Thermopylae was a bucket list item for me. There isn’t a lot there but it was great to visit and take in the site. Delphi was an excellent site. Our driver was professional and friendly. Overall we had a great day.

Leonidas was a king of the Greek city-state of Sparta, and the 17th of the Agiad line, a dynasty which claimed descent from the mythological demigod Heracles and Cadmus. Leonidas was son of King Anaxandridas II. He succeeded his half-brother King Cleomenes I to the throne in 489 BC. Leonidas had a notable participation in the Second Persian War, where he led the allied Greek forces to a last stand at the Battle of Thermopylae (480 BC) while attempting to defend the pass from the invading Persian army; he died at the battle and entered myth as the leader of the 300 Spartans. While the Greeks lost this battle, they were able to expel the Persian invaders in the following year.
Next to the monument of Leonidas, in the historic Thermopylae, lies the innovative museum of the Lamia Municipality, dedicated to the 480 BC battle that changed the course of Greek history.
The Battle of Thermopylae was fought between an alliance of Ancient Greek city-states, led by King Leonidas I of Sparta, and the Achaemenid Empire of Xerxes I. It was fought in 480 BC over the course of three days, during the second Persian invasion of Greece.
Free time for lunch at a traditional Greek tavern with your friends and family.
The Tholos of Delphi is among the ancient structures of the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia in Delphi. The circular temple, a tholos, shares the immediate site with other ancient foundations of the Temple of Athena Pronaia, all located less than a mile east of the main ruins at Delphi, in the modern Greek regional unit of Phocis. The tholos is part of the Delphi UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Delphi Archaeological Museum is one of the principal museums of Greece and one of the most visited. It is operated by the Greek Ministry of Culture. Founded in 1903, it has been rearranged several times and houses the discoveries made at the Panhellenic sanctuary of Delphi, which dates from the Late Helladic (Mycenean) period to the early Byzantine era. Organized in fourteen rooms on two levels, the museum mainly displays statues, including the famous Charioteer of Delphi, architectural elements, like the frieze of the Siphnian Treasury, and ex-votos dedicated to the sanctuary of Pythian Apollo, like the Sphinx of Naxos.
The Temple of Apollo, god of music, harmony, light, healing, and oracles occupied the most important and prominent position in the Delphic Panhellenic Sanctuary. The edifice with the partially restored colonnade visible today dates to the 20th century BC and, according to ancient accounts, five different temples were built throughout history. The famous oracle, the Pythia, operated inside the temple, the location chosen, according to one tradition, due to a sacred chasm beneath the site emitting vapors, which were inhaled by the Pythia.

Great experience, Delphi was amazing.
Nicholas was very personable, and knowledgeable. He was a skilled driver and offered us interesting and useful background as we visited Thermopylae and Delphi. Thermopylae was interesting and it was a beautiful drive from there to Delphi. Delphi exceeded our expectations! Very interesting “navel” of the world!
Perfect day with the Best M****a in Greece! Kristos (spelling?), our driver and guide, my best m****a, you are one of the reasons Hellas is so great. We really enjoyed our time with you. EVERYTHING was five-star-perfect from 8.00 till 20.00 when you dropped us off. We even tried the restaurants you recommended, one of them twice. They were perfect, too! Best regards, Your Finnish M****A
We definitely recommend this trip. Our driver was Christos, who was excellent, very friendly, and very knowledgable. We would gladly hire him again. Due to traffic, the drive to Thermopylae took a bit longer than anticipated. There's very little at the site. We were glad to have seen it, but would say it shouldn't be a priority if you have limited time. We then drove to the town of Delphi, where Christos recommended a restaurant with excellent food and an incredible view of the surrounding countryside. We then went to the Delphi archaeological site, which was (at least for me) the highlight of our trip. We would note that it is a bit of a hike to see everything there, but it is worth it. And the views of the surrounding area are incredibly beautiful. The museum at the site is excellent.
My driver, George was amazing! Very knowledgeable, informative & helped make my experience all the better! Great driver and friendly. He went above and beyond! Thank you, George! Overall the experience was great. Definitely worth the full day to see everything.
Our day trip to Thermopylae and Delphi was no doubt amazing. It was a bit long but at the of the day this was not a factor. All credit goes to our driver George whose pleasing personality , depth of knowledge on Greek history and facts gets a 5 star. The trip was well planned and managed. We also spent some time at Arachova at the end of the trip. We also wish George succes in his profession.
