We had a pleasant stay overall. The location was fantastic, being right above the train station, which made getting around Auckland really convenient. We also really enjoyed the chocolate hour — it was a lovely touch and something we looked forward to. There were a few small things that could have been smoother. When we arrived early before check-in to store our luggage, we were asked to tag our bags and move them to the luggage area ourselves. It wasn't a big issue, but we were a little surprised. On checkout, the staff were happy to help with our bags, which we appreciated. Unfortunately, we found two cockroaches in our room on the first night (photos/video attached), which was disappointing. One of them was hiding in a small gap underneath the furniture in our original room. The replacement room we were moved to didn't have the same gap, so hopefully this helps the hotel identify any potential hiding spots. We reported it to reception and, while it took a little while to get an update, the team did move us to another room with more space and provided complimentary breakfast for two. We appreciated that they took the issue seriously and tried to make things right. Overall, there were many things we enjoyed about our stay — the location, chocolate hour, and friendly staff were all highlights. The cockroach incident was unfortunate and did affect our experience, but we appreciated the way the hotel handled it and hope it can be addressed for future guests.

We had an awesome ‘staycation’ at our hometown Mövenpick hotel. We went into the city early and even though check-in wasn’t till 3pm our room was ready so we used the valet parking and dropped our bags off giving us a couple of hours to wander downtown get some lunch at Commercial Bay and get back to the hotel in time for the Chocolate Hour which is complementary for guests. The lovely receptionist also gave us a couple of drink vouchers which we weren’t expecting but were very grateful for. Chocolate Hour at 4pm was perfect and the view from the Boda Restaurant on the 13th floor was fantastic which we also enjoyed at dinner. The service and meals were excellent and breakfast had a great selection including gluten free options. The only minor issue was the aircon in our room was set quite chilly but we solved that by turning the fan off. Overall we highly recommend a stay at Mövenpick whether you’re an overseas visitor wanting a central location close to the transport hub - trains or ferries- or a local just wanting to stay the night in the vibrant CBD to enjoy the many shopping and food outlets available in the inner city. The Saturday morning market at Britomart is just around the corner from the hotel and worth a visit. Having lived in Auckland all our lives and spending most of that time in the burbs we were pleasantly surprised at the change in downtown Auckland from what it used to be many years ago. It felt good so thanks Mövenpick 👍🏻
Solid central Auckland stay with a fun chocolate twist We stayed at the Mövenpick Auckland and found the rooms to be exactly what you’d expect from a solid 3.5–4 star hotel — clean, comfortable, and modern without being overly luxurious. Nothing groundbreaking, but everything worked well and the beds were comfortable. The location is excellent. There’s a supermarket right next door (super handy for snacks and essentials), and you’re spoiled for choice with cafés, restaurants, and food options all within one block. Perfect for anyone who wants to be right in the middle of the city. The standout highlight for us was the daily Chocolate Hour — a really memorable and delicious experience! Free chocolate treats every afternoon made the stay feel special and was a lovely touch. Overall, a convenient and enjoyable base for exploring Auckland. Would stay again.
My husband and I came from Fiji to New Zealand for the first time. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the hotel was very clean and well located. We had McDonald’s and kfc just around the corner and even though most shops were pretty much closed for Easter break, we had a fun time. We got an upgrade on our stay which we appreciated a lot. We had a very good view of the harbor! The room service was done every day which made us love our stay even more. The mini fridge was stacked well, we had a good iron in our room and a good hair dryer too. We arrived around 2am and there were 2 people at the reception with a very friendly smile. We were really pleased as our last stay was quite unfriendly when we went to check in at night in Brisbane. The rooftop restaurant was beautiful with an amazing view. We had the opportunity of enjoying chocolate hour as well. Overall, I would definitely come back and stay here.
I always enjoy my business trips to Auckland, partly because it means I get to stay at the Mövenpick Auckland, easily my favorite hotel in the city. The rooms are always very clean and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere feels calm and welcoming after a busy day. The staff are consistently friendly and professional, which makes every stay smooth and pleasant. The breakfast is also excellent, with plenty of tasty options to start the day right. Looking forward to my next stay already!
