This tour offers the absolute best combination of personal warmth and cultural education. We’ve enjoyed many privately guided tours over the decades and none surpassed Donna’s generous spirit, breadth of knowledge and authenticity. We prepare before we travel, but this, all-day guided tour far exceeded our hopes to learn history, gain cultural education, and do new things that combined to grant us an experience and a depth of engagement that made the long journey to NZ totally worthwhile. A few details: a prompt and warm greeting, an exceptionally comfortable SUV (Mercedes), local snacks and a private lunch. A wonderful driver and guide, Donna went out far of her way to be sure we saw things we’d only read about and guided us to an understanding and appreciation of New Zealand and Maori, history and culture. It was a wonderful experience and the highlight of a long trip. Must do!
We had Donna as our guide, and she was fabulous. She went over Māori history and customs and took us all over Auckland showing us significant and jus interesting places. It was the highlight of our entire vacation. It was great having one on one time with her, and there was only one other ouple. I love small group tous.
Had a great day, very relaxing we saw everything that Auckland has to offer from volcanic donuts, eateries, rain forest, waterfalls and Maori culture. Donna was our tour guide she was very warm, friendly, knowledgeable and even taught us some Māori words. Highly recommended
It was an absolutely epic Māori tour delivered in Auckland for our clients. Ceillhe went above and beyond sharing the culture, stories, and knowledge with such generosity, warmth, and pride. Our clients felt genuinely welcomed and deeply moved by the experience, and they’ve been talking about it nonstop. Thank you for the care you put into every detail and for creating something so meaningful and memorable. We’re grateful to partner with you and look forward to sending more guests your way.
My mom and I were so grateful to Ceillhe for giving us the best experience possible. We learned so much and got to see more of Auckland than we imagined! We feel so lucky, we were very well looked after. I highly recommend taking this tour, you won't regret it.
This tour was an excellent experience, our tour guide Donna was nice and knowledgeable about the area and history. We learned a lot about Māori culture and got to see incredible scenery. Highly recommended.
Our tour guide Donna, pick us up from our hotel exactly on time. Donna explained she is Maori. She spent all day with us explaining and telling us about the Maori people, there history and traditions. One of the highlights was the Maori cultural presentation at the Auckland War Memorial Museum. The Maori presenters were very talented and convincing communicators of the Maori culture. They engaged with us in the audience making us feel a more like a part of the presentation. Donna knowledge of the flora and fauna was exceptional. A lot of the vegetation is indigenous to New Zealand with some trees and plants having exceptional medicinal qualities. We can recommend Donna to anyone wishing for a full day experiencing an exceptional introduction to the Maori culture, Auckland along with incredible views of the area.
This private tour was an amazing introduction to Auckland and the Māori culture and well worth the money. Our guide Donna was so knowledgeable and so much fun to be with. She was totally willing to share her personal experiences and Māori culture with us and explain so much of the country’s history, geography, flora and fauna and traditions. We spent nine hours with Donna but the day was so relaxed that it didn’t even feel like that much time had passed. Time flies when you’re having fun. I highly recommend Time Unlimited and the one day Auckland Māori tour - and ask for Donna. As she will tell you, there is only two degrees of separation!! Kathy L Jan 19, 2026
We really enjoyed our tour with Donna and learnt a lot about the Māori culture and enjoyed visiting Piha beach especially . Beautiful stretch of beach but very strong surf needless to say we did not paddle or swim ! We had a whole day trip with Donna and the next day I did a half day trip with her where I purchased some green stone for family under her guidance and we visited some of the very attractive suburbs surrounding Auckland city . Donna was very personable and made the whole experience fun . I felt we met as strangers but left as friends !
Luxury Māori tour by time unlimited tours was excellent Donna our guide was friendly knowledgeable courteous and looked after us with great care it was fascinating to learn about Māori culture she explained it very well seeing nature big tree black sand beach and many other things was excellent also at the museum the show by Māori people fo their culture explanation was amazing I highly recommend Donna our guide and unlimited tours very highy
We had a wonderful time on the Māori tour. It was a highly enjoyable, inspiring and very meaningful day trip. Donna and Drew were fabulous hosts and tour guides: engaging, warm, informative and very professional. They explained in detail and in an interesting, highly interactive way important points about Auckland’s rich culture and traditions and natural landscapes. We thoroughly recommend the tour to others. Anand and Kavita Kulkarni
Our guide, Donna Slack, was amazing and we learned so much about Māori history and traditions. The Māori experience at the Museum was outstanding and I was mesmerised!! Cannot praise this company, Donna, and the Auckland Maori Maori Tour highly enough!
We went on those out and had the most wonderful time with Donna. Informative, interesting and full of history. A truly memorable experience.
This experience was one of the best of our 7 week holiday across Singapore, Australia, New Zealand & Kuala Lumpur. Donna, our guide, who was of Maori descendent, was excellent. Her aim was to take us to some of her favourite places in Auckland giving us the Maori stories relating to those places. It was a truly lovely day visiting some very special places. It's a must if you intend to visit Auckland and want to see some spectacular places with great commentary. Thank you Donna!!
