jerome! He shared a lot of facts and knowledge about Auckland and Māori history. We loved that we were able to climb 4 volcanoes and learn about each one. Got a bonus workout included with the tour. Highly recommend this tour. You also get great views of Auckland cityscape!
It was a great tour good value for money and the tour guide (Jerome) was excellent, very knowledgeable. The view from Mt Wellington was awesome even though the weather wasn’t. Lucky for us the rain kept away, it was rather windy though. Would recommend this tour if like us you enjoy learning about Volcanoes.
Easy booking, picked up and dropped off on time. Several volcano locations with tour guide knowledge of their creation.
We had an amazing tour with Jerome! It ended up being only my partner and I on the tour, and Jerome made sure it was extra special! It was an amazing way to spend our last day in Auckland and get to see the city before we go! Thank you, Jerome!
I had a wonderful day very well organized by Harriet. It was not started as expected due to a miscommunication, but I was impressed with some beautiful views not only from top of Mt. Eden. Also her knowledge about the history and culture here. Not normal trip as you can see on the itinerary but it made my day more special :)
Jerome was an excellent and friendly tour guide with a thorough knowledge of the geology and landscapes of Auckland. It was a relaxed and enjoyable experience with a pace that kept you moving but was not too tiring but did involve a fair amount of easy walking.
We had such a great tour of 5 volcanoes in the Auckland area. Jerome our guide was extremely knowledgeable and provided a running commentary not only about the volcanoes but also the areas we drove through. We saw 2 volcanoes from lookouts but climbed around the rim of the other three. The tour was well paced and each climb was at our own pace. The visit to Raychoux Patisserie in Ellerslie to taste their award winning pies and pastries was an added bonus. This is a great tour.
This tour is a lot of one thing. That said it is well organized and the guide, Jerome was very informative and energetic. If you are motivated to spend half a day walking up different volcanos this is the tour for you.
Jerome was very knowledgeable and helpful when we asked questions. He knows a lot about the area and the volcanoes.
One in a lifetime experience, a moment to explore Auckland historic spot.An experience everyone should remember.
Perfect trip so much shown to us and learning about the history of Volcanoes there driving walking and climbing involved but well worth it and lots of stops for pictures
You get great views of the city from all over. Mike had answers for our questions and was considerate of our abilities on the hills. He knew the history well.
It was a very informative tour! I learned lots about local geography as well as history. The guide picked us up on time. The group size was just 7 people. The young guide, Jerome, was very pleasant and shared many interesting stories of the area. I was hoping to hike up more of the volcanoes, but a couple of them were just standing at the bottom and talking about them. It was worth the time and money.
We had a wonderful time with our tour guide Jerome. The parks and volcanoes were beautiful and Jerome had a wealth of information and stories about both the volcanoes and local tradition. We hardly recommend the volcano tour.
Excellent tour very informative and you get to see all the best views of the city. You won't see the city the same way after the tour.
Our guide was great and full of interesting facts. Had great views of the volcano craters and amazing views of Auckland.
Informative with regard to Māori culture, history and politics, as well as some of Aotearoa's volcanic geology and botany. We visited 5 volcanic sites, with calculated rest stops up the hills for breathers and discussions. We learned about each of the areas, and about sites of interest in other areas of Auckland. Our Apple health app listed that we climbed 25 flights and walked over 10,000 steps. There were bathroom breaks and a stop at a bakery for a tasty mince pie (self-pay). The weather was sunny and warm. Shorts and T-shirt for this kind of weather. Well worth the time and tour cost. Thank you, Jerome.
Very interesting tour. Great overview on volcanoes in the Auckland area. Beautiful scenery as well. Length of tour was good and we got a small break to have some delicious snacks from a local bakery. Enjoyed our day with Jerome. Do be mindful there is a good deal of uphill and downhill walking. And bring your sunscreen and water!
Excellent tour of the volcanoes surrounding Auckland. Mike was an excellent source of information on the formation and subsequent habitation of the volcanic hills and craters. Great tour that took us through a lot of Auckland
This is one of the BEST tours/excursions I did while in Auckland. Mike was an amazing guide! He is very knowledgeable and passionate about how volcanos play such an important role in Auckland. I wish I had booked this tour on day one as I would have loved to have taken additional tours that Mike does.
This was an amazing tour and our guide Jerome was very knowledgeable and personable ! It was well worth the money !
Jerome was fabulous! Very interesting history of Aucklands Volcanos. Look for Jerome in the LA Olympics playing field hockey. Go Jerome! Everyone else, take this excursion… great history, best views of the city!
Shoutout to Jerome, who is a new guide! He die an amazing job and provided a lot of information about the volcanos and answered every question we had.
The experience was outstanding. Jerome, our guide, was very knowledgeable not only about the volcanoes but all the landmarks we saw and the city itself. Jerome gave valuable insights and answered all questions while taking care to make sure everyone could keep up. Jerome also gave us extra time when needed. The length of the visit (around 5 hours) was ideal. The atmosphere was also great both on the ride and at the stops.