A wonderful experience, both historically and visually. Spectacular views travelling to Thermopylae and Delfi. As Greek/Spartan history buffs, we were in awe of seeing the battle field, the sea and the place where Leonidas actually fell. The drive thru the charming town of Delfi was interesting, full of little restaurants and shops high in the mountains. The archeological site of Delfi is a work in process. There are a number of temples before you reach the top to the Oracle. Beware of very slippery marble steps as you climb, shoes with good grip are needed. Access to the coliseum and lower temple in the archeological site have been closed temporarily until repairs from a recent rockslide have been made. Christos of LS Tours was the best. His english was excellent, explanations when we had questions were thorough. He was very helpful, pleasant and made our tour very enjoyable.
We had the best time with Niccos!! Knowledgeable, friendly, efficient, very thoughtful and well-planned—everything you want! And the itinerary itself was fantastic. 👏🏼👏🏼 Highly recommend.
Delphi is amazing and a must see site. Stopping for lunch at Arachova was very nice as well. I would recommend Thermopylae only for those really interested in the history because there’s not much to see on the site itself. However, the highlight of the tour was our driver Christos. He took care of everything, stopped with us to grab breakfast and coffee when we hadn’t made breakfast plans yet, and really made the day for us. We were so happy we booked him again for an Athens tour the next day. Definitely ask for him if you book this experience.
George was a wonderful tour guide! He’s very knowledgeable on Greek history, mythology, and the area. We had a lovely day touring Delphi, Arachova, and other beautiful villages. The restaurant he took us to in Delphi was delicious and had the most spectacular view. I highly recommend George!
Michael is an excellent tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and solicitous of our comfort. The restaurant he suggested was excellent with a beautiful view. Also he came immediately when we texted to be picked up. A perfect day over all
Long day but very nice to see Thermopile and Delphi without a large crowd very pleased with this excursion. Nice driver too!
Chris was an excellent guide!! Very knowledgeable, sweet and an absolute gentleman. Open up doors for our tween girl and was having conversations with her. He took us to this amazing restaurant the food was amazing. I would highly recommend him as a guide. He made our day perfect!!
Fantastic guide. We took our 11 year old and 16 year old. Our 11 year old was getting motion sickness on way and he pulled over and was very kind. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch at a restaurant selected by our guide. Highly recommend this tour.
This was an amazing experience and Chris was an extraordinary guide. The personalized trip was what made it so amazing. He had so much history and knowledge that we talked the whole trip. Seeing Thermopylae and Delphi were great, and the lunch was extraordinary over the view of the valley accompanied by amazing food!!! we had time to shop in Delphi, and I bought the authentic jewelry handmade in Greece. It was a beautiful day and would highly recommend!!!
Chris was truly wonderful. He was a great driver with lots of great insights and Greek knowledge. I loved this trip and would do it again. The car was comfortable and clean. The sites were amazing. He stopped several times for us to take pictures. We ate lunch in the town of Delphi in a small local restaurant with delicious food. It was truly an unforgettable experience. Lots of historical kmowledge!!!
We loved the sights on the way to Delphi and the history of Thermopylea. The archelogical site was impressive and the app gave good information. Bill was great and made the trip fun and unique for us. He really puts his heart into his work, he is a great storyteller and he kept us well hydrated!
Nikos was a great driver! He taught the adults and kids on the trip so much and took us to a great lunch spot with great food and views! A lot of driving but great things to see!
Nikos was a great guide! Safe and efficient driver, gave us lots of great info to learn on the trip. Thermopylae is a short stop- and that’s all it needs to be. Most time spent in Delphi which was so beautiful. Lunch was amazing with incredible food and views of the vista! Loved this day and so glad someone else drove us so we could relax!
Great experience! George was fantastic and the tour was amazing. Lovely history, beautiful views, great food. Highly recommend.
Our guide, Christos, was awesome, courteous, knows his history, and even knew the best local spot with the best views for lunch. Worth it many times over, the personal recommendations really made the trip, and the service makes it feel special. I would book again in a heartbeat!
This was an excellent experience to Delphi. George Remoundos was our driver, and he did an excellent job of making us feel safe and welcome. I appreciated the insights given, including recommendations for dinner after our tour concluded. The pace for our tour was perfect, and never felt rushed. The lunch location was beautiful, delicious, and a good value. I traveled with my wife and two teenage boys, and we all had a wonderful time. Would recommend getting out of the city to experience the countryside, and this was a pleasant means of doing so.