From ancient roots to modern day - the sights and the story - inspiringly and enthusiastically shared by our wonderful guide, Donna. We were like family at the end of a fantastic day.
Great tour, a must do if you if you have limited time in Auckland. Bonnie our guide was great, took us to all the best places to see, plus we had a nice lunch to top it all off.
Donna was amazing. A wealth of information and so lovely. We really enjoyed the tour and learning about the Māori and New Zealand
We really enjoyed our tour with Donna and Harry. We got a very good background on the Māori culture and saw a lot of the geography in and around Auckland.
We took the TIME Unlimited Tour with our indigenous Maori guide, Brevis. It was truly an in depth way to experience everything Maori. We learned history, culture, language, and rituals. Brevis was an incredible resource, as well as a lot of fun. The tour also took us to some stunning sights in Auckland. It was a perfect way to appreciate the city and it’s fascinating often complicated history. -Roz and Judy
What a wonderful day. Breviss was an absolutely wonderful guide. Knowledable, funny. It was educational, fun and isnspiring. Anyone heading to Auckland with an interest in history, nature and the Maori culture should ABSOLUTELY do this!
We had Harry and Maggie as our guides. They were amazing and so friendly. The weather was a big cloudy but we still had incredible views and were able to learn some things about the Maori culture. The snacks that were provided were very good and had a fair variety of options.
Breviss was the perfect tour guide. He was jovial and charismatic. He knew his audience and how to make sure they had a good time. The tour is an all day event. Breviss picked us up and took us to see some of the historic sites in Auckland. Every place he took us had an epic view of either the ocean or the city. We ate at great restaurant before heading off on a drive to see the beach. Snacks and water were available throughout the trip. At each stop Breviss gave us a bit of history for the location and endeavored to teach us a few words in Maori. He made it a welcoming environment to ask questions about both the Maori culture and their history. We learned a great deal about the culture and Breviss spoke with clear passion about the challenges faced by the Maori people; both in their colonial past and in the present. You really couldn't ask for a more entertaining and informative tour of New Zealand in such a short time. The trip itself does last the whole day from 9am until approximately 4:30pm. But it was well worth the time and money.
We were truly entertained with humor and given detailed information from a Maori perspective. We saw grand vistas and had culturally rich experiences.
It was very nice day. A lot of information about Maori culture. Nice trip to the top of mountin and to the beach. Very friendly guides. Pick-up from the hotel was pre-informed and in time. Lunch menu was good and place for that cosy.
We enjoyed it very much, Henry was very informed about the history of the places we met, he was very respectful with nice personality.
Our guide, Breviss, was a wonderful tour guide. His openness and sharing of info about the culture was great. Also he has a great personality.! Thank you for the lovely lunch and tour. Dori and Thomas.
Brevis was a fantastic guide to the Maori culture of New Zealand as well as the beuatiful sites in and aroud the city. We really enjoyed our full-day Maori tour.
A day out around the greater Auckland area, learning about aspects of Moari culture and history in the area. We visited locations on the city and outside, our guide keeping the conversation going throughout. It is a relatively small number of people so quite personal too. Highly recommended.
Amazing experience! Learnt so much about the Māori culture and the country as a whole! Breviss was a great guide, and loved hearing his perspective given he is Māori himself. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Auckland!
Breviss was a superb guide. Yes, we saw some great things (1,000 year old Kauri tree!!), but more importantly we left with a greater appreciation of and respect for the Maori culture. Thank you.
This was a great overview of all that Auckland has to offer with the Māori culture at its core. The guide was steeped in the city’s history and native Māori. I was hoping for a bit more of the life of the Māori people and culture before the European explorers arrived. But overall, well done.
Ceilhe was a wonderful tour guide, as she not only knew Auckland and its environs well, but she talked a lot about her Maori heritage. We learned so much from her and especially liked our visit with her to the Auckland in Museum. It was a wonderful introduction to New Zealand!
The tour was good, allthough we had bigger expectations. Good tourguides as well and so was the bus. All concidered the price was a little too much and €150 a person would be a better price for a tour like this and the €237,= a person we have paid was really way overpriced.
The tour was not what was advertised. While there were charming aspects and the guides were friendly, the stops and the information included didn't line up with what was indicated as the tour. For example, we did not go to several of the places listed, nor did we see the cultural things indicated in the photos. While we had a nice time, it was not worth the price paid, and we were left a bit disappointed.
