An exceptional day led by a fantastic guide, thank you Danny! If you have one day to see this fantastic city then this is the tour… we saw and learnt so much. We gazed at stunning views and even caught a close up of The Americas Cup! Great lunch too in Riverview. 100% recommend.
It was a great Tour guide, Mike was very informative and made the day very enjoyable. We had a wine tasting that was great and then we went to a wonderful lunch. Mike got us back to the cruise in plenty of time.
Lisa and I had a great time with Mike. He took us all around the city with many stops. He new lots of facts and history. He was great!
Our luck was in - we were the only people on the tour - and our guide Danny gave us the perfect individual experience. Friendly, chatty and very knowledgeable, Danny showed us all around Auckland. We saw the Botanical Gardens, volcanoes, parks, exclusive residential neighbourhoods, a fantastic wine tasting, Mount Eden and chowed down on a Hokei Pokei ice cream. We even made an unscheduled stop at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron to take a peek at the Americas Cup trophy. Great tour, great tour guide, great experience.
Amazing Full-Day Auckland Scenic Tour – Highly Recommended I had an amazing experience with Auckland Scenic Day Tour from beginning to end. The day started perfectly; the scheduled pick-up time was 6:00am, and I was picked up at exactly 6:00am. That punctuality immediately gave me confidence that the tour was going to be well organised. Considering the quality of the package and the excellent delivery of the full-day tour, I felt the price and admission fees were absolutely worth it. Our tour guide, Danny, was fantastic. He was extremely knowledgeable about New Zealand’s history and culture and was engaging, friendly and interactive throughout the entire day. At the same time, he was a very safe and alert driver, which made the long day of travelling comfortable and relaxing. The major highlights were Hobbiton and the Waitomo Glowworm Caves, both of which were wonderful experiences. However, what made the tour even more enjoyable was that it was not limited to just the major attractions. We also had a morning coffee stop, lunch stop, which is part of the tour package, and visited the HIVE Honey Shop, which were lovely additions to the itinerary. Throughout the journey, Danny continued sharing interesting information and stories about the places we passed. He pointed out traditional and historical sites, monuments, rivers, businesses, racing tracks and other landmarks, while also sharing stories about famous New Zealanders and the history of different areas. This made the travelling between destinations just as interesting and educational as the main attractions themselves. The tour vehicle was excellent; very clean, cosy, comfortable, smooth to travel in and very well presented. Our group was also the perfect size, with only 10 people, so we never felt cramped. Danny did a great job managing the group and making sure everyone was comfortable and included throughout the day. I would definitely recommend Auckland Scenic Day Tour to anyone visiting Auckland who wants more than just a basic sightseeing trip. It provides a deeper and more meaningful introduction to New Zealand, with great value for money, excellent organisation and plenty of interesting information along the way. It is also a very family-friendly tour and an experience I would happily recommend to others. Thank you, Auckland Scenic Day Tour and Danny, for making the day so enjoyable, informative and memorable.
Auckland Scenic Tours helped me with our New Zealand trip. David Smith is a gem. I sent the company an email for some help for tours for 12 people (my family & friends). David called me instead to get an idea of what we wanted to do. Some other tour companies didn't even want to help. I was told to go to a travel agent instead. David helped set up 3 tours for our family. Sent me links so each family can pay for their own tours. He also gave us group discounts for our group. Loved our tour guides. Mike for our wine tour. We thoroughly enjoyed our steak lunch at Kemeu River winery. Liam for our Rotorua tour was so friendly. He recommended restaurants. Taught us a few NZ slang and patiently explained Rugby to us. Nelson for our Hobbiton and Glow worm tour was so attentive. He always checked on us to make sure we were doing ok. David also referred me to another company for airport pick up. I highly recommend this company. David Smith will definitely take care of you. Thank you again! See you again soon New Zealand!
Mike was a great tour guide and he took us to many wonderful Auckland sights! We had a great lunch n
Valuable incites and sights around Auckland…covers a lot of ground during a very enjoyable day! Highly recommended…
This is a very extensive tour of Auckland. Went to many elevated areas to get panoramic views of the city. Mt Eden was a challenging hike and offered some amazing views of the city from every direction. The winery was nice.
Danny was a great guide and insured a wonderful experience Only 9 on our tour which made it nicer and easier
Mike was great - extremely friendly and informative. He had a lot of personal insight that made the tour even better.
Our tour guide, Mike, was exceptional! He was extremely knowledgeable in Auckland history and city sites. He make the tour extremely fun for the entire bus. He was very considerate of our needs and courteous.
