2 Day Tour Auckland To Hobbiton, Waitomo, Rotorua And Taupo

We recently did a second 2 day tour with Cheeky Kiwi out of Auckland to Hobbiton, Waitomo Glow Worm Caves, Rotorua and Lake Taupo. Fantastic experience with a small group, well led by Trent who guided us every step of the way to all these main locations as well as, Blue Springs, Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland, Champagne Pools, Lady Knox Geyser, Huka Falls and Hamilton Gardens. Brilliant all round experience and great conversion with Trent all the way. Well done again Cheeky Kiwi and Trent.

We had an outstanding experience with Cheeky Kiwi Tours. What impressed us most was their commitment to their customers. Our Cheeky Kiwi tour yesterday was absolutely fantastic. Trent, our driver, was prompt, incredibly friendly, and went out of his way to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable. He was always available for questions and shared helpful information throughout the day, which really enhanced the experience. The vehicle was spotless, comfortable, and very well maintained, and the safety briefing at the start was thorough and reassuring. Tour guide Trent absolutely made this excursion unforgettable. He was fun, knowledgeable, engaging, and kept the entire day running smoothly from start to finish. Along the way he shared great stories, local history, and interesting facts about New Zealand that made the drive just as enjoyable as the destinations themselves. As an added bonus, he even included an extra stop at a kiwi sanctuary, which was such a special experience and showed how much he genuinely wanted everyone to have the best possible day. The entire excursion from Auckland to Rotorua exceeded expectations. Hobbiton Movie Set was pure magic — beautifully maintained and incredibly immersive. Walking through the Shire and enjoying a drink at the Green Dragon Inn truly felt like stepping into Middle-earth. The glow worm caves were equally amazing. Drifting quietly through the cave beneath thousands of glowing lights was surreal and one of the most unique experiences I ever had. This was easily one of the highlights of my New Zealand trip, and I highly recommend it — especially if you get Trent as your guide!

We had Trent as our guide and thoroughly enjoyed the time. Trent was warm, knowledgeable and you can tell he genuinely enjoys connecting with people and sharing about New Zealand. Tim of the Long Mane picked us up at Adina Brittomart & took us to Hobbiton to visit Hobbitholes & have a flagon at the Green Dragon. Then it was off to Te Puia Rotorua to watch the earth spew! He is a great guide who loves his job and relates to his passengers more like new friends. The trip was terrific and we enjoyed the day! We spent just the right amount of time at each venue and Tim kept us entertained even during the long drives. Knowledgeable & funny! Took us to a great little town to see the corrugated steel art & have some local ice cream! Definitely a big recommendation to Cheeky Kiwi & Tim! The only issue I had with Tim was that I was jealous of his hair! Just kidding 🤣😂🤣 chadsamelsieberni

Our 2 day tour from Auckland to Hobbiton, Waitomo, Rotorua & Taupō was amazing!. We joined a group of fellow travelers and had lots of fun throughout the trip. My parents and I had an amazing time with Jeoffrey as our guide. The group was small and we never felt rushed with all the activities we did. This being our first visit, we learned a lot about this beautiful country. It was a special trip and we are grateful for our experience.

He was knowledgeable, conscientious, considerate, and thoughtful throughout the entire trip. I had a really amazing time during this tour! We saw a lot of really beautiful places and our tour guide, Trent, always had interesting information to share about the country and the tourist attractions we visited. I had a lot of fun talking with him and I also made some lovely friends. I definitely recommend !

Over all great two days. Vicki was a wonderful tour guide. FUNNY, helpful, knowledgeable and overall great person! Every stop was interesting.... some more so. Hobbiton was amazing and well organized. Huka Fall and the river wre beautiful. Overnight in Rotorua, very nice town. We wound up at the Night Market and were over powered with delicious food smells! We would highly recommend this tour.... and if you are lucky, have Vicki as your guide.

That was fun! Kim did a great job, and I enjoyed the tour on both days. We had some extra stops that weren’t in the schedule, which was nice.

Our guide Geoffrey was outstanding! his deep knowledge of the culture and New Zealand made this a very educational and fun tour. He was not just a guide but a passionate ambassador for New Zealand. We traveled with John for 2 day tour. He was wonderful, enabling us to get the more than we planned with many impromptu stops as time permitted. He was knowledgeable and if he didn't know the answers , researched and shared them later. He was fun and thoughtful. We had a health challenge which he made adaptations for. We got more that we paid for and couldn't recommend him more highly!

Make sure you got on some good walking shoes and be prepared to be bursting with excitement. The buses are used are pretty small but we were extra small on our tour which gave us a lot of time to see a lot more things with the smaller crowds. This is definitely best for short trips.

This 2-day tour was the absolute highlight of our trip. From The Glow Worm Caves (Waitomo) to Hobbiton to Rotorua and Taupo, we never stopped being amazed by the beauty and wonder that is New Zealand. Our tour guide John was AWESOME and kept us entertained and laughing throughout the whole trip. Would definitely do again!

The tour guide Pearl, went above & beyond. The sites were jaw dropping amazing. Hobbiton was so magical. The glow worm caves were spectacular. We enjoyed stopping in Rotorua, swimming in the thermal pool and stopping to wade in the warm thermal stream. The geothermal pools were a feast of incredible, natural beauty. Pearl was so helpful and anticipated our every need. The two day tour packed in a lot with extra stops of interest! We loved it and I would highly recommend it! Thank you to Pearl for your kindness and hospitality.

This tour was great! It included many of the highlights of the north island. Matt was an awesome tour guide! Very nice, kept us on schedule, and gave us tips on how best to do each experience and what pics to get. 🙂 He also had recommendations on what activities we could do with our extra day in Auckland. Would recommend!

My travel group booked cheeky kiwi and we had such a great experience with John. He was a funny guy and you could tell he loved the country so much and was proud to show you around. He made sure we got great views and photos and provided us with all the insider knowledge for travelling NZ