Although the terrible storms which battered their community and added issues with barnacles on the bottom of our cruise ship prevented us from ever reaching New Zealand, this family run small company were compassionate and kind to us over our cancelling our booking. I was also in a bit of a state due to other issues and perhaps not the easiest of people to deal with at that point. But they understood completely. No formality of a large tour company, just excellent ans kind personal contact. I wish I could have done the trip just to meet them , and I hope I can make it another time. I am sure it would have been a superb day
Our Maori tour with Ceillhe and Harry was one of true highlights of our trip to Australia and New Zealand. A prior reviewer (Vera M) captioned it best: "Soulful journey through Maori culture". Our trip to the west coast from Auckland included a rainforest, waterfall, black sand beach, nature center, lovely lunch and city sights and views. It was a wonderful day - but what made it wonderful were our hosts. Ceillhe and Harry's warmth and kindness enveloped our little group as they spoke of Maori customs and culture. By the end of the day we were all best friends. Truly, this was one of the best tours we have ever been on and we can't recommend Time Unlimited enough.
The knowledge and professionalism of the 2 guides, Ceillhe and Brev, was exceptional. Several couples in the small van had been unable to complete their long-anticipated cruise of NZ port cities due to biofouling on their vessel. The guides took note of this and really went out of their way to create a great group spirit throughout the day. They brought us to a stunning nature reserve on the West Coast, to Piha, including the beach where The Piano was filmed with a stop at a waterfall en route, to the Wintergarden restaurant in Auckland for a lovely lunch, to a marae that was built to honor deceased military soldiers, to Devenport and finished with a scenic view overlooking the harbor. I especially appreciated the plant knowledge and transmission of Maori cultural values that Ceillhe shared. She gifted us with a cd of traditional Maori music at the very end, so special! Fantastic to gain a sense of the history of the land and peoples of this part of the North Island. I appreciate Swain Tour's recommendation to do this tour. Highly recommend!
The day was amazing, hearing all the history and knowledge that Ceillhe had to share with us. Would definitely recommend and look forward to doing it again
Spending the day on a private tour with Ceillhe, who is not only knowledgeable and personable, created memories in our minds of a proud culture. From cityscapes, waterfronts, islands, beaches, partaking in a fabulous lunch, and a stop for some chocolates, made for a wonderful day. John, Bobbie, John, Lisa
Cheillie was our guide and she was absolutely wonderful. We loved the history and culture aspect and she certainly brought the island and city to life for us. We would definitely recommend this tour!!!
Lovely day. We now understand more about the culture. Lunch was good and I am vegetarian. Museum was very interesting. Beautiful waterfall and nature. Good, informative guides, though I would have preferred if she had talked less on the way back to allow for better resting or napping.
Company is Maori-owned & our guide was also Maori. Our intern- guide was extremely knowledgeable as well. We just completed a series of tours in Australia & New Zealand. We travel a lot & this was by far the BEST tour. Having two guides made it extra enjoyable. Sofia & Nina worked together brilliantly & the entire day flew by with ease. Please be sure to do the museum visit with the performance- you will learn so much & it is beautifully done. Sofia was great at explaining & engaging. She was so warm & wonderful & open about telling her story & history of NZ.
I can honestly say our tour with Sofia was among the top we have ever experienced. Her knowledge of Maori culture and truly caring approach was simply unsurpassed. We explored Auckland museum, and a delicious lunch at a lovely garden, had access to some of the most incredible views in the world - from Piano beach to a tucked away waterfall to black beach she gave us a day we will always remember! Do not hesitate to book you won’t be disappointed
This was an amazing experience. My wife and I got to learn about the culture and history of Auckland. We got to see many places most of which we would not have known about. It was a truly memorable experience and I would recommend it to a friend.
We have been exceedingly fortunate to travel around the world, where we have had innumerable guides. The guide that we had (Kathy Livermore) was among the finest we've been able to experience. We couldn't have learned more nor been given more sensitive insights than what we gleaned from Kathy! The car was lovely. The stops were ideal for the beginning of our New Zealand adventure, and the restaurant where we stopped for lunch was delicious! We give TIME UNLIMITED TOURS NEW ZEALAND the very highest rating!
We did and saw everything that was described in the brochure (which I read after the tour) and Keri our guide was absolutely lovely. She shared so much about Maori customs and keeping the Maori culture alive in the modern age. This tour definitely ticks the luxury box with vehicle used, presentation of everything and restaurant we went to for lunch. In saying this, I'm not sure what we were expecting with a Maori tour as opposed to an Auckland tour but I'm not sure this hit the mark for us. I'm thinking it would have been better if I'd done a little more research on what I wanted to know more about of Maori culture......and maybe do something a little more "hands on" with the culture.
The guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. The tour provides awesome views of Auckland, visits to parks and a Maori cultural museum, and visits a beautiful beach on the West Coast. I would recommend this tour to anyone!
Sophia provided us with a fantastic Maori tour. She was on-time, enthusiastic, personable and knowledgable. Our tour included breathtaking, secluded and historic locations as well as the best local lunch experience. By the end of the tour my wife and I felt as though we had met a new friend that taught us so much about the country...........
The Auckland Maori Tour was absolutely wonderful! Our tour guide was Hinauri and she took us on a beautiful tour around the city highlighting the places that had cultural and historical significance to the Maori. She was an amazing person, and the tour was so educational and interesting! I would recommend it for anyone who wants to get a bit more out of their trip to Auckland than just seeing than sights!