Danny, our driver, a very interesting and smart guide, drove us around, gave us loads of info and chose a great venue for lunch. The company kept in touch, advising us of pick up times etc.
Danny drove around Auckland bay, stopping along the way for over views of the city, a visit to the glass arboretum, a walk around the War museum, a moderately easy short walk up Mt Eden crater, a lovely wine tasting at Soljan’s vineyard and lunch at River Head restaurant. All and more, as described in his Viator description. Wonderful day!
Great tour of Auckland! Danny, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the city and shared stories and history of the area and people. We had wonderful views of the entire city and waterways from the tops of two volcanoes and drove through beautiful neighborhoods. We learned about the origins of the city and people. A tour well worth taking if coming to Auckland!
A fun filled day-Danny was very knowledgeable about Auckland and it was a good pace! Winery was great! Definitely recommend’
This was an excellent tour of Auckland. We were very comfortable in a Mercedes Van and our guide, Danny, was very knowledgeable about the area. We really enjoyed his commentary. We had taken a previous half-day tour that went to a few of the same spots, but Danny showed us more at those sights that we had missed on our previous tour. We stopped at a lovely restaurant where we purchased wonderful, tasty dishes and enjoyed a beautiful view. It was truly an enjoyable day.
We had a good guide in Mike who shared many interesting anecdotes about his time as a guide in Auckland. Good itinerary, although the lunch at Riverside Tavern was an overhype for us.
Mike was our driver and guide… and was fantastic! A group of 10, he knew all our names, asked questions of each, and then gave the most knowledgeable, comprehensive and fun tour of Auckland imaginable! Gorgeous photo ops, historical sites, & well timed breaks! Would do this tour again in a heartbeat!
It was a great overview of Aukland and it's history. Danny our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable
Mike the bus driver was informative and provided great insight into Auckland and its history. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and sightseeing! Highly recommended to others.
Danny our guide was very friendly and informative. Made a large loop around the city. Especially liked the Gardens and the view from the crater. Nice stops for lunch and ice cream. Picked up and dropped off at hotel. No cheap knickknack stops. Day just flew by. Only issue was to see everything involved a lot of driving.
Fantastic way to visit Hobbiton and Waitomo Cave without having to drive! The guide, Shelley, was super knowledge and a lot of fun.
An amazing tour with our guide, Mike! He was knowledgeable. Friendly, funny and accommodating! We enjoyed all the different places we visited especially Mt Eden. The view from the top was spectacular! Our lunch at The Landing was the best - with the New Zealand steak. ribs, veggie burger, pork belly and fish and chips! -overlooking the river! Thank you Mike for a memorable visit of Auckland!
We had an excellent day with our guide David. He listened to our interests and planned the day accordingly. He was a very genial and knowledgable guide. It made our trip memorable and very special and one we would strongly recommend to our friends.
This is a fantastic, comprehensive tour with a friendly, knowledgeable and helpful tour guide. I highly recommend it.
Very good overall. Brenda, our guide was excellent. The restaurant where we stopped for lunch was well worth it.
Although it was raining, our guide had umbrellas for us! We had a wonderful overview of Auckland, from the city to the suburbs to the countryside. Loved the gardens and the overlook.
The tour guide Mike was wonderful! He drove us safely all over Auckland with informative commentary and stops at each place described in the tour overview. Great tour!
Mike was a great tour director! Very knowledgeable and friendly. He provided a lot of history about the area.
Informative and relaxing experience that helps you get a feel for the highlights of Auckland. Good restaurant for lunch! Mike is a kind and knowledgeable guide!
Great overview of Auckland. In addition the wine tasting was terrific and the lunch stop had wonderful service, a warm staff and great food.
Our guide Danny collected us from our hotel promptly, and entertained us throughout the day with stories of Auckland. Unfortunately the weather was against us, horrific wind and rain, but we managed Mount Eden (albeit soaked on the way down), and it was lovely to see the Auckland suburbs, both old and new. An excellent full lunch at The Riverhead Tavern, before journeying to Devonport, and around the harbour area. Despite the weather we had a great day, and thanks to Danny for his patience. Highly recommend this tour company
Danny was a fantastic guide and made our experience a lot of fun in spite of unusually cold, windy and rainy conditions. He was extremely knowledgeable, attentive and engaging. We got drenched hiking up one volcano and nearly blown off another in 60 mile an hour wind gusts. These conditions are very unlikely to happen on any given tour and I have not reduced our rating for the weather. The bus was comfortable and the sites we visited were awesome. The lunch spot we went to was a pub more than 100 years old and the food and service were great. The information and insights Danny shared were very interesting, so we learned a lot about the key sites and the history, culture, economy, geology and fauna and flora of Auckland. I would highly recommend this tour for your first day in town, and I would very enthusiastically recommend Danny as a guide.