Great experience, Nikos is the best, he drives perfectly and knows all the history, a must if you want to go to Delphi and Termopylae. Do not miss
Great trip in luxury. Picked up at my hotel and made the day work well with information and tips on what to do. Highly recommend this tour!
My wife and I went on this tour and spending a relaxing day riding through the Greek countryside ALONE was worth every penny! The views are breathtaking and never ending! The best part was our guide Alex. He was incredible! He was super personable, friendly, spoke great English, and let us explore each stop on our own. While not an “official tour guide”, he gave us all the info we needed before each stop then allowed us to explore on our own, at our own pace, while he sat back and let us take it in. No lectures, no groups, no overbearing history lesson in broken English. Just the right amount of history and direction to let us enjoy the moment. While Thermopylae is VERY underwhelming as an attraction, the rest of the day more than made up for it. If you’re questioning whether you should do this tour or not, stop and just book it. You won’t regret it.
There wasn't too much to see at Thermopylae but it was worth the stop. Delphi was amazing. It was beautiful and the mountains were majestic. Driver was great too.
Fantastic day with Alex our driver. Comfortable SUV. Alex was extremely knowledgeable of Greek history and geography.
Perfect, with the flexibiity and a great driver and companion. Very good knowledge, as he is learning more by himself. he choose great places to stop and have beatifull views, good restaurant and food.
If you want a perfect day ask for Alex. He was the perfect private tour guide. He was beyond knowledgeable. He didn’t talk too much and didn’t talk too little. He stopped at all the perfect viewing sights and his driving was impeccable!! We highly recommend this tour.
This was an amazing experience! The tour itself and the stops and the countryside were amazing. We learned so much history and everything was on our timeline, with no rush. Our driver George was outstanding! He knew so much and took us to get photo stops. We could not have asked for better. We knew it would be a small group experience but it ended up just the two of us and George in a very comfortable car.
Alex was incredible. He didn't give a canned history pitch. We had a real dialogue and he answered all kinds of questions about Greece. Delphi is such a wonderful place. If we ever come back, we will be booking with LS tours.
Our driver, Nikos, was so kind. The van was very comfortable, and he gave us cold waters throughout the day. He was knowledgeable, and talked to us about things while we drove. The only thing that could’ve made this better would have been having him, or another guide, walk with us at Delphi to explain it and guide us. I recommend setting that up. The museum is ok alone, but the ruins really need a guide of some kind.
Based on previous reviews and now our experience, we were fortunate to have Alex as our driver-guide for LS Tours and Transfer’s private tour to Thermopylae and Delphi. Alex provided excellent service by being punctual with our hotel pickup, providing useful information and comments, and being most accommodating. It has been my life-time dream (and at the top of my bucket list) to visit the Thermopylae battlefield area as I’m a third generation namesake of Leonidas. Though the name sometimes has presented conversation challenges, the visit confirmed to us the King’s character and leadership as reflected in history as well as the movie “300”. (Come and Take It) Though the landscape has apparently substantially changed, the museum video helps visualize the battle; in addition, the exhibits and Alex’s informative comments were more than sufficient to make this the highlight of our trip to Greece ( even though others may not be as enthusiastic). The drive to Delhi through the mountains was comfortable and offered the opportunity to see some different Greece scenery. The Delphi archeological site together with the museum were also very interesting and informative. The site (terrain) could be a challenge especially if climbing to the upper region -site of a stadium ( with an unusual design—lengthy instead of wide). Alex gave a pre-visit prep to include information about the Temple of Apollo and the oracle Pythia who occupied the site giving predictions to many including Alexander the Great. On the return trip, Alex again showed his professionalism by assisting me in confirming necessary documentation needed for our scheduled tour the next day when contacted by the tour operator. Most appreciative. Delphi is apparently the second most visited site in Greece; though lengthy ( about 6 hours driving), Alex and LS Tours makes it comfortable and most enjoyable and informative.
Very good experience with this tour. I would recommend to have this private tour that goes with your flow and pace.
We had a wonderful day on this tour! Our guide, Nikos, is a great driver/guide! We learned a lot from him and enjoyed the conversation on the drives from place to place. The scenery along the way was beautiful! We started out visiting Thermopylae. There is an information center where we learned about the famous battle. From there, we drove through the mountains to Delphi. The archeological site at Delphi is very impressive and goes up the hillside. We also spent time st the museum there to see the artifacts. We enjoyed a great traditional Greek lunch at a restaurant with a beautiful view of the valley. We stopped to see Arachova and then headed back to Athens. This tour was a highlight of our trip to Greece!