A much more in-depth overview of Auckland’s volcanic history than I imagined. The opportunity to visit these various volcanic sites is a must do on your visit to Auckland. The topography shown in the ad for this outing does not do justice to the actual topography you will witness and experience on your hike to the various sites. Mike’s knowledge of the volcanic history of the area as well as his knowledge of the Māori presence/culture in relation to the volcano’s was very educational. The vista’s from the various sights we visited were outstanding; 360 degree view from Mt Eden. You will be walking on gravel paths as well as constructed boardwalks and there are elevations to contend with but if you’re in decent shape this should not be an issue This tour made Auckland so more fascinating and understandable. This is a very worthwhile way to spend a 1/2 day and very cost effective for the knowledge you’ll receive and the sites you’ll visit. I would have really enjoyed taking my 8 and 13 year old grandchildren on this tour; very educational!
Fantastic tour! Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the volcanoes and the geology of New Zealand. He also wove in narratives on the history and culture of the island nation. He was very personable and friendly. On another note, he was the safest tour van driver that we have ever had in our years of traveling.
Amazing tour with Mike, he shared his knowledge generously and made the whole experience one to remember. It was amazing to learn more about the Māori culture and history, as well as learning about volcanos
Loved the explanation Mike provided about the variable landscape we were looking at & its formation. The history of the Maori people & an insight into the culture of the past.
Mike was fantastic! So knowledgeable about the volcanos and gave us some great views! 10/10 would recommend! Great way to start my morning!
Mike was an excellent tour guide! Got to learn about the history of the volcanoes and how they formed as well as their relation to the culture of New Zealand. He was also great to chat with and helped our group become fast friends and was very communicative throughout the whole process. Would definitely recommend!
What a great way to spend a half day in Auckland. Mike is incredibly knowledgeable and will share lots of historical facts about the volcanoes and the Maori people. The views themselves are incredible and it's such a great way to get out of the city and spend some time in nature. The hotel pick-up and drop-off is extremely convenient as well. I highly recommend including this tour in your visit to Auckland. Thank you Mike!
Mike, the tour guide, was very knowledgeable, accommodating, and patient. We had lots of questions, which he answered. We saw 4 main volcanoes, and he pointed out another 10 or so from the top of Mt. Eden. I recommend it highly
Mike was very knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the area as we went to the 4 volcanoes. We also had some amazing city views at the tops.
Mike kept us up dated about time and place of pickup. He was very informative about the volcanoes and the forming of craters. He also told us the history of the people who first arrived there. He was friendly with a good sense of humour. We also received great tour of the city which was a great bonus.
Do you want to hike in Auckland? Short hikes, worth every step. Mike was both knowledgeable and so helpful getting to know the city. If you like to understand the cities in which you travel this is a must see.
Mike was a great guide. Very knowledgeable about the geology and volcanic history of the area. Enjoyed seeing the great views of Auckland especially from Mt Eden. Would have liked to go to top of Wellington but had time constraints. Loved the bakery stop for a coffee and pastry. Kept to a designated timeline. Would definitely recommend this tour if you are interested in the volcanic characteristics of the area.
Very interesting tour hitting four volcano peaks across Auckland. Mike did a great job teaching us about the unique nature of Auckland and its underlying volcano field as well as sprinkling in some Māori and NZ history and culture. No spoilers but the volcanoes really are different than typical ones around the world. Beautiful views from multiple spots with a nice (but not strenuous) hike up a couple of the peaks.
My wife and I are 'Volcano Nerds" and have traveled around the world just to experience them, in Iceland, Hawaii, Italy, Yellowstone, Japan to name a few. We have taken many tours, but have never met a guide as knowledgeable as Mike. His knowledge is deep and exceeded our expectations. He answered every question with confidence. He accommodated our physical needs as senior citizens who love to travel. He has also traveled the world himself, so he can compare experiences with the seasoned traveler. We recommend this outstanding experience to our fellow adventurers!
Walking not too difficult. Knowledgeable driver/guide was friendly. Bring a jacket as the weather can change in the different areas
Definitely recommend this tour! Mike was a very knowledgeable and cool tour guide. Bring water and be ready to walk a bit. Fantastic views!
Loved this tour, guide was extremely knowledgeable and very attentive. There’s a fair amount of walking up hill, so plan accordingly, but we appreciated being able to see the volcanos from those vantage points instead of the usual tourist overlooks.
This was a fantastic tour. Mike took us to 4 volcano craters and gave us so much information that we would never have know about. I recommend everyone take this tour whether you live in Auckland or are visiting. The hiking is moderate even for a slower person like myself.
Amazing tour, views were awesome. Great commentary and nice pace. Highly recommend. Does require some climbing on volcanos, but on nice paths, most paved.
The experience of learning about Auckland's many volcanos with Mike was great. He have a history of Auckland's volcanic past along with a running commentary of the sites of the city.
We had a great day with Mike from Voltours. Our small group was flexible and moved at a great pace. He drove us to 5 stops visiting 4 volcano sites. Very knowledgeable guide who explains the volcano field that Auckland was built on and the history of the Maori people. He took us to various volcano sites across the city providing interesting details on each of the eruptions and the inhabitants. The last stop had great views of the city and ability to view both east and west coasts from a mountain top. If you are looking to learn something unique about Auckland, this tour and Mike is the way to go!