The tour was a great way to see the highlights of Auckland - different neighborhoods, the countryside, a winery, and more. Brenda our guide was excellent. We learned so much, she answered all of our questions, and she’s a great driver.
This Auckland City Tour is a comprehensive tour of all parts of Auckland! A good way to learn more about the city and see famous spots in every corner of this large, spreadout city! Our guide, Brenda, was very knowledgeable about the history and all the sights we saw along the tour, was very considerate to pull-over for quick photo ops, and very capable at moving the 15passenger through the busy city, while giving us a running commentary of everything we were seeing!! We especially enjoyed the Winter Gardens, the wine tasting at Soljans Winery, lunch at Riverhead Tavern (circa 1857, NZ's oldest riverside tavern!), the disappearing gun at the South Battery, and the fantastic views from Mt.Eden!! An all-around excellent tour!
I had a wonderful day visiting Hobbiton and the Glow Worm Caves with my two kids. The tour was very well structured and perfectly organized. Our guide and driver, Steven, was incredibly kind and attentive to our needs, making the experience easy and enjoyable for the whole family. His knowledge of Kiwi and Māori culture was impressive, and the stories behind the Hobbiton movie set were truly mind-blowing. Both the movie set and the Glow Worm Caves were unforgettable highlights. Highly recommend this tour, especially for families!
As an out-of-towner, this tour gave us the chance to visit all of Auckland. You will see the surroundings beaches, countryside, across the harbor bridge and more. It does not focus on downtown itself which was perfect since we could do that on foot. You get a local’s perspective which was magnificent. Mike, our driver, was on time, friendly, full of useful information and made our trip special. So glad we did this!
Excellent and expansive tour of this beautiful city! Denny and Brenda did an outstanding job of narrating our journey and answering our questions. Highly recommend!
Mike was on time to pick us up at the hotel. He was actually early. Mike knows the city and knew where to take us for the best views for photos. He knew the history of the city, and even arranged for us to stop at a grocery store to pick up some snacks . HIs lunch stop was perfect We were able to see a local pub. I would highly recommend this tour, especially if you're off a cruise ship getting on a cruise ship or only have a limited time.In Auckland.
This is a great tour for families and get a good view of the Auckland. Our tour guide Michael was very knowledgeable, guided us through the city very well and a great sense of humor.
Danny was a fantastic guide and really made this excursion enjoyable. His knowledge was excellent and he provided good natured commentary throughout the excursion. We learnt lots. Danny engaged so naturally with all of the guests. Fantastic views of Auckland and a great lunch at a nice pub (not included in the cost). The wine tasting was also enjoyable. Wholly recommend this.
Today was an absolutely magical day. We spent the day with Stephen/Steven as our guide, and he was so kind and welcoming. The admissions were built into the price, and the tour was in smaller crowd sizes, which made it fun to enjoy! He shared much about New Zealand, the tour, and made us feel like more than tourists. For a husband and wife duo who has dreamed of New Zealand for a long time, he made it special.
We had Danny all to ourselves today as the only ones booked on the trip. Having only one day in Auckland before a cruise this was the perfect day sightseeing for us. We saw so many beautiful places around the city. Danny was fun to be with and very informative about every Auckland. Stopped at a lovely location for lunch by the river. Hotel drop off and pick up too, couldn’t ask for more. Highly recommend.
Mike was our guide for the day and he was really fun and interesting. I liked seeing sights around various vantage points around the big city. Lovely neighborhoods and fun stops Along the way. Wine tasting was quick But fine and then lunch was great. Really great day and felt I learned quite a lot about this city and its culture.
We had 1 day in a big city. How to see it all? Well, Mike found a way. It was a perfect itinerary. Educational, scenic, full of great experiences. We had a fabulous time!
This was our first Viator to Auckland and NZ. Our guide was Mike - he was friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He barely stopped talking for the 8 hours - and that was a good thing!! His stories were filled with humor and facts about all aspects of Auckland. The tour goes east, west, north and south to all corners of the area and provide an in depth insight into the city. The lunch stop was enjoyable as was the wine tasting. We are bringing some of that back to the states! All in all a worthwhile day.
Excellent tour! Small group tour was perfect and our fellow travelers were fun to interact. Good pace and interesting assortment of stops. We would hightly recommend for any age.
Amazing experience. Mike was outstanding host and guide! We covered all the interesting tourist spots.