We had an awesome time on this tour with Alex. Alex was proactive with his communication, prompt to pick us up, and super friendly and informative throughout the tour. We did a lot of research before booking this tour, and in the end, we were glad that we planned to see Delphi like this. Having a private driver gave us more flexibility and a more tailored tour than a big bus tour. Also, if you are debating day trips from Athens, we would say Corinth and Delphi (this tour) are the musts if you like history! It's almost unbelievable to see a civilization that has such deep history - very memorable experience!
Nickos is excellent. He is knowledgeable and friendly. He made reservations for us to have lunch at Vakhos which had excellent cuisine.
The trip to Thermophylae alone is 2 hours so I had a lot of expectations from this section of this trip. What you get is a simple statue and a marker in the hill were supposedly "a battle" took place, that's it! You have to imagine the pass since supposedly the sea has receded farther away. Search for this on youtube and call it a pass on this one. Delphi on the other hand was something else. This is definitely worth visiting. We arrived early at 9:30 am so it wasn't crowded yet. But in a matter of a few minutes, the tour groups started coming in and was crowded by around 10:30 am.
Our driver and guide, Chris, was absolutely incredible! He was highly communicative and kept us well-informed about Greek mythology throughout the journey to the site. Chris went above and beyond to keep us entertained—he even made a stop at the hot spring and treated us to some freshly picked local fruits. The lunch spot he chose was fantastic too. Everything about this trip was seamless and enjoyable!
Alex provided excellent service in all aspects of the tour. He provided topical insight and informative dialogue. Alex arranged an excellent table for lunch in a great restaurant in Delphi. The food and drink were the very good and the view was very impressive at a reasonable cost. I highly recommend Alex and LS Tours and Transfers. We had a great time!
We booked the day trip to Thermopylae and Delphi from Athens for myself and my daughter. Our driver and guide, Alex, was absolutely amazing. This was our second trip with Alex as our tour guide (the first was the Corinth Day trip from Athens) and with each booking Alex went well above and beyond what was required. He was very very knowledgeable about the areas all along the trip to each location and the locations themselves. He was very personable and we really enjoyed talking with him and getting to know him. He was a great driver also, which for a long trip is a plus. He made reservations for us in Delphi for lunch and we had the most incredible view of the mountains and valley below. The vehicle was very clean and nice as well. I would highly recommend this company, this particular tour, and while I am sure all guide are equally as fantastic as Alex, I would highly recommend requesting Alex as your guide. 5 STARS.
Nikos was an amazing, friendly and knowledgeable driver taking us to so many beautiful destinations via the most scenic routes past natural wonders as well as historical monuments. He even suggested an authentic Greek homemade restaurant in Delphi with the most amazing views of the mountains and coastline. He provided amazing history of the areas as well as linked mythological stories of Ancient Greece. Highly recommend Nikos if you get him as your driver!!!
Nikos our guide, was amazing. Incredibly Knowledgeable and very friendly. The recommendations for where to go, and what to see were spot on. Even the lunch restaurant that he made reservations for us at was fantastic (the fried cheese was delicious) We did not feel rushed at any of the locations, and even through the windy roads of the mountain we felt completely safe. If you plan on taking this trip while in Greece, ask for Nikos, and you are guaranteed for a great experience.
Nikos our guide was amazing. He provided tons of information about all the locations we visited, and gave us an excellent experience all around. Food recommendations were excellent, and we didn't feel rushed at any of the locations.
Nikos was an excellent guide. He got us to all our destinations in a timely manner, was a wealth of information, and very helpful. He was accommodating of any requests we had and made the long day very enjoyable.
George was a great tour guide. Really professional and knowledgeable. We didn’t feel at all rushed throughout and couldn’t have been better.
Alex was amazing! Answered our questions and gave some great insight into the areas. Also great with communication prior to picking us up from the hotel. Highly recommend taking a tour with them. We enjoyed it so much that we have booked another tour for our vacation!
Enjoyed the day with Alex while driving to Delphi and Thermopylae. Very knowledgeable and a good greek lunch. Would recommend.
We made a great decision to use this tour company to pick us up from our cruise port, take us to Thermopylae and Delphi, and return us to our hotel in Athens. Our driver, although not a licensed tour guide, and unable to accompany us into the sites, was still extremely informative and told us almost everything that we needed to know before going inside. The car ride was extremely smooth and comfortable, and we did not feel hurried or rushed in the slightest. All in all, a great decision.
